Using another battery - Blade Accessories

Hi guys:
Is it possible to use a battery from another phone? Because sometimes chinese mobiles can be compatible with Nokia's batteries and for a little amount of money, we can get some cooler Nokia's ones.
I'm getting a ZTE Blade this week, so I will tell you my impressions ASAP.
Regards.

I wouldn't recommend using any other battery than the official one provided. You're asking for trouble otherwise.

Why not? If it has the same voltage and fits perfect, there isnt any reason for using this battery. There are other manufacturers of mobile phone batteries that make compatible batteries, so It wouldnt have any problem.
Anyone tried it? I will make a study of MP batteries and then I will tell you if I found something interesting.
Regards

why would you do that when a new oem battery is so affordable?

More capacity power than the stock one. Finally, I have bought an emergency charger for 10 euros, that have 1900 mah and its affordable for my Samsung Wave and this phone.
Hope that it will solve all battery problems.

Interested aswell in the review, was considering carrying a spare battery but this looks handier.

I considered using another battery too, but this option has multilple advantages:
1) It has 1900 mhAmp, so it lefts 500 mAmphs free to make another charge.
2) I'm using two smartphones, so I can charge both ones.
3) I don't need another charger or charging it in the phone and removing it. I just charge the emergency charger and I can use the phone again.
BTW, my ZTE Blade seems to be the AMOLED version, with low battery consumption. I'm using stock GB firmware, and after a day using 2G network, WiFi, playing Angry Birds for 30 minutes, using Whatsapp and a few phone calls, I have 30% left. SO I'm quite impressed with battery life, hope it will be as good as my Samsung Wave (I use it around 2-3 days with no problems)
I will make a full review when I will receive the charger.
Regards.

I bought the 2800mAh version of that charger, and man does it work great.
I suppose it's the only must have accessory I can think of to a smartphone.

not sure if its any good, has anyone tried it?

of course u can

how much time does it take to full charge the battery?? think u need a bigger capacity charger with this to charge it speedily...

[Q] Dangerous battery???

Hi,
I found a compatible with BST-38 (for the mini pro) Li-ion 3.7V and 1420 mAh (my phone battery is Li-Po 3.6V and 970 mAh), do you think that can be "dangerous" to use one of these batteries? (The brand name is Jin Dian and what worries me is if this difference of 0.1V can damage the mobile, whether it will be more or less good in general) You can see it on ebay (220676929621).
I'm just desperate because I tried autokiller, setCPU, advanced task manager, juicedefender, etc. (droid wall and Wisync didn`t work properly in my phone), but my battery dies in less than 15 hours...I need a solution!
Thanks and sorry for my poor English
15 hours using it how? full? idle?
SE says with android 2.1 the battery life will be increased 200%, maybe before to burn your phone you should wait a couple of weeks and try if it is true... xD
15 h with data connect on for k-9 email, but without BT, wifi and a couple of calls.
I bought the same battery and have been using it for the past 4 days. To be honest, it lasts about the same as the stock's. Maybe with a few more cycles, it would last longer.
But does anyone know of any app that could measure the mAH?
There is a BST38 battery with 1930 mAH selling on eBay but will burn a HUGE hole in your pocket!

Have you tried using other launcher/homescreens? Mine lasts 24hrs max before, now it lasts 30+hrs (with helix)
I used to charge my phone every 2 days. I used it mainly for calls, sms and internet. I dont stay more than ten mins each time Im online which could be 2-3 times a day. I dont have bluetooth, wifi and 3G switched on. But lately the battery life is dwindling...maybe cuz I have more apps now...sigh.

[Q] I9100 battery?

Anyone know if the I9100 battery will fit the I777? I see a lot of sellers listing the battery working for both the AT&T I777 and the International I9100.
yeah I cant find this in writing. Where is a good place to find oem Battery's
I got the 2000 mah anker battery off eBay works great! !!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA Premium App
The dimensions for the i777 Samsung battery are 59x46x5 mm. I searched and couldn't find dimensions anywhere for the i9100 oem battery. Anyone with i9100 mind measuring the battery dimensions? I hate to order a bunch of stuff only to find it doesn't fit. I don't 100% trust the descriptions on most of the ebay stuff.
Do the I9100 batteries have 3 or 4 contacts? If only 3, they probably won't work, or might damage the additional spring clip in the phone for the 4th contact. (which, if the I9100 batteries only have 3 contacts, means the 4th is for NFC.)
Let me help you guys out here. I ordered 3 international gs2 batteries 2 months ago in preparation for this phone and they work just fine in the att version. the dimensions are exactly the same and everything has been just peachy.

