50% off T-mobile of one in store accessory purchase - HTC EVO 3D

The coupon ends July 31st

The best thing you could get with this would be a screen protector for the Sensation, since theirs and ours are the exact same size screen. Anything else we could really get from this? I guess chargers as well but you're still getting gypped at half-off a $20 micro-usb charger. Amazon has good ones for way cheap.

I was thinking the same too. Screen protectors are $2 a dozen.

is the tmobile mhl the best adapter to get to display the evo on tv?
do you also need a power adapter plugged in / does it allow a power adapter to be plugged in?

What category is the MHL adapter under, I don't see it on the Sensation page?

Not at the 2 tmo retail stores I went to today w/coupon in hand. At one the rep was demoing his Sensation so I went to the car and grabbed my tmo mhl adapter and showed him what it was and he said where did I get it and I pointed at their webpage saying it was under Sensation accessories but it had been pulled off their website. He was a bit disappointed about that and tried to push the microusb hdmi to hdmi full-size cable but I pointed out to him that neither his Sensation nor my 3vo had that port and then he realized what the mhl adapter really was about at that point.

Thanks for the coupon. I'll be using it if they put the MHL adapter back up before the 31st. Or if I could find one in a store.
EVERY store I've called thinks the microHDMI to HDMI one works for the Sensation. Some training goes a long way.

Coupon worked perfectly... got my wire and works perfectly on the E3D ... playing games on the 55'LCD in 720p with perfect color and no lag ... WOW!! Ok ,, Cable only cost 10.81 with tax ... Thanks again OP

Does it not make more sense to buy the most expensive accessory they carry and pay full price for a 20 dollar accessory? Why not get a $100 dollar bluetooth headset for 50 bucks right?

to start with, many people dont need a bluetooth or other expensive accessory. secondly, why not print off two or three or ten coupons and just purchase things at different stores, or on different days if you want more than one thing.

To the above poster, you are correct about getting what you need, I just was saying....... Never mind ignore me.

It looks like it comes with an HDMI cable as well. It doesn't say so in the description, but after examining the picture, it looks like the empty port is micro usb, and that is an HDMI cable that comes with the adapter. At least I hope so for that price.
I still don't think it's a good deal, cause I don't need an HDMI cable, and if I did, I wouldn't pay an extra $20 for it. Plus I all ready bought the $20 T-Mobile MHL Adapter
I think the discription is a little repetitive as to what it is for.

Yeah, now I can't find it either. I checked a few hours ago and it was there. Sometimes it wouldn't show and you would have to go back and re-pick HTC, the Sensation, then scroll down to data. But that doesn't seem to do the trick anymore, so I dunno wtf.

Well, it is $35 more than the Samsung option. I found Samsung tablet cables for $5.
I really think ASUS should have included a cable to charge the dock with, i mean seriously what other device do you know of that takes a certain cable to charge it with that is not provided when you purchase the product... For the price you are paying for the dock.

Lame on ASUS's part in general with this whole situation. This is exactly how you do NOT want to launch a new product.
I agree... I'm very disappointed Asus didn't bundle an additional cable with the docking.
Especially because they decided to use proprietary port...
Agreed - for the $10 worth of parts in the dock & $150 price tag, they could've included the damn cable.
-bZj
Argh. F you ASUS. Speak of the devil. My charger *JUST* went out after owning this thing for only about 1.5 months. Fortunately the problem seems to be the power supply and not the cable itself. I can still connect to the tablet when the cable is plugged in to the PC. I guess off to drop $30 on a replacement supply.
Look for iPad compatible supplies at Amazon/eBay - should be a cheaper solution for just the wall wart.

I don't think an iPad charger will work. Others here have suggested that at least 11v are needed to charge the transformer at a reasonable rate (see for example, DevCake's thread on DIY charging solutions).
I've got a query into Powertraveller as to whether they've got a Tip/Adaptor on the way for the EeePad Transformer - I own both a Powermonkey and a Powergorilla.
It is annoying that they're using a proprietary connector!

Made worse by the fact that replacement cables are super hard to come by. Why would you make a proprietary cable... knowing damn well that everyone is going to want replacements, especially since the one they give you is only two feet long... and then not make them easily available to purchase?
This is the main complaint I have had with this tablet.

