Google Music - HTC EVO 3D

how are you guys with google music invites experiencing the playback with the app with the 3D?
I feel like if I am in my car at all then I have streaming problems on songs that aren't cached, where I pretty much cant listen to my music because it is buffering slower than it takes for the song to play.
Just wondering what others are experiencing.

Yeah pretty much the same thing for me.
Sometimes I can get by with 3g but other times I'll have to turn on 4g. All my music is on Google Music though so it can be a little annoying.

and its also weird because i get by just fine with pandora, which is also streaming music.

Works fine for me.

Working great for me. Though I do use 4g all the time anyway. I found one spot where it cuts out a bit when I drive through, but overall it's been excellent. (Also, I have caching turned off just to note.)

Google music streams at a higher bitrate possibly....n you should consider the make available offline option if you are taken planned trips......
Plus its a beta so it may be growing pains
Bussin Caps n 3D

I've found it is completely dependent on my data speed. In areas with 4G or good 3G speeds it works great. In areas with marginal 3G it's pretty painful to listen. In those areas I usually just pause the song and let it buffer to 100% and then start playing again (meanwhile it seems like it starts buffering the next song).

Works fine for me on 3g. Streaming 45min-1hr at a time on my commute to and from work. It always lags a little starting the first song, bit once its playing I'm golden.
From the 3rd dimension in wireless...

I feel like it's totally unreliable, one minute it plays fine, the next it's a streaming choppy piece of crap. I can't wait for google to get on their **** with this, and fix it. Then they could remove the beta label, but knowing Google, that could be years away...

What is your most significant problem with the EVO 3D?

I like my EVO 3D but realize it isn't perfect however some things may be fixable via an update.
Since some barely talk on their phone and use text while other barely text etc. I'm curious what effects the most people?
I've experienced a few of the items listed but not all. I'll admit even if the picture quality isn't great I use my phone so infrequently it won't really bother me ever but I thought I'd include the most common issues people post about.
Mine is the speaker phone. I don't make many "real" calls, but I do make about 10 or 15 calls to automated systems a day. I have enter strings of 24 digits at a rip then listen to what the system says. It's so much easier on speaker phone but a lot of times I have hold the speaker up to my ear to hear them. I've used equalizer, but really the phone just needs a bigger speaker.
I have my gf set the alarms in am on her cheap prepaid phone because that thing is twice as loud as my mega superphone.
Everything else will be fixed with cm7!
Camera freezing after taking a photo. The issue is rather random and I never had the issue before applying the OTA. I'm willing to wager that another software update can patch this.
Battery life was a huge issue for me till I got the Airrave. I think this is caused by the reception problem on this phone. So I'd probably say the choppy call quality (or lack there of) is the biggest issue next to dropped calls for me. These may all be related but since I bought a phone I would think that is what they'd make sure works properly.

use QPST to raise the volume, there is a post around here showing you how to do it.
My biggest problem with the EVO3D would have to be the *****ing that seems to follow it everywhere.
My biggest problem is no problems.
The only issue I have had is the GPS jumping all over the place, I *think* mostly when it is plugged in to the charger at the same time. Haven't seen a lot of talk about it, so this is what it does.
I can be going down the interstate at 75, no turn for 75 miles, and it will start telling to turn right, turn left, turn left, back on interstate for 75 miles. Then 10 seconds later it jumps me over to random road 1/2 mile away and tells me to turn, turn, turn, turn, then continue on for 74 miles. Etc. It happens in any nav program, Sygic, Google nav, telenav, etc. So it has to be hardware related, and seems to happen the most when it is plugged in to the car charger at the same time?? Anyone else?
Brew
It is interesting to see the results. I would think the choppy phone quality would be numer one but it is clear the speaker volume is the more common concern?
Would any of you be willing to say if the speaker problem is a bigger issue for phone calls or for other functions e.g. games/videos etc.
Were is the option for nothing
My GPS is flawless and I've never had it reboot on me once.
Everything else listed is a problem though.
Calls drop, constant 3g-4g switching even though I have a stronger 4g signal, overheating after about 5 minutes of playing any game or media file, low volume...and sometimes just a flat out unresponsive touch interface (doesn't respond to touching certain areas of the screen...sometimes).
Hey, it's a great gps but a chud stain phone.

