I'm running Uruk1.0 and have installed the Uruk-market, check to make sure the Galaxy id was in place, cleared the framework over and over again but still not seeing at least 20 of the apps I use.
Anything else I can do?

Have you ever seen these apps in the Market on your Archos? Some things will not show up, no matter the device footprint, or the firmware version. Even using Market Enabler doesn't help. Also, alot of apps request hardware that isn't strictly necessary, like gps and 3g, and won't show up on devices that don't have the requested hardware.
yes, I used to see them just fine before I moved to Uruk1. On Uruk.7 I could download them. Not sure what changed.

So I haven't quit looking into what actually causes the market "My Apps" issue. While I do feel it truly is the database I have a slightly more detailed theory as to why it does it. However in order to test this theory I need to take a general poll.
How many of you discovered this issue after using some sort of Root tool (ie: Rom Toolbox, Root Tools, Titanium Backup)?
How many of you have accidentally or on purpose used the Market Fix that supplement these programs?
The reason I'm asking is semi obvious I suppose. While these programs can do great good it would appear that if not done correctly they can also do bad. Last night I decided to play with it a bit more and I Linked ALL system apps and user apps to the market. After a few minutes or a reboot I would get the error again.So I went ahead and broke all links again, deleted the .dbs file and started all over again. This time only doing system apps and user apps that I knew were updatable. This lead to the market functioning much better. However I'm not finished yet. I want to figure out what apps and programs trigger this. At this point in time most User apps are okay but I have found I have linked considerably less system apps to the market. What I would like to ideally do is narrow the list down to just a few apps that shouldn't be linked.
Also if anybody would be so kind as to copy and share their database file that would help tremendously. This file needs to be completely stock having NEVER used any of these programs to edit the market links. Sharing this could potentially help all Android users having this extremely annoying issue. If you would like to keep the amount of users who this down to just me you can PM me or even send it to me over Skype or some other messenger with a file share tool. Thank you all in advance.

I have an android phone (sidekick 4g) and there are apps that run in the background when not necessary. Now I know some stuff need to be aways running for the phone to function. But I also know that apps like Facebook, Market, Gmail, T-mobile's Media Store, MyYearBook, Maps, Aptoide, etc don't. When I force close them, they just start up a few seconds later. I've tried task killers and got the same result. I've read the "Why you shouldn't use a task killer" articles but everyone keeps saying different things about it so I'm confused.
Like many others, I want my battery to last at least half way through the day. The above mentioned apps (and some others) DRAIN THE BATTERY WHEN RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND WHEN I DON'T WANT THEM TO.
Please does anyone know of a way to fix this?
My phone is rooted, if that matters.
Also, "freezing" the apps don't help cause then I can't use them when I actually want to.

Applications running, doesn't mean cpu cycles are being used. Sitting in memory is no different then a song sitting on your sdcard. Your issue with the battery has to do with processes using cpu cycles. If you have applications that update, force updates manually.
Just having apps in memory isn't your issue.
Use the features built into the os, find out what apps are causing the problem. Look at the settings. If you have looked at your settings, then you have one of three choices. Open bugreports with the application developers, don't install the apps causing problems, or upgrade your phone.

I would think those apps would use battery because it pushes notifications for the app (like new messages and stuff). Does that not use battery?

It does use battery because to process the notification it needs to use the cpu. If you force applications to update manually. Your batter would be better. Check into battery saving tuts. All that information has already been discussed plenty. Won't change in this scenario either.
The more apps you have updating information the more data and notifications are being processed.

Also, I have another problem, if you know anything about this kinda stuff. The Facebook app icon just (like 10 minutes ago) disappeared from my home screen, and it's not in the app drawer either. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still having the problem. I can only open it by manually searching "facebook" in the google search widget and that's when it gives me the option to open the app. It's really bizzare and I have no idea what's going on.

Sounds like a issue with the rom or launcher. Try installing another launcher from the market and see if the application is installed. If its there with another launcher then its your stock launcher, if its not then its the rom.

I have been using my GT7510 for a couple months now and seem to find a new use for it a couple times a week. The more I learn, the more I recognize that I there is a lot of stuff that I don't yet understand. With that statement in mind, I am hopeful that someone can answer a few questions for me.
1 When I explore the apps that I have installed, some are labeled "system apps", some are not. What is the difference? Can I safely delete system apps? If so, how can I tell which apps can be safely deleted. For example, I have a WIFI-only Tab. Will the world come to an end if I get rid of apps that appear to be phone related?
2 Some apps, when viewed in SuperManager have a label that says they are "movable". What does that mean and is there any benefit to moving these apps. If so, where should they me moved? Why should they be kept where they are?
3 As most new users probably do, I have downloaded a bunch of apps, many of which duplicate the features of other apps. I would like to tidy things up a bit and remove redundant apps, especially those which are seldom used. I tried doing that today with the "Videos" app from Google. I have another video player that I prefer. When I attempted to remove this app, I was given the message saying that the app would be replaced with "the factory version". Does anyone know what this means? I did not remove this app. What would happen if I did?
I have a bunch more of these kinds of questions but maybe it is best to stop at this point and address the others in another post. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out.

