[q] Samsung galaxy voice talk - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, I think the voice recognition will be very handy while I'm driving, as can use for navigation and then still answer calls and read my texts.
I was wondering - what i the purpose of "double tap" as it only seems to work if you are actually in the voice talk app - in which case its just as easy to say hi galaxy. Or is there a way you can get it so double tap always works?
Also can you have voice talk running in the background so it always waits for you to say "hi galaxy", or does it need to be the foreground application to run. Expanding on this say I use voice to get navigation THROUGH voice talk, can I still use voice talk?
Sorry so many questions .. thanks though
(p.s. only just got it and trynna get to see how i can use it.)
Also finally - in messages how do you do a full stop/comma etc?
EDIT: Just tried to use voice talk from navigation (after opening from voice talk) and doesn't pay attention for hi galaxy - is there any way i can make it still search as would be VERY handy

assuming no way?

[Q] Can the Touchpad receive Skype or Google-Voice calls?

I'm wondering if its possible to receive calls on touchpad? I pay $2 a month for Skype number. I also got the google voice app that's in prepare. But when I call either number it won't go through. Is there anyway to receive calls so maybe I can get rid of cell phone plan?
I've used Skype, so I know it should work. You must be doing something wrong.
u can receive skype calls but i believe if you keep the device off for too long it automatically signs you off of skype..to avoid that i guess open up the messaging app and then make urself "available" after a while.
as far as the "google voice app that is in prepare" not sure what ur are talking about ???? but could you elaborate because i'm looking for a google voice app rather than having the use the google.com/voice website for most of my sms's
im pretty sure he means google talk, not google voice. in gingerbread, with the right apk or phone, you can make video calls with google talk.
theres a google voice app.
Download the webos quick install and press the globe icon on the right. Once that loads just seach google voice and its there. Its nothing great, defiantly wish there was something better but its better than nothing.
Regarding skype....i cant recieve calls on it. I can call out fine but when i try to have someone else call me from their cell phone it wont happen.
hmm havent had anyone call me from their phones just a skype to skype call so not sure if that would make any difference.
and gonna check out that google voice app right now
I have gotten Skype to work both ways but I can't start a video call. The option is there but won't start

I did not see an app called google voice. I did find an app called P2Google Voice in the HP App Catalog, but I had no luck in making phone calls (it seems to be for the handset only).
If there was a Google Chat plug-in for webOS browser then we could make/receive calls in the touchpad. Or if there was a app to setup a sip account the touchpad one could make/receive calls.
P2GoogleVoice has been discontinued, so it won't work at all.
The only current app in the catalog is GV Text, which I have heard does not work either.
So, our only hope may be Linphone, which was being worked out by webosinternals:
Here's the wiki: http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Application:Linphone
Here's the official discussion page: http://forums.precentral.net/webos-internals/274615-linphone-alpha-testing.html
and here's the link to install the package (but does not work on touchpad yet): http://bit.ly/linphone-0-1-8-pre
Thanks avinyc, I will keep an eye on Linphone yes it does not work on the touchpad
anyone have any luck getting a video call working?
any suggestion on how to use google talk or yahoo messenger on touch pad not as a chat but for voice
free skype
just got a Skype # today (use the discounts) and added it to my GV forwarding #s...works great. I emailed Skype customer service and they confirmed that no calling credit is used for incoming calls to your Skype #...so I assume no credit is needed if you use as callback to call out. Now all we need is a half decent GV app for the touchpad....even a modified browser may work...anyone?

Bluetooth and eCID

Using Enhanced SMS and Caller ID with a Jawbone Era, I can't get the voice reply for SMS to work. Whenever I get an SMS and try to voice reply, it launches a Google voice recognition applet which I presume is part of the Google search app. Based on a little digging around the internet, it seems that Google Search on 4.1.1 is the issue ...

Does anyone know if this was fixed on later OS's?
Did you still need help?

[Q] Google Voice and SMS?!

Hi everyone. I am soon going to get an unlocked phone(probably the upcoming Oppo Find 7 or the upcoming Nexus 5) and I am not going to get a plan for the phone. Instead I am going to be using WiFi to make calls and texts(a feature called Voice Over IP). I am going to be using the Google Voice service to be doing this. So I hear that the call quality for Google Voice is great but not so much the texting feature. Can somebody provide me with a texting service that allows you to send texts in the states and also allows you to send picture messages in the states. I am not looking for international texting. But if the app anybody recommends has that feature I wouldn't mind. Can somebody please reply fast so I can test out the texting application on Bluestacks(Android Virtual Machine) and see if I like it or not. Thanks.

[Q] How to use tasker as a voicemail replacement - NO Google Voice Availablee

Hi All,
I am looking for a way to get around using Voicemail from my carrier.
Firstly, here we pay for the service as well as retrieval of voice messages.
It would be good if i could get tasker to answer a call, play a voice recording or media to the call stream, and then record the response.
Once that part is done then i can do whatever i want witht he recording.
Also, I am not in the US, so i cant use Google Voice.

I second this. I want it for a little bit of a different reason though. I want it to take the voicemail and search it for my emergency word. If it discovers it I want it to set off my emergency profile. If not then save the voicemail and let me hear it later or view a text version of it.
Me too! Would love to be able to do this.

[Q] Making Calls/SMS with Google Voice

Briefly, is there any way to do such a thing on a tablet?
Longly: I understand there were a couple of apps that could use my google voice number for VoIP calling, but that all ended a couple of weeks ago thanks to Google flipping an XMPP (?) switch.
The Google voice app does not run on my device (I am in contemplating/researching rooting and romming to get it going). But if it did, could I make calls from within that app? Would it do sms from within that app?
It appears that hangouts android will do sms on phone devices, but I have not found a way to enable it on my wifi only tablet. On my iOS device (don't hate--I have just bought my first Android device and am coming around), hangouts app will allow me to call direct with Google voice, but not sms. (I am painfully aware, as are many, that android hangouts does not have calling functionality. An odd state of affairs, it seems) The google voice app will allow me to sms with my google voice number, but not call. It calls my phone and and then completes the outgoing call. Is this how the google voice app works on an android phone device? Does it similarly dial your phone device if you are running the voice app on a wifi-only tablet?
Any other information you think is pertinent?
I am indebted to those who read and especially to those who reply.
Your pal,
fortfive
