Kickstand Case :D [Pictures] - HTC EVO 3D

Bought it as best buy for 35 bucks. Kind of expensive but i really like it. It has very nice soft touch finish to it and it feels great in the hand. With the case on its only a tad bit thicker than the epic 4g. Kick stand props up nicely vertically and horizontally. Theres also a nice soft fuzzy material inside the case to prevent it from scraping against the phone, and it protects your camera lens when you set it down on its back. It doesn't get in the way with anything and it fits great in my slim fit jeans
$35 bucks at best buy. Kind of steep but i had my 50 dollar preorder giftcard so i just used that.
UPDATE: It stands perfectly in portrait as well!

Holy over sized pictures, damn.
edit... here ya go, not a bad looking case, I definitely wouldn't mind having a kickstand.

ahaha thanks! i just uploaded them to picasa before i saw your post lol

Looks like that case adds a lot of bulk to the phone :/

protects the camera? can't tell it kinda looks flush

This looks 3rd party? The official HTC case has the kickstand oriented so the charging port is on the top. With this case it doesn't look like you can kickstand it and charge it at the same time.

What brand is that? Is it best buys platinium series? I like how it goes together, in my experience that style(comes apart as top and bottom) is by far more durable.

yea i think so too... Im hoping somebody comes out with a replacement battery back door with the kick stand built in

Yep, that's a Platinum Series case. Most of their stuff is made by Seidio.
I plan to mozy on over to my Best Buy today and see if they'll sell me accessories.

I went and checked it out. I'm going to wait for Seidio though because I need the combo with the holster. The only holster option BB had is for the rugged case which is too big for me...

haha wow youre right. Charging port touches the surface when you're using the kickstand. If it were the other way though, you the volume buttons would be touching the surface.

No holsters. The only holster they have is for thier rugged version.
I bought a surface case but will order a combo from seidio as well.
gotta have the holster!

I just confirmed my concerns with Customer Service, This is their answer:
Thank you for contacting Seidioonline.com. The kickstand on our SURFACE case for the EVO 3D does not allow access to the charging port when it is in use. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 832-204-1118.

thanks for the update - I was told this item was sold out and Sprint wouldn't be getting it until days after the release date of the EVO 3D - Best Buy, here I come tomorrow.

Yeah it's not bad except I need to access the charge port when in use. So, I'm taking mine back.. I do like the feel of it and the fact it does add a little more protection around the camera

bought this same case and was suprised to find out that the kickstand is plastic and not metal. just fyi

I was about to call them and yell at them for not emailing me when they became available, but then I realized that they were just pictures of some of the pre-orders.
I will probably be picking up two of these cases when they come out. I've had a Seidio case on my EVO for quite some time, and my wife has had one on hers since she got it (also an EVO)
Edit: Going to get the Active: Sapphire Blue, and the Surface (with Kickstand) - Black
The Seidio SURFACE has surved my Evo well... Looking forward to the next one. All the others seem to bulky to me.
Thanks for posting....but that case isnt so hot looking lol

Do they have an innocase version?
Yeah...these days they're calling it surface but its the same thing.
There are pics of it on the link.
Here's the Surface case with kickstand option
and here's the active
So has anyone found a case that would possibly cover the camera to protect from scratches and possible cracks seeing how the evo the camera was the vulnerable part of the phone. with it being as large as it is that is one of my main concerns.

The Convert case converts the Surface into a rugged case by adding an optional outer layer and shell.
If you buy the Convert, it comes with a Surface. No need to purchase separately.
Yes but the active case is not as bulky overall as the convert case.
I'm sure I'll end up trying them all
I just wanna know when we'll actually be able to buy these accessories. I've already ordered my Evo 3D and want to protect it as soon as I get it.
I've had Seidio cases and holsters with my G1 and my Vibrant. I almost don't even bother to look at anything else 'cause Seidio makes such great stuff.

