Using the kernel since yesterday on TripNMiUI froyo 1.5.6 and it is the best custom kernel till now.
The phone is flying and battery life is very very good.

When you flash BB52 using flashtool MAKE SURE YOU UNCHECK WIPE USER DATA AND YOUR DATA WILL NOT BE WIPED!

Using the old flash tool did but there is a check box, untick that and it not delete data, the new flash tool does not.

Yes sure but uncheck the wipe data in flash tools and use the patch after flashing bb52

WARNING!!
in with menu version, pressing back takes you to boot-menu (of
doomlord) but beaware, it'll take almost 30-45 seconds for bootmenu to
appear. I'm working on this problem. PLEASE DO NOT SHOUT "ERROR ERROR,
BRICK BRICK" WITHOUT WAITING FOR 45 SEC AFTER PRESSING BACK BUTTON"
Similarly for without menu version, booting to doom's touch recovery
takes almost 1 minute. (Cwm5 and xrec boots instantly, without
problem)

Tried the white0.8 kernel zip and i got a bricked phone... beats me how but the odin method is safer...

All of them imo are outdated, add savies rev 73 and kuros kernel as the main recommendation. Btw, Its stock kernel not stoke kernel And add this to the list of stock kernels :

I used KernelUpdate.zip = mai77 method = SGYbiCWM.zip
to install WhiteXP 0.8 latest.
kernel version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #38
build #38 very nice
it is a "drop in replacement" on XXLH2 stock ROM Galaxy Y. I find no issues so far.

yes whitexp 0.8 rc3 can be simply installed inside CWM.
quick and simple. no problems found.
