Poor battery life, other rom needed. - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hello,
I,m experience quite poor battery life when using wifi on my mini pro when using miniCM6 v5.
When I,m only typing this, I see my battery drain like a time-bomb.
In less then one minute, one percent batterylife goes away.
I already calibrated my battery.
I have 320mhz min, 710mhz max.
So I want to know if theres another rom available that has great battery life but still has the 5MP camera.
I experienced that the CM7 mods have greater batterylife, but they have crappy camera quality and I need the good camera badly.
So I hope someone can help me with my wish: best batterylife with 5MP camera working.
Thanks in advance,
Me2freedom

The poor battery life of the X10 Mini is known and can't be improved unfortunately.
I think MiniCM6 with undervolt, is the best ROM against battery drain, actually.

I had some battery issues a while ago. My phone would literally drain in about 5 hours with wifi off, sync off, data off and 2g only. No matter what rom I used. It happened suddenly after my usual 30+ hours (with everything on).
I tried all the battery calibration tips but none worked. It turns out my battery was a bit dodgy, it would discharge about 50 percent whilst disconnected from the phone overnight! It was always warm so I imagine there was a fault or short somewhere. it is the stock battery and only a couple of months old which surprised me.
Lithium poly batteries can be volotile if damaged/faulty so I urge caution if you try any battery calibration techniques - you don't want the phone to violently combust! The best advice I can give when charging is no more than 2 hours and then reboot or shutdown, no overnight charging as although there are safety mechanisms you can't be too careful. Lithium poly batteries DO NOT trickle charge so there is no point leaving it on longer as it will just keep cycling the last 2 percent with the charging circuit switching on/off/on/off/on/off... which can't be good.
To test whether or not it is a faulty battery, charge to 100 percent and shut down. Leave it off for a few hours and reboot. Lithium poly batteries have a very long storage life so should not suffer any significant loss of charge. If it has dropped more than a few percent without any 'load' on the battery then I would suggest its faulty and is discharging internally so cease using it and get a new battery.
My phone now runs properly, 30+ hours with cyanocomb 1.3 with all enabled bar gps and bluetooth. I even browse forums for a few hours! It really shouldn't be any less than that.

Okay, I think i'll try that then.
Standby time is great btw, yesterday morning it was 6 percent, and this morning it was 2 percent and still on.
So standby is not the problem, only when im using the phone it drains very quickly.
But I think thats normal.
I have a spare battery anyway, but thanks!

The best way is to bumpcharge your phone when u near a charger plug it in and use a memory manager and get rid of all the usles cluter my batery only lasts 1 day but thats the stock batery for u but if you have a rom with full rom managment use underclock with no more then 610 mh and baterysaver in cm settings

Which OS has best battery life !

SOMEONE !! HELP !!
I need to find out which ROM has the best battery life, can someone point me in the right direction pls....
Thanks

Try them all. It all depends on how you use your phone. There's no magical rom with great battery life.
If you use your phone a lot, go for a ROM which isn't overclocked.
If you want the longest idle time before recharge, I think you should set the "conservative" governor as a screen off policy and you will be fine. Of course you can also disable features such as data but you will loose many useful features of your phone. Unlike what some people says, disabling GPS doesn't improve battery life as it isn't used except when you start an application which use it.
Battery life is most affected by the screen light.
And with every rom you have to callibrate your battery. Most people with poor battery life haven't done this.
The Froyo roms are the best options because the are faster and less stressing for the juice.

They all have the same battery life (give or take 5 minutes)
All pretty similar.
Use an underclocked kernel, play around with brightness settings or use an app such as ultimate juice / juice defender to regulate 3g / wifi usage

How to callibrate my battery??
My Hero just lasts two Days with 691mhz Flykernel 11 and Elelinux 2.1 and no 3g.
I just hear a lot of music with it, connect it a few to wifi and play some games in the school.....
How long does your batteriest last?

You say two days without a charge with occasional wifi use (wifi on, screen on, phone signal on), and games playing (sound on screen on, processor busy) like it's a bad thing...
Since the mid 2000s phone capabilities have been surpassing battery performance at a remarkable rate. With the advent of the iphone and the gaining popularity android smartphones, phone feature demands have exploded while battery technology just isn't anywhere near providing the kind of battery life we expected on our dumb phones, ie, don't bother packing a charger for a two week holiday if you charge up before you leave.
This is a large reason why new technology is being created with more efficient manufacturing processes, smaller dies, etc etc, as it is easier to reduce power consumption at this time than it is to build slim, cheap, high capacity batteries.

Mine struggles to get a day battery life, with not very heavy useage... how do i calibrate my battery?