System apps are the ones which we can't remove unless we have root access.
Deleting system apps should be done only if you know the exact use of that app.

Movable apps means the ones which can be moved to the SD card, so that the phone memory(internal) can be left free. This is useful when you have less internal memory(like phones). But in case of the Tab, we have more than 13 GB as internal memory. so this is not actually useful for us.

Videos from Google is a system app. You can't delete it unless you are rooted. Only thing you can do (if you are unrooted) is that you can uninstall the updates which got installed after you got the Tab. So only you are getting the message that it revert back to the factory version.
I have a bunch more of these kinds of questions but maybe it is best to stop at this point and address the others in another post. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out.

I installed Swype on my TP yesterday and everything seemed fine, but today I keep getting the message that [bunch of asian characters] has stopped. I had no idea what it possibly could be since I don;t know what it says so I thought it might be Swype and went into Input on Settings to turn Swype off. Now, under KEYBOARD AND INPUT METHODS the first thing says Default and under it is a bunch of Asian characters. Under that is all the input methods. The interesting thing is there are two selections that are checked yet grayed out so I can't deselect them which are Japenese IME and the last one is those Asian characters. What is going on and how do I get rid of them?
OK. I went through all my Apps in Settings and at the very end is one named with Asian characters. Under the name it says version 4.0.3-eng.erik.20120221.223654. It doesn't give me the option to uninstall it, but I have disabled it. I don't download a lot of apps, and I certainly don't download shady looking apps, so where did it come from and how do I get rid of it??????
It could be something else pushed on you - some apps with the Networks and Internet permissions push random apps to your phone without you knowing it (or explicitly allowing it). My girlfriend has a music app that does it to her sometimes, and it's annoying, but not malicious (at least, not that I've seen).
I tried deleting it through Titanium but it didn't work so I decided to try installing the Nightly version of CM9 and that got rid of it completely. Still, weird!

installing applications on your phone/tablet without your "permission" is the definition of malicious.
IIRC there has been some sort of Asian language keyboard in CM9/ICS for a while. I remember disabling it a while ago, not sure why its included in an English version of the OS.
Well, when I installed the Nightly build all Japanese-related input choices disappeared, so maybe they aren't included in CM9 anymore? Whatever the reason, I am happy it is solved.

It was considered a system app to Titanium, and to the phone as well, I guess. Titanium said it would do some special thing and the phone would reboot twice and it would be gone. Well, when it was finished doing its thing the app was still there. I think I tried using Titanium to remove the stock Music app that came with the phone and it didn't work right then, either. I can't remember how I got rid of that, but I eventually did.

I'm experiencing a new problem with my phone that is becoming very aggravating because it seemingly occurred when I did nothing unusual or risky with my phone. Every time I update an app in the google play store, my phone locks up and will reboot itself. Sometimes it will remain frozen until I hold down the power button myself. This problem also happens when uninstalling apps and installing apps, but it doesn't do it regularly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But the phone will always freeze when updating apps. Like I said, I have done nothing risky with the phone. I haven't installed or removed any apps that require superuser access. I haven't downloaded anything to my phone. All I have done is install a few apps here and there from the store, evaluate if I like them or not, and decide if I want to keep them. Recently I haven't been keeping new ones, so I promptly remove them. Out of nowhere this problem shows up when I tried to install another app (thought maybe the app caused it so I got rid of it), and now the updates freeze my phone.
The apps successfully update each time, but immediately after the process finishes, the phone locks up. After rebooting, the updates are saved and the apps aren't corrupt or anything. What can be causing this to happen? Everything on my phone was working flawlessly, and now this problem is seriously hindering the usability of my phone and I don't understand what went wrong.
My phone is the Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 4G SPH-D710. It is rooted and is running the stock ROM.

Hi there,
Have you tried clearing the cache for Google Play Store in Application manager? Try this first! You could also try (I assume you also have a working CWM recovery or similar?) wiping cache and dalvik in recovery!

I've already wiped the cache, data, and even tried uninstalling updates for Google Play and Google Play services. Made no difference.
As for dalvik, I'm not sure what that means. Any pointers would be helpful!

The dalvik cache will probably be under Advanced in Recovery

Sorry if bumping or double posting isn't allowed, but I wanted to update this thread.
I think I may have solved the issue. Makes no sense as to why it happened or how it's even related to what I did. I racked my brain for the most recent things I installed on my phone and the only app that came to mind was Cut the Rope. It was the last thing I could remember that installed fine. I removed it and nothing locked up. Then I tried updating one of my apps and presto. No freeze or reboot. Then I installed an app from the play store and it worked perfectly. Did it multiple times with no error. I feel like Android is so temperamental that if I even look at it wrong something will break. -_- I don't know. Maybe being rooted has something to do with it, but my guts don't want to believe it.
I'll put "solved" in the title once I keep using my phone and make sure it's working correctly. If so, I suppose the moral to this problem is just uninstall anything recent from your phone if you experience similar issues. Wish I could know the technical cause though.
