[Q] Battery Fully Charged Notifications? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Does Galaxy Ace shows a notification when battery is fully charged ? Yesterday I got a new Ace, I kept it for charging for around 3-4hrs.. The battery indicator shows the battery full, but notification on the homescreen(when its locked) showed its charging..
How am I suppose to understand its fully charged..?

Yes, normally a notification should appear when the battery is fully charged!

How much hours does it take to fully charge if the battery is around 5%?

The battery isn't fully charged until you don't get a notification (both sound and green icon on the top-left corner). That's even if you see the indicator showing 100%

Wow..my battery is still blue.. in the right hand corner.. How long does it takes to fully charge?

Depending on ROM / mods, your battery icon may look different. But a notification should show up after around 3 hours.

Well that depends, wether you're charging via USB or the wall-charger (I don't really know the name of that thing xD )
USB charging requires more time, I've tried and it took me about 4-5 hours to full charge the phone.

Ok..Last nite... I charged for 3-4 hrs.. but didnt get any notification..maybe I will try it today..Is it ok to leave it on charge over-nite? Maybe 6-7 hrs after a full deplete..?

Have you tried to reflash your ROM? There's maybe something wrong within the kernel.
And about charging overnight... I doubt that's a safe thing to do..
Used to charge my old phone overnight everytime and now it's battery depleted within 4 hours after a full charge.

well, certainly not on froyo. probably only ginger has it in-built-i get it on galaxy s (ginger) but not on Ace (froyo).

Hey!
You can charge it over night. And it shows notification in home screen CHARGED!
CHEERS!

@rhadrio I havent re flashed it..just got it yesterday.
I guess the battery nowadays have no -ve effect, if we over charge them.. ? Any one can confirm this?

Of course its NOT good, if you OVER CHARGE it every time. And for correcting battery stats, you need to calibrate it(you must be ROOTED, before use BATTERY CALIBRATOR[free from MARKET]). But still I suggest to use it(BATTERY CALIBRATOR) only if you get too fastley drain you battery(I mean, if you see that you battery getting worst or similar).
CHEERS!

I haven't rooted it yet. I will charge it overnite today & lets see if its works better tomorrow..

Batteries now have built-in overcharging prevention. No worries.

Well.. I kept it over nite.. In the morning I saw a notification on the phone as "Charged", but I am not sure how many hours did it take to charge it.

I dont know about battery issue aftr overnight charging.....but i used to charge my 5800 overnight daily, i used 2 and hlf years but nothing happend to batry or batry back up...
and if u charge yor ACE with AC charger it will take min 4 hours as our chargers are 0.7A
and if u charge with USB ur cell will get completly charged in half time compared to AC charger

...nope! usb is 500 mA (0.5 A) max - in best case, depending on mode etc. so AC charger is faster as it's 0.7 A. max 3-4 hrs here on ac.

[Q] Charging optimus one

Hi guys i just bought optimus one yesterday and then i charged it for the first time 4 hours until battery empty. My question is how long should i charge it after i charged it for 4 hours. i am correct the sale lady said 4 hours
what should i do next to extend my battery life plss give me some tips in charging thanks
LG recommends you do a full charge / full discharge cycle when you start using the phone. So if you fully charged the battery (and I think 4 hours was enough to accomplish that) now all you have to do is wait for the battery to empty and then fully charge it again. You don't have to keep it plugged in for 4 hours if the battery charges faster. When it's full, you can unplug it.
Then, the best practice for this battery is to charge it whenever possible, even if you still have enough to go throughout the day. Keeping the battery over 30-40% at all times gives you longer battery life, but once in a month you should perform again a full discharge / full charge cycle to re-caliber the battery power meter.
Please read this for a better understanding of how Li-Ion batteries work and should be taken care of.
thanks master but last night i decided to charged it at 1% then i slept and my phone was charging for almost 6 hours. it this ok? i only do full/discharge one time?
BTW it this normal that in status it said not charging instead of discharging?

Yes, it is OK, and yes - only one time. To be sure, read the phone's manual. It says there how to proceed - please ignore the sales lady. Then you may do it only once in a while, to keep the power meter accurate.
Regarding the full charging/discharging cycle: Li-Ion batteries don't need that. There's no "memory effect" plaguing them, as was the case of NiMH or NiCd batteries who lost capacity if charged less than 100% or before complete depletion. Or, simply put: charge this battery as often as you want, for as much or as less as you want.
Furthermore: Li-Ion batteries have a limited charge/discharge cycles count. Around 500, I think. If you charge the battery more often, before dropping below 30%, the charge doesn't count as a full charge. This gives you a longer lifespan for the battery before replacing it (but not a longer time before the next charge).