Whats the latest discussion on improving Battery life? ..its impractically low

i use my phone outdoors mainly on weekends..when going out partying etc.
within 12 hours..the battery level becomes so low..that many times i was stuck on the road because i had no way to call a taxi because my phones battery was dead.
-standby time has increased a lot with updates...its good
-but the actual usage time is ridiculously low.....if i keep using WhatsApp or texting people...the phones battery drops really fast.
and if i am gaming..i usually do it with the charging cable plugged in...like a laptop.
i can never even think of watching videos or listening to music on my phone..the battery level falls visibly fast.
so have you guys found any solution?
is there a better battery out there?
is there any app?
is there any secret battery life sucking app? (i disable face recognition)
I am scared to buy a bluetooth headset..because phones battery will be dead within 5-6 hours if i use bluetooth

buy an extended battery ..sure it bulks the phone up but the lifespan of the battery is worth it if your a heavy user
read the thread here
I bought one (cameron sino 2600 mah) and I've gone from paltry 5'ish hrs a day to 30-40+ hrs at its best (dependent on usage) ..
Altho I've absolutely hammered it a couple of times testing it to its limits using bluetooth wifi and gps and more than normal brightness I still got almost 12+ hrs lol
I would say its a definite investment for me anyway
A top tip for battery saving is manually check emails or twitter etc (unless you really need it to self check) .... instead of auto notifications this will stop the phone using battery power when your not using it yourself
Also if your connection switches on the move from H/3G to G/E then it will also consume more battery
r u using se firmware or roms? i have better battery life with roms than i had with se firmware.

maybe carrying an extra battery can help you (not a charging pack, but an extra x10 fully charged battery)
the battery won't be much impresive after optimize
becuz i've optimized mine, it work the same
very bad performance
i think you should calibrate your battery as mentioned here

I calibrated it yesterday and my battery life almost got doubled
I bought a second battery and an SE EP-900 charger!
Now, I am never short of battery life, without the extra bulk!

[Q] GinTonic.SE - Dimished battery life?

Hi there. I'm using GinTonic.SE v1.3 for 4 days now, and I can get only 30-34h worth of battery life - as long as I have Wi-fi and 3G off. I used to get almost 50h with Froyo CM6.
Has anyone experienced diminished battery life with GinTonic?
Thanks!
Gingerbread are battery drainers, try undervolting (settings/CyanogenMod/performance/cpu). And reduce backlight to minimum
i'm experiencing the same problem, the battery draining is anormal, i've tried with battery calibration but that doesn't resolve the issue, battery goes from 100% to 98 in about 1 minute (data, sync, wifi off and minimal brightness) then straight down... i need to charge the phone 3 times in a day, i had to reflash he cyanogen revolution... any advice?

It's true... as xxlordxx said... compared to Froyo, Gingerbread Customs are slightly higher battery drainers..... You atleast get 30 H, I used to get 13 with Gintonic..
I've no problems with the cyano revolution and/or the stock rom

have you tried the new GT 2.3.8? claims better battery use, i installed yday and it lasted for the day at least..but that was quite minimal use. as stated use either uv.ko or underclock with setcpu, i downloaded app called cpu spy it informs you what speed your proc is running at and u can get a decent reading on when and how long the speed is which helps in set cpu if you set up profiles so i.e when yr battery reaches x% the clockspeed will reduce, and choose a governer like powersave or conservative...it does make quite a difference
yes battery life is bad I will have to look at some of those 3rd party batteries

gaming massive battery drain!!

i have the elegant white rom,its awesome low ram consumption speed etc.
BUT first to change stock rom(original from manifacturer)i could play 2 hours and 1/2 sometimes 3 without trouble with battery at 30/35% left now i play 5 mins and my battery goes from 93% to 87% in 5 min
so 6%x12=72%battery lost in 1 hours its bad really bad! i also installed the battery fix but notthing!in idle without playing i lost 2/3% per hours so this is good.
someone have my same trouble? it is normal?if so i should install back stock rom?
if i get stock rom again the battery should be fine?
the elegant rom is on stock 2.3.7 i had 2.3.3 when i bought this phone
sorry for bad english i have not much time
thx everyone
(already done calibration)
to full charge it takes 1 hours max is it normal?

Roms based on CM7.2 do drain battery massively compared to stock so going back to stock would help.
Battery callibration does not help - see Here
Same problem here... Living with it cuz stock has just become old and lazy
But if you really want battery switch to stock its way better than cm

There isn't a noticeable difference in both versions in terms of battery life. However, 5.7 has better performance and is noticeable.
You can try underclocking to something like 730 MHZ and save a decent amount of battery life without losing performance. Check this OC kernel out:
OC zImage
Also, use Cyanogenmod, ADW launcher without customizations is faster than the stock touch-wiz UI launcher.