I don't see 2000mah on ebay, just 1900mah for anker battery.

Note that anything that includes an alternative battery door won't work. The battery doors ARE different.
Yeah I assumed that and wasn't going to go with an extended battery but do plan on getting a dock which should be similar enough to work well.

It MAY or MAY NOT fit, but I can tell you that the NFC antenna in the SGH-I777 (ATT GalaxyS 2) is embedded into the battery. So even if the battery contacts do match, at the very least you'll lose the ability to do NFC. And further, if Samsung messed with the voltages or signalling on the pins (which they might have done in order to get the NFC antenna hooked into the mainboard), you could potentially fry your phone. Instantly, or maybe even over time...
Until further work is done to figure out exactly what goes on what pin, and how it compares to the i9100, I wouldn't use an i9100 battery if I were you...
I got this battery with a dock charger and it works fine but when I plug it in to anything (computer/usb or power/usb) it freezes the phone and makes it cycle the battery charging/phone off symbol while the battery(?) makes a very quiet clicky sound. Not good. So I started charging it on the dock (came with a spare battery charging slot) and carrying it as an extra. It works fine, just don't charge your precious AT&T Galaxy S2 with it.
I did the shot at this angle so you could see the contacts, I saw some mention of it. My bad on the upside-down hah.

[Q] Which replacement battery to buy?

my battery last about 8hrs with barely no use. with average whatsapp and email i'd be lucky to get 3-4hrs. I've already tried every trick listed in the forum to extend batt life. it turns off randomly under heavy use (camera or video playback, games, etc). those things work when its on the charger.
I've decided to replace the battery and my back cover that doesn't seat properly anymore. i wanted to know if anyone have purchased the extend battery; and that back cover looks alot bigger than the original.

The original battery is too small.
They may have been built in a SE factory but the current rating is too low for the x10's demands.
SE would have solved many problems by just using a larger cell.
The x10 sometimes requests more current that what those poor cells could supply.
Due to a overly hungry GSM 3G radio.

Yes, that makes sense, but is there any sort of guarantee that these no-name batteries use actually larger cells and produce higher rating?
All I'm saying is I am a bit reluctant to trust cheap so-called extended batteries.
i think the original batteries are weak too. don't even have 3G here. at first it lasted a full day with just music, texting and calls. once i added data it dropped more than half.
know whats odd tho.. at home on wifi i get longer battery life. i think it has something to do with this mobile data service.

Problem with battery life

Hi, I have a problem with my Ace. When I only use 2G and use my phone for calls/sms, my battery lasts for like 3 days. But if i have 100% full battery and I use the internet with (or without 3G), my battery lasts for like half an hour, drains from full to 0 and then phone turns off. If i turn on my phone again, it shows like 30% or more battery left, but if data connection is still on, I lose 1 percent in like every second.
This is not only with data connections. I drained my battery from 100% to 0 in like 1,5 hours with just looking some pictures and using the calculator. I would like to think my battery is dead, but it lasts like 3 days when used for calls/sms only.
I have tried recalibrating my battery many times, used different ROMs (stock and custom), still same.
Is there anything else I could do to check my battery status??
Anyway, I am looking for a new battery but not the original one. Im looking from eBay. I contacted the sellers and asked for the weights. Original battery weighs like 30g. I got replied that these two (2050mAh High Capacity Replacement Battery for Samsung Galaxy S5830 and aoonen 2PK NEW Li-Ion Battery for Samsung S5830 Galaxy ACE 1800mAh fast shipping) batteries weigh 50g and 60g. This makes them less likely to be the fake gold ones, or what do u guys think? Has anyone bought one of those batteries? Or can anyone recommend a battery with more capacity than the original one (1350mah)
I accidentally hit "thanks" button instead of reply
I'm 100% sure that something is wrong with your battery.
I've never heard about such long-life battery in Galaxy Ace.
3 days calls and texting ?
It's normal that battery drains faster when using mobile data, but not that fast.
If You can, ask a friend to borrow You battery from Galaxy Ace.
If everything will be okay then You'll know the naswer.
If other battery won"t last longer, then i suggest to check you phone for "short circuit".
Maybe something is wrong with your motherboard that is connected with 3G .. ?

I just bought two gold extended life (2450mAh) batteries for my Ace! I was meaning to test them against the stock one but hadn't got around to it yet. Didn't use the stock battery much as I think it's original to the phone which I recently bought 2nd hand.
If anyone wants me to do this test (properly) let me know.
Thinking about this; perhaps a few Ace owners could flash a common ROM and perform a standard discharge test. This would give us some baseline.

