[Q] themezipper - Milestone XT720 Themes and Apps

Can i use theme zipper on the stock xt720 rom?
All i really wanna do is get the black bar across the top lol
and ive been having way to many issues with other roms.

If you are only applying one thing, you can just use Metamorph from the market (rooted). Then go to Droidpirate.com and find you notification bar you want and follow the dorections.
Quick and easy. Zipthemer can do multiple changes as once in an update.zip style.

ty sir!! you just saved me from bricking my phone again i think

K so i just had a issue i applied a notification bar and now i cant see the time. lol. everything is black. Any idea's. I already tried to reapply the thing. dident work.

What version of Android are you using? Stock to me means 2.1 from Motorola, but I'm realizing that now people may mean Dexter's 1.3 as released by Cincinnati Bell.

IIRC changing the clock color can't be done by a theme, you have to edit the framework. Or something like that. What version of Android are you using? Stock to me means 2.1 from Motorola, but I'm realizing that now people may mean Dexter's 1.3 as released by Cincinnati Bell.

The clock color is contained in the services.jar file. You would probably also need a modified xml in framework-res that controls the ticker text (e.g. the text that flashes on the statusbar when you updated an app from market) & the color of the date that displays when the status bar is expanded.

Funny how that works. It's like Prime Rib being the new Ham for Xmas dinner.

Gingerbread Theme Dj Steve's 1.4.6v1

Greetings,
I present a small taste of Gingerbread before the real deal. This time around you can install via clockwork recovery which seems to be easiest for all. Download gingerbread146v1.zip to the root of your sdcard.
Boot into clockwork recovery (hold vol + and vol - then power on select option 2).
Select option to install zip from sdcard.
Select option choose zip from sdcard.
Select gingerbread146v1.zip and begin install
Back out to the main screen and reboot system.
First boot will take a bit after installing zip.

Unfortunately at this time it is only for Dj Steve 1.4.6 Froyo. I will make a version for Official 2.2 when Dell releases a stable build.
Looks great, nice and clean. Just needs the text colour sorting and the loading animation seems wonky to me, otherwise good work thanks.
Will this work with the percentage battery pkg? Also, does it have the new keyboard? I'm curious about the keyboard.

I tried installing the percentage battery pkg after installing this, but it ends up breaking the Gingerbread theme. It does not have the new keyboard, but you can install that separately and it will work.
I like this theme alot but the names under the icons need to be white so that I could read them. They are black, only when you press them can you see what the name is.
I like the theme as well. Will it also be updated to work with Steve's 1.5.0 soon?

Had a friend and coworker assist with updating the text color in context menus. Unfortunately it did not work out as planned. I will probably replace the black menus back to white so it looks proper and should take care of the black on black as well. Thanks for your interest.
Will use this as soon as the menu issue has been fixed... thanks Quikt
working on v1.5.1,
menu text still black,
launcher pro dock and icons are custom
it doesnt look quite right when compared to official gingerbread.

Tweaker (Stock MMS 'Tweaked' Themes)

First let me say that I am not a dev nor can I properly edit .9.png files yet. These are just 'Tweaks' I made to the Stock Samsung MMS by switching png files. A few are quite nice while others,... well, I included them because someone just might like them. Right now these are installable manually which is faster than flashing. I do hope to have them in flashable form soon, however.
The installation instructions are step by step so any noobs can install with no problems. Use the paid version of Root Explorer. First delete or move you current Mms.apk to your external SD card (in case you want to reinstall it later). Then place the new Mms.apk in System/app, longpress on the file and choose 'Permissions', uncheck the boxes to match rw-r--r--. If the new app doesn't show up right away, reboot.
I have no probems sending Sms or Mms and get all my audio notifications although I know this is not the case with everyone. I don't have all the answers, so if you can help with any information on why certain people can't send Sms or Mms, please share it. And if you want to just say 'Thanks' to anyone, please use the 'Thanks' button
Thanks for their work go to Team Whiskey, MikeyMike01, KCB877, TonicAcid, and the devs of BlackFroyo!
I've attached thumbnails for you to see what you are getting! I've covered up my contact picture with various symbols (arrow, hat, etc), so these all include the contact picture. Look at the bottom when viewing the thumbmails to see what .apk version you are looking at. I'll place the .apk's in the first post.
Edit: I forgot to mention that these have the green Gingerbread icon. I will work on Black icons soon.

