I am getting:
C:\Flash>fastboot boot recoveryNeo.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
FAILED (remote: The Device must be rooted first)
finished. total time: 0.002s
My device did have an unlocked bootloader, but I relocked it. My phone is rooted. I've not had any luck unlocking the bootloader again though the SE website.
This is what I get when I try and unlock the bootloader again:
C:\Flash>fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xAC38D....XXXX
...
(bootloader) Unlock phone requested
FAILED (remote: oem unlock failed!)
finished. total time: 0.003s
Any advice?

Reqeuest new unlock key, but this has nothing to do with the recovery! If you have an locked bootloader it is normal that this wont work.
Regards

I tried a new unlock key just then. Does not seem to be a way to unlock again, after relocking.

Please ask in another thread (re-lock bootloader thread), i want to have this thread clean about problems / suggestions for the recovery itself!
Thanks.

OK. Worked here.
Worked out how to re-unlock bootloader and Clockwork recovery works.

From Spain. Thanks, thanks, gracias, Grazie mile, muchas gracias, sois unos fenomenos. Please neo forum.

Thanks for listening and make possible the development of the Smartphone, we look forward to news of a ROM CM7.

thanks! it's an important post for our NEO! Thank you!

after re-unlock bootloader Clockwork recovery works fine
P.S. Or re-unlocking or recovery wipe my data = factory data reset :|
Hmm after boot i dont have a lock screen, power menu shows only one option "switch off", meybe reflash help
OK after reflash 3.0.1.A.0.146 (wifi fix) from WotanServer everything looks OK (missing root
P.S. How enter into recovery ? Power + Vol down ??

Does this work on Arc??

To operate the bootloader has to be unlocked?
If so if we can not enter locked fastboot mode and can not do anything. Is there another option?

Just wondering if there will be a Neo ROM. to test soon?
Sent from my MT15i using XDA Premium App

hell yeah cm7
have cm7 running on my x10mini and i really miss alot of settings and stuff like theme chooser i miss my eye candy!
hyped!!!

Creating recovery worked fine. Wiping caches worked fine. Stock Neo ROM does not automount ext2. Creating ext2 partition in recovery worked, but my phone did not find it on sd card after booting.
That is on 2.3.3 of course which has kernel to support ext2/3/4.

Discovered how this recoveryNeo.img CWM is even more awesome.
I messed around with partitions with Minitool and fdisk. Both caused the sd card to become unmountable, even with fdisk showing info about it as:
c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
This CWM either restored partition table or did something else, but it fixed what i have yet no idea how to do it manually.

[Help]: unlock bootloader failed

hi pls help me,
i have xuz c6833 14.2.A.1.136 - rooted.
i read and followed all steps from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447319 untill:
....
11. In the cmd windows type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
12. If a value is returned (it will return 0.5), it means the phone is correctly connected
13. Type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY and replace KEY with the key which u received earlier. (replaced KEY)
then it says:
FAILED (remote : Device already rooted)
i have tried Xperia Z Ultra Toolkit 1.0 and got the same message FAILED after enter unlock code received earlier via email from sony.
plds show me where i did wrong? thank you.
Did you try with Flashtool?
I use that to unlock bootloader and did it with no problem....
Just an idea....
I just used flashtool to unlock mine.
make sure you have backed up your TA partition
from the dialer dial *#*#7378423#*#* somewhere in there in the unlock status, cant remember where and I'm not on stock anymore.

As you bootloader is unlocked you can just load any of the dual-recovery boot.img to get both cwm and twrp. I normally flash jackies one or chillychan's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575909
I used that to install the dual recovery on my phone using the chillychan's post...
Do this:
Download the kernel-136-dual from his post
Download the SuperSu
Put the SuperSU in the phone SDCard for example...
Shutdown your device.
Plug the usb and press in the same time Volume Key Up
Open flashtool..
Click on the first icon is like a thunder... and select fastboot mode then click on "Select kernel to flash" and get the "kernel-136-dual.img"
And the flashtool install the kernel..
You see in the dialog box..
Unplug the usb cable and turn on you device and press the Volume key Down or Up
My case the Volume Down opens TWRP and then go to "install" and find the SuperSu that you put on the phone.. Install that and reboot
Nothing more to do...