Just switched to the 3d from the OG EVO... One thing jumps out to me is the ringers, notifications, movie/video playback etc is super duper low compared to the first evo and I don't wanna sound like a noob but the font size on the apps are smaller oh and call quality is bad, some of my contacts are linking with the wrong names, the wallpaper has a cropping bug and i still get the sense crash from time to time, but with all that said its still a better phone that my OG EVO
S/N: battery life is a bit better but Im still going to purchase a extended battery

Smaller text is due to a larger resolution right?
For me it's definitely either the cellular/data radio or sprints (lack of) service. At home I get on average of 1-2 bars and at work, 0 (no service) - 1 bars. Makes for extremely piss poor battery life as well as extremely delayed and troublesome texts/calls/notifications.
Hmmm let's see no s-off
Wait a minute we have it now and like 9 roms to go with it all problems with is phone are officially fixed

Once you create a poll, you can't edit or add to it.
My only prob is that I can't get the phone out of my hand.
Locked & Loaded
I'm hoping an xda developer figures a way to fix some of these items so we don't have to wait for HTC to figure them out. The things I'd love as a priority for an xda version would be better signal/call quality and tethering.
Problems? We dont have no stinkin problems! The Evo 3D has worked perfectly for me so far (6 more days on 30 day return...)
You want problems, move to T-Mo and buy a G2x!

[Q] Multitasking and Phone Calls

Anyone else notice that while listening to music, watching a video, or playing a game and you answer a phone call, after the call the app is closed and you have to reopen it?
The most common situation for me is I have my phone on a holder in my car. I have my Spotify playing off my phone then a phone call comes in. After I hang up, Spotify isn't paused or anything, it's completely closed.
On my old Nexus S 4G, anything I was doing prior to answering a call would immediately resume after I hung up.
Is this a Sense 4 "feature" or is this ICS? Sorry, I had an iPhone 4S for about 6 months so I've been away from Android for awhile.

Not yet, regularly stream BT, Loaded MP3s, Pandora, Xm etc, calls come and go, in car, out of car, goes right back to where I was previously. Works perfectly actually.
It happens if you take forever in a call cause of the ways HTC d program multitask background kill but yeah i guess it could be annoying for some people

In fact I was on a call for 20 minutes with... you guessed it my mother. Once she hung up, I was able to continue with music. Tried again later when I spoke with a friend on my way home from work. No issue so far.
Also while in the car (not driving this time, my girlfriend was) I was talking and was browsing on the Internet. Still no issues. Thought it was going to clip on the 3G network. Still no LTE yet here, but any day now is the word here.

Can you stream music with the Gear S, without your phone?

Not a deal breaker, but for any of you out there with a Gear S in hand, can you stream Pandora or anything else with this watch? If I left my phone in the car and went running, all I have is my watch and a bluetooth headset, would I still be able to listen to internet music... I am guessing with further Itzen development here on XDA, that one day will be possible if it isn't already.
So far, not right now. However, I imagine this could be coming to the watch down the road.
Yes, you can stream music, but as of right now only using the Milk music app.

Yeah if tizen gave us Pandora or another music app that would be terrific milk music for now
The is a "tunein" app made for tizen. Tunein is an Internet streaming radio wich I use a lot on my phone.

would love if you could use google music on it. then i wouldnt need to drag my phone out at the gym.
So I got the Gear S! Tmobile received 4 and held one for me since I had issues getting a White Note 4 from them. I got the MILK app but it just acts as a remote for the phone! It doesn't stream to the watch itself.

Hum.. T-mobile says stream milk app is free maybe that only works on the phone itself (The free streaming part)
omg, i just got it. The first time i tried to stream from the watch, i turned off bluetooth so it be be a standalone, MILK gave me an error saying it couldn't connect to bluetooth device and it quit. but i didn't know it had wifi, so now i'm connected to wifi and it's working. I assume it will work on 3G as well, I'm not in a good area for data, so i basically get Edge network.

I'll pitch in on this one, I took it today for a run as standalone and for the 7 miles that I ran the battery went from 97% to 49% at the end of the run which was 1 hour long. I received a call that played about a minute lol and numerous email notifications. That being said I say that it will probably last at the most 2 hrs as a standalone with everything turned on and streaming music. Hope this help!
PS. The built in hr monitor is not very accurate and I think the GPS is a little bit off, but I'll have to check with my previous runs on endomondo.

