[Q] Case-mate Pop - HTC EVO 3D

Does anyone know anything about this case? It's not showing up on the Case-mate website, but they have it here in stock ready to ship. Has a kickstand and I was just wondering if anyone has this or has any more info on it.
19.99 + 3.95 shipping. Not bad. It's selling for 29.95 everywhere else. I'm going to buy it, but I was just hoping that someone that if someone has it I can know what to expect. Thanks guys!

i just saw this yesterday on ebay, but i do not like the front back snap of the case, i bought the $35 Platinum with kickstand from best buy instead. The kickstand isn't the best, but the case slides on top and bottom, much more secure against drops. Plus its the exact case that seidio is going to release, they make the Platinum series for best buy. Doesn't bother me that i can't charge while in kickstand mode, maybe there will be "slim-head" chargers to accommodate for it in the future.

just got in my casemate tough, pop, barely there. pop is easily the worst of the bunch.
-pros
feels more durable than the tough
kickstand
-cons
thicker than tough
black and gray accents not really nice looking, imo
kickstand is a small flimsy piece of plastic. looks VERY easy to break
-worst con
dont know if it was just me but once i stuck my 3d in, it couldnt come out. was prying on my evo3d for 5 mins to get it out, back cover actually popped off while still in case. had to pry off that very carefully since it was so thin it might break.

Thanks. Sounds like this isn't a very good case. I'm glad I got it for $20. I will buy another if I don't like it, but from your description it sounds like I won't. I like to be able to easily get my phone out of the case. I also have a TPU case on the way. I do like to be able to easily interchange cases depending on what I am doing and if it is really that hard to get it out if this thing I think it may be a dust collector.

I saw it at the sprint kiosk yesterday. It didn't look too appealing. Looked like it had a rubber sleeve that fit inside the actual case part. The kickstand looked cheap. And it was 40 bucks! The guy pulled out like 15 cases. I walked away with the smoke honeycomb tpu case. Fits like a glove.
Sent From The Second SHOOTER On The Grassy Knoll!

They start to look like crap after a week or 2. The silicone starts peeling and cracking and stretches out. I went through 2 replacements before finally getting my money back. This was for my Thunderbolt though.

Had one on my hd2, scratched the hell out if it. Also the corners cracked off. Will never buy case mate again

It's one piece, not a snap on. Search YouTube for EVO 3d pop case for a video of it.
It does look pretty thick...

The only case I've ever had that I liked better then the casemate pop is the Speck CandyShell. I dont see the point in leaving the sides pure silicone, I'd like to see it completely enclosed like the candyshell is. Speck must have a patent on that design or something because no one else ever makes them like that. I wouldn't be surprised to see Speck put one out for the Evo 3D either. But this White/Grey Casemate Pop is sick.. it really is. Highly recommend it. Only downside so far is it does add some weight and it doesnt fit in the iGrip dock like my TPU cases will.

I should be receiving mine tomorrow. I've noticed any case with a kickstand is bulky. I tried the Platinum one from BB and it added bulk as well but the kickstand was flimsy. Even from the pix I've seen, the official HTC case looks bulky. It might just be something we have to live with if we want a kickstand on this phone. I had a nice red Amzer snap-on case for my OG Evo and it felt like nothing was added to the phone. If they can make one like that with a kickstand, we'd be good to go.

Anyone noticed that when using the kick stand, the charging port goes to the bottom? Not a huge deal but for those who watch lots of youtube or movies...

With the new pics and people posting their reviews that actually have the case I am glad I bought this now. I bought the black and grey one and it hopefully will be here late this week or early next week. It just shipped yesterday and the estimated delivery is the 13th, but I think it will be here before that. I will post pics of the black and grey one when I get it.

Case Mate For Evo 3d?

Just wanted to see if anyone has any of the Case Mate series cases for the Evo 3d? I was thinking about getting the Tough case, but from a video review on youtube, the case apparently has a random port on the bottom...

