got mine already!!!!! its a bad ass phone but the 3D isnt as good as i thought it would be. maybe a software update will make it better. my screen always dims when trying to look at any 3d content. everything else is perfect. where you at @cyanogen !!

Needs? Nay, good sir! Wants! A fresh factory rom is begging to be stroked and caressed and abused into something truly magical. I might be a little woozy from the ammonia fumes here, but yeah, not a need, a want.

Im sure the phone will be fine out of the box for the average user..a custom Rom / kernel will bring out the true potential of the phone..overclocking capabilities fat trimmed and total customisable ..as well as tethering etc..so no you don't have to ..but it does unleash the phones full capabilities

I'm trying to figure out who is who is trollin' hard, who is just trollin' and who isn't trolling at all. It's hard. Excellent work guys.
It is a general forum....but I do admit this is odd. But it is humorous, and way better than the stupid **** that shows up here.
On a side note, the people who flame a post are just as bad as the idiot who posted it. I mean, another great forum that I visit once in a while (nothing like I do here) is phandroid's forums. Yes there is stupid **** posted there, but it is either ignored and someone kindly responds and aids the confused individual. Here...it turns into a week long flame war.

Hello,
For worst case 50 Dollars if you were a 4G Owner, the 3VO has got to be one of the most cost effective upgrades ever in Cell Phones.
Even if one finds 3D hokey, the Storage Space, far superior Processing Power, qHD Display, Sense 3.0 (I know some do not care for it), etc, the juice is so worth the squeeze that it is laughable.
My main annoyance is how far out the Camera is from the Casing. I kept the Plastic Wrapping on the Phone until I put it in an Otterbox Defender. I wish the Commuter had Protection for the Camera as the Defender is a beast, but it is what it is.

I honestly can't say anything about how bad or good the photon is, but I can say that someone shouldn't come into our 3D Evo forums and talk about how cool a phone is without actually explaining why and then have the nerve to say that it is rooted, when in fact I can't find the actual method for it. Where's the links for recovery? su? And how many roms do you have? 1?
I dare you just to come see how many PAGES of posts 3D Evo has in the developer section. Further proof that the developer love is way favoring the 3D Evo.

Who gives a flying **** how many pages the evo 3d dev section has. The phone alone had millions of dollars in pr thrown at it. Have u you even seen an ad on tv for the photon? I am guessing not. The fact is the evo 3d was very disappointing and did not live up to the hype that was created for it.

Yet you haven't given us any reasons why you think this. Hence the problem so many have with your first post in the Evo 3D section.
Oh, and a huge amount of people care about how many pages the Evo 3D has. These forums are pretty widely known for people who like to root and play with their phones. If you can't do that with the Photon, the Photon forums here will be a ghost town.

The Photon has been out for two days, forum opened yesterday and reported just rooted, so what do you expect as to the number of threads?
Somebody needs to close this useless thread. Hopefully they did the same at the E3D forum. This my baby is prettier and smarter than your baby crap is for children.

Wow this device is AMAZING!!! It's really fast and I'm getting about 13mbs here in Connecticut. Anyone worried about getting it really shouldn't be. But I noticed my homescreen gets blurry when I go from page to page and its pretty annoying to my eyes. Other than that I'm so excited to start flashing roms on this bad boy!!!

Yeah i just got my about 30 minutes ago and i love it, so much better than my sensation aha
The only thing I was pretty irritated by when I first got the phone was really just the screen. It blurs when there's motion and if you look closely enough, you can see the pixels. Other than that, I love this phone

Umm.. I don't think so.
I hate that app anyway. It's fine for people to catch up on the forum while their are waiting for court or at the dmv or whatever... but so many people use that app to do the majority of their xda reading and end up missing like 90% of the content. Then they say "I did read and search but didn't see it" and end up posting in the wrong section. Seriously! Over half of the new posts that I end up deleting all say "Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G" or whatever.
I do it from time to time too but the majority of my posts are from a computer.
However I understand it because the convenience of it. I really do.
That's why I try to come up with ways for people to do things without the use of a computer. Such as the flash_image binary that can flash the kernel without using EKF. Android devices have been using that binary file for years now and I've been trying to push it ever since the Amaze came out. It wasn't until just recently that xboarder decided to put it in his roms.
Point is, if people want to be completely without a pc then why use a pc to flash kernels? Or if they do have access to a pc to flash kernels, why use the XDA app to post their questions? I don't get it.
Yeah really good point binary, going to try to root n flash a Rom soon, I'm about to turn on my pc for the first time in about two months lol

Instead of *****ing, maybe you should get involve and contribute to the thread in a positive way. Criticize all you want, but at least ad something helpful. Just my 2 sense (get it, sense ;p).

Anyways I say amaze, I;ve used both phones, I do like the extra devs in the sense but amaze is a solid phone!
what happens when you pick the sensation because of early ics and then when you get it ics just comes out for the amaze? what happens: you feel dumb.
no HW problems? LOOOOOOOOOOOOL. that phone felt like it was about to break everytime I took the battery cover off.
edit: do you think I should sell my amaze for the g1 because it has better development and no HW issues? hmm

what is the point of this discussion anyways? from the looks of it, doesn't seem like the op is opening this thread for any particular reason. He doesn't even specify if he is debating on whether to buy one or the other. seems like he got what he was looking for i guess a good flame war!!! lol

ive never had problems taking the back cover off my sensation, nor did i ever feel like it was going to break, its pretty damn sturdy, definitely more so than a sgs2...
however i was super afraid that one day i may drop my amaze and the screen would shatter to ****, after all the raised screen looks cool, but leaves it more exposed and vulnerable to cracking when dropped
and no i hate using cases with any of my phones, i just don't wanna add anymore bulk to an already big phone, and with the sensation i feel like if i accidentally drop it, it'll survive just fine, just like my old mt4g
and since the sensation has been out a lot longer than the amaze, it also means you can get it for a lot cheaper, having ics a little earlier is just a little plus lol

I guess it can go both ways. the screen on the amaze feels more vulnerable and the whole body of the sensation does.

true, each phone has its quirks, but i still think you can't go wrong with either phone imo
I have the Amaze 4G for me the design of the htc sensation is better than the amaze, internals of the amaze, and to me the sensation has better battery life(i'm using the extended anker battery). I got the amaze and haven't looked back though
