Ok, first I've done some search and I've try different things...
I'd like to flash my Hero (T-Mobile) with an updated HTC ROM for the Hero, ok it should be easy, like in WM time ;-)
But I cannot run the "RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.38_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe" through Wine for example. So I've setup a virtual XP machine (VirtualBox rocks) But this don't work either...
So the real question: how to flash "official" ROM from microSD?
I mean I've probably to "unpack" the content of "RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.38_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe" in a certain way and use the update fonction from recovery mode. So if somebody has the answer it will be cool to share

I downloaded the andriod installer on my computer, along with HSPL, HSPL2, and HSPL3.
My objective is to hopefully get android on my Leo.
Ive read all the threads and im just really confused...I ran HSPL2 and i get an error screen that says i have a bad Model ID.
PLEASE HELP ME...IM SO LOST!!
You have some options:

First of all you dont need to flash and thing to run android. It is in beta currently and is ran buy haret which is kinda like a emulator. When you read the link below you will realize that it has all kinds of problems. Those problems are known.There is also a Faq about those problems and what you can do to help solve them.
there are not instructions on how to operate android. By trying this we assume you know a little bit about android.

That would seem like its just gunna cause more problems. there is still problems with power management. So its gunna eat away at his battery. This I know because I run android almost full time and thats a risk i'm just willing to deal with.
Secondly it boots right into android no stopping at windows. So if something goes wrong he is stuck. And will have to reflash.
I tried it and couldnt tether and had to go right back. Maybe he doesnt need to tether so it could be fine but I really think he should start off slow.

Android is a completely different operating system than windows mobile. The android app store and the apps will not work in windows mobile!
If you try to install a windows application on linux OS you will fail too.

Please look at dates of threads before you reply to them. This thread is 6 months old. It was made before Android was finished being ported. I'm sure the people in this thread already know about Android.

I've got most SD builds working flawlessly... If there's any build you need, pm me. I'd be glad to help or share.
The stickied thread above also has the edited files for a lot of builds... I don't really think a new thread was needed about this. This probably should have been posted in the original build thread.

I am hoping you can help me I am just returning to flashing after about 4 months and see that NANDing is being done it was a theory when I last flashed and now see something else MAGDLR. Well at this point all I know is flashing to SD if i'm correct nand is the rom becomes your main rom when turing phone on no more WM bootup? What is the MAGDLR? Which way is best? If it's other than SD how do I do it? Where do I start?
I tried a MY Touch rom and really liked it but because so much has changed couldn't get it working fully and no one would give me any help (no response).
If your able to help I appreaciate it.
Magldr is the tool you flash to the phone first that allows your phone to flash android or wp7 to your nand, the internal memory. Yes, nand roms will replace winmo on your phone. Magldr also allows is to have wp7 or android on our nand and also still boot different sd android builds from the sd card also, allowing us to dualboot wp7 and android. The thread about magldr is in the nand android development section, and there are sticky threads about how to flash and install nand builds.

There was an awesome Sense ROM that was NOT HD/Z but had a flip clock. Do you remember/know what that was? I would love to boot that Via AD SD
otherwise just any regular Sense ROM (Desire port) that everything works in. The Z/HD ports always have some funky lag and serious battery drain, so can't really use as daily.
also FYI, this ROM freezes on startup every time (MAGLDR SD), seems like a bad rootfs.img or something...
Thanks everyone, i bought a 16bg nook tablet (for the 1gb ram) and booted from the SD successfully. but now have a couple more questions....
1) partitioning, i get, its easy in gparted or the windows manager, but for the life of me i do not see a quick guide on how to partition *correctly*. i see 5 partitions on the sd card, and the guide says to expand 4... but it wont let me. i have not tried gparted yet, but i assume if i cant expanded it now (in windows) that i am doing something wrong and will just bork it up in gparted. so.... any links to working partition guides ?
fyi, the partition tool in cm7 in the "cm7 settings" only gave me the option of "512 megs"... so not sure.. but i think the installer made the wrong partition sizes ? dunno... im new and assuming alot based on alot of windows crap and limited linux interactions...
2) installing TOO the device itself: in the one guide above it does not mention rooting, so i assume when you boot to cm7 off a sd, and then go to "install image" that it will root, lay down the new image and all is well... am i correct in that assumption?

Until now I was testing Remix on a flash drive, most of the stuff is running great, so I think it's time to try it on the HD.
So here's the question, it's possible to install RemixOS on HD without create partition?
I want Remix to be installed in a regular folder in my HD, with an option to select it in the OS selector when PC starts, and I want it to use data.img instead of something else... Basically just like Phoenix OS.
Is this possible?

For Hard Disk Installation:
NOTE: Currently, installation tool only supports Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10, with a minimum capacity of 8GB. Users of other operating systems, please install on USB flash drive.
1. Download the Remix OS for PC package, which contains the Remix OS for PC ROM & Installation Tool.
2. Open the Remix OS Installation Tool and follow the instructions to install Remix OS for PC on your hard disk.
3. Reboot your PC.
NOTE for UEFI boot: press special key (F12 for Dell, F9 for HP, F12 for Lenovo, Option Key for MAC) while booting to enter boot menu and ensure that Secure Boot is disabled.
4. Select Remix OS in Windows Boot Menu.

I'm triple boot Win 10, win7 and Phoenix OS, so I'm a little afraid of mess things up.. It would be a nightmare.......

The hard drive installation will create a folder called "RemixOS" and add a boot entry for it in the Windows boot loader. In that folder is the kernel, initrd.img, system.img, menu.lst and some other files. An 8 GB data.img will be created on first boot. Those who have problems with booting are typically using a third-party method to install it.

It appears that for the issue mentioned in the link you posted the solution is to simply disable Secure Boot. I don't have much experience with UEFI myself, but on a BIOS system the installer worked perfectly, it didn't break either Windows or Linux Mint.

it also happened to me, i had to use lenovo's one click recovery...
now i installed remix on my d drive and it's fine, last time it went wrong, just because i tried to root it.. so just don't try to root and you'll be fine

Thanks for the support.
Fortunately (I hope) I'm on BIOS as well, cause I heard somewhere that disabling secure boot prevents Windows to boot. I don't know if it's a Windows requirement on UEFI machines...
Now it's time to build courage to install it....

So trying to root it cause your PC to not be able to boot into Remix and Windows? Whoa, that's scary man...
In your screenshot everything seems fine, and I can see that you have a bigger data than standard 8GB, did you expanded it using third part tools?

I expanded the data.img using this tutorial (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-tp2/138623-how-get-bigger-data-img.html). Don't mind the fact that it was originally made for Windows Mobile devices running Android on SD card, the concept is the same (add zeros to the end of data.img, then expand the partition table in the data.img to cover the extra space).

nope, as long as your data.img is much smaller than your actual harddisk, you will have no problems with speed.
yes, the instalation tool asks you what size you want to use, either 8, 16 or 32 GB can be chosen