Maybe I will have to reconsider, I would still like to see some more people weigh in. I have the OB Defender right now, and its excellent protection wise just a bit bulky...
The convert from seidio/BB is pretty awesome two good cases plus a nice clip. This is until I can get the ballistic case

I have the Tough Case, just delivered today. It's similar in design to the Otterbox Commuter -- a thin silicone base layer covers the entire phone, while a hard plastic shell snaps around the back, sides and corners.
Pros: The fit is absolutely perfect. The silicone layer over the buttons is just the right thickness -- the power, volume and camera buttons are all covered, but their function is not impeded in the slightest. I was particularly delighted by how well the camera button works, no interference with function or sensitivity at all.
Around the front edge, the silicone layer rises a few millimeters above the screen, so you can comfortably place the phone face down without worrying about scratching the glass. Similarly, the camera lenses and flash are deeply recessed on the back, with perfectly sized openings around each (which, IMO, is how the lenses should've been on the phone itself). You can drag your phone across concrete with no worries, if that's the kind of thing you're into.
The hard plastic outer layer has a smooth matte coating that makes it feel more like silicone than hard plastic, giving it a very nice feel in the hand. It's also covered with a raised, textured pattern, making the phone very unlikely to slip out of your hand. By contrast, the Otterbox Commuter I briefly had on my Hero had a plastic outer shell that was slick and shiny, and the phone slipped out of my hand twice within the two days I left it on (which is why I used it only briefly).
Cons: My only real complaints are aesthetic. I really like the slim, refined look of this phone, and the grippy, textured, matte black surface of this case, while very protective and easy to hang on to, is a tad inelegant, giving the phone more of an industrial feel. It also adds a bit of bulk, which was immediately noticeable when I pocketed the phone with it on (although I will say it's positively svelte compared to some of the other cases I've seen pictured on this forum). The phone does also feel noticeably heavier with this case on.
In response to the OP, the case does have a couple of mysterious ports at the bottom. One lines up with the slot you use to pry the battery cover off, while a smaller one lines up with a tiny hole just to the left of the other (edit: duh! that's the mike, thanks minieod). I don't know why those are there, but they don't do any harm.
Overall, I'd say thumbs up. If you like the basic design of Otterbox cases but want something slimmer than the Defender and easier to hold than the Commuter, this is probably your best choice.
I have the casemate "barely there" case on my OG Evo. I have been using it since shortly after launch and it has been just the right amount of protection without adding a lot of bulk. I keep my phone in a pocket with nothing else so that case helps with day to day wear and more importantly it makes it so the camera glass doesn't touch the table when the phone is laying on its back.
I am thinking of picking up an Evo 3d for my girlfriend in order to replace her dying palm Pre but she is pretty rough on phones. She drops hers a lot and throws it in her purse with keys and change and stuff. The thought of getting her a "glass slab" style phone frightens me. I will probably pick up a barely-there case for the Evo 3d if I get it for her. It's weird that they don't list them on their site but that mobilecity site seems to have them in a few colors for $15. That's a good price IMO and my last one came with a free screen protector. Hopefully that will be enough to protect her phone.
I guess I can also cancel the insurance on my Evo and move it to her 3d if I get it since my account is due for upgrade and hers won't be for two years if i get her the 3d.

that "mysterious hole" on the left of the phone you'll want to remain uncovered --- unless you'd rather not talk to anyone ---- thats the microphone
other than that i totally agree with you on the case - i got it at the sprint store and i LOVE it
i had the TPU case from the user who posted on here earlier in june (forgot your username sorry!) and sold them on tpu-cases.com or something like that... it was 8 bucks shipped, and great quality for tpu
but i tried this on when i was waiting at the store picking up my moms evo3d for her bday gift.... and decided to get the case-mate tough, and give her my tpu one
the casemate tough is sleek....i dont agree with po96 on the "inelegant" , because its pretty similar to the style of the battery cover on the 3d....
i like it a lot, and it feels very solid and protected....
i used to use the otterbox commuter on my evo4g and loved it, but i really hated the new design for the 3d....

So sounds like you like it better than the Otterbox. I am currently using the Commuter and love the feel of it (didn't feel slippery to me, has a nice texture) but hate the gap at the top. I am getting a new silicone layer from Otterbox to see if that one fits better. I think I might order the Tough Case as well and compare the two. Overall would you say its thinner than the Commuter?
I wish I could find the Tough Case in stores to give it a test before purchasing. I hate having to buy online and pay return costs for shipping if I don't like it but I guess that's what I'll have to do.
*update* Just ordered a Tough Case. There is a 20% off code for their online store: CM06-SP20. The online store has free shipping to US addresses and didn't charge me tax, so $28 total for the tough case (originally $35). Not bad! If I don't like it I can just pay return shipping. I might just keep it for a backup.

