[Q] Music playback issue - HTC EVO 3D

Ok, this one is a bit WEIRD.
Just went out to the trail, and I loaded Endomondo (wanted to check it out), and then I started playing an album in the stock HTC music app. I lock the screen and put the phone in my pocket, start running, and bam...the song skips to the next one. And then the next one, and the next, etc.
I take the phone out, screen is unlocked, Voice Dialer is on screen, Subsonic and Google Music app loaded as well, and my phone started dialing the last person I spoke to.
I close all of the apps, and try again. As soon as I start running, and consequently start shaking the phone on my pocket, the same thing happens. A battery pull stopped this behavior, but I was able to reproduce it again when I got home, just by playing a song, locking the screen, and gently shaking the phone.
Anyone else experience any similar issues?
EDIT: Just to mention that I am able to reproduce a similar thing with ANY music app. In most cases, the playback stops and the Voice Dialer is on screen.
EDIT 2: Looks like I'm not the only one: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/364209-head-phones-causing-songs-fast-fwd-skip.html
EDIT 3: I think I figured it out. Sometimes, when I plug the headphones in, the phone detects it as a HEADSET. /sigh
Should I take this thing back?

dsp
anybody get a FC on an incoming call from DSp?

my bad

Yep same problem here... Be sure to report the issue to HTC
sent from a double barreled shooter

I had the same exact issue after I installed Google Music. The only fixes I found were to manage to get to the task manager and kill everything. Also, I noticed that if I plugged my auxiliary cable in halfway the headset icon with the mic would appear, but when I push it in all the way the headset icon would appear without the mic and the problem would be gone.

I've been having a similar issue, although it hasnt opened the voice recorder when my phone is in my pocket sometimes the song will skip around, sometimes it will skip to the next song.. it's odd. I think it's more of a software glitch than anything..

[Q] Weird stuff going on after most recent update...

Ok guys, hoping someone can help...I am not rooted and did update to 2.2.2.
Whenever I plug my headphones in the Atrix starts to act really funky...it thinks I'm pushing the in line button and starts my music automatically or initiates a phone call to my last dialed contact. Very strange and annoying. Yesterday the thing totally freaked out while I was on a phone call (using my headset) and kept dialing and hanging up on the person I was talking to...
Any ideas here? Anyone experience something similar. By the way, it's not just the type of headphones (Bose) that I'm using because it did the same thing when I had it hooked up to my tape deck in my car to play music. While using Pandora all of a sudden Winamp would start playing out of no where.

[Q] ICS and Bluetooth issue remains when paired and streaming music--- Anyone else?

I havent seem to run in to anyone with this issue.
I pair my phone to my car stereo fine in the stock GB rom. Play music and talk on the phone endlessly.
But with any ICS version so far, even official. It causes reboots, randomly.
Am I the only one suffering from this?
Not the same, but something similar.
I can connect with my car stereo, have to do it twice (once for music streaming and once for handsfree). Once connected, i can stream music fine. Even the controls on my steering wheel work. When I receive a phone call sound is muted and i can talk fine as well.
After I hang up the phone, the music doesn't come back, only a 0.5 second stutter every 2-3 seconds. On my phone, in the music player I can see that it's my phone that has the problem; the visualisation displays exactly how i hear the sound.
This behaviour also occurs when I turn off my car and turn it on again.. there doesn't seem to be a single thing that i can do to get music to play again, just some fiddling usually gets it to work (but then i have to stop my car first before i can have music..)
If anyone has any ideas for troubleshooting let me know!
I honestly think ics has compatibility issues with certain bluetooth devices.
We can only hope they realize this and take measures to correct it.
Gingerbread is flawless.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Just a notice that this seems fixed for me now.
I've upgraded to the 4.0.4 Rom found here: Click!
Next to this i'm using the app "doubleTwist"
ICS talks a different language then gingerbread when it comes to A2DP, especially for the play/pause commands, which seem important to me..
A2DP issues
I find I have similar issue. I have a SONY bluetooth deck in my car and my phone will lock up and force restart mid song or mid phone call.
Anyone have any ideas apart from flashing that 4.0.4 Rom

Random Music plays!!!!

