[Q] Anyone have Northeast 1.2 GPS Script? - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I think I'm getting a corrupted download from the FTP site, CWR won't install the .zip, says it's bad. Anyone have Northeast 1.2 and can post it or send it to me?
My GPS was great before but after I upgraded the radio I can't get a lock at all.

Here you go, I've enclosed the zip. If it still won't work for you what I do is just update the file in the rom and flash that. Which in this case would be system/etc/gps.conf. I've always kept a copy of the rom on my memory card and update it as needed. What I do is move the rom and whatever the other zip is to my desktop and use 7-zip to "open archive" on both zip files. I do this on my desktop because I get more consistent results versus trying to do it on the sd card. You can either delete the file in the rom and drag/drop the new gps.conf into it or you can right-click the file "edit" copy/paste the text into gps.conf. You could use adb to do this I'm sure but I for one am too lazy/stupid to download, figure out and use it. Using the above method I've updated/replaced "all" the google apps, updated the hosts file, modified the build.prop, tried a couple different gps scripts and I have a completely updated rom (Liberated 2.2.2). And the updates for the google apps aren't stealing internal storage.
If you use GPS Status (free download) reset and download new assistance data.

Awesome thanks!

[Q] Clarification on apk files please

Is there a difference between apk files downloaded as an installer file and the apk files i find in my system/app folder?
The reason I ask is this:
I have both wired and wireless tether on "ROM a" and not wired tether on "ROM b". I want to copy the apk for wired tether out of my system/app folder in "a" onto my sd card so that I can install it on "b". Hopefully I could then flash "ROM b"(that doesn't already have the app) and navigate to the sd card with root explorer and click the apk, and have it install the app.
Should work right?
Or are there different kinds of apk files, ones that contain an installer and ones that just act as an application?
Thanks!
I believe that you could store the apk on the SD card, wipe and flash the new Rom, and then yes, use root explorer (be sure to remember and set correct permissions, have root explorer in r/w mode, and place the file back in system/apps) and then reboot. SHOULD work, but as always I'd suggest doing a NAND backup first, in case this doesn't work. If it doesn't, try using adb to push the file to system/apps.

Rooting? It says "No such file or directory" WHY?

I haven't had my sd card in during this entire process so I know that the file is on the internal sd and it shows up in ASTRO File Manager. But when in Recovery menu and after selecting "Reinstall Packages" it says "No such file or directory". Can anyone tell me what is happening? PLEASE
Which update file did you download?
Download pc or phone? Is it named proper?
Does show as:
sdcard/update.zip
I got the file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723479&highlight=root
Downloaded onto my PC and transferred the file to my phone. When in ASTRO I go to /sdcard and then find update.zip when I open it the file manager says /sdcard/update.zip.zip and two files are in it. "META-INF and system
It looks like you did the same thing I did using the same instructions...
I renamed the file "update.zip" which just tacked it onto the already existing ".zip" to give me "update.zip.zip" and it gave me the same error. All I had to do was rename the file "update".
haha, yeap... this is why I asked if you downloaded it to your pc, common mistake.
That is why in the noob-guide sticky I renamed the file update.zip automatically so this step was taken out.
Alright everything is now good now. Thanks guys. My iPad is now tethered to my Vibe. SO SWEET ! ! !
Next to come I might have to look into the lag fixes because that has been bugging me. Can someone tell me quick if the lag fix repairs the issue with the gallery when it is opened and acts silly?
Can someone tell me if I can delete "update.zip" after I have done this?
^ leave it. Go download rom manager and flash cwr. Make a backup.
Voodoo converts the file system to ext4, this is the method to take. It's added to the stock kernels so it's rock solid. Ext4 will help with the lag. Not sure what gallery problems you are referencing.
Telling you, nero v3 plus voodoo = Great
What is rom manager and cwr going to do for me? Why should I do this, I just don't know what those do. The silly gallery issue is sometimes opening the gallery and the phone because unresponsive and the gallery goes dark and only shows the font of the folders in the gallery.
It allows you to make a backup of your system, and flash custom rom's.

[Q] XTRSense 5.01 Questions

This is a question for Zach, but as a new user I did not have access to his thread. First, congratulations on developing a great ROM. You do great work, I love XTRSense 5.01. However, I have come across two small glitches, both related to your GScript app.
After running the Apps2SD script, all of the other scripts disappear. There is a note to find them on the SD card, but I haven't been able to find any scripts there. I specifically want to install the battery life script. Is there a way to recover access to the scripts?
Second, I accidentally ran the script that deleted HTC Teeter. Is there any way to get it back short of reinstalling the ROM?
Thanks in advance ...

Hi! Just to note, I'm not currently running xtrSENSE or xtrROM, but I have quite a lot in the past and probably will again someday, so I thought I'd answer what I can.
1. I don't know what's going on with scripts disappearing, are you sure you actually added them to GScript's list of available scripts? When you load GScript, initially it's blank, and you have to tell it to load each script individually. Make sure the checkbox for run as root is checked for each one. Then the first time you run one from the main GScript screen, it'll prompt you for SU access. Sorry if I'm including info you already know, just making this answer friendly for anyone who happens to find this thread. There should be a folder called gscript on the SD card.
Note: Different folder listing programs list files and folders in different sorting orders. Linux is case sensitive so you can have both a folder named gscripts and one called GScripts (only the first should exist, I'm just using it as example). What I'm getting at is that some programs list all the files and folders with starting with the lower-case letters first, and then the upper-case ones after, so if you look for the folder gscript, make sure and search everywhere in the listing.
Also, if you must, you can open the ROM zip file on your computer and look in the sdcard folder in it and you'll see the gscript folder there with all the scripts inside. Just copy the gscript folder to your SD card if they got deleted somehow.
2. Same as the last suggestion, you can open the ROM zip file on your computer and in the system\app folder there you'll find "teeter.apk". You can use Root Explorer off the Android Market to put that back in system\app, or you could just install it from your file manager (Astro, File Manager...) for it to reside in normal user memory.
Partial Success
"Also, if you must, you can open the ROM zip file on your computer and look in the sdcard folder in it and you'll see the gscript folder there with all the scripts inside. Just copy the gscript folder to your SD card if they got deleted somehow."
This worked perfectly. The GScript folder on the SD card was empty. Not anymore, and the scripts work fine.

I put teeter.apk on the SD card, but my attempts to intall it with ES File Manager failed. Maybe related to Apps2SD?

You don't want it on the SD card. You need to navigate to /system/app in internal storage on the ROM. Apps2sd moves third party apps that you install from the market to the SD card, but does not move the internal apps in /system/app.
You may need to restart after you pop that .apk back in /system/app to get it back in your app drawer.

[Q] Titanium Backup

Does anyone know, is it possible to pull the file TB creates of an app and install the app without TB?
I checked on my OG Droid and the file TB creates ends in .apk.gz. Can I just remove the .gz and install the .apk?
Anyone try this?
My Prime doesn't have Wifi (because I broke it) and I'm trying to find a way to install my apps without a data connection (I don't have TB installed on the Prime since I also do not have root access).
Any help would be appreciated.
have you tried restoring your Wifi by reinstalling .21 update via the SD card....or installing the apps you want via SD card?
I have tried re-installing .21 from the SD card. It fails because my wpa_supplicant files are bad (the ones I changed accidentally).
I'm not sure how else to install the apps from the SD card except from what I have from TB. That's why I'm wondering if its possible to do. I'm not sure what TB does with the .gz ending of the file though.
The .gz file is gzip compressed...there are a number of applications that can uncompress and extract the .apk, then you can just load the .apk onto your prime
In windows I use 7-Zip to handle gzip files.

First of all...how did you break your WiFi??!!
Anywho. Just as someone else said, use 7-zip. It easily supports gzip. It's one of my favorite open source software releases available natively for Windows. No reason (imo) to use anything else.
I'm surprised TB is actually gzipping your apk files. apk format derived from jar. JAR files are compressed (and are actually derived from zip). gzip and zip both use the Deflate algorithm, so unless I'm mistaken on the apk incorporating data compression, using gzip seems like a stupid idea.

iF YOU ARE JUST ROOTED, not unlocked, then load a clean.15 via sd card....that should clear the wpa files....THEN apply .21 via sd card.....there is a thread somewhere here that talks about that particular issue
Bob
Titanium Backup lets you select the format to use - no compression, LZO, gzip, or bzip2. It uses whichever you select. If you select no compression, then none of the files are compressed - not the .apk, not the data, or any of the rest of the backups. You may still get some compression of the .apk, and using gzip doesn't take enough extra time to notice. Gzip is a Linux compression format, commonly used for backups, as is bzip. That's why it's in Android - Android is just Linux modified for small touchscreens.
Thanks everyone! I'll be sure to unzip them and try it out.
Bob, unfortunately, I'm already on .21. You can't downgrade firmware versions without being unlocked. ICS wont even recognize the .15 file as being install-able.

heh, well, i had used a method to restore ad-hoc connections that required a new wpa_supplicant2 file. The .21 firmware was supposed to allow ad-hoc, but I couldn't get it to work. So I attempted the method again. Unfortunately, I accidentally over-wrote the wpa_supplicant file. I didn't have a replacement file, so I thought that wiping and reflashing the .21 update would work. The update failed because those system files were modified.
So I have a prime with no wifi and no root, and thus no way to fix my wifi.
Someone here can grab you the files you need, transfer them to the sd card, put that in the prime, put them where they need to go and be done with it...
**** never mind, you do not have root now to put the files where the need to go. Crap, I'm stupid, sorry.
I fixed it!
I was able to pull a backup of OTA Voodoo Rootkeep from my TB .apk files. I installed, and it restored root for me! Not sure how that is possible...maybe I really was already rooted, but since I couldn't load any apps because of wifi being broke I couldn't check. Anyway, its all back to good!
Congrats!
Good idea on the method, perhaps it can be used in other situations. Sharing of a VodooOTA root Keeper backup allowing those on 2.1 to root themselves. Interesting idea.

System update doesn´t see WiFi

Hi guys,
I try to update my Note 4 (rooted, but runs stock ROM, 4/64 global version, 1 month old) with regular system update, but it keeps on saying, that I need to turn on WiFi. It IS on. First I figured it´s, because I share my tablet´s internet and doesn´t like hotspots, but connected to my normal rooter with the same "success". It starts downloading however on GSM/LTE. The problem is, that I have a 1 GB net and the package is 1.3 GB. My other thought was, it doesn´t work, because it´s rooted and can´t install OEM update just like on Google devices, but doesn´t even start to download. All other apps work with wifi on, but the sys update.
Open the file manager app in your device and locate the folder where the update.zip file is downloaded, delete it. Since the file is much bigger than your daily limit. Try to download the file from miui website and use apps like adm, where you can easily pause and continue the download of file. Then move the downloaded file to the internal storage and through the updater app, you can select the zip to install.

Thanks! I´ll give it a try later. If it doesn´t work, I put the unlimited SIM from tab in and dl thru LTE...