Anyone know if either the tough case or the barely there case will fit into the belt holster for the Seido Surface case(aka the plaitunum case at Best Buy)?
I'm currently using a TPU case in the Platinum holster because I like the added camera area coverage of the TPU case. I just hate the camera button covering of the TPU case.
The Case Mate cases look great but I really need a belt clip with them.

Case I ordered

I got this one and I am really liking it. It comes in different colors but I went for the white and grey. What ya think??
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wir...rganic&utm_term=CM015755&utm_campaign=froogle
I heard its hard to take the case off, is that the case? also does it seem to add more bulk then the other cases?
I'm looking for a case that adds minimum bulk but also has a kick stand.
Yea man those look nice. A few people on here have them and said they like them. A girl that works where I do has that case on her Thunderbolt. It is pretty nice and fits tight. Hers comes off just fine, it is tight, but it isnt a problem to take it off. I like the one you have. I've considered getting that one in the same color combo
It is snug but not where I feel like I will break something taking it off which is how I wanted it to fit. As far as bulk, for the quality it feels great to me and does not weigh the phone down or add too much to it thickness wise. I do not usually get too excited about cases but I can definitely recommend this one. It was $19.99. The other cool thing is the kickstand actually "clicks" in and out so it stays in place as well. Again, two thumbs up here. Picked it up from mobilecityonline.
Any other questions let me know!

So the kickstand feels solid? That has ben my biggest concern about a kickstand case.

The kickstand is plastic so it is not as solid as the one on the original evo per say, but from my use of it I do not see it breaking by no means. Under normal use it seems to be fine to me. One other thing I forgot to mention is it protects the camera lenses very well too which has been a concern of mine since my old evo. This is one of the best cases I have ever owned for any phone as far as fit, finish and price.
I am supposed to be receiving my mhl cable today which I am dying to get and see how well the e3d does on my big screen tv. I feel like a kid on Christmas eve again..........
Is it just a piece of plastic that protects the camera or does it have cut outs for the lenses?
cut outs, but they are out far enough so you can lay it down without scratching the lenses
OK thanks... But it doesn't look like it has a hole for the speaker does it?
I was also wondering if it covered all the ports on the phone?
No hole for the speaker. I have the black case and it adds too much thickness for my tastes. Also, the kickstand isn't too solid and probably won't hold up.

Where is the charging port when the kick stand is out? On the bottom?

Trident Kraken II

Order one in red and it came today....i must say i am very impressed with this...i had an otterbox on my evo4g and didn't like it...the kick stand wasn't as sturdy and after a while the rubber got loose(thats what she said lol)and the power button had to be fiddled with on the case to make it hit the actual button on the phone...this case by trident seems better with the reversed design(soft sleeve under the hard outer shell). and it looks great on the phone!!!!!

The size is similar, but I believe the Cyclops is slightly larger.
Trident advantages are mainly the ability to be able to touch the screen edge and no more lint on your case. But the lack of soft rubber on the outside does make it quite a bit less grippy.
Overall I think the Cyclops leaves the Defender defenseless.
This case is the best case I have seen out for our phones to date. I absolutely love it. Kickstand is rock solid and the case just feels nice in your hand. Most important it can slide in and out of your pocket easily!
Pros-
Camera button works well
Kickstank is the best I have seen
Screen and camera protectors ( I don't use them but they look well done for someone who uses them )
Hard outside case slides in pocket well
Cons-
Sometime hard to open charge port cover
I will post pictures of it next to my defender and commuter otter box cases for comparison ... The kraken is maybe a slight bit thicker than the defender but unnoticeable really

Does the Kraken II have a dust filter over the speaker ports (both the earpiece and the speakerphone)? I'm currently using the Otterbox Defender, and I'm getting tired of having to open it up to clean dust from between the screen and the case.
Also, can the holster be used to hold the phone with the screen facing out? I've set my Otterbox holster in the car to hold the phone that way for convenience.

The best part of using otterbox is there warranty is the best yet. They will replace your case and holster and let you keep your old one. Trident warranty is slow and a pain.
The holster on the kraken is pretty small. From the pic. I just got one on ebay for 25 bucks.

