Ballistic HC Case - Possibly the Toughest Evo 3D Case - HTC EVO 3D

Ballistic HC page is up, enter your email for updates. It looks like the case has more protection for the camera area than the SG.
The optional outer layer looks different from the Evo 4G. It appears to have both camera and kickstand available with the outer layer.

looks good
whats the ETA to availbility?
although i think seido's rugged cases they made for the EVO are the toughest

doesnt look bad for a tough case, are they typically better quality than otterbox?

They are tough... you should watch the video on their home page

I know the original Evo 4G Otterbox Defender case was not made at the same factory as the iPhone cases. Thus, there was a seriously lower level of quality. However, regardless of variables, I have found Ballistic cases to be far sturdier than Otterbox. The top of the line Otterbox Defender can barely be compared to the Ballistic mid-level SG offering.
The advantage of Ballistic is that the outer layer is optional. When you strip off the outer layer, you have a case of similar size to the Otterbox Defender and it's still far superior to the Otterbox.
Just so you know I don't work for Ballistic, I will say that I am considering a Trident Kraken this go round also. And in reality, I will take whichever I can get my hands on first.

I think I might have to get one of these...

With me being in the military and about to deploy, I want this case. Too bad is out of stock...

That thing is built like a tank

That looks way tougher than the Otter. I'm sold. I love the Invisashield too (I think that's how you spell it). Hopefully that comes out soon.

I hate Zagg, that's what I've used for the past year, it took quite a while to lose the gripped feel.
I just caved in and bought the Otterbox Defender, it should hold me over until Ballistic or Trident put something nicer out. I'm not an Otterbox fan, but the alternative was the Seidio Rugged which didn't last long on my Evo 4G.

Otterbox don't have jack on this one. Will definitely be getting it.

I hear ya. With my Hero, I bought the full cover zagg shield and the outter to protect it. Over kill, but I have a tendency of always dropping my phone and scratching the hell out of it.

There are other wet screen protector options that offer just as much protection without the orange peel and grippiness. I don't know what's available for the 3D though...

True, but I personally used my dental grinder at work on the zagg to confirm its claim. So ever since then, I haven't had the urge to try anything else. I'm a creature of habit.

Be careful with that. They (Sprint) charge $4.99 per minute if you're going to Iraq, and $5.99 per minute for Afghanistan. Be sure to turn every sync feature off, and just use WiFi (if you have a signal near you) on your phone if you plan on bringing it.
[/offtopic]
This looks like a nice case, but how much bulk is it going to add? That thing looks like a monster. The Seidio Active is only 2.2mm, and still that is going to be quite a bit, I don't think I could deal with much more than that.

Ballistic SG Case

The SG looks like it will be made for the 3D. I would prefer the HC, but I'll take whichever comes out first. It's honestly seldom that I actually use the optional outer layer or holster with my current HC.
I would guess that this mid-level Ballistic case provides at least equal protection to anything provided by Otterbox or Trident.

That's what a lot of people say about the phone without the case.
However, it is useful to a lot of people with jobs like construction, mechanics, etc. that need something tough.
Also for people who are very active and outdoorsy(i.e. mountain biking, krav maga)
Very Nice.

Both cases:

I had a otter box for my OG Evo.
I was not really impressed with the overall quality of the product and I often found it hard to to hit the corners in it. I want to get a S case because I have to bike home from my job and I often have to change songs, to do that i take out my phone. At the time I have to stop, because I am afraid I might drop my 3VO >_<
Just got a email from the company saying they have the SG case in stock.

I went to BestBuy yesterday looking for a case and I saw that one. In my opinion, it has two problems.
1.- The kickstand is made of thin plastic, it might be functional, but it doesnt look very sturdy.
2.- (The biggest one) Once the phone is on the stand, the USB port ends up facing the table so you cant charge your phone and use the kickstand at the same time.
On the other hand, its the only option for now if you have to have one.
I rather wait until the official comes out or the dock.
The official HTC case for the 3VO will be just like the Thunderbolts, nice and slim with a meaty metal kickstand.
i bought the body glove vibe cover from the sprint store and love it. it only comes in purple that i know of. it is 24.99 and i received 25% off for buying two accessories.
edit it fits perfectly in the car dock from sprint.
I shelled out the 35 for the kickstand case (pt) from BB. More than I would usually spend on a case but it doesn't add much bulk at all and the kickstand is nice to have. It does seem on the fragile side but it locks in pretty good so I don't think it will pop out when it's not supposed to. There are 2 settings - out and out a little further. The 2nd enables you to stand it in portrait and thus charge the phone. Not a perfect case, but pretty nice.
The body glove kickstand idea looks cool but it looks bulky and well ... it's purple.

