Somehow I don't think this is how you become a beta tester... Pretty sure they want people who know to look for certain files and monitoring stuff. Not just running their build in your day to day...

I see developers asking for testers all the time on Twitter. It's worth a shot.
I would love to be able to assist by beta testing also. Please contact me via PM for direct contact info when and if any developer is looking for beta testers!!!

I'm looking for 3 beta testers. The job doesn't pay, it has crappy hours and you'll have to flash quite a few fixes and deal with many bugs in between final releases... but you get to test the newest stuff before anyone else
I've created a special group on xda-developers for Beta testers. If you're successful, you'll be kept on indefinitely - unless things change - for future builds/updates.
Please PM me your experience for a request to join the group. It's invite-only, or I'd link it here.
For the sake of being fair, I'd prefer it if you aren't currently working on another Eris android project. You'll need to devote some time to testing all functions of the build.

You'll be happy to learn that it has been rooted and you can now install different roms. There's a sticky in the Development sub section, I'd post the link but for some reason when I try to post it I'm getting a message saying I'm a new user and cannot post links.

FYI this thread is almost 2 months old.
I know everyone here is waiting for the latest and greatest with froyo release but are there any 2.1 roms in the works?
Also inb4 make your own. I don't know how, I wish I did because I would, I don't know why people are withholding their skills because we don't have 2.2...

By all means folks don't label me as unapreciative, that's not what I was getting at by any means. I appreciate all the hard work that is being done, I know I myself am by no means helping. Just looking for any info regarding. I like to see what devs can bring to the table and the talent that I wish I had. I'd be more than happy to throw money in the directions of developers, jt and dirrk will soon see some. I can't dev but I do support which is why I asked...

Since nobody has said anything about this milestone yet, dragonzkiller has announced on twitter about 6 hours ago that CM9DX2 alpha might be released either tonight or tomorrow! Big props to him for working so hard on getting ICS onto our phones.

So, I'm curious, what benefits do we get from cm9 as opposed to cm7? Ics is nice, but will there be new features? Or is it just a cleaned up GUI. I know that ics should be able to multi-thread when gingerbread can't, so is that going to happen with our phones? (my guess is not until kexec starts working)

Well as of right now, only dragonzkiller knows how much ICS it will bring us. If its a full CM9 port, Im sure we will have all of the ICS features unless some things dont work. But this is a first Alpha so I'm sure not everything will work. It's just a wait and see right now.

Im sure there will be quite a few things not working at first. He's probably only releasing it because he has the main stuff working like data, wifi, cellular network, hopefully sms. I've been watching some videos on cm9 and saw that some other ports didnt have the camera working.

Actually it sounds like a good idea. So just to make sure I understand u right, if I wanted to talk about my favorite sports team or even shower curtains I can start a topic of some sort or pose a question and whoever wants to respond to me can do so? It sounds somewhat familiar. I think the iPhone appstore had a similar app of some sort a while back but apple pulled it for some reason. I could be wrong on that but the premise does sound familiar. I'm gonna give it a shot. I'll post back my impressions if ur interested.

It's a tad lonely in there right now. Looks like ill literally have the very first post regardless of topic. But hey, if it ever catches on and becomes a household app, I can say I was the first person to ever start a discussion. I do like the idea though. One thing I did notice is that it lacks a miscellaneous category if u want to discuss something that's sorta out of the ordinary or 'out there'. What if I wanna talk about wheat bread crust or maybe the chupacabra?? Just a suggestion. Maybe u can add a miscellaneous category in a future update

This app is banging yo I love it. I hope this blows up bigger then facebook, and Twitter. Great work brother you deserve millions for this app ! Can I add this to my new Rom I created? I havnt released my Rom to public yet I'm still working on some bugs, and tweeks but will be done in a week then il throw it up on the net.. my new Rom is called DirtyDozen its a sick Rom been running on my DNA for two months I have few more issues and bugs I have to work out! There's a reason for that, xda rules were broken, don't know how this relates to reposting his stuff but I imagine it's frowned upon.

I suppose you could PM a link to the guy - but I definitely wouldn't post it openly after what's transpired.
Its weird..isn't Monx is an experienced and recognize developer on XDA, doesn't he know that what he did will ban him from it....is he taken advantage of slow development of ZU and trying make money cause people who want will come to him....it's baffled me...

I think a lot of people are surprised/disappointed by what's happened.
I definitely am because after reading the thread I was really tempted to try the Monxified ROM - but alas.
To be honest... Monx Rom is the best in term of all Rom that I tried...to bad that our ultra losing a great developer

Unbelievable - nearly 10 years of hard developing just thrown away.
His Rom's were the best and the fastest, it's a shame !
You think the moderator can drop the charges on Monx if we plead and make Monx not to do it again...maybe he forget or not intentionally....just happy he make a rom for us but less than a month he's out of the picture for good...i use his rom and i love it....just can't take this reallity...we only just got a few stock rom...

Yeah i know....i dont see any link for donation...he just say that people who donated got updated first....that's people's right to pay or not...he not ask to did he....is that count also for breaking the xda law....

Seriously, i get it why he got banned. Giving donators privileges is a ****ty way of doing things. It would've been okay if it was an app, but holding a ROM update back for those who haven't given him money is beyond pathetic. Him being a recognized dev on top of that just makes this worse. He got greedy.
greedy for pennies, dam that whole greediness, now what it seems that losing monx is a big losss as his rom was great.
I think we should however try to settle this and ask the moderator to lift the ban, as this is going to make the dev section slowing momentum which is already the case
BTW if you know how to work the internets then the DL links are easy to find
Monx isn't banned, he has posted in the Z1 forum today, hopfully he can work things out with the admin team and get back to developing.
It looks like it was one of the Z1 ROMs that was the issue:
