[Q] Bootloader question - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

if they can do THIS
Can the method used by implemened on the x10?

0_0 wow, i hope so !!. Good find Pilot.

But surely by pass is better like we have now like incase something goes wrong you can simply flashback to stock and your warranty is still there. Bypass is more than adequate for me. Is there any extra benefit to be gained from fully unlocked bootloader as opposed to the current bypass?
Nice find though ;-)
Although I guess flashing back to a stock rom with flashtool could work incase something broke. But say if something broke would flashtool still be able to read the device as x10?

The thing is we don't have fastboot on X10, so I doubt this method could be applicable!
Someone should let our devs know though, just in case!

Exactly. I'm thinking, We need a way to enable fast boot (It should be present to my understanding)
This is really turning out good. xperia84 was really right about this. If Motorolla and HTC unlock bootloaders for Atrix and Desire then why not SE for x10?
just think of it guys, It's pure business and competition

Actually, our devs shouldn't do anything for the bootloader for now. Who knows our x10 gets unlocked when getting GB as a big surprise?! Unless if they like to do it, they should keep messing with it !

Fastboot is a protocol used to update the flash filesystem in Android devices from a host over USB. It allows flashing of unsigned partition images. It is disabled in devices with locked bootloader since USB support is disabled in said bootloader.

Just a funny idea...
So the SE provides oem unlock codes for their devices. Obviously we cannot use fastboot with S1 loader.
But what would happen if we use usbloader with fastboot mode enabled...

So we can't enter fastboot with the provided loader for sure.
The post is quite old (16th April 2011) so I guess this idea unfortunately has sunk.
But maybe someday there will be a workaround...

[FAIL]Lets try UNLOCK BOOTLOADER!

I know this is completely useless since bootloader has been bypassed, but I don't want hidden things on my phone!
If you don't either, then help me!
So, I think that it's a simple button combination to fastboot and unlock bootloader.
I tried holding the this (the order matters) : BACK + POWER
and the led blinked green once. I assume that this is an indication to continue and press something else to unlock.
I don't know, that's why I ask for help.
Please try combinations and report them here.

we should look at the x10 unlocking method (cpu exploit) becuz x10 and x10 mini pro are similar in some specs like ther kernel.
I just lawl when I come here, I thought i will be seeing some hard hex codes, and complex kernel sources .
Btw, that wont work, and also X10 it's SO different to mimmi on everything (kernels are not the same, processor, screen, bla)

If it doesnt work (no offence D4, i just dont know what programming languages you know) then we probably have no hope as we dont have a Dev team, only D4 now. And of coure, NobodyAtAll from mini.
It's funny how SE has instructions on their website on just how to do this:

It works only on:
* Sony Ericsson Xperia TM PLAY
* Sony Ericsson Xperia TM arc
* Sony Ericsson Xperia TM pro
* Sony Ericsson Xperia TM neo
as the sidebar says ;-)
By the way unlocking a bootloader isn't so relevant (at least for me), i'm wondering if we could just load a custom kernel over the SE's one using kexec-tools... in the next weeks i'll start reading something more about it, thus if we load a custom kernel (with proper hardware configuration, hoping SE doesn't patch the kernel too much) i guess we could get out from 2.1 constraint that SE forces us into.
It's only a guess, but i think it's a worth trying ;-D

thanks a lot all fixed i was sure u guis can help me,
another question is there any way for me to turn back to official updates and using track id?
Did you even take the time to read the disclamer that Sony Ericsson has on their Developer site?
Known issues
It is currently not possible to unlock the boot loader for CDMA phones.
Some customers with unlocked boot loaders have experienced problems when they are accepting over the air upgrades (FOTA - Firmware upgrade Over The Air). For customers that have unlocked the boot loader, please do not accept any over the air upgrades. For additional information, check out the hints and tips from the community on the XDA forum.

That answers the reason you bricked your phone.
And as it has been answered a gazillion times. NO NO NO NO. You CANNOT restore DRM or Track-ID. There are other third party apps that do the same thing.
Please note that you may void the warranty of your phone and/or any warranty from your operator if you unlock the boot loader. Sony Ericsson can then no longer guarantee the full functionality of your phone, and will not be responsible for any unsigned custom software being flashed to the phone after the boot loader is unlocked. Certain functions in your phone might cease to work, and performance might not be ideal. You might also damage your phone permanently. In the worst case, unlocking the boot loader will cause physical injuries or material damage, for example, due to the phone overheating.