I got this yesterday also...I really like it, and I'm not a case-kind-of-guy! My OG EVO, no case, perfect condition not a single mark on it. I feel this phone has to have it just to be able to set it down safely without scratching the camera lenses which I did on my first E3D within 4 days, not good! I feel a lot more safe with this case and the cheesy little kickstand works fine. Was hoping it would still fit into that HTC car mount but no go. Picked up the universal car mount at Sprint and I am a happy E3D owner!

To case or NOT to case

This is more of a philosophical question and I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinions on this.
I've always rocked my gadgets without a case. I absolutely hated the thought of adding a stupid ugly case and covering up the sexy curves of my new phone...
But for some reason, I went ahead and ordered a ballistic case for my evo3d. I don't know why i felt like it was a good idea...is this the sign of adulthood? Could it be that I am just lamer than my younger care-free self? Why protect something I'll be replacing in a year or two at most. Tell me XDA, why do you embrace this modern day burqa for your gadget?
I never have used them either. This is my first phone I bought one for. I just bought a cheap 3$ eBay cover. It is great so far. I rooted this weekend hand had to pull the battery a few times. I still haven't put the case back on yet. I found I missed the thiness of the phone. I can't decide wether I am putting it back on yet

It depends on your personal taste and how you handle your phone. If you like the textured back and you're careful with your phone, then I would suggest you don't use a case. However, if you are worried about dropping your phone and don't mind a little extra thickness, then you should use the case.
All in all, it comes down to your personal taste. Try it with a case for a while and without it for a while and see what fits your use best

Exactly what this guy said. I love the textured back and would hate any added thickness. (I've tried using bigger batteries on my OG Evo, hated them) I am also extremely careful with my phone and have insurance in case I accidentally drop and break it. That is why I never use a case.
If you don't care about aesthetics, feels, etc. and aren't too careful with your phone, you should definitely get a case.

Yea I would never get an extended battery. I find that it adds wayyyy too much extra thickness. I personally loved how the 3d felt (textured) in my hands but I don't have insurance and against my better judgement, I bought a case from seidio. It has a very nice soft feel but I miss the textured feel.

Seeing from this, If I were you, I would ditch the case.
Hated cases in the past, wouldn't rock them very long or often, but copped a sweet "White Rubberized Hard Phone Cover for HTC EVO 3D Protector Case" off Amazon for under $2 dollars, and its grip and quality are great. It snaps together too, completely encasing the 3VO, and also adding that extra buffer to protect the camera lenses and glass (feels way better holding too w/out cams protruding.) Won't be sporting a naked phone again

I would but I have a clip that I use come some shorts I have don't have pockets xD go figure...and I also don't want the camera lens to scratch. To me, the tradeoffs aren't unbearable so I'm happy with a case I slip it off from time to time just for kicks.

Thoughts on this Case? Holster Combo

anyone have experience with this case? thoughts?

OK, I'm not a fan. Its an OtterBox knockoff without the hard plastic case. But $9.00, you have nothing to loose!
Isn't it more like this one?
http://www.amazon.com/Technocel-Hol...QO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1326241379&sr=8-12
For the price I'd go with Technocel over ebay's version. I actually have it and it's quite nice.
Believe it or not they are the SAME EXACT item. Technocel asks a manufacturer in China to make it, then they make it for Technocel, then sell some on eBay themselves. I ran into the same situation with the following:
this Amazon case
and
this eBay case
SAME THING!
I got it on eBay for $2.95 + free shipping.
BoxWave was going to sell it for $19.95 and a shipping charge. I bought it from eBay, while BoxWave was having a pre-sale. (It would be shipped when ready.) People actually paid $19.95 for it.
I emailed the company and told them and their response was "I'm glad you found a similar case."
I sent them the links, and they replied "It is the same, because of this, we will lower our price to $9.95", and they did, but I got the case before it came out in the US directly from the manufacturer at a cheaper price.