How is the holster part from the pic I seen of it looks tiny? Does it hold the phone in place pretty well? Im hoping since the holster is so tiny I don't catch it on something and have the phone pop out.
My phone popped out once....but I'm a rough guy...mechanic by trade so me scooting on the floor under a car and having my phone come out of the clip isn't so uncommon no matter what case it is. My mom ordered a kraken for her 3vo and the clip broke...from its first use...have yet to hear back from trident about hers

Review: OtterBox Commuter with Pictures

I love my Evo LTE, it is an awesome phone! When I bought it though I received the horrible news that TEP from Sprint had gone up as well as the Asurion Deductible. Normally I don't like cases because I like to keep my phone sleek but with this in mind I had to buy one. I opted for the OtterBox Commuter (I bought on Amazon for a little over $20 shipped). So I thought I'd hit you guys up with a review just in case anybody is on the fence about what case to get.
Overall:
I liked the tight fit, the good amount of protection without the bulk, and the fact that the kickstand is perfectly accesible and usable in both directions Plus it's relatively cheap. Check attached images. I had no problems with any of the cutouts for microphone or the back camera. Also the charging port and headphone jack coverings worked fairly well. They were a bit bothersome, mainly the headphone jack, depending on the size of the plug but overall they're pretty good.
Fit:
I must say this case has a TIGHT fit on my phone! It is not loose anywhere and the silicone is actually pretty tight on there unlike other two layer cases I've tried. It is tight enough that no dust has gotten underneath it to the case which I hate when cases do that! Also all the buttons are unaffected by the case and I like the feel they have with it on. Oh and the kickstand can still be used both ways, port up or down!
Size:
The case hasn't added much bulk at all. I still think this phone is pretty thin with the case on. I took a picture next to an Evo 3d with no case on just for size comparison and as you can see, this case adds little to no bulk.
Protection:
I feel my phone is pretty well protected. I already got past the 1st scary fall yesterday when I dropped it running down some stairs :/ but my phone was not harmed at all, neither was my case. Obviously it's not meant to be a hardcore heavy duty run over with a car case (as rumored with some Ballistics) but it's a good balance between protection and keep it thin.
Screen Protector:
I personally don't like screen protectors too much. It seems unnecessary for this phone with Gorilla Glass but it's still a nice gesture for it to be included. I installed it for demonstration purposes since many people with screen protectors had problems with proximity sensor. The protector included in the case had the cutout for the proximity sensor which was definitely a plus. I also noticed it's a pretty hard screen protector and feels almost like bare glass, but I still don't plan on keeping it for long lol
The Bad:
The only bad thing I've found so far is that the silicone is a little bit of a dust magnet. It hasn't gotten too serious to where it bothers me but it's just something to note.

This is what I hate about silicone. Also, it ends up making it difficult to pull out of your pocket because of how sticky/tacky it is. Thanks for the review.

Great review buddy. I get the lint all around the edge of the screen's silicone also. Anyone have any good cleaning tips for getting lint and dust off the silicone parts?

I dont normally like to put cases on phones either but this phone...i dont know I had the overwhelming urge to put a case on it. Now i was going to go wit ha normal regular hard shell case off of ebay for 5 bucks but..no.. not this time. I got the otterbox commuter aswell. Truth be told I was worried about the silicone not fitting perfectly but to my surprise it fits damn well. Plus the case feels good in the hand. I actually like how the phone feels with the case on. i did put the screen protector on because look at it this way. $600 phone with ''gorilla glass''..... youre really not going to do anything to protect it? Gorilla glass is scratch resistant not scratch proof. My opinion is youve gotta have a few screws loose if youre not going to put a screen protector on the phone.
over all great case, feels good, doesnt add bulk.
The defender however...makes the phone huge
I rocked my OG for two years with every rugged case u could think of and never worried about the phone. The last month I had the phone I had it naked as all of my cases were breaking on me. I loved how great the Evo felt naked and how easy it was to slip it into my pocket. Anywho, I ended up dropping it and shattering the screen. I bought the new Evo and slapped the Commuter on it before leaving BB. I thought the Defender was way too big for pocket use (I'm over the belt clip thing). It maintains the sleekness of the OG Evo, so, I love it! The included screen protector is pretty good too surprisingly. Not a single complaint from me!
Yeah I have actually kept this case on and been loving it. The case adds a really nice feel to my phone and I honestly like the look it gives my phone. I have yet to try the defender but when I do ill do a write up on it as well