That includes but is not limited to: Official updates(especially ICS), DRM, Track-ID.
I'd recommend you did some research before unlocking your bootloader. It will save you a lot of time and stress.
no i readed all the disclaimer, fully knowing what i was doing. and the reason i have done the fota upgrade was only a stupid mistake i have pressed ok on the notification of update, becouse is similar with the market notification of updates, and i was only wandering if some genius in here was able to make the inverse process of the drm data thanks a lot for evrything.

{U} [Q] Rooting with LockedBL using Flashtool?

Hello,
I've tryed serveral apps and Windows utilities to try to root my Xperia U... SuperOneClick, zergRush, z4root, Gingerbreak... everything fails...
So, I thinked about a thing... If on the X8 we were able to flash Kernels and System images using Flashtool, can we use the Flashtool to flash on the Xperia U a pre-rooted system image, to obtain root? Is it possible?
I'm with Locked BL, BL Unlock Allowed = NO, that's why i'm asking this...
Hope you can find an answer for my question, or another root method.
No you can't. Flashtool images are signed by Sony and this signature is verified on locked BL.

That is why I always buy directly from Sony, that way I know the boot loader is definitely unlockable

Hi people. This is my 3rd android device. Two samsung products, and now the Z ultra.
So I have no idea what people are talking about... I'm used to ODIN... so is flashtool a similar piece of software?
My xperia Z hasn't arrived yet, Im just trying to get my head around sony and the way their devices are run..
So.. questions...
1. Backup your TA partition (I read that this has important info that I don't want to loose... Do i do this with flashtool? Do i also reflash this partition at a later date?)
2. Unlock your bootloader (Why are some people not unlocking bootloader... Do I understand correctly that some features will stop working... like x-reality?? If so, can't they just be reactivated with a custom ROM?)
3. I see there is a recovery for locked bootloaders... (can you still flash kernel's custom ROM's zips using CWM with a locked bootloader?)
Ive spent 3 days looking on the threads here, but I think because of my previous devices I have a preconceived idea of what i should be doing.. I'm confused.

Now everyone knows you're a n00b!
First of all, the minus of unlocking bootloader is losing your DRM keys. To do this, sony has provided us an official way through their website (just google it). Or you can do this via flashtool too. After unlocking, you will lose xreality engine and won't get FW update from sony anymore through official means (pcc or ota, but you can always flash). Some says trackID will be lost, too, but hey, who use it anyway?
The plus is, you entered godmode for flashing anything into your phone.
Unlocked bootloader can be relocked through flashtool, but relocked is not the same as locked, because xreality is still lost, cmiiw. To restore to original locked state, use backupTA (search thread in xda) BEFORE unlocking bootloader. And backupTA needs root, so we need root w/o unlock bootloader first (already plenty in other threads).
And yeah, what a maze this is.

I am looking at getting the phone too. From what I understand is when your bootloader is locked, it will only load signed boot partitions. So any modification to the boot partition outside of the official stock kernel will not boot when locked. So installing any custom kernel (OC/UV/etc) with stock rom needs unlocked bootloader, or installing CM (which has it's own kernel anyway). So best is getting custom roms (only modified system) with stock kernel.
Also like already said, unlocked bootloader means no updates from Sony. I would backup TA at all costs anyway.
I doubt stock kernel supports kexec, but I guess you can hack the system init process to load different ramdisks. Which is why I guess they are having trouble with locked bootloaders with recovery ramdisks in the dev forum.
I am waiting for the C6806. Here are my plans:
1. Root using vroot (hope it doesn't infect TA with something ;o)
2. Backup TA Partition
3. Unlock
4. Deal with loss of DRM
5. Install whatever ROM/kernel for daily usage
6. (maybe make official TWRP)
7. Get official updates by restoring TA partition, stock kernel if necessary
or...
1. Root using vroot
2. Backup TA Paritition
3. Stick with stock kernel
4. Help with getting locked 2nd ramdisk working with stock init
5. Is the stock ROM awesome enough? (Not sure since we don't have 4.3 )
Also hoping info comes out about ATT bootloader soon on Note 3.
LTE phone is out by 9/25 I am thinking with US warranty support. (C6806)
