[Q] streaming from pc to vibrant help. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried various apps. I have been able to connect to my network browse all files. Its just when I go to play the file it says wrong format. The funny thing is I can place these files on my vibrants SD and play them fine...
I am using trigger redux cm7 and loving it!!!!!

Anyone lol?

Files will stream if they are encoded to do so and are in a format that the vibrant can play. Mp4 files with the file info in the header would be your best bet.
Another option would be to use a streaming server/client solution like box stream and convert.it is available in the market.

What do you mean by "in the header " and I tried getting both those apps couldn't find anything pertaining to streaming or encoding.

When you have the Vibrant then you have AllShare preinstalled...you use it?
Cause with AllShare you can watch all the vids that are on your PC via Mediaplayer...all you have to do is, add the Moviefolder to the Mediaplayer Libary and you are good to go.
I have no trouble at all streaming everything to my phone, only old codec versions like XVID or DIVX are making problems, but those are really old.

[Q] dvd on my vibrant?

can someone tell me how to copy movies onto my phone i love avatar with my a2dp bt headphones but want more movies to watch help someone ?
You need to find a dvd converter that will make it into an mp4 format then connect your phone to your computer and move the file to your phone

Torrent some files and them just drag and drop them to your external sd on your phone

Search for Handbrake. Its free and it will do it just fine.
I play Xvid, Dvix, Mp4, M4v on mine all the time.
Find a dvd copier and rip the disk to you're computer. Then download a free program called format factory (can change the file type and quality very easily) pick a file type and format (.3gp, .mp4, .avi, .flv, .wmv, work on the vibrant)

Download a program on your computer called Vuze. The updated version allows you to convert downloaded movies right into Vibrant compatible format.
rockplayer will play just about any format as well
My 2 cents are on format factory

I tried handbrake it tells me the file is copyrighted cannot copy

I want to say that there is a windows program called "Granny Smiths" that will allow your dvds to be converted by hand brake. I was having the same problem a while back. I was able to use hand brake on my "King of Queens" dvds after using G Smiths. Or... Haven't got to test it yet but you can go to frostwires site and pick up an android app. Got it a couple of days ago for free
Should be able to go to www.cnet/downloads for that first one.

I use the swarm app along with rockplayer app. Swarm is a bit torrent app that works great on vibrant phones.

Hey I use realplayer converter for all my movies. I haven't had any problems using it.
Your Vibrant can play DVD's, just jam a disc into the microUSB port and it should begin playing.

+1 on Handbrake. I used to use it all the time when I had to convert everything to .mp4 for iTunes. On the Vibrant, I use RockPlayer, which plays every video format... basically...
Thread moved to Q&A.
Found it its called dvd fab works awesome 1 touch convert to mp4 or avi try it thanks guys

I use the video converter from freemake.com.... its free and works great!

DLNA questions

When trying to use DLNA I can get into my files on my computer, but I keep on getting errors when I try to watch something.

I have the same problem too. general consensus us that the dlna app sucks for playback on the device.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I think I might try converting the files on vuze.

I have the same issue. most files wont play (a few will)..
i switched to vlc streaming but that stinks too since there is no way to launch the app native from the webtop, its a 'phone only' app.. so you can never get the aspect ratio correct.

i also use DLNA to share something, i once also met this problem. a friend of mine told me the video formats can't be supported by terminal Player is just the reason. maybe you should think about this.

Isn't the TB supposed to play avi vids?

I saw some specs and while back and remember seeing that the phone was avi-capable. I loaded an avi video on the sdcard and it won't play. Something about drm licensing comes up. What gives? There shouldn't be drm restrictions on an avi I downloaded from a torrent.

It can play .avi. it can play any file format as long as there is an app written to decode it. Was it a pop-up that said the DRM thing it did it look like it could have been in the video itself. Sometimes the torrents screw you over and that's all that shows up when you play them

thanks. it must be an app then since it plays fine on my pc
MODS...PLEASE DELETE
avi is just a container. The video file inside the avi is what matters, the video format is probably not supported.

You can download Rock Player Lite to play your .AVI files. It plays my videos well. Hope this helps.
mine plays .avi but the ones i played, the video/audio isn't synced, and it's not like that on the computer...gonna try yxplayer and see if it works better..
Mine played avi files just fine. No problems. You should try remux it to a mp4 using YAMB.
vplayer works great if there are subtitles... minus the ads
qqplayer does great if you dont need subs
just what I tinkered with so far
rockplayer does great until you load up a 720p file
I've been using arcMedia and it's working great

I had this problem with my incredible cause I want to play digital copies on my phone but there is embedded drm that a computer will play but android wont at the moment... it has nothing to do with being bootleg cause I tried a legal copy and it didn't work

Possible to stream videos to xbox 360?

Apologies if this is a stupid question...
When I record a video on my phone, I'd like to be able to stream the clip on to my television through AllShare. Sadly, my television won't play the files. Neither will my 360.
Is it simply that neither will recognise the file format? Or am I doing something completely wrong?
I don't think the 360 supports the playback of recorded videos. I couldn't get mine to work when I tried.
It seemed to be pushing a 3gpp video instead of the mp4 when I did it. Maybe the fact that it was 1080p didn't help either.
Must give it another go at some point.

You can stream via allshare to the xbox, but the xbox has to be in media center mode.

i'm having the same problem and i can't find any real answer, sgs2 supports playing mkv's, but when trying to play using allshare it doesn't.
i tried a stupid way which doesn't make any sense just rename the file at the end with .avi
even it's a mkv. it will be played.
but then the rename should be done from the pc or if u have a wifi explorer that can do the trick.
hope this helps
If you use Serviio, it should be able to recode it to a suitable container on the fly.
The only way I know how to play mkv's the closest to the way you want is to use Skifta as a Allshare replacement and a different video player. I personally use MX Video Player. Both are better then the stock apps they replace

Guys try Arkmc
It's much better than Samsung's ****y allshare app