So my wife has the rezound and since the ICS update she says it seems like a new phone and loves it even better. just a note for those that are hating the ICS update.
But ......
there does seem to be a little bug that has been effecting it lately she says that music plays randomly out of the blue for no reason. It just starts playing for no reason whatsoever anybody else have this issue ?????
Is she hitting the button on her headphones?
slightly similar issue, I was listening to music via Google Play Music the other day, and after more than an hour of music, it would just start switching to the next song... then again.. and again until it was like every second haha. I messed with my volume hard keys (hold to skip song enabled), and with my beats hard controls and nothing ... later rebooted/fix permissions and it happens no longer. Try that perhaps, no?
bluetooth range
she must have came in and out of bluetooth range
Check to see if any of the songs on her phone is copy protected.
any song that ended with .m4p makes my phone go insane and just play random songs even if didn't touch the phone at all.
No
No she doesnt even play music on it. No headphones she gave them to her daughter when she got the phone. no music widgets the phone can be sitting idle and randomly play music. The only music she is connected to is my google music account but i dont even think any of it is synced to her phone she doesn't play music on it

[Q] Music Stops Playing When Turning Off Screen or Entering APPS

Hi,
Can someone please help me out here? Whenever I listen to music, my sound will shut down when i turn off my screen or try to access apps and it will go back to normal once I turn my screen back on or go back to my home screen.
This whole time I've been running JellyBeans Rom build 21 with no problems, but decided to switch to PACMAN Rom because I was sick of 4.1. I installed Viper4Android and followed every directions correctly, but the problems came up after this. It's so bad to the point where if I want to listen to music, I have to trick my phone by unplugging my headphones, play music through my phone speakers initially, then plug the my headphones back in to make it work somewhat normally. This solves the music pausing problem when I turn off my screen, but to do this every single time is ghetto and whack. I still can't access my apps without my music pausing when resorting to this method.
So today, I said, "Screw it" and went through the trouble of restoring my phone back to the factory settings and rooting again so if the problem was Viper4Android or some system issue within the phone, it would go back to normal. Sadly, no luck and the issue still exists. I even thought that I messed up on something when changing the coding in build prop manager, but I reverted back to factory settings so there shouldn't be an issue.
I've heard people had issues where their music would skip on them when they turn off their screen, but I think my problem is different.
So my question to you is: Anyone experiencing similar problems or do you think that this a hardware issue? If this is a hardware issue, I have no problems taking apart my phone and replace the earphone jack.
Well, I think I figured out the problem. My phone is rejecting Google launcher when it comes to music for some weird reason. I switched to NOVA launcher and my music works perfectly now. *sigh* I guess losing the "OK Google" command is a small price to pay for music... So my next question is, how do I make my music work with the Google launcher? It seems like I'm only experiencing this problem haha

I believe it has something to do with the voice activation. I am using Nova Launcher but am able to reproduce the bug using the Voice Search within Dolphin browser. When I have headphones plugged in and playing music, as soon as I use the voice search option, the music mutes and doesn't come back til I unplug my headphones.
EDIT: Just to try it, I used my gf's Razr M phone. Had headphones plugged in, played music. Did Google Voice Search, the music stopped also BUT after finding whatever I Voice Searched, the music resumed on its own. Maybe there is a code missing to resume the audio?

[Q] Popping sound between songs

So I just got my S5 yesterday, it is all stock unrooted. When listening to music in the car, between songs, there is this popping sound. Not super annoying, but still it's not very pleasant to hear. Also happens when a notification sound goes off in the middle of a song, between the end of the notification sound and when the music starts again. Anyone else have this problem?

Try resetting your phone if it stops the problem, otherwise, try flashing stock firmware, this will not trip your knox. If the issue is not resolved, return the handset for a replacement.

Are you using Bluetooth? Could be an interference somewhere or your volume on the phone is turned up too loud.

Is your phone connected to your car's speaker? Or are you just playing the music over your phone?

I have the same problem. It is not too often, but it does happen every once in a while. I notice it more when connected to car speakers (via cable, no bluetooth). I am not sure if it happens with (regular, no bluetooth) headphones.
My phone is also stock, no root or anything. I've noticed the first time I tried it. I am not sure if I need to return it or not...

It might be the cables. Though I have not experienced this with my phone, my earphones used to have the popping sounds and then one day one side just totally went off only to reconnect occasionally when I move it to a right bendy position, with the poppy sounds. So it might be the cables.
Click, pop, or stutter.

