[Q] Galaxy S II 3g Data Bands Clarification - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey just want to be sure before i spend $700 on a phone.
I have Nexus One At&T model and am looking to buy the GS II. I live in Costa Rica here the 3g bands are on the 850mhz frequencies same as AT&T. If I buy the unlocked version i9100 it will work on the 3g correct? The specs on Samsung site say it will just want to be sure.
Thanks

I don't know about costa rica, but we get 3g speeds for att in usa. So if your carrier uses same 3g bands as att usa you should be good.

K cool yeah. My AT&T nexus one works great here with 3g so GSII should too.
Thanks!

galaxy s II works on tmobile 4g network usa??

I am really itching to get this phone, as my contract is going to be done within weeks. I know that the EU version wont support tmobile 4g. How about the Canadian version??? the bell/ virgin galaxy s II 4g. Would this version work tmo usa??
Check the bands. Google it. If they're the same then it will work. AT&T's 4G network will work with European and Canada's will also I believe.

that's the problem, I am new to this stuff and willing to learn. Let's start with what BAND is, and how do I check that BAND.
I am not 100% sure. But I believe that it well not work on T-Mobile USA 4G network. It uses different frequencies. If the SGS II ever comes out on Rogers then it will work on T-Mobile USA.

You are right. And once the merger goes through the T-Mobile 3 and 4g phones wont work on 3 or 4g. This was already stated by att and tmobile

By that time the Galaxy S III will come out lol. But I will definitely love the HSPA+ speeds on my SGS II.
If you really want it either:
1) Switch to AT&T, you will get 4G speeds
2) Wait for the Samsung Hercules to come out on T-Mobile (Should be this or next month)
In the end, all people who buy T-Mobile phones now will eventually suffer later on. ;D

can i9100 work on Tmobile's 3g & 4g today?

I know that it couldn't 5 months ago,but I don't know if it works today...
And if the international version doesn't work on Tmobile 3g and 4g, how about the Tmobile version of Galaxy S2(T989)?

Unfortunately it still doesn't work now and for the unforeseeable future it wont ever work.
Luckily the tmobile sgs2 does work on tmobiles network.
nope i got mine in europe and the antenna hardware acquires different frequency than the one in the US. Just google search "T-mobile frequency"
I thought there was a version from asia that had a aws band. And are any of you using the europe one on T-Mobile? If so how are slow is 2g?

ok!I give up buying the international version since I live in The US......
So,how about ATT version(i777)?does it work on Tmobile 3g and 4g?
It's just because ATT version is cheaper, and so is Tmobile's plan.

You're in the wrong forum, but since this is a pretty generic question, I'll answer it. Yes, the phone should work fine as long as it is unlocked. There is no guarantee you will get 4g or HSDPA coverage, that would depend on the carrier and the band frequency they use. If 3g or 4g matters to you, I suggest you find out what band frequencies your carrier uses and compare that with what the i727 skyrocket supports.
The slow rockets are coming again! run for cover!
The wall served a purpose and should be restored.

GT-I9300 on T-Mobile

I just want to know if my Galaxy S3 will work with T-Mobile, because next month I will go to NY, Orlando and Miami. I want to buy a T-Mobile sim and use it on a prepaid plan. I'm Brazilian and my S3 is the international version, GT-I9300. It will work well? Will I use 3G data normally? Thanks.

Yes, as long as you are buying the SIM in the US, it will work just fine.

Using Stock Verizon S4 in Costa Rica

I'm heading to Costa Rica for a couple of months. Can I use my stock Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 with a Costa Rica Sim Card or does it need to be rooted and unlocked? While I'm on the subject, I have the same question about Thailand since I'm heading there in the next year. Thanks!
I could not get my Vz S4 to work in Costa Rica on anything but WiFi.

The I545 is not sim locked. If your Costa Rican carrier uses a GSM band that matches the bands that the phone uses, it'll work.
Without a local SIM it's not likely to work at all.

That's what I thought/hoped. Thank you for confirming that. Does anyone know what bands are used in Costa Rica?

I was in Costa Rica over the summer and used my phone with one of their carrier's sim cards. After setup it worked fine. I don't recall what bands they used though.

Thanks zamboniman87... I read somewhere last night that the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 used GSM 850/1900 and the Costa Rica carriers are on GSM 1800 but if your Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 worked, then I'm thrilled! Thank you so much!
We have 850 and 2100. Lte on its way...
