2.3.4 swype is bad - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. Just updated from ke7 to kg2 and it's all good except the swype keyboard. I much preferred the older one... any way to get it back?

Just curious what is that you don't like from previous version? I'm using it and have no problems with it.

There used to be a popup instead of a line of words like it is now on kg2. It looked much better.

Ahh ok... individual preference I guess
Did you check on the swype beta website and see if you can get the old version?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App

I agree this new version is terrible. If I cant find a way to revert to an older version, I will stop using swype! And to think I used to love it before!. I actually believe that v1.6 was the best to use.

As of about a week ago Swype Beta was: 2.17.49.15552

ics keyboard with spellcheck?

Any chance we'll see this incorporated into a 2.3 ROM or available separately as an .apk before we see ICS ported to SGSII?
I wouldn't doubt it, the same thing happened with the Gingerbread keyboard on 2.2. Someone just needs to get a Galaxy Nexus dump and extract it to see if it works.
bumping to ask if there has been any development on this now that the source code is out?

Can phone update while running unnamed?

I tried to get the new PTA update from art but the installation failed twice. Are any unnamed/custom rom users having this problem?

* OTA update

NEVER a good idea to do an OTA update when running a custom ROM. Also, I believe the "Update phone" option is removed from UnNamed.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
So how would I remove the rom to install the new update? Also, unnamed leaves the update phone and even keeps on the 24 hour rule

I think you can restore a nandroid of stock rom and proceed as normal.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
UnNamed is already running the kk6 2.3.6 update...so why ota? :/
..maybe I'm missing something with your question. Sorry.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
In my phone info it says I'm running android version 2.3.4. Maybe I missed a rom update?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
UnNamed 2.0 and above is updated to 2.3.6. If you are using an older version of unNamed all you have to do is update to newer version and you're good to go.

Know anywhere I can find the rom or will Google do the trick?

Did you try looking in the Dev forum? How did you flash unnamed if you are this clueless?
What I meant to ask is that roes unnamed update or do I have to manually download 2.0?

You're joking, right?
houston, we have a problem...
OP you need to manually update yourself and yes UnNamed ROM gets updates...if that's what your asking. But the other thing you need to do is go back to the basics of learning what you are doing. The questions your asking are things you should already know if your gonna be Modding/flashing your phone. This is how people brick their phones .. there's more than enough info at your fingertips right here in xda. You just gotta read, and if you don't understand something, ask and read some more!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Every time a new ROM is released for unnamed, you need to download it and manually update it. There is no ota.
If you're lucky your phone will get 1 OTA from AT&T over the lifetime of your phone if you are stock. Custom ROMs, like UnNamed and many others on this forum on the other hand gets goodies pretty much once a week. If you keep up with that ROM's thread, you won't have any issues. You will find that as soon as you have a problem, there is likely a solution in the thread already. The search button should be your best friend. Most people are more than happy to help, unless you are asking them to spoon fed you the solution.

XDA app or thread problem: 0 threads in forum

So the i777 forum has been on my favorite list since I got the app, and loads up when I open xda app.
But today when I click the forum, it shows 0 threads in it... its blank. I went to the main page and set it as subscribed again... then I had 2 of the same forum in my list; one with threads one without. I deleted the empty one and.... the other favorite became empty. This isn't nice! What's the problem?

I had similar problems over the weekend using tapatalk, all cleared up this morning though.
that happened when i updated, so i deleted my settings and started over. It works now.

Might as well. Nothing to lose. If the problem still exists, let us know. Are you running the latest version? May have something to do with it...who knows.

When I updated I found that the forms weren't loading correctly and my favourites had to be redone whenever I opened the app. I'm back on the version before the newest

Hmm that's weird. Atleast the previous version works for you though. I know on the new version I had to "refresh" a lot to fix my favorite issue.

Yeah. I can't live without this app lol. I do find it kind of weird that the new ported forum needed its own favourite since it wasn't under AT&T blah blah general but its there and accessible in some way so I'm happy

What was the previous version of Google Currents?

I don't like what they've done with Google Currents in yesterday's update. What was the app version right before this one (2.0)? Thanks.

I don't know the version number
But I can definitely tell you that there is a huge UI improvement and new version includes a widget. .
I think it is much better..

It's 'pretty,' but it's annoying being only able to see one or two articles at a time in the list.
Ok
i found the version number, 1.5.4

Sorry to bump an old thread but just wanted to say thank you, I hate the latest update, everything gets grouped into incorrect categories and it's painfully slow to load and buggy.
I am going to stick with the older version, at least it loads pages up fast.
