[Q] Keep Getting stuck when Flashing Roms - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried to flash Darian's rom and cherry blur v.5 and both have resulted in my atrix getting stuck at the "Dual Core technology" screen with "unlocked" at the top. If I reflash the stock gingerbread rom ive been using it works. Ive flashed with cwm both times. I can fix it by reflashing via fastboot to the gingerbread rom i initially flashed to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342. Both times I attempted flashing, i tried using a nandroid backup to restore but both times I get an error formatting /system.
I also tried reflashing cwm and got the same results. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Edit: so ive been tinkering...there is something wrong with the /data. I am unable to flash the data.img from the original rom as well as format the data through cwm.

If you got error formatting system the reason is you have a outdated CWM.
Bet you have a older version.
Does your cwm img file say this?
recovery-en-goapk-0630-1029.img
If not u have a old version update it.

[Q] CM7 Flash not working

hey guys, sorry but im a noob at this. i have a lg p500 with android 2.2 . i followed the instructions to root my phone and install a custom recovery. both worked. i also backed up my phone and performed a data/cache wipe on the phone from the recovery console. i was able to flash the cm7 into the phone. however, upon reboot, the phone kept getting stuck at a bootloop with the android 2.2 splash screen. AFAIK CM7 has its own boot screen. ive tried it twice with 2 different beta versions. any suggestions?
THANKS PPL!
Format system, for this flash the zip file from the first post. You will find "if you get bootloop".

Here's the link to the .zip that you can flash to fix this: system flash fix
When?
Thanks for the quick reply!
i do have a few more questions. when do i flash the format image on my phone? do i do it after creating a nandroid backup or do it do it after installing the custom ROM. and if i do install it, and if something goes wrong, will i be able to restore my phone back to its pre-flash state using a recovery image? please let me know. thanks so much!
wipe all, flash format zip, than flash cm7 zip.

You must flash: format system.zip first, then flash Mik's rom

Unable to install CyanogenMod 7 again!!!

Hello guys,
I would have not made this post without a reason! I have searched the froum and used google for over 2 days but dont have a solution for my problem that's why i opened the thread!
My SGS2 was on CyanogenMod 7 and i decided to try the leaked version of 4.0.3 (I9100XXKP8 to be exact) so i preformed a full backup via recovery!
After this i flashed 4.0.3 using ODIN and used it did a root on it and istalled CM9. I did this just to see the real difference between the 2 firmwares. Everything worked great i had no problems at all.
After i was finished playing around with the firmwares i decided to restore my CM7 backup! I had no problems booting into recovery and the restore worked fine! no errors or anything. After i selected to reboot my device i got a Kernel Panic and couldn't do anything!
So i flashed KI3 stock from sammobile and rooted it via CF and then again i tried to install CM7 which goes fine through the install no errors! when i select to reboot the phone i have the ''Samsung galaxy s2 screen'' in a reboot loop! I reflashed the phone again with KI3 and tried again i followed the instruction step by step including wiping data/factory reset and wiping cache the same thinghappens. I tried to restore the CM7 back which i made, the restore process goes through but i get a kernel panic! So i reflashed KI3 again i thought it could have been the bootloader... i got the old boot loader and flashed it but i keep getting the boot loop! The strange thing is i can flash CM9 and it works but CM7 will not install on my phone at all! I have tried flashing it 10 times in the last 2 days.
Can anyone help me fix this and get back to CM7 because i dont know what to do anymore my flash count went from 5 to 39 in the last 2 days!
Note: i have tried using recovery and RomManager neither of them work! Also tried Stable CM 7.1.0 and nightly builds!
Try this and then restore again:

Hi,
i have tried this now and i am still getting a reboot loop! So it dose not work at all :[
I'v had the same problem. It was solved by flashing the .pit file for cm7 with odin.
That is very strange. I assume that you did a factory reset after that procedure?

Yes i reset everything there was i did this whole guide step by step about 20 times tried everything! i even had help from the guys working on CM9. They couldn't help and told me to open a thread here :[
Well, the pit file is probably the best bet then. Good luck when you get it.
By the way I meant a factory reset after the kernel clean and restore.
Kernel clean -> restore -> factory reset.

I have tried this still no luck :[ Also tried previous back ups but the are not working either. I also tried to flash Villian rom 3 now and the only thing that happens it stays on ''Samsung Galaxy s2'' screen no reboot or anything for bout 10 min. tried to go into recovery but it isn't working :[ back to flashing KI3 again!
Which kernel were you using when you originally made that cm7 backup? Was it the stock cm7 kernel or perhaps siyah's? The kernel panics are probably due to using a cm9 kernel(recovery 5.5...) to restore a cm7 backup and then using cf-roots ki3 kernel(recovery 4.2...)to restore a cm7 backup. I'd try flashing siyah's kernel(recovery 5.0...) through odin and then try to restore that backup.
Hv u try flash the cm7 twice in cwm before u reboot?

Good point, the first install is usually quick, the 2nd one takes much longer and does the whole shebang.

The forum won't let me post links. Just google search "Odin_+Pit_+_Flashguide_-_I9100.rar".