For all those who r shouting that battery calibration doesnt improve battery.. Did the XDA said it improves battery life?? Do u ppl know wats the meaning of calibration?? Calibrating means adjusting something to the accurate value.. Not improving the value!! Even we never said it ll improve battery life.. Battery calibration just calibrates the reading to more accuarte one. So let the ppl calibrate it. Else leave. It ll automatically gets adjusted after 1 or 2 week.. U can see urself the change..

Yes, many members on XDA said that callibration improves battery life. The battery indicator on your status bar does not use batterystatus.bin. It does not automatically adjust after 1 week or 2. It re-calibrates every time you charge!
Read the article posted by XDA for more:

well i dont know about you all
but on my phone battery percantage isnt that accurate
cause when i unplug phone from charger and just open game or do something battery percantage goes to like 90%
but when my battery percantage is low like 18% it holds 30mins on 18%
I've tested many roms here and stock rod do tend to have better battery life, but... When i tested the RAZRv3 by TeamCooper, it had extremly good battery life.
When i got my Ace it had froyo, that lasted about 2.5-3 days. I upgraded to gingerbread official, battery lasted about 1.5-2 days on. Then i tried several custom stock roms and they all lasted about 1-2 days.
After that i started testing CM7 (both 7.1 and 7.2) roms and most of them lasted 12-18 hours (i used the wifi disables 3g function and some other tweaks to last the battery longer otherwise those roms would not have been usable)
Then i got to the RAZRv3 i used it for 2 weeks and the battery was amazing, it lasted easily for 3 days with no other tweaks than "wifi disables 3g" and also the performance was good. No lag!
Then i tested the CM7.2byFAT and the battery was awful but i really liked the rom so i keep 3g disabled when i dont use internet (all background apps use 2g internet) and now the battery last for 2 days.
As i've tested.... 3g takes really alot of battery in CM7 roms but in RAZRv3 (cm7.1 based) it worked like a charm.
So.. Everyone who wants really good battery life should test RAZRv3 that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478807

[Q] Very poor battery life

Hi!
I just got my Xperia Mini Pro (a week ago).
I immediately flashed it with CM10 #146 and overall I'm satisfied with it's resoponsivness and performance. The only thing that worries me is horrible battery life, I just charged it this morning and now, about 6 hours later (20 mins of talking, about 15 messages) my battery's at 35%. I'm not using any data conenction, I have switched it to 2G only, my signal is strong, I have reduced screen brighness to about 75%, and I keep both BT and GPS off. I do use wifi, but that's like 10 mins a day. My phone came with a 1160mAh battery, which I know is not the most powerful one, but baraly 1 day of batteyr life in a brand new phone, and being forced to charge it every evening just scares me
Is this normal for these Xperias? My old Wildfire used to last about 2-2,5 days.
Yes. It is normal for me. I charge my phone everyday.
You can lower your brightness or apply battery tweaks to preserve battery life
Sent from my WT19i
You can try another kernel, for instance MESA 2.2, and undervolt a bit. I get about 2 days of battery with that kernel and some init.d and build.prop tweaks.
I don't really fancy any of those ubertweaked-hardocre-v6-megaoptimized kernels and stuff. Cyanogen mod does the job for me, and I don't really want to "overtweak" antything I'm just gonna have to stick with what I have I guess.
I don't think that flashing it with stock FW (which I'd hate to do) will help it?
Christ... I don't get it... A friend of mine has an Xperia LWW with the same battery, the same CPU, and she charges it like three times a week, while I'm gonna have to charge it like seven times a week. It's just wrong. I hope that the battery will get a bit better over time, and I'll be able to use for at least 24h without looking for the charger.

Yeah man, but i guess she hasnĀ“t flashed cm10... ROM consumes battery as well. If you were on stock firwmare as i guess she is, then you would have almost the same battery backup
Always check that sync is off. Cause it will drop battery bar easily. Of course in case you don't need sync.
And check build.prop. there's 2-3 lines which will help the phone to deep sleep better. (Search xda)
I myself use aokp jb with messa kernel and with normal usage it takes me 1.5 day.

I respect all the developers but with due respect and personal opinion:
Kernel : Kernel PAnic v2.5(ICS) and Rage 3.0(GB)
ROM : Smultronic v 5.0(ICS) and Spartan v2.05(GB)
Brightness : 40%
Sync off
I get a usage of about 2 days on both of these roms...and if u are a light user i mean if u play no games them HyperBeamCream is really good for ICS.
well...1 day battery life is abt normal for our fones which have1200 mah battery,,,,can't help it:crying:
well the simplest way to take a step for solution is changing kernel to mesa cause with fxp 146 kernel there was a horrible battery drain for me also. Reduce the screen brightness & turn off 3g if u dont need it
i suggest mesa with CM10 too .
You could also decrease processor speed in standby, I think normally it's 250 but you can put like 125.
In cm10 mesa kernel does the job... It really saves the battery... And one more thing is that, give it some time... The battery will become normal after a few days of usage...