I've heard the HTC case will be in the Sprint store on the 24th.
Best Buy may have the Seidio case then as well since they carry some of thier stuff.
Pre-orders are up on a lot of the Seidio cases now.
Looks like estimated shipping date of July 8th for cases and June 24th for screen protectors.

well i got the otter box defender for my e3d and the lip on the screen makes it hard to type and the holster is a pain to remove the phone with one hand i'm thinking of just returning it and hoping they get the holster, or order the seidio surface
As soon as my cases get here, I'll post screens of the Active (Sapphire Blue) and Surface (Black with Kickstand).
Of course, it seems like I won't get them until around July 10th.
Man I really need something with holster at least until the Seidio comes out. I may have to just get the otterbox until then...

Suggestions for one piece hard plastic case

Hi All,
Could someone link me to a one piece case that is made out of hard plastic?
I've searched over 1000 on ebay and couldnt find any!
I like the hard plastic 1 piece case since they are usually slim.
Thank you!
Sprint has one! I finally found one! its 28 dollars tho. Only comes in purple but has kick stand on it! it is made by Body Glove, I went to their site and they dont even have the Evo 3D listed =\

I got the red Body Glove and love it. I generally don't do cases but once I slid it on I couldn't take it off. Sorry don't have a picture. It was 28 bucks I think but got it for 20 with my discount. Got it at the sprint store.
Bought one (pink) for the wife today. It was $24.99 at my local Sprint store, fit nice and tight. I like that you can prop it up either way in landscape mode, so charging while "kicked up" is possible.

Wow, how these places charge $28 bux for a piece of plastic is beyond me. I feel bad selling our TPU cases for $8.95! $28 and I'd feel like a con artist.

I ordered the green thru your site.
The site was dog slow, i was afraid paypal was gonna time out on me. I was starting to wonder if i tried to order right as someone started scheduled maintenance or something.
But it appears to have gone thru, so now it's time to wait and see.
my only concern is that if these (or any) cases trap heat. I sorta like having the exposed metal bezel that seems to behave as a heatsink. Either way I'm glad to have a device that isn't a slider so i have a lot to choose from.
I personally would love to find something similar to the iLuv snap-on cases for the ipad and ipod touch. they cover the back and corners and sit flush with the screen. But for $9 I can't go wrong.
Got my TPU case today. Wish i knew it was local, i could have probably picked one up same day.
but shipping was extra quick, and the was exactly what i was hoping it would be. Firm and flexible, not squishy like a silicon case. The fit is real tight and everything lines up real well. The top camera hole is ever so slightly off-center, but is barely noticeable and does not affect functionality at all. You would really have to stare at it to see it.
The case itself is glossy and not sticky, but still has plenty of grip. I could see it getting slippery with greasy fingers.
The firmness is reassuring that it won't pop off. It reminds me a lot of the iLuv case I had on my ipod touch before i switched to a snap-on back cover.
Overall I think the TPU case is a great value. I hope the company can remain profitable at this pricepoint, but given that most cases seem to start at $20, I think there's room to grow and still compete.

[Q] Has anyone tried this case before?

This looks interesting to me. Since it will take Seidio forever to offer accessories. I need something to tide me over.

I ordered one. I had gotten the krussell extra-large holster case, but it is waaaay too big, so I'll be shipping that back to amazon.
I'll post a followup. The only worrisome thing is from the pictures it might be cheap in that the backing is only one width and doesn't taper to the top edge of the phone.
Let me know how the holster is with that case

i believe those are PureGears. They made that same design for the iPhone. Insanely good price and didn't add a crazy bulk to the iPhone for having case+holster.
I saw seido holster from the galaxy captivate worked with the S2 though
I have a holster for my captivate from seidio. It doesn't fit, too small. I wonder if you were to get the one of the combo packs and not use the shell if it would fit though. I may order one just to check.
I went ahead and ordered the case from ebay also. I will review when it comes in.

Two problems with it:
1. The secondary mic is covered up. I plan on drilling a hole with the dremel to open it up.
2. Because of the top tab (see first image) you can only choose to have the USB available or the headphones available when it's in the holster, but not both. Again a small cut-out in the tab could make it not block the headphones, which I might do as well.

Yep, it took about 50-75 pulls before it started to easily slide in and out.

When it is in the holster in the face-out position, is it stable? Can I go for a jog with it on my belt and not worry about it?
Also, has anyone tried this holster with any other case? And will it work face-out as well?