I just got mine from my local best buy. I looked all over the store and couldn't find it. They had them where they normally store their new phones at. Love the sleek design but not worth 50 bucks IMO.
Does it come with an MHL adapter? Or do you have to buy that over and above the $50 cost?
And I have been checking my local Best Buy stores, but they never have had them in stock. Out of frustration, I went into my local Sprint store to see if maybe they had them first. Nope. But the guy checked on it for me, and he found there was like 150 of them just sitting in a warehouse, with no ETA on when they will be shipped!!! And they had been just sitting in that warehouse for weeks!!!
Weird. My Sprint store had this in stock on day 1. Maybe it was a Evo 4G one.
In either case, does this work with the MHL adapter?
Saw the dock at Best Buy and was allowed to open up the box to check out the dock. It does NOT come bundled with a MHL adapter. The only items in the box were the dock, a wall usb adapter, and a micro usb cable to charge it. IMO it is definitely NOT worth $49.99

It does work with my tmobile MHL adapter, there is a video button that needs to be push to activate the hdmi output.
I got mine today as well. I am having problems with it though.
I will be playing a game, or an emulator and every 15-45 seconds the screen will flicker off then back on, and the sound will flicker back to the phone, then back to the TV once the screen comes back.
It does not seem to have this issue on the "main" phone screens or when I am in lesser video/sound intensive apps like mail clients etc.
If I disconnect the video dock and directly use the MHL Adaptor I have zero issues so I doubt the MHL adaptor is at fault.
Anyone else experiencing this who owns one? or did I get a dud?

Finally found one yesterday at another local BB than the one I normally go to. If you are in the Irving, Texas area, the South Irving BB, by the 183 (Airport Freeway) has about 3, and Lewisville BB has maybe 1 left, as I bought the other. I also bought that T-Mobile MHL adapter for their HTC Sensation. Using the 50% off coupon, link in the MHL post, I got it for only $10!
As I had a number of spare HDMI cables laying around, but not long enough individually, I also bought 2 Rocketfish HDMI couplers for about $29 each.
Sooooo, put it all together, pressed the button to enable docking mode and,.... and, .... NOTHING! The TV screen was blank! You would think that the HDMI out would work in dock mode, right? WRONG! I then tested the MHL direct into the phone, and I did get picture and sound on the TV. So was the dock defective in some way???!!!
Turned out, after near 30 minutes of futzing around and pulling hairs out, that by accident I found out it only worked in non-dock mode. Duh! How counter intuitive can you be?! So now it works, and fairly decently too.
Now those of you who might think the dock not worth the extra buckaroos, I personally love it! And those worried that the adapter in the dock might screw up your port on the phone? DON'T WORRY. It is an extremely smooth insert. Require zero pressure to put it in. You can darn near just lay the phone on the dock, and if positioned properly, gravity does the rest.
Now of course, my Platinum case won't fit on the dock. But it only takes a few seconds to remove or place it back on. So no biggy for me, unless you are someone THAT anal about things???
We just got some in at the Radioshack I work at and I definitely will never spend $50 on this. It's cool if you want your phone at an angle connected to a computer... big deal... and you still have to get the MHL adapter and an HDMI cable to get it on a tv. So, $50 for the dock, $30 for the adapter, $20 for the HDMI cable. $100!!!! Wasted!!!
Whatever you can do my E3D can do better!
NOW ON SALE AT BEST BUY $39.99

[Q] HTC MHL Adapter

I just got my HTC MHL adapter for my 3d, and my phone doesn't even recognize it. Has anyone else had this issue?
did you make sure you connected your charger to a power outlet? I made the same mistake when I got the one from T-Mobile!
Yes, I did attach the charger to it. The phone is charging, but doesn't output anything and the hdmi logo doesn't show up in the notification bar. I don't have to change any settings do I?
I didn't have to, I connected the charger that came with the phone, connected the HDMI to the tv, and then connected the adapter to the phone, changed the input settings on my tv, and my home screen showed up on the tv..... Maybe you got a defective one, but I can't say for sure. I know some people were having issues with not using the charger that came with the phone...
Thanks for your help. I will try it again.
My Tmobile MHL didn't recognize either at first, even with the power plugged in. I left everything plugged in, then just did a reboot. Worked fine after that.
Reboot worked like a charm, thanks!

According to the description on the monoprice site, the adapter has a micro-USB charging port on the side of the adapter.
I bought this one from Amazon since I have prime:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006V7F380/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
I have to have the regular usb power cable plugged into it for it to work with my TV and that charges my phone.
So it can also function as a 6ft power extender for charging if you don't use the HDMI part.
Happy with it for the price.
I have the HTC MHL adapter and I'm getting CRAZY lag when I play video games. I'm thinking it's sense, but I'm hoping it's the adapter.
Can any of the guys who bought an MHL cable try playing an nes/snes/genesis emulator while plugged in to the TV?
ya I'm getting a bunch of lag while playing HD video and audio cutting out with the Monoprice
update: seems that was a player issue? Was using MX player. Now I'm using Dice and and no lag.
monoprice....got that and a bright yellow hdmi cord for dirt cheap.
Anyone knows if those cables work on AOSP roms (cm10)?