The issue I see with this case as well as the Technocel one is the fact neither provide much screen protection in the sense that if your Motorola Photon 4G falls either face down or bounces on the ground and ends up face down, your LCD more than likely will shatter. If I'm not sporting the Otterbox Defender Series case for mine, I'll carry my Motorola Photon 4G in a Trident Aegis Series one. True, the Aegis Series cases don't have a holster clip like the one you reference or the Technocel case/holster combo Mongofrye, but I find the Aegis case by itself is thin enough for keeping in my pocket.

At the same time, both cases provide a lip that protect the screen. At the same time, you have a Gorilla Glass Screen. Now, I love Trident, and I would have a Trident case for my Photon but I could not stand not having a landscape holster. So, that is the only reason why I choose the Defender...
Trident does have wonderful cases though!
Go for the Trident Aegis if you don't mind being without a holster, guys! Great Case!.
(I swear if another mod PM's me saying this is spam, I will never create a post or comment on an accessories post, ever again.)

i saw this one on amazon and figured it is like the one they sell at the sprint store. I like it because (minus the holster) it is very low profile.
I honestly like very basic protection. i hate adding tons of bulk to my phone. The one on Ebay looks different in the fact that it has a soft inside on the holster and the clip swivels in order to act like a stand. Could be used at a desk and you could flip it around to allow charging while in landscape mode.
Either way, i looked a little deeper into amazon and found i think the same one as the one you posted above for only $2.99 + .99 shipping. I went ahead and ordered it. I'll report back on quality.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006L8APYQ/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details
In my opinion, the TPU cases provide probably the best protection with the least amount of bulk, but i just can't stand that there aren't cutouts over the volume and camera buttons. Such a pain. If anyone can find me one, i'll jump on it.
This is just another instance where the case is the EXACT same as the Technocel case listed above, and for this reason, I'm gonna go ahead and order it. Savingsss, oh, how I love savings!

I'm getting the commuter and a set of really nice screen protectors for this. I had the Defender for my DInc2; it was too bulky and the built in screen protector sucked a lot. It got dirty really easily and dust got under it too well. I'd rather have a slimmer case and a quality screen protector.
The accessory I'm most excited about is the Media Link though. It's a pretty penny, but that will be a really cool feature. Emulators on your TV with your phone as the controller. It's gonna be real nice.

So if you want to go without a protector, I would imagine it shouldn't be a problem to remove.
Is there a band to go around it? Similar to how the iPhone antennae issue was "fixed". I don't want a case, but I would like a ~2mm lip to protect the glass when laying face down.
Edit: After some googling, apparently they are called bumpers. I can probably get a cheap-o from ebay after release. Does anyone have any experience with a bumper case?
I'm hoping for Trident to release a case... i love their Aegis on my E4GT...i wont consider another brand

I emailed the TPU-cases guy to see when they would have them ready as I usually buy from him AND will probably buy another one from him once they are ready BUT I did go ahead and order one of the TPU cases from the HTCPedia shop http://shop.htcpedia.com/htc-evo-4g-dura-gel-tpu-case.html
Says it should ship "on or before 5/11" so we'll see...
I liked the hard snap on platinum cases from Best Buy. That gun metal color. Hope they have those again.

The only thing I didn't like about those was mine interfered with my screen protector. Meaning it peeled up the edges when I went to put it on.
I will prob be getting the Active Combo from Seidio.

I saw that one too but come on.... 12.99 for a tpu case. That's quite steep. I'm used to paying like 3-5 dollars. I think I'll wait lol.

TPU-cases.com are usually $8 or so in the early stages and then once more knockoffs come to market you can get cheaper. Honestly, I would pay evwn more as long as I have a case the day my phone arrives that I know I will like. Put a case on as soon as box is open and phone will look like new next year when it's time to upgrade, again.