I found the gps to be pretty accurate on my runs. I'm planning on wearing my polar hrm to see how accurate the hrm is. However, if it is like the gear fit was it is going to seem kinda erratic during the workout, but the end results will compare nicely to the polar.

I'm not very concerned with battery life. I have plenty of opportunities to charge the watch during the day. Especially since the charging dock is a battery too. Sure is a great feature for this little watch.

Do you ever have issues with it streaming Milk in "standalone" mode? I can not get it to stream, it only sits at the Milk splash screen weather on Wifi or 4G,(it does play on the phone when connected to Bluetooth). I have called Samsung and T-Mobile but no one has any idea how to fix. Samsung actually tried to tell me that Milk was discontinued and no longer supported, I guess he was out of trouble shooting ideas and wanted to get me off the phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the only reason I bought it and decide to leave my Moto 360 on the nightstand.
^ To be honest the only problem that I have had is that sometimes the app hangs and I lose audio for a little bit and then it comes back. Where I run there are a couple of spots where the signal is weak and I think that's what happen when it hangs. Other than that I have had not issues, but I haven't use Milk al that much.
How is your data usage streaming milk to run?

N9 Audio Feedback & Noise??

Hello all, some background first...
I'm having some audio problems with my N9.. It's a black, 32Gb, wifi only version, rooted and running pretty much a stock rom... 'Lollipopalooza', I believe.. (Nice by the way)
I bought it on Amazon about two or three weeks ago for $429, plus I received the $50 Google Play Store credit. Good deal, or so I thought.
Ok so... Like the title says, I'm getting audio feedback, noise, popping, and a sort of skipping effect, while streaming music and surfing the web, loading a webpage, or opening an app.
It sounds a lot like 28k modem from 1996... This happens no matter what app or web stream, and really ruins the multitasking/tablet experience. My N7's (2012 and 2013), never did this.
Has anyone had this happen, and is there a fix?? Or should I return it for another one and cross my fingers??
P.S. I also have the 'flat buttons' issue and screen bleed too.. Thoughts?
Thanks for any "Feedback"... Lol
Its not just you, I have the exact same issue. Its like speaker lag or some ****. Between that and screen flicker this thing is pissing me off. I only really use it for web browsing and youtube, so those 2 issues are quickly making this thing a brick to me.

Plex freezing

The last few weeks plex has been almost unuseable if im launching it from the nexus player. It seems to do much better opening it on my pc and "casting" to the nexus. But if I open the app on the nexus it freezes about 10 seconds into a movie.
I have a hardwired nexus player, bandwidth isn't the issue. Been using my nexus for a year without issue until this.
Has anyone else been having issues with it?

Is it stuttering or just freezing up completely? Usually its a band with issue as the NP I have has zero issues since being hardwired.
It was freezing. Changed some settings and it's resolved it seems.
Still having the audio drop out bug that is also posted about on the plex forum

My suggestion was going to be mess with settings. Direct play and stream can have that affect. The audio drop out bug is that where about every 20 seconds or so there is a second of silence? If so I've noticed that as well since the last update. I was watching a 20gb mkv of Excalibur (1981) and every 20 seconds it would show a multicolor screen like a test screen. I rebooted the router as well as the Nvidia Shield android tv (my other box) and it got less but every ten minutes or so it would do it again.

Correct on the dropout. Oddly enough though, if instead of using the plex app on the nexus I use plex on my phone to initiate a "cast" from my pc to the nexus there is no audio dropout. It only happens if i use the plex app on the nexus.

Most problems are usually the app. For some reason casting is less buggy, although not as convenient and being wireless can tend to stutter if the quality is set too high, not to mention having to constantly restart the app on the tablet, etc. Maybe because when casting the source PC's resources are in play while using a "box" with limited RAM that can be taxed more easily? I don't know. I do know that the Nexus player as well as my Nvidia Shield ATV work great directly connected to the network (Fios 90/90) with no stuttering at all. I swear I use the Nvidia more than I watch cable, etc. It really is a revolutionary device as far as entertainment goes, with a Plex server as well as all that Kodi has to offer.

Agree that plex+kodi suits nearly all of our needs. We have 2 hardwired nexuses (nexii?) And are very happy with them.
Once the Nvidia drops look into that. It's a beast. No clicky remote, super fast, sd card slot, stream games from the PC, etc. There dropping in price quick too, although not as fast as the Nexus player did.