Yes, that is also normal. Mine says "Not charging" in status too.
thank you so much master it enlightened me btw can i ask you about missed message flasher? or at least do you have backlight notification for p500 that working with go sms and normal messaging

First time charging
Hey,
I've just got my LG Optimus One delivered, I'm charging it and at the start I could see it was charging but after about 2 and a half hours it's been now, I can't. So do I just wait until it's fully charged and the icon will come up itself or do I press the unlock/power button to see how much it's charged or any signal it's charging?
Just asking because I don't want to turn it on when I'm not supposed to and mess the intial first time charge up.
Thanks.
is there any apps that actually drains batt then do a full charge?
I use battery doctor but sometimes it is hard to do a full charge because to do a full charge battery has to be less than 20%
but at the end of the day (before going to bed)
my battery still at 30% ...
lol nothing happens if u dnt hav full discharge. Its jst a recommendation for good battery life, jst buy a new battery if ur not satisfied with ur battery life rather than breaking ur head before putting it for charging...
charging rate
After some search I was unable to find an answer to the question:
What is the charging rate (in mAh) of LG P500 default adapter?
If I buy a replacement of original micro USB charger, what can I use?
500 mAh, 1000 mAh, some other?
Is there a difference for the battery?
Input= 0.2A
Output=0.7A

[Q] Battery Charge time

Guys my SGS2 is taking around 4+ hrs to charge from around 5% left. Is this normal.?
Yep takes 4 hours here too

What's the rated output on the wall charger?
I think this is by design as the phone already gets extremely hot when pushing the CPU (gaming etc).
I believe this can eventually be changed with custom rom/kernel.

5v @ 0.7A, by the looks of it this is normal.
thanks for responce peps. Never had a phone that took so long to charge.! Normally about an hour which is why i thought i may have had a problem with the handset.!
S2 stock Optus KE2 with it remained turned on with wifi, email checking etc using Energizer XP8000 battery as power source for charge went from 24% reminaing to 100% charged in ~2hrs. S2 internally seems to limit it to <700mah charge rate.
Find a Iphone4 charger or something similar it will give you 5v @ 1.0A, charges quite a bit faster, I use that at work then the slow .7 at home.
my XP8000 charges at 1000mah but S2 will limit it to 700mah
I think you could charge the battery alone in a dock. There it should load with the full 5V and 1ah..

Ah forgot about that. But it's kind of pain removing that battery cover.

Anywhere you can back this up? I seem to have faster results using a 1.0 vs .7, showing that it is getting more power.
It's been mentioned a few times across various forums. But i'm just going by my experience.
It also takes me around 4 hours to fully charge from below 5% battery. However, if I turn the phone off whilst it charges, goes slightly quicker. Obviously.
Hi,
I think the recharging time is quiet normal for such a phone (and battery).
I had to charge the battery of a friend's phone these days with my notebook.
And it took some hours from 30%. (HTC DHD)
About the same for my SGSII.
I think thats normal.
what would we do without electricity?
Dead phone that is fully discharged battery phone off stock charger to 100%
sub 3 hours .
jje
Changed handset yesterday. today charged new phone from 5% and it took 3hrs 4mins. So it looks like i may have had either a dodgy charger or batt.
I am charging with supplied charger(5V / 0.7A) ...
During the charging I turn off my phone but the charging time is still 3-4h -.-

[Q] Quick Question About Battery Calibration

Hey everyone,
I'm using the "Battery Calibration" app to calibrate my GS2 battery, and I have already charged it to 100% and wiped the "batterystats.bin" file, and completely discharged it.
Now I have a question about charging it back to 100% - I'm going to be charging it while the phone is turned off, so how long should I leave it on charge before I can be absolutely sure it's at 100%? Some posts suggest 24 hours, while others say overnight or even 8 hours or so is completely fine and enough for the battery to become fully charged. Also, I don't need to "bump charge" to properly calibrate it, correct? I just let it charge to 100% now, and then I can use it as normal, right?
Thanks in advance for your help!
8hours ish should take you upto 100%
And after its upto 100% its fine to use it as normal.

...yep...when you see on the display (by clicking home button) the battery icon showing inside 100% then you can unplug your phone and use it normally...battery have a limit of charge just to avoid corruption so when they are at 100% they automatically stop to receive more charge...that's why I think is useful to leave the phone in charge more than he need.

Thanks for the responses guys!
Now, it has been about 3 hours since I put my phone for charging, turned off, at a completely discharged 0% battery (I even tried download mode before I put it for charging, to make sure it was completely discharged), and now the charge meter is showing 100%...
I'm pretty sure that 3 hours is a VERY short time to charge to 100%... I haven't taken it off the charger yet, so would you recommend waiting a few more hours (maybe 5 more hours?), or is it fine to just take it off the charger right now?
I'm worried a bit now, because 3 hours seems an extremely short amount of time to charge a battery that is 'supposed' to run for 18+ hours...
Well, I just read that 3 hours is about normal, so thank you for your help!

Firstly, there isn't such a thing as battery calibration with Lithium batteries. Since there is NO MEMORY EFFECT.
Lithium batteries are not Lead Acid batteries, it does not need 8hr to 16hr trickle charge.
Charging is controlled by BMS, there is no such thing as Charging past 100%. So when it is considered 100% by the BMS (Voltage), the BMS will stop charging it.
Lithium batteries gets damaged when there is less than 10% charge, so emptying it to 0% is not a good idea. You cannot really extend Lithium batteries lifespan since it only has a 2+1/2 yr lifespan, 2000 to 5000 deep charge cycles and around 2,000,000 micro charge cycles. It is better to charge anytime you want, as long as it does not go below 10% (Most electronic equipments will state 0% at that time).
Deep Charge Cycle, when close to 0% (10% charge left in battery) you can charge 2000 times back to 100% (depending on quality of battery)
Micro Charge Cycle, when roughly above 40%, you can charge 2,000,000 times back to 100%.
Soooo..... would you like to limit battery charging cycles to 2000 or prefer that you can charge it 2,000,000 times?

[Q] Over-night charging, 100% ?

Hey guys i am on CM10.1 with cm kernel... am really confused about charging my phone... i usually prefer to charge my phones over night ... is it okay.. ? i keep the phone on ac charger all night... and when i wake up its 100% charged..., the point is the device gets charged in 2-3 hours.. i usually sleep for 7-8 hours so the phone is lying around plugged into power for 4 hours.. is that okay? its holding to 100% for nearly 4 hours... that freaks me out... or is it trickle charging... i mean it drops and then charges back? i also read somewhere that the s3 has a built in mechanism to protect from over charging.. or it shuts down charging if the battery is heated up... since i am not on stock rom is that mechanism still in work ?.....
btw i really dont care about the battery life cycles if its goin to run decently for 2 years...
I always charge my phone overnight and never had any problems (Stock and Custom) You're safe
you're fine
Phew...needed someone to say that.. thanks..

[Q] Quick Charge

So guys i got few questions about it.
Lg v10 has quick charging feature so i wanna know that how that works.
its works always, and any % ? or there is a certain point for it to work. im asking this bcus today i had 10% battery left and i plugged in its original charger with original cable which supporting quick charge. it was charging normally till 32%. i realized that and i plugged off charger and plugged back again it was still normal charging . then i again plugged of and closed phone and plugged it back when phone was off. it otomatically started phone and i entered my pin code. boom it started to quick charge
sso can some 1 explain me that quick charge?
Also that hifi dac works with bluetooth earbuds? like hbs910 - hbs 1100 or samsung level u pro ?( sorry my bad english )
Hmm... I'm under the impression quick charge only works with the screen off. Could that have played a part in this?
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
My V10 also meets this issue. when your phone running out of battery at 0% lowest level, it is hard to activate the quick charger, i have to replug and unplug charger many times 10 times more to activate the charge process, the screen with phone and cable keep blinking and blinking...
But if your V10's battery still remain and you wanna charge, you just unplug and re-plug about 3 or 5 times, the quick-charge will activate. I have no idea if this relates to Software or Hardware issue.
SOLVED: my cable connecting my charger and phone is broken, change the cable, issue is solved!
Well I didn't think that I ll need quick charge since I was using z2 bcus I could have a full day no matter how much I use the phone. It was charging like in 3.5 hours. So I was charging it only when I go bed. But since v10's battery life isn't that good I realy need quick charge. I waited few months for bot buying first wave of v10 but still I bought first wave I guess. Let's hope it's software problem and get fixed soon

Well for me it works all the time. When i connect my original cable and charger i always get quick charge notification and it takes around 1 hour to fully charge the battery. I recommend though to leave the phone connected on charger for around 1 to 1.5 hour more if possible. This way the phone tops the battery charge fully getting additional around 200mA charge. You can install battery monitor widget from market and you will see that the phone continues to slowly charge after telling that battery is full. This stops when battery ot charged to the max.
0% to full takes 1 hour? that is rly nice since mine takes atleast 90 mins... even it says quick charging
