Galaxy tab 10.1 vs iPad volume? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anybody who has both tablets compare the headphones output volume, sound clarity etc? I had Asus Transformers (3 of them...) and on my last 4 flights I couldn't hear the movie dialogues, that's how low the volume output from Asus was. ( using Sennheiser Noise canceling headphones, with volume switch, volume on Asus all the way up) I am flying between US and Europe 18 times a year and I need tablet that I can load with movies and have entertainment for the 11 hrs flight. I returned Asus because of the volume and other issues, now deciding between Samsung and iPad2.
Please I am not looking for comparison between operating systems, I am leaning towards Samsung at this point, but can't compare the volume in the stores.
Thank you for your inputs.

Have recently replaced ipad 2 32gb with galaxy tab 10.1 and have noted a clear improvement in loud speaker volume on galaxy tab 10.1 owing to dual speakers. Plus 5.1 dolby mobile enhancement further increases the volume giving a richer effect. headphone audio out should be better too though haven't compared as ipad 2 was without earphones but tab comes with nice pair.

I fly A LOT as well and haven't had any trouble with my 10.1 when listening to movies I've ripped. I don't know how you're getting movies on your tablet, but for good measure, you can also amplify the volume as you rip DVDs with some ripping software.

I've spent time a fair amount of time with the iPad 2 and with the tab, and video playback and sound on the tab is far superior in my opinion.
Watching 720p video on the tab is way better than 1024x768 video on the iPad, and the simulated 5.1 surround sound from the default player is surprisingly good.

I am already using this on my Samsung Galaxy S2 and was using it on the Asus Transformer as well. Still the volume on the tab was very low. Using Handbrake for converting video files.

Why can't you compare the volume in the store? Walk into best buy with your headphones, load up the same videos on each and give them both a listen. I did compare the headphone output of my transformer verses my galaxy tab and the tab is only slightly louder, but the built in speakers are much better.

best portable speakers for the transformer

hey guys i have look around the forums for the best portable speakers for the transformer but i have not found the information i am looking for
since you all know the TF speakers aren't the best i am looking for small perhaps battery operated speakers for my TF, now i have looked at the speakers people have mentioned in other threads but i am not sure if the sound on those particular speakers are any better then the ones the TF because the speakers some one may use on a phone may be quieter then one may use on a tablet
so if you guys could recommend some speakers perhaps around 20 bucks that would be great but if its more then is ok to
thanks in advance
hard to beat the x-mini II capsule speaker @£13 shipped from amazon uk
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Generation-Capsule-iPhone-Laptop-Speaker/dp/B001UEBN42
you can daisychain multiple units or do what i do and use a stereo splitter and 2 speakers to get stereo output, but even using just one it beats the TF speakers (and most laptops) comfortably for volume and delivers superior audio quality including decent bass response.
Look up "foxLv2 Portable Bluetooth Speakers" on Amazon.

I just received Monster ClarityHD Precision Micro Bluetooth Speaker from amazon. Overall, its a pretty good speakers for the price $70.00 I was amazing at how far the range was. My tablet was 30 feet away from the speakers and it was still able to pull in the sound without any issues. There are buttons on the speaker that will let you could adjust the volume and also switch tracks. There is also a 3.5mm audio input jack which you could use instead of using bluetooth. The sound is pretty good. Much better then the speakers on the TF. Overall, I am pretty happy with the purchase. At first when I was trying to pair the speakers with my tablet I kept on getting FC with Prime 1.6. I eventually had to do a data wipe in order to get it to sync.
I got these a week or so ago. They put out pretty good quality sound considering the price and are very portable and cheap.

I've received mine yesterday and I'm really really impressed about the volume and the sound quality for so little speakers..also very good the bass response..
I've bought only one to try it (13£ shipped from amazon uk) but I think I will buy at least another!
I recommend this one to everyone!!
I went with this one http://www.amazon.com/iHome-iHM60GT...733E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1318962556&sr=8-3. It gets pretty loud and bass response is pretty good for such a small speaker. I picked mine up at Target so I could just return it if I didn't like it, but I like
When I connect BT speakers and watch video with DICE player it will slow down to an absolute slo-mo with no sound. Nobody else have that problem using BT speakers?

So I just compared mp3 audio quality w/ my iPhone 3GS

As the title says, I just compared audio quality with my Galaxy Note and my iPhone 3GS....
I can honestly say that the Galaxy Note is up to par if not a teency bit better than the 3GS. It doesn't get AS loud as the iPhone 3GS, but on its max volume it sounds like the equivalent of the iPhone.
I even compared equalizer settings on the Music Player app and with the equalizer settings of the iPhone, same thing!
I'm sure this bad boy hooked up to a car stereo or a different kind of amp would produce even better results and would make apply fanboys realize they're retarded.
I'm very surprised as people were saying that this would be like the Galaxy II and the sound would be sucky.
Just letting you guys know that the audio quality is pretty damn good!

