[Q] Onlive running on Gtablet? - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
As some of you may know Onlive recently released an app for the HTC Flyer.
From the bottom of: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138194
It has been exported and gotten to run on a number of devices, however I am unable to get it to run on the Gtabet. I am running a rooted stock rom with the enhancement pack.
When running the Onlive viewer app the screen turns black for 1 second and then it goes back to the home screen with no messages. Has anyone has any luck with this app or any ideas as to why it does not work on the gtablet?

No one has any ideas? Onlive on the gtab would be amazing!

Havent tried it but it might be possible under CM7.

CM7
Just tried it on CM7 the market online says its compatible but won't download it.

Also on CM7: sideloaded it, but same issue as OP (turns black for 1 sec, then nothing).

Works on Gtab Comb v3.3

Downloads & installs on Gtab Comb v3.3. I've so far sucessfully played the demo version of Darksiders, Lego Batman & Lego Harry Potter. Play has been smooth. I have had it lock up a couple of times. CPU seems to get rather warm so not sure if it's a heat issue.

I've seen this issue on my gTab while trying to play some other games, like Contract Killer & C.K. Zombies.
This usually do to pixel density. You can change the default pixel desity by using Prop.Editor.
There are serveral posts that discuss how use it, but the value is in Build.prop, I'm sure google will return the post that has the file and specifics on how to use the app. Its not difficult at all.
Good luck

[Q] Flash & Facebook Games

One of the things my wife uses our Gtab for is Facebook. She plays some of the games (Frontierville & Cafe World) but they don't seem to want to work. I think it is connected to the use of flash on the web site, but not sure. We are using VEGAn BETA 5.1. Has anyone else had any problems with games on Facebook?
I haven't had any problems playing Mafia wars or Castle Age.

I don't play games on facebook, but the one thing I noticed about it and I don't know if you have this problem is well, is I can't chat with my friends via IM. Does anyone know a way to correct this?
Hi all,
I don't want to commit thread necromancy here, but I figured its better than starting a new one...
Anyone had any further luck with this?
I just recently purchased a G Tab. I rooted it, loaded the latest CM7 ROM (1.2 bootloader), and downloaded the latest Adobe Flash from the marketplace (I think it was 10.3)
I was able to go on facebook, switch it to the "desktop site", and start loading a game (Dragons of Atlantis).
The game loads and opens, and I can maneuver around the map for about 2 minutes, and then the whole tablet just freezes. I have to wait a few more minutes, and then if I push the power button, it turns the tablet off. I then push the power button again, and it turns back on. This happens with both Dolphin Browser HD and Skyfire. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue, with Dungeon Overlord and Cityville -- both memory-hogging games. I figure its the lack of memory, but others don't seem to have this issue. I'm using Vegan tab Gingerbread, and wondering if I should try CM7.
hi,
did anyone got this working on their tab? im currently playing empires and allies and it opens up and i can play it, but it lags pretty bad. It aint that fast as to how you wud play on a pc. Im hav not rooted my tab and i dont plan to. Anyone got any solutions?

[Q] Market Compatibility - What's The Problem

What exactly is it that is blocking certain apps on the market? I understand the general reason: That the market doesn't believe the NC is the compatible device. What I'm asking is, what developmentally needs to be changed (build.prop maybe?) to allow more market options. It's a pain to manually update all the sideloaded apps the market won't recognize, and the AppBrain method only works for those who were smart enough not to upgrade to the new market, since it disables the "Fast Web Installer". I'd love to look into this. I know changing build.prop directly to identify as a different device is supposed to mess up the drivers somehow; what else could be done?
Edited to add: Why is it that market enabler doesn't work on the Nook Color?
The market is based on your location. Developers can limit who can see their apps to download based on region. The market will only show apps working with your android version. If you are on android 2.1, it will not show android 2.2+ apps. In addition, older android market only show like 10 apps in portrait mode.
sorta off topic but has anyone tried these
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10683867&postcount=1
The Market looks at multiple things on your device. It ranges anywhere from the version of Android SDK you are using to the device's location and the device type.
I've found the best method to solving this problem is to use adb to pull a copy of your build.prop file and edit it.

Thank you for this. I can not wait to get home and try it. I recently switched to the 950 Mhz Kernel posted by Geniusdog254 (running very nicely btw) and Angry Birds quit showing up in the market.
I was curious as to what else I was missing. I would love to buy and install Dungeon Hunter 2, but the only .apk's I can find online are cracked ones and it's not in the market at all for me. Hopefully this helps.

Dungeon Hunter 2 is only for the iPhone right now.
When it is available, you won't find it in the market. Gotta go directly through Gameloft.
As it stands right now, there is no way to legitimately purchase a Gameloft game for your nook. It doesn't view the nook as a compatible device. You can't buy it for your phone, and transfer the apk. That shows as an invalid copy.
Take a look through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919287
Lots of Gameloft talk.
Thanks for the heads up. I have DH 2 on iPhone but would be fine with the original on NC. I would love to be able to buy it instead of trying to bypass all that.

There are even a couple of games I would be willing to purchase a second time, if they would let me.

[Q] Some Questions after TNT lite 4.40 Install

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and just received my g tablet today. I followed the instructions for installing cwmod and tnt lite 4.40 and everything went great. However, I've run into a few issues. When trying to download angry birds it hangs at 15%. I have tried multiple times to kill the download and restart it with the same results.
I'm also new to Android. Is there a way to set things up so my gmail is not accessible to anyone who picks up my tablet? I could also use a recommendation for a good video player that plays .avi files. Another problem I'm having is that whenever I try to play a music file in either the native music player or winamp, the app crashes. Everyone told me how much better android is than apple but so far im not that impressed. Can anyone make some recommendations so I can see the full potential of this tablet? Thanks in advance!
I just upgraded from 4.2 to 4.4.0 and don't have any of the issues you are referring to. I was previously getting a couple of force closes that I don't have anymore with 4.4 which makes me happy. I just confirmed movies play, but I don't have any songs loaded to test that. Hopefully someone here with greater knowledge will chime in quickly. You made a good choice going with Android - don't give up hope. It does take a little more effort to get it setup the way you want it, but the beauty is that you HAVE a lot of choices which iOS does not allow. You'll get there, and then you will love it.

Have you tried clearing caches? Wiping data? Many times those two simple things (which are usually recommended procedure after flashing a new ROM0 will clear up all kinds of problems.
With the latest TNTL you should be able to activate the lock screen. You'll need to set up a shortcut through your launcher to a security settings screen that isn't shown by default. That will allow you to enter a password, pin or unlock pattern.
Update: Just realized camera isn't working either. As for the Angry Birds problem, I have downloaded and installed other apps with no problem but for some reason Angry Birds hangs at 15% - super frustrating! Also, is there a way to do a screen capture? Thanks in advance!
I had a similar problem
You really need to check the error code to verify. I was having a similar issue and I found an article to resolve my issue.
This worked for me but like I said you need to check if you are receiving an error when attempting to install.
I would only do what this little fixit instructs to fix

The caveat with the android over apple is the versatility and personal control over how you get to use your device. That said, it requires a little bit of effort, research, and frustration to get it all to work perfectly if you choose to use the latest builds. If you want the least amount of problems use the most stable build (which is usually not the most latest build) Once you get use to it, using the latest build with bugs won't be so intimidating and frustrating...maybe still frustrating

If the camera is not working, you definitely want to do a data wipe (this is a GTablet, correct? I ask because VEGA and Adam users have tried to use TNT Lite before, and their cameras would definitely break).
As for screen capture, I used ddms (in the Android SDK).

SixAxis on DroidX2

Who has all tried the new SixAxis app out for the Droidx2 and what are your experiences?
I can connect just fine, I've noticed the dpad works for scrolling through suggestions in the market, but i haven't found any emulators that will work.
I couldn't get it working either and haven't been able to download the compatibility checker. Its not in our market as our device seems to be listed as incompatible so I emailed the Dev last night and asked if he knew anything about it.
Ill post when I hear back from him.

it is in our market i have it. As the OP said, it connects just fine but I cant get emulators to work either. I am having an email conversation with their support (they are VERY quick in giving help). I'll post up what to do and how to do it once I get it resolved.
Its in your market?? Do you have the updated market? Its not available for download in mine and it wont let me do it remote on my PC as it says incompatible. I'd post a screenshot but I'm not at home.
Very weird...
Edit; are you on GB? Might be why I don't see it? I'm on prerooted gb

Anyone know what the **** is going on? Not only can I not get this app, but it also says I am incompatible with Quick Pic, and Wifi Analyzer. I had Wifi Analyzer working fine on 2.2.2... I don't understand why I can't get these apps, is there something screwed up on my 2.3.3 install? I completely wiped the phone and SBF'ed and erased everything before upgrading. I've spent the past 3 days getting my phone looking how I want so at this point I REALLY don't wanna reSBF/install. Is there anything I can try? I have a feeling more important apps are gonna pop up as being incompatible the more I look for stuff I need.
Not to sidetrack this thread too much, I still haven't gotten an e-mail back from the sixaxis devs. I absolutely must have this.

changing my lcd density back to 240 fixed it!
That said sixaxis still doesn't work on my phone. Prerooted GB, it gets to where I can have the app connect to my PS3 controller, and it says controller 1 connected, but it will not respond to anything. Sixaxis is enabled as my input device as well. Went in to FPse and check to see if it would map my buttons to the hardware buttons and it wouldn't respond. I believe GB also will no longer work with the wii remote like it did in froyo, so maybe it is a similar problem.
Really hoping the dev gets this working for us. If anyone gets an email back from them pls let us know.
Has anyone tried this on a rom other than stock pre rooted gb?
i haven't heard back yet but I will send them the link to this thread so they can see other X2 users are having problems.
I'm having the same problem. I've established the blue tooth connection. I've successfully seen response within text message fields, but none of the emulators recognize the input.
I also sent an e-mail to tech support - I haven't heard from them in days. I'm running Nitro's Eclipse 0.2.1
Hi all,
I'm the dev of the Sixaxis Controller app. As was suggested earlier, I've been pretty swamped with emails up until now. I just wanted to let you know that I am looking into this issue, and would appreciate some testers to help determine what's going wrong here.
First of all, if anyone is able to get hold of a Wii Remote, I'd really appreciate you trying that out in emulators using the Wiimote Controller app. If the Wiimote Controller app is fine, it's probably something silly I'm doing, otherwise I suspect it is something in the stock roms for the X2.
Which brings me to the second question; can everyone let me know which rom you are running.
Thanks heaps, and I'm sorry this issue has taken me so long to get to!
I updated my review for your app to 4 stars simply because of this post. Thank you!
I CANNOT get ahold of a wii mote to try out
I am running Pre-Rooted Gingerbread (no other changes besides having root apps)
PM me if you need a tester or have any questions. Id like to help anyway i can
I have a Wii-mote, so I did a bit of testing..
The Emulators I tried are Fpse, N64oid, and Snes9x EX. The Wii controller software I used was "Wiimote Controller" by CCP [email protected]
So firstly I connected my Wii controller to my X2 using the wiimote software, it discovers my Wii controller without problem, and proceeds to report every button press in its list, showing it is functioning. Wiimote is enabled as input device. I tried Fpse, N64oid, and Snes9x EX, by going in to their input options and trying to bind my wii controller inputs with their hardware mapping options. All emulators were non-responsive in detecting my wiimote buttons as hardware inputs.
Interestingly enough, the built in Wiimote software provided in Snes9x EX would connect to my controller AND receive all of its inputs correctly, allowing me to play any of it's games with the Wii controller.
Now, before I switched to my current (I believe P3, the most popular ROM on this subforum) Pre-rooted GB 2.3.3, my wii controller was able to be read as hardware inputs on all emulators I tried. I was using Froyo 2.2.2 and had no problems using the Wii controller. I would be interested to see if anyone still running 2.2.2 can use this sixaxis software without any problems.
So it seems that the problem lies in our 2.3.3 not being able to read our bluetooth connections as hardware input devices, probably due to its updated bluetooth system files. This makes me wonder how Snes9x's built in Wii software gets it to work, regardless. I wonder if ALL 2.3.3 phones have this same problem? I know 2.3.4 has an even newer version of the bluetooth software and wonder if this fixes our problem?
If you (Sir Earl) have any additional things for me to try, let me know.
That confirms my suspicion that Motorola botched something in the 2.3.3 version. I don't believe it has anything to do with bluetooth, but rather they have somehow stopped IME's from working outside of the normal OS menus. The reason Snes9x EX is able to work is because it isn't using an IME.
On a hunch, can I get someone to try installing a different home screen app, such as ADW.Launcher or LauncherPro, then trying the Sixaxis app again. I suspect something in MotoBlur is trapping the input.

I was using LauncherPro Plus during my testing.
Hmmm... It must go deeper into the kernel then. I'll see if I can find the source code and try to find some answers or a workaround.
In the meantime, it would be good to get some confirmation from others that it works with 2.2.2, but not the 2.3.3 update.
Can someone try going to Sixaxis Controllers Preferences->Input Mappings->1st Controller mappings and setting the Up button to the 'SEARCH' key (be sure to disconnect and reconnect the controller for the changes to take effect). Next, make sure your Sixaxis is connected and set as the current input method. Run FPse and go to Settings->Input->Hardware keys, then tap UP, followed by pressing the search button on your phone. If it accepts the button and says something like 'Value: 84', then try running a game, and testing whether the up button on the controller is responsive in game. Also try pressing the search button on your phone to see if that is responsive. Make sure you try this with a game where the up button would produce a noticeable result!
Report back your results!
Thanks!
Earl

