Can I install Litening Rom v2.2 over my stock XWKE7
Good day all, I have a real nooby question regarding installing the Latest Lite'ning Rom V2.2 XXKG1 on my unrooted, brand new South African Vodacom/ Vodafone branded stock XWKE7 (out of box firmware).
Do I need to flash anything prior to flashing Litening Rom V2.2?
Or do I have install From the frst version and work my way upto 2.2?
I also can't seem to find Stock African Galaxy S II firmware anywhere - Would any XWKE7 firmware do?
I can find lots of info it just doesn't seem to tie up and all the various kernels and version numbers are making my head swim. Thank you in advance for any help

Yes - you have to start by flashing 2.0 - then you need to install the 2.1 update and then the 2.2 update.
Follow this to flash the 2.0 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
Then follow this to upgrade 2.1 and 2.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15643453&postcount=5041

Thank you very much for the fast and prompt response. I'm going to do as described right away. Thank you again.

Few questions on lite'ning rom
Hi
Just flashed lite'ning rom v4. A few problems I notice.
1. Browser lag
2. The stock keypad doesn't work. Only swype or a third party keypad. If i select the stock keypad I get a force close message every ten seconds.
3. If I go to log and call settings I again get the force close message.
4. The stock call blacklist option doesn work.
If i could get help on this it wud be great. Thanks

Lite'ning Rom usage

Firstly sorry for the noobish question...
I want to flash Lite'ning Rom (XWKE7) but because I'm on XWKE2 (rooted) will there be a problem?
Or do I just flash the Rom and that's it?
Thanks in advance
No. Just install on top. Will automatically update you to KE7.
I haven't flashed my SGS2 yet, but from experience there shouldn't be an issue. You may have to do a wipe (removing applications, contacts etc) but since the firmware is what's being replaced, the firmware shouldn't matter
I just flashed my first rom on the GS2 on monday
It was really easy, Im using lite'ning 1.0 right now, will be updating to 1.1 asap.
I removed the simcard as advised and then used Odin to flash the rom.
Only took a minute and went flawlessly...

Provider Rom

Hi all,
I am from Singapore and i want to revert my GA to its stock rom. Just like how i can update using Kies.
Should i use the samfirmwares - Under provider Rom?
Regards
Don
Dude you are right. Use the files from samfrimware.com and use odin to flash it back 2.2.1
Thanks for your reply.
I flashed it back to 2.2.1. As i was previously on VillianRom, I downgraded to Asia Firmware - S5830ZTKB2.
But now when i start KIES, it says this device cannot be updated.
??
Basically I just want to return to my stock rom so that i can update through kies. Anyone can help please?

Warning: Do not flash your phone with ‘one package’ rom which is available on Samfirmware.com, your phone may not start after flashing with that rom because some files are missing in that package,
This rom is meant for the people who had upgraded to gingerbread and now want to switch back to the original stock rom,
Requirements:
• Odin Multi downloader
Description:
This ROM is meant for those of you who want revert back to the stock ROM,
this Rom which i have uploaded is the Asian version of the official ROM,
for countries like : INDIA,PAKISTAN,BANGLADESH , ETC
I have repacked the firmware from Samfirmware.com and have included the necessary files which where 'missing' in the original one package installation from Samfirmware.com
After flashing with this ROM your phone will revert back to the stock rom
ie. Android 2.2.1 DDKC1
Contents
1. Cooper_1.0.ops
2. Boot _S5830DDKC1.tar.md5
3. Phone _S5830DDKC1.tar.md5
4. Pda _S5830DDKC1.tar.md5
5. Csc _S5830DDKC1.tar.md5
The ROM works fine i have tested it myself and can be very useful for those people who want to get back there firmware warranty
Download the stock ROM for Samsung Galaxy Ace
Version: Android 2.2.1 DDKC1
Region: Asian
Code:
http://www.multiupload.com/L9CQE3DXUD
Password : xda-developers.com
-x-x-x-x-x-xx-x-x-xx-x-x-xx-x-x-xx-x-x-x-x-xx-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
Alternative method
(Takes double the time)
>> Go to samfirmware.com and download European version foryo (preferably S5830XXJLC) and also download foryo of your region (in our case S5830DDKC1)
>> First flash your SGA with the European version foryo
>> After flashing European version foryo, now flash the ‘one package’ foryo rom of your region which you had downloaded before.
Voila! you are back to the stock rom

im from philiphines..
Hope u can work also on DXKC1 froyo because here in my country DXKC1 was the latest update via KIES..
hihihi..hited thanks button already..kip helping^^
Nice Tut..
But i preferred KPN or KPH is Much better than Old Stock rom.. Lates Firmware are much smoother and Stable..
Besides even if you have v2.3.3+ Firmware like KPN from Kies you can still use your warranty because its an official stockROM.. Unless you rooted it or its a CostomROM with some tweaks..
NOYPI Here!

When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves.

Thanks for the Tuts
Thanks OP, i was hoping to get my phone to the service center but the Downgrading part is pretty long from KPH to FroYo (First European froyo and then indian).
My trouble is shortened
will kies recognize it or keep saying update unavailable or cannot update this device
Anyone try this downgrade? So do this mean we can downgrade direct from GB europe to this asian version?
Finally!
I've tried to downgrade with KIES' fw but all of 'em don't work
This works.
Thnx)

[Q] Flashing difference between HTC Desire & SGS 2

Hi Guys
I have recently bought new SGS II phone. I have been using HTC Desire and got more than 1 year of flashing experience almost every week i used to flash new ROM or updates to MIUI Rom. Touch wood i never bricked my phone.
I have rooted my SGS 2 with CF root method. Flashing Samsung device seems to be confusing me. There are so many kernels, Firmwares and even themes are dependent upon which firmware i am running.
I used to flash any rom for HTC desire without worrying about which firmware i originally got.
My carrier is T-mobile UK and running Kernel 2.6.35.7 KG2, can i flash any latest kernel or i need to match anything ?
My firmware is I9100BOKG1, can i update this to any firmware or it must be from UK and same carrier ?
Basically i do not understand what i can do and what i can not. I have searched for these all information everywhere on google but can not find any satisfactory answer.
Expert guys please help me.

Read and learn is the only way .

No flash anything bar ICS.

If you flash a kernel you will lose TMobile update path .
You can simply upgrade via the stock roms thread which debrands your phone or wait for TMobile upgrade but root may throw that out as its not the kernel that came with the phone .
Best solution is to read post one full of how to stickies .

xxlp2 Problem... Help !

hi there,
I have just purchased a Samsung Galaxy s2 UK unlocked from a friend, the kernel says 3.0.15-i9100xxlp2-cl57619 [email protected] #3 which i believe is a beta unstable version of ICS.
This version is very buggy i cant even add images to contacts, i have tryed flashing other kernels which just lock up the phone, plus i cannot upgrade this via kies "kies your device does not support software upgrading via kies"...
my question is what kernel do i need to flash onto this with either a stable ICS version or a stock gingerbread so i can update via kies...
Regards
