RSD Lite connects/recognizes but does not flash - Motorola Droid X2

I have a X2 running the following specs:
system version: 1.3.231.MB870.VERIZON.EN.US
MODEL NUMBER: DROID X2
ANDROID VERSION: 2.3.3
BASEBAND: N_03.13.28SU
KERNEL: 2.6.32.9-00003-GB6084D9
[email protected] #2
BUILD: 4.5.1A-DTN-117-14
ERI: 5
PRL: 52341
I tried gingerbreak to no avail - just kept "rooting" - so i figured I would need to flash the SBF made available today, which I tried to do - But RSDLITE works for about 2-3 minutes then gives me an error stating something about failure to load INI file.
any ideas? why can't I 1. Root with my current ROM and 2. Flash the device to the 2.2?

2.3.3?????
How do you have a Droid X2 running 2.3.3??? As far as I know all DX2's are 2.2.2!! Are you sure you don'd have an orginal DX??!!? Because even your kernel number has the "GB", which I am assuming stands for gingerbread but your model number stating that its a DX2 just make me want to ask you for a system dump

Where did you get that version? The x2 doesn't have 2.3.3 yet.

My two guesses are if this is a legit 2.3.3 from Moto then they patched the gingerbreak hole and that your RSD version isn't the one required for the Droid X2. What version of RSD Lite are you using?

you are going to want to use the rsd lite that I posted a link 4 in the sbf file forum. you also want to make sure you have rebooted your computer and try connecting it in different ways so try connecting before you open rsd lite and also try connecting after rsd lite is open. also try a reboot of the phone. But before you do that we want a copy of your update that you got to 2.3.3 I am sure someone could walk you through getting that uploaded for us.

In your /cache folder there should be a file called 1.3.231.MB870.VERIZON.EN.US.zip if not it should be the biggest file in the folder (well over 500MB, possibly closer to 1GB), just copy that to your computer hard drive and upload it to a file share, post a link.
Above poster should have you covered for getting RSDlite working.

Just curious if you are holding the volume up key when trying to get rsd to recognize. Reason being is there are rsd options when you hold down key as well but those don't work for sbf

Just got used Atrix need some help to get started

Hello,
I just got used Atrix from CraigList (coming from ATT Captivate). So I know about flashing ROMs etc on Samsung devices.
I performed factory reset after I got it and current version reads as Version.4.1.57.MB860.ATT.en.US.
Upon booting Atrix tells me that OTA update is available, I download it and trying to install just to find error message below
assert_failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/AccountAndSyncSettings.apk", ...... E: Error in /cache/Blur_Version4.1.57.MB860.ATT.en.US.zip. Status 7
My gold is to stay with current offical ATT ROM untill official Gingerbread updates rolls out and then modify OS.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
G
I would research in the DEV section and start over from the very beginning as far as firmwares are concerned. I got that same error when I tried to update but it was because I flashed a deodexed zip and had root.

Look for the 1.83 sbf here and just flash that. It's the same exact version you're having an issue downloading.

You cannot get all the info you need in one post, search through the thread and look to see if anyone else is having your issue.
Here is another thread that offer up some links that might help too.

You will have to read a little bit. It would take a very long time for someone to compile a tutorial that would include all the variables that might be relative to this phone.

I can confirm that flashing the latest sbf from pudding will work on 2.3.4 OTA, using RSD lite. After flashing the sbf, you will get a 0x1000 cannot boot message, but don't worry, its not a real hard brick. When that message pops up, IMMEDIATELY go into fastboot and type "fastboot oem unlock" and you will not be bricked, and you will be unlocked. I performed this on my 2.3.4 OTA atrix yesterday, without any problems.
where u get latest Sbf file ? when i click start for flashing it gave error that flashing process failed
and also have u tired any custom rom ? and how was the experience
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182526
use that sbf file. it works on 2.3.4 OTA.
read through the thread - it will explain well what to expect, explain the soft brick issue and how to remedy it, and also what you need to have in advance for it to all work smoothly.
MY RSD give error. when i entered in RSd support rsdlite show it connected when i start sbf flashing it give error that flashing process failed.0x7027 phone cant retrieve any help with that ?.
try using this version of RSDLite. It worked for me with this one.

yeah.
its just a different version of the pc software. downgrading is only a problem if you're downgrading phone software but this is ok.
not working
Same error? Did you check that the drivers installed correctly? Try a reboot on pc and use a different usb port

[Q][SOLVED] Is it possible to go back to stock SBF (Froyo) after unlock?

