[Q] easiest way to delete stock apps? - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried deleting the .apk with root explorer,
the apk and .odex disappears from the category and is still in the the appdrawer, after a reboot i can see it again under system/app
This is a way but i don´t like it... to time-consuming.

I think the best way is via titanium backup, paul o´briens way (Force Remove App). But then i just can choose one and how fun is it to reboot every time when you have like 10 gapps you want to delete. Is there anyway to delete several in just one reboot?
also tried root uninstaller without luck

You can use Root Explorer and have your phone rooted so you can delete the apps you dont need or copy them from system to sdacard and of course their icon will disappear.
Search in forum about root and deleting apps.
Or look here... is easy to found if you look for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840356

Uhmm... They r not the same, titanium is like an app manager and root explorer is a explorer, like astro. Yes, you can uninstall with titanium but for unintalling system apps or those that come by default you may need to be root. Havent tried to do it with titanium without been root but it think that you need to have your phone rooted. Just try it if it doesnt work you will have to root to delete those apps :S
And.. Why u dont whant to root?

with rooted phone, to uninstall some DEMO SE apps. and games is it enough to go to /system/apps and delete .apk files that I don't need or is there some more files and folders that belong to those apps. I want to delete....
Yea, delete the apps from /system/app and restart your phone. After that go to Phone settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications, you will see some apps with default icons, and default names like "com.android.****" - uninstall them, and there you go. Nothing left. You can also start Titanium Backup, and clear app cache to be 100% sure that nothing is left in the memory.

[Q] Best way to uninstall Tit Backup?

I would like to remove version that its included in new Phiremod 6.3 and install some other version.
I cant do it from Applications menu.
Any help?
maybe find a free "uninstaller" app in the market and try that
Here is a link to a website you may want to bookmark for the future. Should be able to download and install with root explorer or an equivalent over the existing version, if this is what you are looking for.

You couldn't come up with a better abbreviation than "tit"?
Lol.. like TIBU lol.... use root explorer and delete the apk

Lol... Didnt think about "TIT" before U mentioned it! xaxaxa
Anyway best way for me was to remove it with some System Uninstaller app.
And then to install newer version I had to put new apk at system/app folder, give same permissions and then reboot.
After reboot install went fine.
The most common short hand for Titanium is Ti.

[Q] restoring "downloads" sytem apk.

First off I'd like to start off by saying that I am kind of an idiot...with that said; I like to mess around with important files on my device(Acer a100) even though I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing.
Using titanium backup I uninstalled that download system apk. The one with the green icon and the white arrow pointing down. Now when I try to restore it through tit. Backup it will just freeze and keep saying that it is restoring and I have to finally force close titanium. I have also tried messing around with permissions in root explorer, fixing permissions in rom manager, navigating to system/app and installing it manually through a file explorer( get message install fail), and hard resetting.
The main problem is that everything I download will show in my notification bar and after I close/exit them they come back 5-30 min later. If I click on the download in my notification(not on the x) then my notification bar just closes. I can kinda fix this by turning my notifications off or cleaning data/cache on ?download storage? Apk/app.
Does anyone know of an easy fix for restoring this system apk. For there are no custom roms or recovery sources for this device that I have seen yet.
Thank-you, Robb
If you have the correct apk, then you can install it through Root Explorer... just not the way you tried. Once you paste it in /system/app, don't click on it and install. Instead long-press the apk file and select permissions. Set them to rw-r--r-- and reboot.
The permissions should look like any other system app.
Owner: read and write are checked
Group: read checked
Others: read checked
Let me know if that works for you.

[Q] How to remove partially uninstalled system app?

Hi,
I have transformed CoolReader into system app with Titanium backup. It was crashing so I tried to move it back to user app again with Titanium backup. However during this procedure TB hanged and after some 20 minutes I killed it. I later tried to uninstall it (again with TB), but it seems that there are still left parts of it somewhere so now I am unable to reinstall the app from google play (error 491) or if I clear cache and data of google play and force the application to install it keeps crashing.
So I would like to ask what should I delete to completely eliminate the traces of CoolReader (or any application in general) and be able to install it again?
I'm not sure if this will work but give it a shot.
Try finding an apk of your app and, using Root Explorer, paste it in /system/app (remember to mount /system as RW using Root Explorer). Set permissions (All read, owner-write, owner-execute) and reboot. That should register the app as a system app.
Go back into /system/app and delete it. Reboot and it should unregister it as a system app, allowing you to reinstall from Google Play

Delete system/pre-installed apps on a rooted device

Hi,
I'd like to know how to safely delete system or ROM pre-installed applications that don't offer an "Uninstall" option. I am rooted and running 5.0.2 on a Nexus 6. I know I could do this with Titanium or other similar apps but my point is to not install a specific app just for deleting apps if I can find the correct path/file from Root Explorer and remove it myself.
Thanks

from my experience the best that you can do is to use root explorer and goto system/app or system/priv-app and delete folder-app you do not need, then goto data/dalvik-cache, search for apk name and delete also program *.dex, so this is a clean method, make a reboot for clearing apk data !
It's safer to rename the app instead of deleting it... "freezing" apps often just add ".fro" to the app's name (whatever.apk.fro, for example) to keep it from appearing in your app launcher or loading. If anything goes wrong because of the "missing" app, you can easily restore it.