went through various themes and roms and patched a bunch together. I didn't edit any pngs as I stated before, I used different bubbles, icons, notification icons etc and put them all into one. I also edited the contact pictures out using ninja morph to get rid of the gradient and blank contact pic so it's black, I don't use contact pictures at all.
Also, if you want a dark icon look at the one I used for Loki 2.0, it's a dark launcher icon, still the smiley launcher like the green and blue, just dark. Grab the blue launcher I have too, it's not the bright one that was floating around, its the normal blue, matches well with the themes or the other blue icons like navi.

Sorry guys, no one has posted in here in forever, so I just poke my nose in every once in a while to check the downloads. Yes, it does fix the blurry mms problem, but not the current one on 2.2.1 Roms. For that there are two fixes, the first from the new 4g port, and then Jellete made a separate one.

Your welcome, duce! That is a good question and I don't know the answer because it depends upon the theme you are using I think. Right now I'm using clean tangerine, so my notification icon is orange. I'll guess that the default icon is blue, knowing Samsung, lol!

Just to be more exact, the reason a captivate rom would not work with this is because of AT&T. They have some message center that their particular mms app calls. Everything will work fine until you try to send something, then it will FC. I know this because the original mms that I made was the Gingerbread one made by MikeyMike from the Captivate threads. It was a phenomenal app with more funtionality and twice the size (in bytes) as any other mms.apk I'd seen.
Apk's can be really strange. The Galaxy Tab email.apk will work in either 2.2 or 2.2.1. So will the TouchwizGTG launcher from the Tab as well as many other .apk's. Then you come across some that don't work like the OceanWaves live Wallpaper. Just didn't want you to automatically assume .apk's from other Roms would automatically not work. You must test them yourself.

I'm still investigating what works with what. It would be easier if I would flash something else and test it myself, but I'm not willing yet. My health hasn't been that great lately. I can manage to edit simple .9.png's though, so that might goad me into redoing everything.

Remove Carrier text from streakdroid 1.8.1

Hi,
a lot of people wants to change their carrier text.
But they don't wont to edit their framework, because they think it is to complicated....
I made a zip with a framework integrated, where the carrier name is removed from the lock screen (only the default lockscreen) and the statusbar. Also in the expanded statusbar the carrier is removed and reseted by "Have a nice day!" --> just have a look at screenshots
When you have no services the text wouldn't change in the expanded statusbar.
it is only for streakdroid 1.8 /1.8.1 and you do this on your own risk !!!!!
to do:
First copy framepupclock.zip and recoverframe.zip to your sdcard
Than load framepupclock.zip with clockwork mod. --> reboot and be happy if it works.
If you have an error just load recoverframe.zip
I tested it only on my streak with streakdroid 1.8.1 but I think it should work on every streakdroid 1.8 or 1.8.1
also loaded the files to another server
framepup.zip: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KO0GLZC8
recoverframe.zip: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KO0GLZC8
by the way sorry for my bad english xDD
//edit: ok i changed the framework: "have a nice day" was replaced by a clock
Just load framepupclock.zip instead of framepup.zip
Is there an easy way to change these to say something else we prefer?
I have done research and it looks like hex editing, etc.
Thanks for the help.
Thank you to anyone who helps remove the word AT&T from my device.

When you want to change the "have a nice day" to something else you ave to decompile/compile with apktool ---> long steps. Maybe when i have enough time I will change the "have a ice day" into a clock or something like that.
nope , Ive tried that app on 1.7 and now im on 1.8.1 and didnt work either.
I'll keep a look out for an update. I'm carrier locked to AT&T.

Maybe depends on the carrier. Locked o2 phones work but locked A&T not. I think the app only rewrites the /system/etc/spn.xml...
where in the framework-res.apk can you remove the carrier text from the statusbar only?

Greyblur Theme Only (CWM) - updated 5/3/11

So at least there was one request for this so here it is. I tested it and it seems okay. This is based on Ken's 2.1 GreyBlur which I think is still on ATT's 1.57 rom, it does work on 1.83 though. Just like the gingerbread only theme, everything is stripped out to just basics.
Although I tested it, I am not keeping this theme, I prefer gingerbread look. So if you find some issues, post here maybe I can take a look. I am not that great a editing either, just learning.
Thanks to Ken for the rom base, and for jim and noattch for various editing tips!

