You can use GingerBreak to root your phone. If you need to downgrade after installing a custom ROM, just restore the NAND backup of your current system (which you should do before installing the custom ROM.) Hope this helps.

Guys wats a custom rom and will somethin happen to my phone and how do i back up sorry for troublin you guys

custom rom is performance boosting rom...
before u flash a custom rom u have to do somethings...
back up ur files and data to pc, contacts to sim...
all data will be erased including sms....
root ur device and flash custom recovery preferably amonra 2.2.1
then follow the instructions in the rom thread to flash it successfully...

So is it completly saafe will somethin happen if i mess up

Hey guys! I have a quick question.
I also have Android 2.2.2 and the V.10e update. In a famous german forum they said the p500 CANT BE ROOTED with 10e. Does it work or not? I am a little confused now... I don't want to brick my phone, you know...
yes, I am ashamed of my knowledge
and yes, I've read through a lot of articles here in the forum and this thread also...
EDIT:
Just for not getting me wrong... I don't want to flash anything, I just want to use root to throw out these pre-installed crap like xing, studivz etc. and to save my zenonia saves ;D
EIDT2:
In this thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900905] it says the following:
su
Also referred as substitute user - is command for changing of the account in current terminal (usually black screen with blinking cursor). Default account is root account. So if you insert into terminal 'su' and hit enter, you will become root user.

I wouldn't need the exploit, if I could do it via ADB... (if I knew the correct commands for the folders on the phone)

Alright then... But my question was, if I could do this stuff JUST with ADB, so I wouldn't lose my warranty...
Second question was if there are complications with V10e...
THANK YOU

Your first question does not make sense. How does it matter how do you root the phone when it comes to warranty?
For the rest, it takes about 2 minutes with Gingerbreak APK on v10e.

I read (unfortunately I forgot where) that ADB-rooting would not affect the warranty (don't ask me why)...
And thank you for the info

require guidance

I want to root my optimus one (running 2.2.1) to remove some useless programs (preinstalled) that are eating up battery and memory.
I tried everything. some help and guidance would be much appreciated.
2.2.1 - cannot be Rooted. You have to downgrade via KDZ Updater. Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
thanks.
but i don't get how to downgrade. all it says in upgrade
Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
Be carefull ! If you don't follow all steps you can brick your device.
thanks a lot.
one last thing, will 2.2.1 be 'rootable' anytime soon?
I cannot tell you this because I don't know.
hmm...ok. thanks a lotfor your help.
btw can i upgrade to 2.3(once it comes) even after rooting the device?
Yes,
And please read the forum. It's very easy to brick your device if you don't know what you are doing.
Cheers
I also want to root my device but the instructions I read from one of the thread didn't work for me. I have FW V10e and trying to downgrade my unit to V10b to shift to CFW.
Can anyone give me a link for the link to download the KDZ for my country? I'm from the Philippines.
Thanks!

2.2.1 is rootable. You just can't do that in one click.

Sorry I haven't been helpful xD You just have to root manually (command line way), but I'm not sure since I haven't tried it myself.

If you in 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 , then you can use this TUT.
YOU DONT NEED TO REFLASH! Just UNROOT.
Like princenoob sayed, there is TWO options.
FIRST: REFLASH you firmware(if you in FROYO, it must).
SECOND: Use this thread HERE(if you in GB)
Just use the OPTION, what you like or what you CAN DO!

can i do so . i am now on froyo . samsung replyed me that they will release GB in end of july so i will flash it with GB firmware . so i will flash it when GB release i will upgarde it on Gb & make it unroot through flash. so will it brick my phone or not
Your english is difficult to understand.
Here is my response to your post.
It seems that you want to unroot because you want the official gingerbread release from Samsung Kies software. As far as I know, it is not necessary to unroot. When you flash you phone using Kies, root access will be removed just the same as if you flashed using odin.
If you want to remove root for some other reason, it seems that you will have to reflash using odin as you are using froyo. Gingerbread firmware can be unrooted using the methods posted above.
Hope this helps

Yes you can. You dont BRICK you PHONE, if you ALWAYS follow carefuffy the INSTRUCTION in the FLASHING tutorial. ALWAYS, I MEAN, ALWAYS read WHOLE THREAD for FLASHING and you get ALL YOU ANSWERS. In there people asking GOOD questions about flashing and OTHERS good question about everything else, what is tied up with FLASHING.
Here is GOLDEN RULE DO NOT BRICK YOUR PHONE: ALWAYS READ 10 TIMES OR EVEN MORE, BEFORE YOU START SOMETHING SERIOUS.