I love the review. I'm actually about to switch from the defender to the commuter case. Getting tired of the extra bulk and the rubber on the defenders seem to tear rather quickly. I had the same tearing prob when I had a defender on my e3d. Had the e3d defender replaced twice. So again thanks for the review picking up a commuter case tomorrow.
Bought the same case as soon as I got my phone, beat case hands down still nice and thin the dust magnet I agree but its protective and not heavy ! It was cheap too off amazon. The port cover is clever

I had the Defender on my phone from day one. I just ordered this one. It looks a little slimmer and will fit my pocket better. Thanks for the review.

I have the defender case and the rubber over the charging port keeps breaking off. Does that happen with the commuter case?

Yeah spot on review I feel the same way about my commuter case. I had the defender for my OG EVO but I like the feel and look of the commuter on my LTE so much better

[Review] Incipio Feather

Haven't seen anyone show pics of the Incipio Feather for our Evo LTE so thought I'd post a quick review. I have had the Diztronic case on my Evo since the first day I bought it. It is a great case and protects fairly well but I found myself taking the phone out and carrying it naked due to how good it looks without a case. So once I saw the feather was out for the Evo I had to get it.
The Incipio Feather is a little more expensive than the Diztronic, $20 vs $10 with a coupon but worth it in my opinion. It is a hard shell that snaps on but is just as thin if not thinner than the Diztronic. I figured the hard shell might also help in avoiding the phone bend that some have had. The Incipio has a very smooth matte finish which complements the Evo very well.
The Feather covers the entire back and the sides of the phone. There are cutouts for the volume buttons, camera button and charging port. One great advantage of the Incipio is that the power button is not covered so it is much easier to press than with the Diztronic. I've attached pictures that show all angles of the case. The bottom lip of the case extends past the bottom part of the phone and the top part of the cover extends to the same level as the phone. Lastly the sides do not extend past the screen but rather at the same level. That is if you place the phone screen down on a flat surface it doesn't elevate the screen. This is a downside but the phone looks so good I have no desire to take it off. Please let me know if anyone has any questions.. Thanks
Which ROM are you running? Is it bug free? Thanks for the review by the way.

I meant questions about the case. Lol. No prob though, I'm running cleanromDe. Quite honestly its the best ROM for me. I love nova and being able to customize the launcher so I don't need sense. I have lots of free memory and no lag. I would def recommend trying it out if you haven't

Looks pretty nice. I was kinda hoping it was raised above the screen a bit.
Does the strip above the volume buttons feel flimsy at all? That was my biggest complaint with the Cruzerlite Androidify.
My wife is getting on me about having too many cases so the next one I get has to be my last and has to be the best lol.

The strip by the volume buttons feels very sturdy and doesn't bend with moderate pressure. I don't want to press too hard and have it break but it is definitely not flimsy.

Both of these are very similar to the Spigen hard case I purchased and had at the ready before my LTEvo arrived in the mail.
(Not allowed to post links yet, as I'm new here, but it is Spigen's snap case for the Evo 4G LTE)
It is basically the smoothest case I've seen for any phone, and looks like the photo when mounted in real life. Unfortunately, the corner strip where the volume rocker is was a bit too fragile. My case broke at that spot less than 2 days of owning it, and I've since read reviews complaining about the same thing.
It's been mentioned that the Incipio feels pretty sturdy in that area, but I'm still wary of that, especially if these cases are made of polycarbonate like the one I purchased.
-Tom
I was rockin the sgp version as well. Loved it. But.
It's to fragile, it cracked when i was trying to take it off. Also, it isn't very grippy, and i always feel like it's going to slip out of your hand. Scratches pretty easily to. It's all rubbed where it rests on a table. From vibrating when it rings.
Ordered the incipio feather, and ngp. Will compare them with the spigen when they arrive tomorrow.
Where did you order the feather from? I can't find it on their website or Amazon. I jumped the gun on one last week and misread the item so I ended up with one for the OG Evo.
