[Q] Can't find Filter option. - Optimus One, P500, V General

I wanna do this procedure on my phone
1. Press your device's < Home > button, then press < Menu >.
2. Select Settings and then Applications.
3. Select Manage applications.
4. Press < Menu >, the select "Filter."
5. Select "Running."
6. Select Calendar Storage.
7. Press "Clear data."
8. Wait for everything to re-sync.
But it maybe for "eclair" and I am on froyo. At step 4 when press menu I only get sort option. Can't find filter option anywhere. Am I missing something here? Or is there any alternate steps I can follow to get the same result?

In Gingerbread also the sort option alone is there. Alternatively, you can go to Application -> Manage Applications -> Running Services to select Calendar storage and clear data.

anyone else having issues with Market?

Market has stopped working on my Mini.. just doesn't download anything.. no errors or such.. but things just sit there saying downloading for hours.. but nothing happens..
anyone had this problem?
haven't done any tweaking or screwing around with the phone for weeks so I am not sure what could be up.
I've had it from time to time on my mini pro 2.1 (rooted) I'd put it down to busy servers or something. I just cancel and start again.
I am facing the same problem since 2.1 update. :-(
Sent from my E10i using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
meh.. I have been re-trying all day but its still not working.. trying to repair phone with SEUS but not having any luck with that either.. oh well.. time for another flash with Bin4ry's 2.1 flasher
Hi everyone,
Maybe I have a solution (only rooted devices).
First of all, let us get what we need.
- In case you don't have root - z4root.apk (totally free, can be find on net, no need to go for it to the market )
- Root Explorer
- Updated market: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9229751&postcount=1 (unsigned version) (cheers to shokmah)
The next step is to totally disable all kind of task killers, and stuff like that.
Turn of the phone, switch it back on. Wait a minute as mini loads fully (all system-background apps).
Now try to download from the market. I know, I know... but please try. Why bother? Because maybe, just maybe, task killer or some app running, and killing sys-background apps are killing also one of the google sys app, so the market wont work properly.
Nothing? Ok, lets go ...
Go to "Settings" -> "Applications" -> "Manage applications" (menu button) -> "Filter" -> "All applications"
Find market on the list and wipe app memory (the first option on the list). Also if you have an update installed - uninstall it.
After doing that step lets go to root explorer. And now...
- go to: /system/app
- tap the "Mount R/W" button on top (it will switch to "Mount R/O")
- find "Vending.apk" (SCREENSHOT)
- hold it down, and use "Move" option from the menu (SCREENSHOT)
- navigate to: /sdcard (just hit the back button few times)
- paste "Vending.apk"
- rename it to: "Vending_bak.apk" or something like that, to now thats the original one
- reboot your mini (switch off/on)
- after phone loads go to: "Settings" -> "Applications" -> "Manage applications"
- find "com.android.vending" (SCREENSHOT)
- wipe app memory (the second option on the list)
- uninstall app (the first option on the list)
Now is the part when we gonna need this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9229751&postcount=1 (unsigned version).
- put the downloaded apk on your sdcard
- start Root Explorer
- navigate to: /sdcard
- click on the new market app you just put there, and copy it (or move, whatever)
- navigate back, and to: /system/app
- tap "Mount R/W"
- paste it
- change name to "Vending.apk"
- tap 'n hold down the app // from the menu choose "Permissions" (SCREENSHOT)
- tap the options to get this: SCREENSHOT
- tap "OK"
- get out, and reboot your phone
Now just click on the market app from all applications, and see if you can download something (wait just a bit longer - the download may start in about 15-30 seconds after you see the prompt) . This works for my GF. She was suffering from the same issue as you guys, and that helps.
If it's not helping, there must be another error, that I'm not aware off... sorry in that case. Trying to help, and share.
Hope it helps, cheers

Do this anyway, the market is unusable without it.