[Q] CWM backup without flashing or unlocking bootloader

I downloaded CWM for Moto G from clockworkmod's rom manager site. My intent was to backup the entire phone, including the ISP's ROM, before rooting or even unlocking the bootloader. I didn't know whether I could avoid unlocking the bootloader, but I was going try backing up without flashing to the device to see if it would let me. I put the phone in fastboot mode by holding down the power button and volume-down for 10 seconds. Then I issued the following from the command line (I'm using cygwin's bash shell, and the directory containing fastboot is in $PATH):
$fastboot boot recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-falcon.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.310s]
booting...
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.313s
Is this the symptom of not having unlocked the bootloader?
P.S. I want to back up the phone rather than get an ISP's stock from online.
BUMP.
Anyone?

Yes, an unlocked bootloader is a requirement for being able to install a custom recovery on those phones, and most every Android device with a few exceptions. Keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader will reset the phone as well.

Thanks, es0tericcha0s. I think I need to clarify: For the backup, I just want to "soft" boot CWM, I don't want to flash it to the phone. I want to back up the phone in its entirety with as little modification to it as possible. Is this possible without unlocking the bootloader?

I'm not sure if you need the bootloaders unlocked to just fastboot boot recovery, but I would think you still would need to. It'll either work or just reboot the phone normally so very little risk of anything bad happening were you to try it. From a couple threads I found, the ability to do that also depends on which bootloader you have (4.3 or 4.4.2) and the recovery img as well.

Interesting. It neither soft boots to the img file nor does it reboot. It simply fails.

How does one find the bootloader version? Turning off the device and holding Power + VolumeDown for 10 seconds leads to a "fastboot" mode, which has a version number that is very different from the bootloader versions that you cited:
> AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
> 41.13(*) (sha-7dc8e78, 2014-06-1616:33:29)
The image I'm trying to soft boot is recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-falcon.img.

You'll know which bootloader you're on by which update you're on. 4.3 or 4.4.2, but I just don't think it'll work without unlocking the bootloader regardless. You realize that besides wiping the data (which you can back up most of it other ways anyway...)that unlocking the bootloader makes no other changes to the operating system so if you were to do that and and then, once you perform a nandroid backup, you'll have a copy of an unaltered OS?

I'm on 4.4.4.
I suspected that the OS is not changed by unlocking the bootloader. I just wanted to delay the warranty-voiding step of unlocking the bootloader until as far along the process as possible, in case I got cold feet after doing the full backup of the entire phone. Looks like I can't delay it until after the backup. Ah well, it's only a $150 phone.
Funny, though, the error indicates that it's downloading boot.img. Almost as if it was interpreting the 1st parameter as the boot image instead of a fastboot command. That's now how fastboot is suppose to work.

Might try it with the Motorola fastboot files: mfastboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2427667&d=1385958280
same commands, just do "mfastboot" vs "fastboot"
But the "downloading...." part is not uncommon. Found references in various threads.
Looks like mfastboot doesn't work either. Same results. Next step: Unlock bootloader.....
Afternote: It worked! At the shell on the PC:
> $ fastboot oem unlock FLRPKG3ZYPCPLOBYXY3T
> ...
> (bootloader) Unlock code = FLRPKG3ZYPCPLOBYXY3T
> (bootloader) Unlock completed! Wait to reboot
> FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
> finished. total time: 20.842s
The device rebooted into fastboot mode with the following details:
> <...snip...>
> Device is unlocked. Status Code: 3
> <...snip...>
> Fastboot Reason: UTAG *flashfail* configured as fastboot
> USB connected
I'm not too worried about the "status read failed" because others have encountered it [google "Rooting my Moto E out of the box (step by step)"]. Also, I'm not going to worry about the "UTAG *flashfail*" message just yet.
UNFORTUNATELY...
...booting CWM without flashing to the Moto G does not work:
> $ fastboot.exe boot recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-falcon.img
> downloading 'boot.img'...
> OKAY [ 0.300s]

> OKAY [ 0.240s]

The device simply boots up as normal.

Remove RFP Lock Huawei Y6

Hi all,
I have a small problem, my phone does not boot and hanging on Logo. Now i can boot to fastboot menu, but i cannot really use it since i have FRP lock . Is there any chance to baypass it to make possible to flash recovery boot.img ?
When i try any command getting this error :
Code:

sending 'revocery' (4096 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.142s]
writing 'revocery'...