[Q] A lot of issues with the Galaxy Tab, need some help please

Hi,
So I just recently got the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I am familiar with Android and I know what I'm doing (or so I think lol) but some things just aren't working and I don't know if it's me or software limitation. Regardless I'm hoping someone can shedd some light on these...
1. The market is lacking a LOT of applications that are available on phones. Is that right? I thought it would just scale for the most part....I can't even find the official Facebook app on the market. Am I looking in the wrong place or something? Hulu? Netflix??
1a. Some applications that I sideload (mainly widgets) like typoclock or something of that sort....install, but when I go to add the widget it is not there, as if never installed. Even when I try to reinstall it, it says that it will replace the old one so i know for a fact that it installs, but the widgets aren't available, and they arent listed in the installed apps drawer either.
2. It seems kind of sluggish...and I really haven't installed much, even from a cold boot...it's kinda laggy, not as quick as I have seen on some review videos. Quadrant scores around 1400-1500. I Rooted it, installed the latest SunBurst ROM and overclocked to 1.4Ghz and it's still laggy often despite nearing 3000 on quadrant now.
3. So I couldn't get any Netflix apk to work on it stock, so once I rooted, installed Sunburst ROM it came installed with a Netflix app, but I don't think it's official since the icon is orange and has a little android on it. Needless to say THAT app doesn't work and CAN'T be installed (I figure it's cooked onto the ROM) regardless I found a Netflix apk that install and replaces it, and works...but after one day it reverts back to the old netflix and doesn't work. So pretty much everytime I want to use Netflix I have to reinstall and overwrite with the new Netflix apk I found...it's annoying. (and the search function doesn't work on that Netflix either)
I know it's a lot to rant about and a lot of issues, and I love the tab and honeycomb, but I can't believe these issues still persist. I hope someone can help me with one/all of these and I will be forever grateful.
Thanks, hope someone can help...
1a. Try a restart after you install a widget. It seems that if the widget is not made for HC, it doesn't appear before you restart.
i tried rebooting but that didn't help any unfortunately...
There's a netflix 1.3 APK somewhere that sideloads perfectly. I haven't tried it with Touchwiz yet - I haven't even touched Touchwiz.
Try stock ROM first. Your ROM might have broken something. I know Bonsai completely broke USB storage support as an example, and Starburst claims to be the "most complete and fastest Touchwiz experience" which means it's going to have missing and broken things. Any ROM dev making claims like that is compensating for something. The "hacked-icon" Netflix app is an obvious sign they went a LITTLE too far.
Netflix sideload works perfectly on my Tab. Unrooted. TouchWiz. Stock.
i tried netflix fix on starburst rom, it did work but reverted back to fcs after a reboot. i switched to bonsai 3, netflix seems to be working fine even after a reboot.
2. It seems kind of sluggish...
The default launcher is a bit sluggish, it is a honeycomb issue. For me I have seen after a "reboot", the tab does take a couple of minutes to "settle", then it is smooth for me, but if you have lot of widgets on your homescreens it will be sluggish, my experience in any case.
thanks to all you guys for all the replies.
As far as the Netflix, I know I do have the correct apk I think the issue is that it isn't playing nice with the one that is baked into the rom. I guess I will have to install another rom.
However I haven't heard anything on the apps, is that right? There's no Facebook? Anyoneelse having issues with Widgets not appearing?
For Facebook search for an app in the market called 'Friend Me'
Looks great and works great =)

@js931,I'll give that launcher a try and see how it goes.
I understand and feel for you on your problems. My 3rd (and final) Galaxy Tab is on the way to me from Amazon.com. I also have an Asus Transformer on the way as well and the device that gives me the least amount of problems is the device I plan to keep. I want to like the Tab but I don't have high hopes since I'm about to be on my 3rd device. The 2nd one worked perfectly after Touchwiz for a while - even fixed issues I was having such as the typing lag - but the issues I had with the first one (screen and/or Wifi doesn't respond after bringing the device out of sleep) resurfaced a few days ago. The 2nd Tab also had something loose on the inside as it produces a loud rattling noise whenever it vibrates. While that is easily cured by turning off the vibration, I paid $600 for this device and I expect it to be near-perfect. So any little issue I have with this 3rd Tab means it's going back for a refund and I'll keep the Transformer... assuming it behaves like it should, lol.
At any rate, good luck with your issues. The Tab is a beautiful device but seems to be problematic... at least that's my experience with it.
