[Q] Error in OTA update error in /cache/blur_version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US.zip - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys, I have an error that i couldnt find a solution by searching in this forum:
i had a full, stock OLYFR_U4_4.1.83 image SBF'd, rooted it, WIFI&tether enabled and sideloading enabled. Also I believe HDMI mirror AND/OR used the Webtop Mod that doesnt require the docking bay. my problem is now, that i get the OTA update to 4.5.91 (about 161 MB), but at reboot-install i get the error
error in /cache/blur_version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US.zip
status 7
install aborted
I did the WebTop Restore Mod and I *BELIEVE* its put back to "stock"but I am not 100% sure.
can somebody please point me in the right direction to fix this so OTA can be applied ? In addition are there certain things to be considered that I have used the GingerBreak Mod for Root access before the OTA upgrade to 4.5.91 ?
thx-a-thon
cheers

imhaving the same issue! Help please!

If I am not mistaken you cannot pull and apply the OTA via the Software update function if you have modified anything in the /system directory. I had a problem because I changed by bootanimation, which got me in a boot loop when trying to install the update. I ended up unlocking via pudding and flashing the 2.3.4 update... You could also update via MSU (Motorola Software Update) via the Motorola Support site..
Edit: Are you using Stock recovery to try to install the update?

Im getting the same error, i think it's because i messed with the bootanimation.zip to remove the default at&t logo... How do I restore that damn logo?

The name of the file which the install/update fails on is in the error. Replace it with the stock apk and you'll be good. It helps to know what mods modified what system file apk's so you can reverse the changes. dockservice.apk, the odex files and portalapp.apk all stopped me from updating OTA; but once I restored factory apk's in the system app path I was good to go.

use that .zip to extract any files that you modified. I don't know if that will work but you can try.

It will work as long as all the modified apks are replaced and it is made easier by the fact the ota update tells you which apk or odex file is failing the install.

[Q] Unable to update razr, No blur_facebook.apk

I have been trying to update my droid razr to the latest 6.12.173 from verizon, but the update fails on 'Verifying current system'
The error is:
apply_patch_check("/system/app/blur_facebook.apk"...
When I first rooted my phone I deleted this apk by accident. (noob mistake, I should have froze it instead)
I have tried replacing the apk with one I downloaded from 4shared, but I don't know if it was a working file or not.
I have also tried a factory reset and still have the problem.
Is there a way to replace this file or get around the verifying process?
Thanks for all your help.
You should be able to grab the right apk from a ROM dump. You'll probably want to use something like Root Explorer to copy the file so you can set the permissions on it.

need SmartCarDock.apk for ota update

Have followed all directions for applying this update. I keep getting the error on SmartCarDock.apk when applying the update. I have downloaded a system dump and extracted the file, placed it in the system/apps folder and set the permissions. Still getting the same error on the file. I think I need the correct hash on the file. Attaching a screenshot of my error.
UPDATE - I used the AP Fastboot using instructions by Tomsgt123. THANKS! Worked great. Haven't re-rooted yet, but my mobile hotspot entitlement edit held through the update so I don't really need the root right now. May apply Razr Blade at a later date.

[Q] I broke it

Hi guys!
I was hoping one of you could help me.
Yesterday i modified a build.prop file on my NextBook EBM8000ND (Next800T) tablet, causing it to get stuck in a bootloop every time it's turned on. I've been searching the Internet all day long but it's hard to find support when you have a device which no one in the world uses . It was rooted but I did a factory reset hoping that it would fix it. It didn't and now it's also unrooted. I tried to make a custom update.zip with the backup of the original build.prop file but the stock recovery simply refuses to load any update file. It always stops at verification. I used 7zip with store option. I tried signing the zip, I even edited the updater script to only print some text on the screen but the recovery still wouldn't load it. I tried to find a way to install CWM using sdcard but with no luck. When i tried to use ADB in recovery the device says: "failed to open driver control: No such file or directory". It might be worth mentioning that I found my device's ROM online with boot.img and recovery.img files and a .tar file which contains the original system folder.
Is there any way to make the stock recovery (since installing CWM or TWRP seems impossible) read my update file? Or is there another way to fix this? I only need to replace that single file.
Hoping to get help soon.
Cheers!

Update 09/12/2015

Hey me again.
So I just got an OTA update notification, but since I'm on a custom recovery, I can't install it. Don't suppose anyone would go to the trouble to re-package it as a flashable zip file for TWRP/clockworkmod?
Thanks.
flash recovery on OTA pack
There isn't any recovery and the firmware.zip can't be extracted
I'll have access to a full stock Asia phone that's had the update applied tomorrow. As long as the recovery.log is still in cache I should be able to work out which files where updated and create a TWRP update zip file from it.(If its just stagefright libs being replaced it should be compatible across regional roms)
I can provide the ota from Poland play version

Have you installed the update? Last time i tried i couldn't do anyrhing with a ota_update zip. But with a twrp /system backup and hopefully a recovery.log file from an updated rom, i think I can work out which files were updated and create twrp compatible update.zip based on that. The asia ota_update was only 87Mb in size and trying to address the stagefright bug from what I've seen. Is that the same for you?
No, I can't install it. Mine was around 38mb
edit: ok i found a solution, if you have a backup of your rom (i got it after got installed twp for first time) open it with winzip or 7zip then navigate to sytem>bin>bebuggerd and copy it to the phone. then with a filemanager with root privileges replace the current one and give proper permissions. thats it

Extract update .p files

I am stuck can't upgrade my phone through OTA as /system/build.prop and /system/bin debuggered have been modified by some root app.
So I managed to find the link to the OTA .zip and poking through it on the pc I removed the two lines in the update-script which verified the two files.
So the update installs itself without giving errors but when I reboot the phone info displays the same old firmware version.
I was thinking the build.prop is to be looked at but the one in the update is build.prop.p and I can't figure out how to open it.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
The endgame is to upgrade from 4.4.4 to 5.1.1 but I think I have to do one update after the other..
nobody? please helps..