My Atrix came with Android 2.2.2 --- Blur_Version.4.4.35.MB860.Retail.en.GB.
The complete name of the SBF is OLYEM_U4_4.3.5_SIGNED_USAOLYPRTGB_P026_A004_M001_H Wolympus_1g_1FF.sbf.gz.
It never received a Gingerbread OTA (we are still waiting for it in Europe)
I rooted it and unlocked the bootloader. Now it has CM7 installed and another radio.
Is it possible to flash to go back to the original SBF with Froyo, or will it brick my phone? I know that the bootloader would remain unlocked.
Another question: does the SBF also include the original Radio version? (I don't remember which one it was)
Update:
My question is generating interesting interventions, so I am going to update the most interesting facts in this post.
Yes, it is possible to go back to stock SBF with Froyo after root, unlock and installation of other ROMs, even those based on Motorola Gingerbread ROMs. You just must never install an official OTA update from Motorola that brings Gingerbread to you.
@GolfCranKinstallation flow has been:
New Telstra Atrix 2.2.2 > CM7 > Telstra 2.2.2 sbf > OTA Gingerbread and no more sbf flash from now on
My installation flow has been:
Android 2.2.2 --- Blur_Version.4.4.35.MB860.Retail.en.GB. > bootloader unlock and root > Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 > Alien Rom #4 (based on AT&T official Gingerbread for Motorola Atrix 4G) > Android 2.2.2 --- Blur_Version.4.4.35.MB860.Retail.en.GB. back again. I just had to unlock and root again the device, but everything went fine.
In this post @NYG-SBXLII explains how to extract an official SBF in order to generate moto-fastboot images. This is for creating sort of fruit cakes. Additionally, he explains how to just extract the Radio firmware from a SBF.
While trying some Radios out, I noticed that by flashing a CMW Radio zip instead of a SBF file, the new radio would flash but won't be overwritten again by any other SBF file. This is probably a bug of sbf_lite. If you flash again using RSD-LITE, it will work again.
Thank you all, XDA users!
Don't quote me on this but I'm fairly certain that if you unlocked the boot loader you should stay away from .sbf'ng anything but gingerbread. Check the fruitcake thread.

There's too much confusion on this topic
Once you unlock your bootloader its not recommended to flash back using spf's. If you want to go back to froyo, use fruitcake. Its the same as the .sbf but it doesn't rollback your bootloader...which its what can lead to a hard brick.
As much as I know, it will work just fine, as long as you done flash a 2.3.4 bootloader and than revert to a 2.2.2 one.

Yes I found it confusing and was wary before I did it. But what you are wanting to do is in fact safe. When you flash back to Froyo using sbf the bootloader will not be unlocked anymore but it will only take a minute to reflash the small unlock pudding sbf. You will not even need to run the unlock with fastboot afterwards.
I have just done this successfully. I went New Telstra Atrix 2.2.2 > CM7 > Telstra 2.2.2 sbf > OTA Gingerbread. I understand that if I flash an sbf now I will brick the phone so it's only zips from now on
Have you got the correct sbf from Firmwares Superthread?

As long as you have never installed a gingerbread bootloader (other then pudding) you should be fine. However if you give me some time id be willing to make a moto-fastboot flashable alternative for you just to be safe.
Also do you have a mirror for that sbf file im trying to download it but its really slow (over 12 hours)?

yes that is the file im trying to download but for whatever reason i cant download it it keeps stopping. do you already have the sbf? if so you can use dropbox or something like that to upload it somewhere for me.
also if you already have the file you can use Portable Sbf Tool to extract the contents of the sbf you can then get system webtop and boot from the file and use moto-fastboot to flash them. you can not flash a radio with moto-fastboot though. you would need to make a custom sbf that has just the radio.
once you extract the sbf you will need CG 56(boot), CG 57(system), CG 58(webtop). after you remove those files rename them accordingly boot, system and webtop. Move them to your fastboot folder and flash.
for the radio you will need to remove the rest of the files in the smg folder execpt for CG 5, RDL 1 and RDL 3 recompile the sbf. now you can flash it with rsd lite.