[Fix] MMS for VM/Boost Running Sprint ROM

In no way did i write this. I stumbled onto this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794956 (many thanks AlpineMan btw) and have seen the question here in the Evo 3d section a few times and thought it was worth a share for those running a Sprint ROM and VM or Boost service. I did step one and it worked like a charm. And to me any fix is a good fix. Especially in the land of root phones.
Method 1 - (the real fix, but requires a rooted phone):
***UPDATE***
I've confirmed that this method works on Jellybean ( 4.2.2). Tested and working on VM Evo 3d
1a) Download this working Sprint APN xml file: https://www.box.com/s/40x5ac2c6u0ckzfz59ig (click on download button at the top)
OR
1b) For Boost, download this xml file: https://www.box.com/s/o9folfrq00ee9p2qj5pv (click on download button at the top)
OR
1c) For Virgin Mobile, download this xml file: https://www.box.com/s/9itl21drpp84enqeszc9 (click on download button at the top)
2) Download and install "APN Backup & Restore" from the Google Play Store to your phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...pRestore&hl=en
3) Convert the "APN Backup & Restore" into a system app by either using Titanium Backup, or simply use Root Explorer/ES File Explorer (root enable it) to move the APK from /data/app to /system/app.
4) Reboot the phone.
5) Launch the app, click on menu, then click on "Disable ICS Check".
6) In the main app menu, click on "Backup APNs". This will create a directory called "ApnBackupRestore" in your /mnt/sdcard.
7) Copy the xml file from step 1 to the /mnt/sdcard/ApnBackupRestore folder.
8) Go back to the main app menu, click on "Delete APNs" and confirm it.
9) Go back to the main app menu, click on "Restore APNs".
10) Choose the file you downloaded from step 1 and confirm it.
11) Reboot your phone.
12) Done.
Method 2 - (work around, doesn't require rooted phone)
1) Download and install Go SMS Pro to your phone from the Google Play Store.
2) Launch Go SMS Pro and skip through the intro message screens.
3) Skip the Go Chat Service offer unless you really want that.
4) Press Menu button on your GS3.
5) Choose Settings.
6) Scroll down the menu and choose Set default SMS program.
7) Press each entry in the list and put a check mark on "Use by default for this action" then choose Go SMS Pro. When both are done, press the back button on your phone.
8) Up on top, press "Advanced"
9) Scroll down the list and press "MMS Settings"
10) Scroll down the list and put a check mark on "Fill APN configuration manually"
11) Press "MMSC".
12a) Type in "http://mms.sprintpcs.com" - do not include the double quotes. Press OK button.
OR
12b) Type in "http://mm.myboostmobile.com" for Boost
OR
12c) Type in "http://mmsc.vmobl.com:8088/mms?" for Virgin Mobile
13) Press "MMS PROXY".
14) Type in "68.28.31.7" (Sprint & Boost) OR "205.239.233.136" (Virgin Mobile) - do not include the double quotes. Press OK button.
15) Press "MMS PORT".
16) Type in "80" (Sprint & Boost) OR "81" (Virgin Mobile) - do not include the double quotes. Press OK button.
17) Press back button on phone twice.
18) Send/receive a few SMS/MMS messages to test.
19) Done.
Works for Kit KAt (4.4) too
Hey,
Method 1 works for Kit Kat 4.4.1. I'm on a VM evo 3d with the CyanogenMod 11.0 VILLUMINATI Rom
The only difference is the app has to be moved to the /system/priv-app folder for it to be able to acquire the correct permissions.
I also did step 3) with titanium backup, not sure if it helped or not.
Cheers.

[Q] GT5830: CM11 GoogleMaps install error 961

GT5830: CM11 GoogleMaps install error 961
Hi,
My Galaxy Ace GT5830 is running CM11
cm-11-20140326-NIGHTLY-cooper++.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587481)
It works fine... but I don't succeed in GoogleMaps installation.
Using PlayStore to install GoogleMaps, I get:
Code d'erreur inconnu lors de l'installation de l'application: "961"
Translated in english, it could be:
Unknown error code during application installation: "961"
What could I do?
Regards.

PS: Sorry for the froggy way I write english.
Android Fix: ‘Unknown Install Error 961′
Here's how you fix Install Error 961:
Method 1: Clearing the cache and data normally
1) To do this, go into your phone’s settings, then Applications (or Apps or Application Manager), swipe to the left to ”All” and scroll down until you find Google Play, tap on it.
2) In the app information page, tap on the button to empty the cache.
3) If this doesn’t solve the problem, try to delete the data from the Play Store which is found on the same page (Settings > Manage applications > Google Play > Delete data). This will most probably work, since it had worked in my case when I suffered with the problem in my android.
unknown install error 961
Method 2: Go to recovery mode and try again
If the above simple method doesn’t solve your problem, then a more thorough option is to do a system cache clear on your android device. Follow the following steps:
1) Power off your phone.
2) Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
3) Use volume down to navigate to ‘Recovery’, use volume up to select. You should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android.
4) Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery.
5) Use volume rocker to navigate to ‘wipe cache’ and use power button to select
6) Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to ‘reboot system now’ and use power button to select.

I really wish to change to App Vault
Flash Xiamoi. EU, It's already included both of them.
Hey Bolaide!
To replace Google discover with the app vault you just need to install one or two apps and plugins. Just copy the following steps exactly.
Step 1. Install the CPL (customized pixel launcher). If asked by a prompt select the CPL option (also check on the "remember me" option.)
Step 2. Go to "settings". Search and select "default launcher". Then select "cpl launcher".
Step 3. Go to home page and long press and select "home settings". Open google feed. Then get a new plugin for the phone named "CPL google feed plugin". This will redirect you to a github page. There select the "assets 3" option and download the "cpl_plugin.apk" file.
Step 4. After that go to the "File manager">download>cpl_plugin.apk. You will see a prompt, select "install".
Step 5. Go to home and long press the screen. Select Home setting"> google feed> display google app. Turn it on.
Now scroll from left and discover the google discover.