Yes, always happens when using bluetooth over car speaker system. Turning on the screen will stop it from happening. From the information I have found here and on the web, the power saving that samsung wrote to help conserve battery let's the CPU go into a low power state when the phone's screen has been off for a period of time. But if you happen to be streaming music, it will start to skip, pop, or stutter. If you turn the screen on for a short period, don't even have to unlock the lock screen, it will stop misbehaving for the same short period of time. However, if you plug your phone in while driving, you can just leave the screen on and you should not experience the problem. Hope this helps, you can google it for more information.
Pop Issue solved.
I've solved the issue. The reason that it makes a pop sound in between songs, is because when power saving mode is on, it is turning off the speaker in between songs. Just turn off "power saving" mode in your settings pull down on your Samsung, and it won't make a pop sound anymore.

I am encountering the same problem on my Verizon Galaxy S5. There is a popping noise (actually it is a double "pop pop" sound) when switching tracks (occurs in Samsung music player as well as Google Play Music). It's also noticeable when muting/unmuting the phone, and when the phone screen seems to go off. I have disabled power saving features as suggested, but the problem remains.
The problem is not noticeable on headphones (but could be due to the lower volume levels of headphones). It IS noticeable when I use the phone with an AUX cable in my car, and extremely bad on the PA loudspeaker system I use for work (I'm a dance teacher, and have generally used my phone as a music player). This is very annoying, and not what I would expect from Samsung's "flagship" phone.
I did a factory reset as suggested by Samsung tech support. Still have the problem.
I took the phone into Verizon's corporate store in SF, and the Verizon staff member recreated the problem with his own S5 too, suggesting this problem is inherent in all S5s.
What baffles me is the lack of a large number of complaints on message boards and the Samsung support forum. Doesn't anyone use their cell phone to play music at birthday parties, weddings, etc? I would have expected more outcry about this.
Any help appreciated!
Guys I am having the same issue with my S5. It is strange there is not enough complaints on it from people!
I have talked to Samsung about it and they don't believe such a huge bug!
Has any body solved this issue?
popping noise driving me mad on s5!
I have the same problem with a new s5 from 3 network. It's highly annoying and doesn't seem to matter which music player is used, power saver on or off and volume low or high on the phone or external speaker via an auxiliary cable. The same cable might I add I used for months for my S3. This just adds to annoying aspects to the s5 and I'm already looking for alternatives to Samsung even though my contract still has 23 months left! A fix for this is needed and will send the handset back for replacement if I have to!
They're was a setting inside one of the system files you could edit to help with the popping sound. I'll try to find the thread and post it up.
OK thanks. I have reluctantly factory reset and the noise is still there sometimes so others have found reset doesn't work. Will look at settings if you can find the thread.
I can't find it but I know it had to do with the mixer_paths.xml file. I'm just not sure what needed to be edited. I'll keep looking tho.
I'm having the same problem . Only when I skip to the next song and it is only out of the left channel.
Popping sound when skipping songs
Have you tried enabling the equaliser in settings under audio effects, as this has resolved the issue for me.
I have the problem as well. Its freaking ridiculous. I thought it was my music player for the longest time. I don't believe I had the issue when I first got the phone, but I really don't remember. I don't have power saving on and it doesn't happen all the time either. But it only happens at song changes or pause/unpause. I get the same double pop as nathandias described. Its bothering me a ton.
i was thinking it would be nice if people recorded the sound (standard audio cable from phone jack to line-in or mic of a computer)
it would be strange for it to be happening across such varied android versions (start of thread is when 4.4 was used, you can have 6 now with cyanogenmod, 5.1.1 from samsung, etc)
Hi,
I have the same problem, it's really annoying! I cannot understand why not much more people are complaining about this. It shouldn't be a problem in a Smartphone today! My Samsung S III didn't have this issue.
I made a video so you can see what we are talking about: Link deleted Unfortunately, I am not allowed to post a link here. You find it on Youtube entitled "Samsung S5 SM-G900F, popping sound between songs".
Did anyone find a solution? Thank you.
Hi. OP was a while ago! The solution was to use a logitech Bluetooth reciever connected to my 5.1 speaker system. Turns out it stops the annoying noise and for me with my s5 had better and louder sound quality. Well worth the purchase!