Since my phone not booting i cannot use this option Please help
Hi, back again
As i can see, try not to mess with the names :revocery...
When you want to flash the boot.img don't change that name.
Just flash it like : fastboot flash boot boot.img
Use my last boot.img which i sent you. That's a good one out of my backup.
For the FRP (perhaps edit your thread tiltle ) i have no answer in a minute. Did the "fastboot oem unlock" gave anything better ?

the same issue
Good day, i have the same issue on my p9 EVA-L19.
FRP lock. And i can't do anything...
My warranty says that they cannot recover data from the phone, but the information is very important. I need to unlock FRP and somehow boot into TWRP or something to recover my data.
Please help someone if you had a same issue and results.
For the Huawei Y6 you can return to Stock.
Try to fastboot boot recovery-twrp.img and put your stock firmware (dload) folder to the rootdir at your sdcard.
Reboot your device to bootloader and hold down vol+ + vol- and use the command: fastboot boot stockrecovery.img (keep the keys pressed until the stock recovery comes up and starts installing your stock rom.
You will see an emui logo and the recovery will install the complete stock rom if you did everything right.
Retry to boot the stock recovery with this way if it is not working at the first try.
EDIT: after i wiped /system and and all the other stuff i was able to flash stock recovery via fastboot.

Try to do:
fastboot boot recovery.img
This will boot up the device with the given image. With that you can put a custom rom to your sd-card and flash it.
I will upload a Nandroid (stock system, recovery, boot) from my Y6 SCL-L01 soon.
With that you can restore boot and recovery with twrp. For this way you don't need to have a frp unlock.
Procedure:
fastboot boot recovery-twrp.img
Put your stock firmware (dload folder) to the sdcard.
Put my Nandroid to your sdcard.
Restore my Nandroid, reboot your device with Vol+ and Vol- pressed.
This way only works for SCL-L01 up to SCL-L04.
I need to create an extra recovery.img that includes a dt image that fits for all SCL variants.
Work in progress...
I have just removed frp today, but its not free method, unfortunately

Install new Recovery and Stock-ROM without IMEI and TA-Backup

Hi,
i've a little (big?) problem with my xperia tablet z (wifi; pollux_windy). 2 years ago i've rooted the stock-rom (4.2 or 4.4) and installed dual-recovery. a while a did nothing with the tablet. later i installed cyanogenmod 11 using the installed recovery. someday in 2016 i updated to cyanogenmod 12, but i can remeber how i did this exactly - maybe with a update-app? after the update to cm 12 the dual-recovery was overwritten with a cyanogenmod-recovery.
i don't know whether the bootloader is unlocked. i've unlocked i to root the device for the first time. when i search for the imei in "about tablet / status / imei" there is only "unknown". so at the moment i can't unlock the bootloader again.
when i boot the device in fastboot mode and try to flash twrp with

maybe this is because the bootloader isn't unlocked anymore? how can i find out that? how can i unlock the bootloader again without the imei or how can i find out the imei?

as far as I have understood they are two different partition, Sony devices have the recovery in the boot partition whereas other phones, such as my OnePlus One, have a dedicated partition.
But what I'm sure is that when I flashed TWRP in my OPO I used the "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" but in my pollux_windy I had to use "fastboot flash boot twrp.img"
doesn't work. i tried this on ubuntu 16.04 and in terminal i see the message
Code:

since 30 minutes. maybe this is because the bootloader isn't unlocked? but i'm not sure about that? how can i check this?

Try to download ExDialer - Dialer & Contacts and launch the code from there. I tried with it but it didn't work (probably because I'm on RR) so I doubt it will work for you but give it a try.
With the same app try
Code:
*#*#759#*#*
and I have "OEM mode = off" but I'm not sure if it means that your bootloader is unlocked.
Or download Secret codes, the app's icon is a magick stick with a star at the and it shows some codes and you can lauch them from the app itself. I think it only shows the codes available to your phone/tablet because it doesn't show 7378423.

On CM there is no service menu, so it won't work.
Unlocking is possible with Flashtool or fastboot commands.

Support needed - Roll back to STOCK ROM

Hi there!
Today have flash into Pixel Experience ROM with TWRP.. to be honest I'm not satisfied at all with this ROM and there are some issues going arround.. I would like to return to the stock ROM (Android One) if its possible..
I've downloaded one ROM from http://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?device=1900372 and maybe i can flash it with fastboot but if it not possible probably it will brick..
Its possible to return it to the original/stock ROM? How?..
Please, i will really appreciate your support.
Kind regards!

Sounds like you used "flash_all_lock.bat". Boot up the phone and enable OEM unlocking in developer settings and try to unlock the bootloader in fastboot again.

I think when flashing the rom you were in slot b and plus you have locked the bootloader. Now its not possible for you to flash or unlock bootloader, you have to go to service center. I have faced the same problem, and i took to service center and they fixed it. They told me that they had to take out the back panel.