- updated with gray menu text so works on third party apps like root explorer.
Add On
Themed Mms.apk with darker grey icons so it shows over the light grey status bar. Backup your old Mms.apk.
- Flashable zip for the Mms.apk only --> http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KD1154LB

V1 - based on greyblur 2.1 (att 1.57)

- first boot takes a while, there isnt a real bootanimation so all you see is the GreyBlur text for a long time, but don't worry it's working lol.
oh i forgot, in the next version I'll update the menu text so it appears correctly in third party apps, sorry about that.

My only gripe is when I flashed the theme.zip, when I get a new text it doesn't show the message icon, it only lists the name of the person sending it and a message. Other than that, incredible work.
Edit, I take that back, it's just really really really faint. If you could somehow make the icon black, it would show up perfect.
Is no one else having this problem?

App icons are controlled in their separate APKs. This theme is just for the system, it doesnt theme apps. Sorry. You can change it yourself though, pull the app from your phone (system/app/*) and go into the drawables folder, and replace it. then push the apk back where it came from.
EDIT: or much easier, just rip the proper text messaging APK from the greyblur rom and push it to your phone now, pretty simple. Keep in mind it will be on 1.5.7 since i dont think he updated greyblur to 1.83 yet, but I doubt much has change just in the messaging app.
Edit2: updated OP with themed mms.apk
I dont have this problem because I am using a third party messaging app, Handcent.

I read what you said. I just need some clarification as to what you mean by the 'messaging app'. The one I know is the messaging APK for greyblur 2.1. Yes. I know about that one.
So are you saying to pull the messaging app from greyblur 2.1 and replace the gingerblur one located in system/app ???
will that fix the message notification in the notification bar?

go into the greyblur rom, look inside system/app for the messaging APK. That one is themed for greyblur. Just replace the one you have now with that and it should be okay.
Can you also take a screenshot so I can see what you mean.
when i look in the files for greyblur, i can't find the messaging one. on gingberblur it's labeled mms.apk and is 513KB. on greyblur i saw one that says messaging.apk however that one is only 28kb.
i'll take a screenshot and show you what i mean.

Great, thanks! Will flash it later and let you know the result.
Not to sound really picky but I prefer the battery icon in the Galaxy version, but don't want the other replacement icons. Is it just a matter of unzipping the 'original' mod zip and replacing the icons within with the battery icons from the Galaxy version, then rezipping and flashing?
@others I believe GalaxyBlur is what you see in the first two images- ie data/3G/etc icons changed to the Samsung icons as well as the battery.

GalaxyBlur is just the random placeholder I gave my theme due to most of the files I added being from the SGS II system dump. It'll get a more cleaver name soon.
And Yes, this will go perfectly fine over Gingerblur 3.1 and GladiAtrix 3

Downloading v2 right now, will update this post when complete.
EDIT: Flashed, no problem. First boot after that took some time (thought it had broken something lol) but it eventually got there.
One thing you should probably note in OP is that the animations are now changed (looks like CyanogenMod's...?). Personally I don't mind but I think some people would prefer the stock animations which are slightly less fancy.
Now if only I could get the launcher menu to fade in or pop up smoothly as opposed to having it just appear...

Just tried it.... link worked for me. Maybe multiupload lost it for a minute.... Might give more mirrors later, but then that defeats the point of using that great site lol.

Great, downloading right now. Will update this post with results.
Edit: Flashed the stock anim version over the original v2. Works just fine, animations are a bit less... flamboyant?
Just wondering- does your application menu open smoothly (fly in or sth) with all animations on or does it just appear?
Thanks

How is this stock Gingerblur v2 different from this one besides the boot animation? Seems like the exact same thing to me...

Like I said in my first post in this thread, there probably was already a version like the one I had in mind, but (admittedly quick) searching didn't reveal anything.
That said I prefer the iconset in the v2 version here over the one you linked. Larger numbers and a bit clearer from what I see.

What icons are you talking about? The battery icon I assume? If so, then cool, thanks for the information. The other one apparently has grey menu text. Does this one?
