3vo shut down while on music widget. - HTC EVO 3D

Has any one experienced this. I was running and my phone just shut down. When I restarted the SD card wouldn't remount. Well after many attempts and a battery pull the SD card came back. I have a 32g card and have 3 emails on sync That's about it.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App

Yeah I expierienced that. My phone would shut off and would turn back on hitting the power button. A battery pull usually fixed the problem but using the otterbox defender makes that easy task a lot more difficult.
Needless to say I finally exchanged the phone. I would suggest you do the same.
Hope this helps.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk

*correction* my phone would not turn back on without a battery pull.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk

I got my 3vo at noon today.
First reboot came while using the music app/widget.
Second reboot came when I switched from 3d to 2d picture.
(ps - ? re: otterbox case. I have one, too. It seems like the rubber around the top is not snug. Its as if it need to shrink a little. Is yours the same?)

Does anyone have this problem where if they click on their music app and exit it twice it starts to freeze on the 2nd attempt and then reboot on its own? If so, is this more of a software or hardware problem? Need to know so i can decide whether if i should exchange for another phone. Thanks!

[Q] X10 Issue. Dieing then coming back to life...literally

Hello all,
I have been flashing a number of ROMs for a while now, and I decided to settle for EWJET ZeamEx V010ex temporarily as it is beautifully well rounded Stable aand has all the features working i.e. Camera, GPS...etc without FCs.
So I had been using EWJET for 2 weeks, when one day I picked it up to check my Whatsapp messages. It was really slow and laggy, which happens sometimes no biggie. Then it got slowwer and sllooowwer and super sluggish. (slow frame rate and you can see the vertical lines as the screen changes) And finally froze...Completely. Waited for a bit with no response then removed batt. Put batt back in, Nothing. plugged in, nothing. I was sad... very very sad as I have got so attached to this thing. With all these excellent Devs and their ROMs in development .
Anywhooo, now a few days later. (I had the battery out ever since it died) I put it back in and tried for the heck of it and guess what it Vibrated! the way it does when you turn it on. It was stuck in a boot loop though. Hit it with PC companion. back to 2.1 stock. flashed a couple of ROMS. Trip's froyo and Iris. was running fine!
BUT it happened a few times already where it dies like it did before with no response what so ever. I have to take out the batt for a lil over a few mins (hard reset). then it responds. Sometimes it goes all the way and loads fine and other it's just stuck in a boot loop and I have to either wipe everything and stock it. Mind you I'm not doing anything crazy on the phone. either texting, browsing..etc
Could it be the undervolting for the EWJET ROM? doesn't make sense but maybe. I did stock it a few times already though.
Sorry for the long post wanted to include as much info as could be helpful.
Any ideas? Any one?
I'm really not ready to give up this phone!
Thanks in advance!
just flash back to stock and exchange it for a new one with your warrenty
did you get your phone wet?

Yeah I want to do that but wont be able to for at least a couple of months as I am away from home. So was hoping I can remedy the problem temporarily. Maybe someone had similar issues.
As for getting the phone wet, Negative. It happened out of no where. I started working again n been using it perfectly. Today, it worked the whole day fine then at night I received a call. after I was done I hit end and it Froze there. power button would turn the screen on and off but nothing else. took out the batt and its been dead ever since. I'll check n see if any of my friends might have gotten it wet while using it though.
Anyone have similar issues?
Sounds like a faulty phone to me, when my phone turns itself off and doesn't want to turn on i take the battery out/in and this always solves the problem ._.
you could have a proximity sensor issue. if you get a chance to charge your battery, I recommend you take off your screen protector, sounds weird, but it might help

Thanks for the tip. I'm actually not using a screen protector. Never liked the feel of them.
It's dead now and not even responding to the charger.
Oh well, seems like I'll have to wait a couple of months to see if i can get it fixed/replaced. Dang guess I'm gonna pull my W850i from the darkness temporarily. Hahaha
Thanks for the help all.
it has a stock screen protector, look REALLY close at the corner! :-D use a razor or knife to take it off, TRUST me, you wont scratch it, it is COMPLETELY scratch resistant!

try wall charger, usb charger on computer, wall usb converter, and if all else fails, download flashtools, and in the'drivers' folder, there is 'Gordons Gate drivers' install that on your computer and the usb should work.
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI using XDA Premium App
Nope, Still no response from phone.
I don't know about the screen protector though. I see it. but I don't feel comfortable removing it. And it seems like I wouldn't be able to put it back.

Anyone having an issue with the Restart function?

For some reason, mine doesn't restart anymore when I tell it to, it just shuts off entirely. Anyone else having the same issue?
Sent from my HTC 3VO using XDA App
Definitely have the same exact issue. Restart just powers down the phone.
same here 10char
Mine to, though it worked correctly yesterday after a week weird

Mine was doing the same, took it back.
Mine just shuts the phone down, too.
Mine was doing the same when I first got it but somehow it works fine now....

I've had issues about 50% of the time trying to power off or reboot. Always end up pulling the battery and then its fine, still annoying as balls though.

Same here. Reboot powers the phone off
that happened to me, but I've done all the ota stuff. I've noticed that if you have done headphones plugged in, you can't reboot the phone.
but the reboot problem is very inconsistent
sent from my 3vo using XDA app
I've seen it happen both before and after the ota, also while both on and off the charger. It's just so hit or miss.
Same here with just shutting down. But somehow it is fine now.

Mine just started doing this after I did a factory reset (which did fix my problem of voice mails not showing in my vm box)
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
I had the same exact issue. It started to bother me quite a bit. What I did to rectify the problem was hold the power button down and tell it to go into airplane mode. I let it stay in airplane mode for a minute then turned airplane mode off.
Ever since doing this task it has rebooted each and everytime like it is suppose too. If this seems to work for you folks as well great. Perhaps it will help figure out what the issue may be.

I wish I had tried that before I did the second factory data reset. However, this second time around seemed to fix this problem and now I can restart again.

I have had no shutdowns or restarts myself. Maybe a rogue app causing your issues?
I've had about 4 random reboots since I received my phone early Thursday ... While in my belt clip and case. Get phone off blt and it's rebooting. Not rooted yet, so that's not it. Just installing all the apps I had on my 3d.
If I can't figure it out and still happening by Sunday I'm requesting a replacement.

Same here. except my issue seems much worse. Whenever i receive a text message, or actually send one, toggle the volume in either direction, try to play any music file, play youtube videos, or take pictures. She freezes up, then reboots. internet works fine, browser runs fine, can navigate menus fine. phone calls only mess up like every third call or so. lock screen is fine too.
the only apps i have downloaded are GO SMS Pro, Netflix (which played a show just fine) and Zedge.
I've done 2 Factory resets and still no luck.
Took it up to sprint earlier and they werent able to help because they dont have any EVO LTEs in the store yet. Since they couldnt help, i'm contemplating rooting to see if it'll do anything different. Doesnt make sense to me cuz I cant install a custom ROM, but neither does the phone acting up like it is while its purely stock.
Oh well, I'll keep checking and keep you all posted on what happens.
I've had some restarts myself. I believe it is the seidio surface case and holster doing it. This phone will do a restart from the lock screen if you hold the power button down for 5 seconds. That starts a 3 countdown to restart. I just took the plastic piece over the pwr btn off.... hope that works.
Their has to be a way to turn that power option off! Not sure if I should get a new case or if my power button is to sensitive.

The reason being that this does that is because of the non-removable battery. They had to make a fail-safe because you can't do a battery pull like before

[Q] Phone randomly shuts down

I just received my new Incredible and am very excited as it is a huge upgrade from my trusty old Eris. I have one very annoying issue though. The phone randomly turns off on its own, and I have to press and hold the power button multiple times for it to restart. Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, does anyone know how to turn off the annoying 'DROID' noise at startup? I tried the Silent Boot app, but it doesn't seem to work on this device.
Thanks!

Not normal. Make sure a program you installed isn't causing the issue first then think about returning it.
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Tapatalk 2
Definitely not normal. Perhaps your battery cover is loose?
I used to have to do something really ghetto to my original Incredible while it was near the end of its life. I put a folded business card between the battery and cover so it wouldn't jar itself loose and shut off the phone.
However, does not seem normal at all for a new phone.
The same thing happened to mine a few times. I think the power button is very sensitive. Just a small amount of pressure is needed to close the circuit and if its held that way for over 1 second then phone thinks your trying to initiate a shut-down so it does so.
Just thinking out loud here, not totally sure....

That should pop up the shut down menu though and it sounds as if the OP isn't seeing that. Unless I missed something.
Yea, your absolutely right, I forgot about that.... Hmmm.
anyone else notice how long it takes to turn the phone one??
I have to hold the power button for what seems like doubt the time for my old rez,inc1,inc1,eris, ect.
kinda annoying lol, feels like its not working or something.
not really a complaint, but just a comment.
also if my phone were rebooting I'd go to store before that 14 day and get a NEW phone before Verizon trys to pull that crap and give you a refurb!

Yes I've noticed it takes a little longer comparing from my Thunderbolt. I can hold pwr button down, count to ten and it starts booting up. But with the Dinc4G, it does take a little longer holding down but it may be a quicker boot up time overall. This from just the two times or so how it seems to me ...I just got it so still acclimating and had already thoughts that the extended battery may be nice to just give me a little more to hang on to .

I received a warranty replacement that did that (randomly turning off). Was irreconcilable after talking with tech support.
My recommendation is to perform factory reset if you can, remove sd card, and see if it works properly.
If not you most likely have a hardware defect of some kind. Return or replace.

I did a factory reset and it still does it randomly. And it only does it when its in my pocket. I thought it was my case (i have the otter box commuter) so I cut it around the power button. Still it happened to me today. About getting a replacement, since it happens randomly far inbetween, there is no way for me to prove there is a problem.

Rebooting phone

Can you do a reboot of the phone without pulling battery, and screen becomes unresponsive. On my HTC I can hold power and volume - for a few seconds and it will reboot but then again it has a unremovable battery. Just wondering can I do same with this phone, thanks in advance.

Thank you the reason i ask is because i have two photons i plan to give one too each of my 8 and 9 year old daughters for games and netflix etc.... I bought them shells but the tabs that keep them shut broke off. I wanted to super glue the shell together but if i do that i won't be able to get to battery for a manual reboot... So im thinking i need to get them new shells the rubber jelly kind that just goes over phone.
Have you let them sit for a few minutes when frozen? A lot of times it will reboot itself but I rarely have the patience to wait? Otherwise you'd have to let the batteries fully drain and hope they charge and come back on.
As far as I know, you have to pull the battery.