Yes i have tried this about 10 times so far! I have read this on the Cyanogenmod forum but it didnt help : [
Re flashed 5.0.2.7 recovery and tried to do a restore. now the phone is stuck in a reboot loop again! So this dose not work either :[
Now i have also tried to do a fresh install of CM7 with the 5.0.2.7 recovery but it didn't work! I would be great full if anyone could help me!
Boot into recovery
wipe data/factory reset
goto mounts and storage > format system
install cm7 from sd card, then install it again right after
reboot
If this doesn't work throw the phone against the wall because this should work, unless flashing those bootloaders messed something up, or you flashed the wrong one.
as a last resort....
flash stock firmware.
flash cfroot kernel
try to flash cm again.
always works for me.

[Q] HELP! Can't Escape TWRP!

I can't escape TWRP!
My setup is this:
ROM: THS build 10
Kernel: ICYGlitch v14
Recovery: TWRP (included with ICYGlitch)
Recently, I wanted to flash ParanoidAndroid. I rebooted into TWRP via the power menu, made a backup, and tried to flash. It gave the error E: signature verification failed. Later, I tried turning off signature verification, but then it gave me another error. I then tried to flash cwm4_fixed_for_cm7, but it gave me the same error. Then I tried flashing the recovery through ODIN. It said it succeeded, but it still loads TWRP as the recovery. Help! I can't escape!
P.S. I know my way around the Fascinate, I'm not a complete noob.
try flashing cm7, then back to ICS, ...if all else fails odin back to stock start over.
Maybe
That would work, but I'd rather keep the Glitch kernel and stay on THS than start over. And there must be a way to change the recovery included with Glitch?
Let us know how that turns out for you. Good luck.

flash a older version of glitch that still utilizes cwm recovery. check my kernels section of the guide.
That would work except for the fact that I cannot flash anything from TWRP.

odin cwm4 fixed for cm7, then three finger and flash away.
Wait. Doesn't three-fingering on a MTD filesystem bootloop you?
at this point just odin back to stock and start over

I figured it out. I was able to flash an older version of Glitch with CWM recovery.
How did you flash an older version of glitch in cwm if you were stuck in twrp? I though you couldnt flash anything. I am confused???
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
Sorry. I meant TWRP. Here is the procedure that I used. I don't know if it is necessary, but it worked.
1. make a nandroid
2. restore to stock
3. ODIN cwm
4. install THS build 1
5. install THS 10 (substitute whatever ROM you're using)
6. install newest Glitch (with TWRP)
7. restore nandroid
8. install older, CWM glitch
I think this works because nandroids don't restore the recovery partition.
I was having instability with the older Glitch version, so I flashed the newer version again, and I can still flash stuff.
Okay. I got it now. I thought the whole reason you didn't want to start over was because you didn't have a backup of your current setup. That is why people were saying that you were going to have to start over.
Glad it worked out.

[Q] unable to flash clockworkmod recovery

Hello,
So I was trying to install cyanogenmod into my mother's phone using the instructions here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100 However, I got stuck at the 5th step of installing a custom recovery (clockworkmod) because heimdall simply refused to work. I have uploaded a pic of the error, I am hoping someone can assist me.... I have uploaded a pic of the error....
You could have check xda for that.
You can get CWM by flashing a custom kernel via odin or by flashing a zip file via recovery.

well I just tried the given steps again. This time it worked, but my phone is stuck in a bootloop. I am able to get into recovery (which is now CWM recovery) but nothing else. It's still bootlooped even after doing a factory reset..... I don't know what to do.
Wipe dalvik & cache.

[Q] [HELP] Formatted system and SDcard

background info:
samsung galaxy s3 i9300. Rooted with cyanogenmod Installer: http://beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install
A while ago I tried flashing a costum rom, however i wasnt fully satistied so went back to cyanogenmod. My SDcard space went from 11gb to 2gb left. I went to recovery (CWM Touch) and formatted system and sdcard (which was a huge mistake I believe). As far as I know, I have no rom installed right now after the format. Ive downloaded MIUI and put it on my external SD and tried flashing it from my external SD. After wiping dalvik, cache and factory reset flashing went well. When I press reboot device CWM says "root access is missing, root device?" Now there are 2 options: "no" and "yes root device (/system/xbin/su)". Both options result in my phone stuck at the boot animation.
I thought because I had no root, I had to flash a stock rom. So I downloaded a stock rom and tried flashing it. CWM said "installation aborted". So right now Im kind of clueless. Can anyone help me and tell me what to do? Ive been searchin this forum for quite a long time now. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards

yap, there was a lot of data I couldnt access. I wanted to clear the whole SD and flash a new rom so I could basically start over again with a fresh new SD
Which stock rom you installed??
And are you able to flash that miui rom you talking about now??
If it asks fit root just click no.. That's a problem I guess with the recovery not detecting root but you still have it.. just not into your rom by clicking no... then if you don't have root you can flash a supersu file through recovery..

Yes, unless it is a repackaged stock rom you must use odin, not CWM to flash it. You could try using archie's rom or one of Wanam's in CWM. Or download a repacked stock that is flashable in CWM.

Yes the MIUI rom has been flashed "succesfully". Only thing is when I reboot my phone, it gets stuck at this screen:
