[Q] [HELP] Bricked my phone while applying theme! - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hi,
I flashed my SGA with android 2.3.4 KPH and then flashed the DarkMIUI theme via Clockworkmod using "install zip from sdcard". However on booting my phone got stuck on the glowing Samsung logo so i removed the battery, reinserted it, and flashed a new theme (Glowing Crysis). This time the phone did boot but showed a black screen with just the notification tray visible. I also got the error "com.sec.android.app.twlauncher has stopped unexpectedly" and my sim card was not recognized. Whatsmore, it also started going into bootloop! Cleaning the dalvik cache, performing a hard reset, flashing the default KPH theme...nothing helped. Finally managed to save my phone by following this unbricking guide.
Now my phone is as good as new and I'm extremely wary of installing any new themes. Can anyone pl tell where I went wrong?

it isnt bricked. no theme can break a galaxy...
if you made a ROM backup prior to your update, then you can recover that last backup you made.
else..
find the DEFAULT THEME FOR KPH. it can be found in this forum.save it in sd card
then run the CWM to run the zip..
there are lots of themes here for the default KPH.
example
themes to run on KPH
SOME GOOD SEARCH AND COLLECTION

u have ti first deodex ur kph rom to run those themes ....

[Q] [q] please help asap i think iv broke my beloved x10 :(

hi There
PLEASE HELP ASAP I THINK IV BROKE MY BELOVED X10
Im new to all this Mod stuff and i have no experience at ....... But I LOVE this Theme i found , its amazing!!!!!! so i rooted my phone using super oneclick, i then found RECOVERY, also got the theme [X.Gbread for 2.1 Official ROM 2.0.2.A.0.24 + Battery Circle] [new-v0.6]
Installed everything it all and was great!! everything went smooth, but some things were missing on the theme like the new swipe button, the wallpaper, the new clock etc so...... i then installed a previous version [X.Gbread for 2.1 Custom ROM AOSP], thinking that version had the bits i needed and the later version i installed first was a add-on, and now the phone will not boot up, it gets past the Sony Ericsson but wont boot past the Nexus S Bootanimation, then it restarts itself, and starts all over again, i dont know what to do as i know NOTHING about flashing phones. PLEASE HELP
Phone specs - what i had before
X10i
2.1 Update1
build no. 2.0.A.0.504
Rooted with SuperOneClick
Also busybox
Many Thanks
Leon
************* update i can get the phone to the Xrecovery screen, ive tried reinstalling both of the themes but it gets to the lock screen and when the lock comes off, a box comes up with a triangle exclamation mark on it that says 'Weeks' on it and underneath it says "year" with a button that says "%1$s %2$s" and when you press it nothing happens apart from sometimes the writing year changes to years, after a minute it reboots and does the same thing.
does anybody know how i could sort this out???
Have i 'bricked' the phone?? if so what does that mean and can i sort it?? would i be able to send it in for repair??
or how i could i flash i back to the original SE theme, with out it starting up????
hopefully somebody can save me because at the moment i have not got a phone and i love my x10 sooooo much!!!!!!
i knew i should have just left it alone!!!!!!!!
Thanks Leon
i would recommend you to do
1. a full wipe using the recovery
2. re-install the theme u wanted. (perhaps u should re-download the theme u wanted)
btw, did u install using the option "install custom zip"?
if those above does not helps,
1. re-install the firmware using SEUS or flashtools from Bin4ry
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201&highlight=flash.
2. root it and install xRecovery and then install the themes u wanted.
You'll have to really flash. The problem here was that you mixed up to FW (.24 & .504) when you installed the first theme... it clearly says for which version it is my friend....
So reflash to any ROM you want but check first the theme you're aplying and also if you have Xrecovery do a backup before any Mod so you don't have to reflash again...
Have fun you're not the first nor the last with this I've been there done that more than once....

I believe for my version no. 2.0.A.0.504 it came up with the same box as before, unable to get onto my homescreen but can see it in the background.
i dont know if i will be able to reinstall the SE firmware as it looks very complicated. im in England and it looks like i would have to use the Nordic software???? im not sure please could somebody let me know of any easier way of installing SE firmware back on???
thanks you so much for this

[Q] absolute system root tool bricked my Xperia Play

i have same problem that guy in another topic

i had boot animations ready to install same as fonts. so i tryed to install bootanimation on my xperia play and i did changed something in boot.prop language from en to pl but i left US unchanged. Now all what is working is fastboot and recovery... when it go past the freexperia screen it wont do anything else then black screen please help me...
Clam down. Wait for the black screen. The animation may not be working well, but system is booting up (I think).
If it doesn't boot, stack your Rom on top of current one without wiping. Then it will boot up successfully.
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
Pls take a look on file Flash.zip in attached. will it work if i will flash it just as the rom?
i take out most of files from cyanogen mod and just left bootanimation.zip
PS. Black screen wont pass and the file attached wont install by zip
PS. 2 Cant wait for answer. Flashed first rom then cyanogen mod all without wipe and besides no space on phone everything is good ;]
Just stay down Everytime facing problem.

Hello Fellow XDA'ers
Today i started rooting my SGS II with CF-TOOL for XWKK2 and that worked. secondly i tried to add a theme from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131746 so i installed it by recovery mode. i started up my phone again and it says cant load TW.Launcher.Connect or something. I was like oh. so i tried to put on a new theme from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154278 and now it sticks on this screen: http://www.google.nl/imgres?q=how+to+see+galaxy+s2+root+check&start=406&um=1&hl=nl&sa=N&tbm=isch&tbnid=LrkiHyngL3wLOM:&imgrefurl=http://www.elakiri.lk/forum/showthread.php%3Ft%3D1217605&docid=syBKpqoQsy7huM&imgurl=http://recenthottestnews.info/wp-content/plugins/RSSPoster_PRO/cache/d8dfa_rootingsgs5.jpg&w=620&h=465&ei=UqUZT7buH8Gh-QauvbWhCg&zoom=1&chk=sbg&iact=rc&dur=1721&sig=108334096676297027967&page=12&tbnh=179&tbnw=210&ndsp=37&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:406&tx=67&ty=66&biw=1647&bih=928
i was hoping if someone here with more brains than me could help me,
thanks in advance.

The first link modifies a whole heap of files, and the second one modifies far less files but also doesn't have a version for stock (odexed) KK2. What did you flash from the second one?
Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that they're not really comparable.
Easiest way to get back to a working state is to reflash your ROM or restore a nandroid backup if you took one. Messing around with trying to undo whatever you did might take a while.
Well i tried to install the theme throught recovery mode and now it stops there however i can get in download mode and recovery mode. I hope you got some more information for me so i can fix this
thanks for replying anyway

1) With rooting u also on stock firmware and not on Rom, which for theme is
2) Ur second link is for JKay Deluxe and this isn't a theme like u think, it's a modification tool for notificationbar, lockscreen and Power-off menu.
3) This screen is the normal bootscreen after flash (sign because not originally firmware [root])
I don't know how long u wait, but after flashing the JKay .zip it's normal that boot take some time (up to 3 min).
If u already wait so long an didn't boot u have to choices:
1) Flash original firmware again.
Search here and flash this like root via odin (READ INSTRUCTION!):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
2) Because cf-root u should have the CWM (ClockWorkMod).
- Go into Recovery Menu (Press Vol- ; Home and the Powerbutton 'til Logo like in third link appears)
- Then Choose Factory reset and after this make a reboot
If system isn't crashed in all u should get it work again, if not u have to choose point one.
If works u can choose a rom from here (like one u see in my signature), copy file on sd card and flash it via CWM (Go again in CWM and then "choose .zip from internal sd card">"flash .zip from internal sd card">then select .zip)
Much success. If anything unclear just let me know...

the above poster told you exactly what to do. if you have a backup rom just go into recovery and revert back to that and problem solved. no more to it. no need for any extra info but anyway if you say you have found a way good luck my friend

So I downloaded mods like:
-Wave lock
-Reboot Power menu
-Call Screen
-Camera HQ mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574676
Then I put them onto SD card turned off Phone Got to the CWM and then I choosed opion to instal from zip and installed all mods then rebooted device... Was it caused by incompatible Mods or by som mistake when installing via CWM? Could you please also post here some great mods if u know some? thank you!
Since i cannot tell you which one is causing problems, I suggest you to install only one of them. Try it, and if your phone works fine install teh second one. Again, if it's all right try the third one. until you find out which one gives you problems.

Installed all those at once in a single reboot?
Re-flash your stock rom and redo things up. Some files might be not compatible when installed all at once.
BTW, did you notice this post/notice on draco's OP?
Caution: If You own LWW, use Lasan MOD to avoid bootloop.
I'm guessing this is for one responsible for your bootloop:
[MOD] Reboot Power Menu and QuickPanel MDPI for XPERiA ICS 4.0.4 [UDPATE: 11.06.2012]
Final advice is to install this instead as it has the same function and verified to work on LWW. Download the (mini_mod_v1.8 for 2.3.4) version.
there is an older wave lock mod which bootloops the phone,
there should have been an undo zip then you should flash the mod again

reboot loop.. Please Help

HI,
My dell streak gets stuck on dell logo and then reboots again and again. it was not rooted and was working fine on froyo 2.2 O2.
Ive tried installing the update package from recovery mode by selecting install update.pkg from sd card but i get an error saying e:can't mount update.pkg.
After searching i performed an memory test from fastboot; Sd card test passes but the internal memory test fails and gives an error: Cmd/Data test fail. a few days back my computer had a trojan virus and it was converting the folder into shortcuts. I dont know for sure but i think it could have been the cause of this problem as i plug my phone to the pc almost everyday
ill be glad if someone can help me through this. plz can some1 help me through this.plz i really need my dell streak working ill appreciate any kind of help... Thank you

The trojan you are talking most surely affect only the SDcard, a friend of mine had the same issue on a different device.
I would recommend installing a custom Recovery like Streakmod, flash 366 bb and a ROM like DSC, Longhorn or LXdroid, as those mentioned have the universal kernel that don't check the BaseBand.
Totally wiping everything is a must!
Flashing recovery can be done easely using the MultiFlashing tool provided in the Android Development section, so all this mess wouldn't take more than 1 hour (with reading and wandering if it's safe - it is safe, ia assure you )
Hope this helps/works

Well, i will update the first post of my LXdroid ROM with a tutorial, if you want a fully funtional with the least amounts of bugs i will recommend DSC ROM.
But this is not required if you want to keep the original 2.2 firmware, as almost all the custom ROM's that i've talked about are 2.3.x.
the tutorial will be written, Your choice

As far as i know, you can't possibly install update.pkg using custom recovery, you must install a stock recovery and after that you can flash the update.pkg as it is (update.pkg), changing the extension does nothing
Hope this helps.

i am glad it is working again... :victory:
light keeps flashing mean your baseband is not matched with the current rom... you should do the upgrade... it is in dsc thread if you read it carefully... it should say something like flashme ... :good:
you may try other rom as well.. if you are interested.. such as longhorn, ics, lxdroid

Search the forum as there should be an article covering the process. In short, you either have to take the Streak apart, or cut away some of the plastic above the SIM card slot to get to the internal MicroSD.