I FLASHED my phone like 30 times in 2 months and NEVER bricked my phone.
And now back to you question.
If you in FROYO, you must REFLASH IT, with ODIN to get it UNROOTED.(You get your ODIN files from SAMFIRMWARE. You must be REGISTERED in there, to get files)
But if you in GB(2.3.3) or 2.3.4, then you can UNROOT it just using the ZIP file from you SD card HERE in the end of post(section E).

really stuck on rooting my phone !

hey guys,
my phone shipped with android 2.2.1 and i updated it to 2.2.2
now i wanna root it but nothing is working ! z4root restarts the phone but no changes... gingerbreak just keeps in that loading thingie forever (more than an hour) when i restart the phone no changes are made... superoneclick didn't help either... I found somewhere on the forums that i would need to downgrade to 2.2 but i can't find a way to do that because when i start searching for the original firmware for my country i can't find it... so any help ?
waiting for your responses...
well make sure usb debugging is enabled and try once again wth gingerbreak 1.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
install gingerbreak on phn memory ,frmat sd card using http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/index.html
hope it helps,
there are many thread on downgrading just search for it but before that try the above
yeah thanks for your (so quick) answer, but i already activated usb debugging, the sd card was formatted and mounted. tried gingerbreak for like 7 times or something and it's not working...
I tried Gingerbreak once and never looked back. I wonder what happened to your phone.
did you try taking it out to dinner ?

or use this program to get the original firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1073827
i dno why that link doesnt work, it was a program that downloaded the firmware for you. you simply select ur country.
thanks for the reply, that program just downloaded the v10g version which is 2.2.2 (flashing that wouldn't change anything). so now i need to downgrade... but which version should i use ? i can't find the original firmware for my country, and that really sucks (VERY bad service LG). so which original firmware should i get to flash it to my phone using kdz before rooting ?
thanks for your answers and time...
no replies ? come on ! which one should i choose ? no difference between them? please answer you know you can't breathe with that stupid stock rom !!

Hmm...I had that issue. It can/may be solved by any other way. But I recommend to try the one I did. You need to type some commands in ADB, and then try rooting. so now i have that "superuser" icon in my drawer, so i need to install a custom recovery... I installed ROM MANAGER from the market, flashed clockworkmod recovery (successfully) but when i select "reboot into recovery" it just hard-resets the phone and it boots again and i find it just like it was when i bought it... even tried shutting down the phone and pressing volume_down + power + menu..... is there something wrong ? please help !
Hello ,You still have clockwork (inside). Try Pull battery ,reinstall, press power,At logo press :HOME-VOL DOWN-POWER for about 5 sec.or untill you get into CW home screen. You can now only use the vol up & down to highlite an option and menu to enter/select the highlited option. If your installing a ROM ,install it (ZIP FILE) on your sdcard 1st (before) so you can select it.
thanks for replies.
I solved the issue... i just installed the rom manager 4.5.0.1 version...Worked as a charm...
Finally, i have cm7 on my phone, gingerbread 2.3.7
now i'm gonna flash the google apps (gapps) cuz it turns out i don't even have a market !

(1) Read this and the stickies guide in Generel section
(2) There is no "best" rom
(3) You cannot root a phone with cyanogenmod or any other rom respectivly, a rom does not root!
(4) After reading you should be able to answer all your questions by yourself, otherwise do not root or flash anything.

for rooting just follow the guides, yes, I guess the easiest option is cf-autoroot (will keep your stock recovery, also read the instructions in the cf-autoroot thread). Afrer that you can choose yourself what recovery you want. In addition cf-root6.4 is not considered SDS safe as it flashes an older recovery.