I use CM7 and no super widgets. Maybe it saves energy.
Try another ROM, remove or switch off everything You don't need.
Maybe it will help You. If not, it's time to buy another battery.
Don't ask which browser is the best, because we don't know what You need.
I need my browser to browse websites. I don't use favourites on mobile phone, so everyone is the best.

everything is inconclusive, except that there are advantages to using the stock
I have tried many ways to calibrate it and my conclusion was that this broken.
I compare it with another and mine is somewhat swollen
New battery on the way
Wow, just too many variables! For instance.. Any idea how many mA the vibrator uses when typing with haptic feedback? What about the extra battery used by the radio when your in a poor reception area, does my micro-sd use more power than yours? Etc.
Battery life comparisons will only be meaningful in conditions where the battery is the only changed variable. So i would charge two or more batteries; discharge one, then another, measuring the times. Both batteries would need to be new unless you just want to compare something tired and worn with just out the factory.
Not 100% but I think it's relevant how many amps you take at a time, in relation to total capacity.. The chemical tech. may be difference, but lead-acid cells give differing amounts of charge dependent on temperature, and rate of discharge. In most applications capacity (C), is measured over 20 hours (C/20). C/100 will see many more amps capacity, and C/10, fewer! Also consider a used battery could last a considerable time, if only the high drain occasion is minimal. Something simple like the vibrator could send an old battery 'over the edge' if the drain is too high.
What does all this mean to me? Unless you wanna spend hours discharging your phone battery finding out (not really), get a fresh battery online; they still don't cost much and are easy to find. Gold batteries have been available for some time so go with your gut on that one! Perhaps, like me, you think it's worth the risk.
If you really love your phone and think you'll still be holding on to it in a couple of years time - you'll be thankfull you bought a spare battery or two while they were still cheap
Peace!

Hello, problems of battery are the most important in the management of smartphones increasingly sophisticated. I know of no silver bullet, so it makes sense to always have an alternate (note that battery life depends on time, even without use)
I found a small application, very cool, which is PowerTutor, which gives us interesting information from the battery usage. However'm with JuiceDefender Ultimate (free version exists). The only application which effectively spare battery was Greenpower. [all in gplay]

Hi, new battery from ebay , now lasts a day under normal use and a day and a half with little use of the internet.
Not bad for the low price

This is usually the fix. It's amazing how fast some batteries start failing. Old batteries and cold temperatures are usually the top cause of poor battery life, especially in secondhand phones.
Try Juice Defender

Except this is more of a discussion about the question, not really Q&A material.
OP I don't use one, mainly because I don't have one if I did I would probably use it.
No offence OP, but this should be in the accessories forum, I do believe, so on your behalf ©®™ for moving
Bought two anker batteries at the same time I bought the phone, the Samsung battery is still in the box and I've never used the phone to charge. Swap the battery between the phone and charger every second morning, it's the first smart phone I've not had to worry about battery life.
Galaxy S III has a really good battery life so I don't use an extended battery

I've always been a battery swapper since the early Nokia days. Can't bear the thought of not having a fresh battery there ready to go when I am. No waiting for phone to charge at the last minute when heading out of the door.
Ah, maybe I should note that for most tasks I use my Nexus 7 . Oops-a-daisy. I use Galaxy S 3 mainly for music and when I study on bus. No gaming or movies.

boomboomer I was looking at the anker batteries when i first got the phone last year too.. but ended up going with this official samsung kit that had a spare that game with it. What capacity Anker's did you end up getting? I had a look at those big 4400mAh ones as a backup for when travelling overseas but never went through with getting one.
the one thing i hated about the iphone 4 I had last was waiting for sufficient charge whenever I had to quickly be somewhere unexpectedly. Some times Id go out for a few beers in the evening with a low charge thinking id be home soon.. end up having many, many more and so Id end up with a dead phone as im trying to find a way home.
Can honestly say that I havent ever had that issue again since investing in this phone and extra battery haha.
The ankers are the same physical size as the standard battery, just 2200mAh. The only draw back is the capacity drops quickly once below 10%, but I usually swap battery when it gets below 20%.

I use one. love it. All Samsung Galaxy S III phones ships with an extra battery so why not use it? So convenient to have one always charged in the battery charger and your phone charged with wireless charging. Qi!
R: [Q] Anyone else use spare battery?
I bkught a 2800mah battery a while ago...great, lasts a lot.
If i ever need another battery i will put back the old one...i could of course get ANOTHER 2800 and then keep switchingg it...but it would be tiresome...thats why they made rechargeable batterues in the first place...as soon as the battery wears out (5months my guess it will be 40-50% worse than when u first started using it) get another one. If you go on a trip and forget the charger, pop spare under the hood and hit low energy mode!