It's very stable. The face-out position has more friction to it than the face-in position. Both positions don't budge when seated, but it will take more force to remove it from the face out position.

I'm using the holster with The Agf case with the leather insert from the att store. I had to do a few easy mods to make it slide in easier but I'm diggin this combo.
The case that comes with the holster doesn't protect the phone as much as I'd like.

AGF Magnate Case

Here is another case I found during my search for unique, high-end cases for our phones. The company who makes it is AG Findings. They own Ballistic, so it's not some no-name company. It is a TPU case with a leather inlay on the back that adds some sturdiness and refinement to a standard TPU case. I actually ordered this case and it should be here Thursday. I'll post pictures when I get it.
Again everywhere I've looked says it fits I777...so we will see.

I see it for $16 on Amazon w free shipping. I already have a couple of other cases, including the Casemate pop stand (white) and Incipio Featherlight case. While I liked the Pop up stand, it's a bit bulkier than I'd like. Any idea how this one compared to the Casemate pop up case? I like the look, guess I'll do some more research before pulling the trigger on this one.

I think its about as slim as you can get while still having reasonable protection. Id say its definitely slimmer than the pop. Its a classic looking and understated case and feels great in the hand. I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow evening.
Any luck with taking some pictures?

Yeah it is nice. It fits pretty tight and feels good in the hand. The material is smooth to the touch and doesn't snag in pockets. I found it on Amazon for around $12 if I remember correctly. The hole at the top for the headphone jack may not work with some headsets. For example in my car my AUX cable has to be shoved into it with some force to get it plugged in, but once in it stays there. You could always use a hot nail to open the hole up a bit.
I'll probably bore it out with my Dremel
Got my case in today. So far, I'm really digging it. The buttons are a little tougher to press, but I'm getting used to it.
The case is a little tough to get on/off, at least at first. I do like that the case is VERY snug. The case has a good feel to it, although it could have a little more grip to go with the texture. It's also surprisingly light.
I also have a Case-mate Pop Case and an Incipio Feather Ultralight Case, so I decided to take pictures to compare all three.
The Incipio Feather case is by far the slimmest, next is the Magnate, then the Case-Mate case. I paid $25 for the Case-Mate, $21 for the Incipio, and $15 for the Magnate, although the Magnate said $35 on the box and arrived in the official AT&T store packaging.
While the Incipio case was the lightest, it also offered the least protection. I'd probably rate the Magnate case and Case-Mate the same as far as Protection goes. I couldn't be much happier with this case.

Anyone have this case?

I have this one I think. Again with no brand name. But I can say that it is a perfectly adequate case for using it on your desk/table however it has a loose fit which when you try to put it in your pocket it wants to come off. Given the price I can't really complain.

Thanks that helps. I don't want one that is going to try and come off. I found some other cheap ones on Amazon.
I bought a couple from Amazon from the company BoxWave, they're pretty high quality and fit well, have raised edges and come in a few different colors.
http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Samsu...3M2K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329855698&sr=8-1
Couple of questions on the Boxwave unit...
Any chance it will work with a cradle type charging unit? If so, which cradle is recommended?
I am looking at the Hyperion unit and it looks like it might actually work.
I cannot post links yet, but Amazon and "Hyperion galaxy note" should get the job done.
Next question is rather odd...I want to be able to set my phone in a cradle in landscape so the connector will not work (obviously). So is there a cradle that will allow the Boxwave unit to remain in place, AND hold the Note in landscape? I do not care about charging in this configuration, as I will just run a cable to my USB port on my PC or charger.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Rob
I definitely suggest TPU cases. You can get them every bit as cheap, provide similar protection, and will slide in and out of your pocket when you want it to, and will stay there when you don't. Also, due to the snug fit, I have found they allow much less dirt to get inside the case compared to silicone cases, stuf keeping your device scratch free.
I remember that I had a silicone case for my first iPod, a 30gb video, and I was highly disappointed when dust and dirt had scratched the back of my device. Silicone cases don't do much except make your phone grippy. they may defend well against drops, but TPU is just as good and doesn't allow your device to get nearly as dirty/scratched.
Ignore this post.