Is there an android media player with dolby headphone support?

or any other hrtf for that matter? I'd like to be able to use this as i watch films on my commute. Are there any media players that offer headphone virtualisation of any sort? Or is the only option to reencode to dolby headphone?
The Samsung Galaxy players I believe
Thanks for the reply. I checked the video player on my galaxy tab 7.7(P6800) and it doesn't seem to have any options relating to this. It also can not decode dts (most of my films have sound in this format) unless I am mistaken.
Dolby Headphone on Android - would be nice

Yeah that would be an awesome treat. We've got all this processing power nowadays in these new tablets and it would be no problem to have that feature.
I'm a Dolby Headphone evangelist - I tell everyone how much I love that technology.
I've been using DH in my laptop's DVD playback software (like Cyberlink) for probably 7 years and just love it for 5.1 stuff. I have standalone Pioneer DH headphones for my X-Box and also a little JVC DH box (takes optical or stereo input). I always listen to my stereo music over that JVC box because it sounds so much better in that soundspace than regular stereo. Plain old stereo sounds like it comes from the center of your brain, whereas DH stereo sounds like you have speakers on the desk in front of you.

Exactly. I use the the cyberlink plugin for watching films while traveling on my laptop as well and it does a really decent job especially if you have a half decent DAC. I'm not a fan of it with music though. The technology is old and carries a very small overhead for modern devices. Given how many people watch videos on their phones\tablets using headphones while commuting I'm amazed that there isn't more of a push on this. None of the likes of bsplayer or dice player seem to have any form of hrtf. I'm guessing it comes down to licensing with dolby. Sadly we'll probably have to wait for apple to do it for it to become mainstream.
Flowswik it appears you were right, there is a hrtf function in the Samsung Galaxy player. There is a button next to the volume control which will pop up a menu where you can select 5.1. A 2 minute sample of breaking bad (only thing with dolby 5.1 on the tablet, samsung player doesn't stream well over lan) seems to show promise, decent surround effect but the dialog is a little muffled. First impressions are that dolby headphone does a better job but i'll report back once I've had a chance to watch some more content.

[Q] Loudest Current Android phone (headphone out)?

I thought it might be interesting to ask around and find out which current generation Android phone has the loudest 3.5mm audio output.
I presume there are many other users like me who plug their phone's aux output into various devices for music on a daily basis. Plugged into my car stereo's aux in, I have to turn the stereo up anywhere from 20 to 40+ in volume to get an adequate sound depending on the phone, so there is a lot of variation.
I'd love to hear from someone who has had hands on experience with a few different 2012/2013 Android phones to find out which is the loudest, seeing as I'm going to be ready to upgrade soon, and this will heavily influence my purchase.
Here's my previous phones ranked in order of the loudness of the aux output when plugged into an external device:
> Galaxy Note N7000 (CM9) <-- This was the most glorious loud clear output I've ever gotten out of a phone. 9/10
> Oppo Find 5 (current phone). Only fractionally louder than the Note II. Good overall sound. 7/10
> Galaxy Note II N7100 (Stock rom). Quiet, but louder than the stock Note. 6.5/10
> Galaxy Note N7000 (Stock rom). Really quiet. 6/10
If you have listened to any of these phones and can rate other devices compared to these, please copy and paste the list and put it in.
In particular, I'd like to know where the HTC One, LG G2, and Galaxy S4 would fit in.
Many thanks
And hopefully this can be of use to some other Android fans who use their phones for music
Reviving an old thread
If you want loud audio output then stay away from Sony phones as even their mp3 players are too quiet.
LG's have a reputation for good loudness.
HTC sucks apart from maybe the ONE with it's built in amp (but the beats crap makes it suck)
A Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is surprisingly loud and the audio quality is superb (especially for a tablet)
But if you want the best audio output then as much as I hate to say this, the iphone 5S is the winner in that aspect
This is because it has the best amplifier out of any phone I have heard and is even able to power some insanely high
impedance over head cans.
What about 2015/2016 mobiles?
Any news on this threat?

External portable (bluetooth) speakers?

Hi all,
I recently decided to upgrade from an N7000 to the N9005. And what a change it is ^_^ I can finally keep up with the latest games and whatnot.
I however find the Note 3 speaker terrible. It distorts with the slightest sound it seems. I tried a few units and it seems to be a problem with most Note 3s.
Does anyone know of any portable speakers (preferably bluetooth) that aren't too expensive? I'm not really looking for high quality here. Mostly to use with podcasts and some gaming. I looked around for some soundbars, but they are very expensive apparently

I personally use this http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...,electronics&rh=i:electronics,k:hmdx jam plus
It is loud enough for outdoors and perfect for indoor use.
Thanks for the tip! I'll see if they'll ship to Europe or if amazon.de/.co.uk carries it
Edit: Found one in .nl I'll go have a look tomorrow ^^

my wife likes the jbl flip they come in colors (except pink) she can listen to her music and answer calls'
i like my jbl charge no call answering but real loud and my headset stays connected for calls
I recommend the Jambox Mini. On sale $30 cheaper than I just paid at a big box store. It comes in several face design and color options and the sound puts the more expensive Beats Pill to shame.

SO. GOOD.
I have an Oontz by Cambridge Soundworks, it was only 50.00 shipped. I love this thing it's incredibly loud for its small size. My girlfriend has one she also loves it, and my mom has a different model than us and it sounds equally good. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_pp_2?rh=i:aps,k:Oontz&keywords=Oontz&ie=UTF8&qid=1394169461