I would hit the "Thanks" button 100 times if I could. Thank you very much for the mapping of the smg files and for the radio trick!
The last question (I hope):
I once flashed the CWM radio N_01.100.00R from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15787709&postcount=1.
This worked fine. But, why can I no more flash other sbf radios? If I pick any sbf radio and sbf_flash it, the program will just tell me that everything went fine but after the reboot I always see N_01.100.00R as radio version.
This also happened with the new radio I compiled with your instructions. I know this is not related to the process you told me, because it happens with other sbf radios, too.

It worked with RSD Lite. Maybe there is a bug with sbf_flash, it is probably not able to flash a SBF Radio over a CWM Radio.

Solved - Cannot Flash Fastboot/Missing apps

I bought a rooted Droid Razr yesterday. I noticed that the contacts were not working and the stock text messaging app was missing.
First, I tried unroot/factory reset. I successfully removed root, but the apps were still missing/broken.
Second, I tried to flash the latest fastboot with RSD Lite (5.6) and VRZ_XT912_6.5.1-73_DHD-11_TA-3_1FF_02.xml and VRZ_XT912_6.5.1-167_DHD-14_M2-5_CFC_1FF_01.xml to no avail. The flash failed each time.
Third, I tried flashing with the Razr Utility - fail, again.
Fourth, I tried the alternative method (I forget the guy's name) and still no luck.
I was able to install Bootstrap Recovery but failed with clockworkmod backup.
I still have the missing/broken apps. Any suggestions?
My details are:
Android: 2.3.6
Baseband: CDMA_N_04.06.00R LTEDC_U_07.1F.00
Webtop: 2.0.0-139
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-g61e3522 [email protected] #2

Build Date: Wed dec 28 16:48:13 EST 2011

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I have experience rooting an OG Droid - but it has been a while.
Edit:
Not exactly sure how I did it, but I manged to fix it. I think it might have been a problem with the ADB Win 7 64 bit drivers

[Q] Help with unlocking the bootloader

Hello. Looking for some assistance in unlocking the bootloader of my phone. I am using the Motorola Photon 4G (obviously). The current information on the phone are as follows:
System version: 45.3.6.MB855.Sprint.en.US
Android version: 2.3.4
Build number: 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6
I have successfully rooted via the method found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1819660&highlight=torpedo+1+1
I am attempting to unlock the bootloader using the method detailed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20331623&postcount=6
I restart my phone into RSD mode and the phone gives an input message that reads, "Starting RSD protocol support" and then nothing else happens. It remains on the Motorola splash screen. I'm not sure if that is correct or not, just wanted to be thorough. I am running RSD Lite version 6.0 and when I plug the phone into the computer, the software recognized a device with a model of "SE Flash Sunfire."
When I attempt to flash the file "derpunlock.sbf," it shoots through a bunch of things, the phone reboots, the software then comes back with a result of "FAIL" with a message that reads: Failed flashing process. Phone[0000]: The "Secure_Motorola_Flash" Interface could not be found. The super-file is secure and for re-flash; the phone needs a super-file that is not secure and not for re-flash. (0x7066).
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Any help would be awesome. If you need any other information from me, please let me know.
I feel like I should also mention, that when the flash fails, it phone does not fully reboot. The reboot begins, however, it freezes at the Motorola splash screen and will not progress further. I have to remove my battery to reboot.
Didn't write this but it's in the threads here somewhere. Credit to the author.

Thanks for the response. I will give it a shot tomorrow. Quick question before I start though, one step has an instruction to flash the original build and then let it auto-update to 198_6... Will that still be an option, or will it want me to update to the newest build that doesn't allow unlocking right away?
Just use the 198_6 if you have it already.

I do appreciate the help.
The problem, however, persists. Upon attempting to flash the derpunlock.sbf, the flash fails. I'm unsure why.
Always does just reboot.
Follow the steps!

Haha, thanks. That's all I needed to hear. Successfully unlocked.
