[APP] BlurPhone.apk MOD - Better In-Call Background - Motorola Droid X2

I really really dislike the bluedialer in-call background. It's ugly, and not even rendered correctly, seriously I could have created a better background in photoshop in less than 5 minutes.
With that being said, I have put together a few different styles for the in-call background image. Obviously, the last one is the x2's blur ugliness. They are platform signed and ready to go! This is only for the Droid X2, please do not try on any other phone.

This is a system app replacement. There are instructions below if you are unfamiliar with this process, it's pretty straight forward, and you can't really go wrong.
Let me know which one is your favorite. I'm really curious. I love 4 and 5 the best.
Instructions:
There is a really good guide, here. It spells out exactly how to replace a system app. I suggest using root explorer, it's only a few dollars in the app market, but it's been well worth the money. I always use it. There are also alternatives, I think FileExpert is one that uses root permissions. (Obviously being rooted is essential here!)
The apks attached will need to be renamed to BlurPhone.apk first! Then copy it over to /system/app, once you've done that make sure it's permissions are set as follows (long-press on file if using root explorer):
Then reboot, and you're done. Make a test call to be sure it works. If it doesn't, you did something wrong.

I prefer the green personally

Which one do you like the best?
I have already attached number 4. I will be doing number 3 soon. You can't install. You have to push to system. Use rootexplorer, set correct permissions, then reboot. Working great for me!

Love it! About to install. Where do I push it in system? If you could spell it out, as far as where exactly to put it, and what exact permissions, that would be awesome. I hate the default background...

@mistawolfe Check OP, I updated it with instructions.

in order of preference
5, 3, 4

Thanks man, worked perfectly. Anyway you can PM me or post the 3rd (blue) one? I would really like that one.
Thanks

They are all posted now. Check OP. Cheers for the Droid x2!

+1 for number 5.

Just givin a bump...installed blue-aurora and its pretty cool!!!

Any chance on updating these (at least #5, anyway) to work with Molton ROM?

So just on replacing system apps in general, if I want to replace the Eclipse Text Messaging app already on my phone with the Handcent app (which is my default sms app and is already on my phone), would I download the apk online? Or is it the apk located in the data/app folder, and I would just rename it, move it over, and adjust permissions?

cyanogen v6.1.2 minor theme

Has Liquid battery
wifi changes
bluetooth colorized
sdcard colorized
and more..
didn't get to signal bars yet.
put framework-res.apk in androidsdk/tools
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb reboot
if you get read only file...go to root explorer , system/framework and click r/w, and hold down file to open to permissions ..check all, also for framework-res.apk
seems cyanogen is using the same sizes and width from the mytouch 3g, I checked the sizes and there the same on certain icons. used parts from my3g themes.
if you want to add your own, open framework-res.apk,res,drawable-hdpi folder.
open ipg file and match up the properties with your own.
little something.

The battery icon is awesome. i like the theme.
I like it a lot. And definitely keeping it. Like WiFi, battery, and all the colors. I have to wonder if its more of a battery drain but I don't care if it is (though I tend to autohide the status bar)
The other thing I want to point out is that after I applied this, I had to re-add my accounts (gmail and Facebook) as they were forgotten. Not a big deal, just something to note.
You should see if you can submit this to the folks at cm to be merged into the Rom.

For Everyone That Loves The Rotary Lock Screen, But Hates That Stupid Horizontal Line

I've been using this fix on my own mods, as you can see from my screenies. Since editing androids xml files is an absolute pain in the arse, I've choosen to edit two png's with great effect. The two files are located within your roms framework-res.apk, so this edit isn't for your everyday user. A poor edit of your framework-res.apk can leave your current rom crippled. Having said that the two files are both located in "framework-res.apk / res / drawable-hdpi". Within drawable-hdpi, the files are "divider_horizontal_bright_opaque.9.png" and "divider_horizontal_dark.9.png". Be aware that the files used to produce that line may be different in different roms. I use this currently in a modified version of Trigger 2.9.2, without problems.
One method you may want to use to edit these files is by using an app from the market called "NinjaMorph". It allows you to edit apks on your phone.
And for those wondering, my rotary is completely custom, with an LCD density set to 200. At that density my screen width is actually 580px, so all related files need to be edited accordingly. Have fun...

Thanks! nice mod. i love messing with my framework a lil
- are you saying just to delete those 2 .png's from framework?
- also what horizontal line are you referring too? attached is a pic of mine and i dont see anything really that could be removed
Oh I think i see the line, is it above the charging and below the date?
EDIT -
- LOL, ok so its definitely not just DELETE those 2 .png's if anyone does that ur gonna bootloop(at least i did) restore nandroid and try again. I'm gonna try maybe to replace the .png with a different pic we'll see. I have a transparent .jpg ill try out.
- I wonder what about the exact opposite .png's? "divider_horizontal_bright_.9.png" and "divider_horizontal_dark_opaque.9.png"
I'll keep playing with it
Appoligies for the belated reply...
Firstly, never, ever, ever, just delete things from your framework-res file. Like I said, It'll cripple your rom.
Second, I apologize for not clarifying, I attached the 2 files to my post. But like a retard, I forgot, ((( They're Transparent PNG Files!!!! ))) lol.. they're attached to my post, you just can't see them because they're quite literally, "invisible". Here's the relevant Links.

And yes, your spot on with the horizontal line location. It can be seen in virtually all rom's with a rotary lock.

gingerbread keyboard how to get orange bounding arrows?

Hi guys,
I installed the gingerbread keyboard running
the gb debloat.
I still have the green bounding arrows, is it
possible to get the 3 orange bounding arrows
like in the picture below?

That usually depends on your roms theme I think
Sent from my TBolt using my f**king thumbs...
Yep, part of the theme. If you open up a Tmo theme engine apk you'll notice "frameworks_res_text_select..." pngs which are the bounding arrows then there should be an xml indicating the highlight color.
If you just want to swap out the ones you currently have instead of applying a theme, they're located in /system/framework/framework-res.apk named "text_select_handle...". Find a theme with the color you want and swap away.

thanks for the info.
I'm currently running the basic GB debloat. I've looked in the
framework-res.apk but I didn't see the stock icons. So I then
looked in the htc.resources.apk and I found them:
- text_anchor_bar.png
- text_anchor_bar_top.png
So i used ninjamorph to replace those 2 pngs but it still shows
the stock icons :/
any idea where else those icons could be?
I just downloaded the GB debloat from here to check (i assume that's the one you're on).
As I mentioned, they're in /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi and they're named "text_select_handle...".
Also, remember to reboot after changing to see the effects.

yup that is the one
Yes i did look I did find that folder earlier:
/system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi
the thing is it already has those orange icons in there below
however it still continues to show the top green/black ones.
ah, I get what you're saying now. Yea, sense uses those custom ones from htc.resources. I don't mess with sense roms any but I'm pretty sure replacing the green ones like you did with ninjamorph then finishing the project and rebooting should have worked.
You might also want to try deleting those files and see if it falls back to the ones in framework (not sure if that will work but easy to try). As I said, I don't mess with sense roms so I'm not completely sure. Maybe someone that themes sense roms can help you more.

cool thanks for confirming for me. obviously we were on the same
page lol because I just did both of the above before i read this
- deleting the stock green icons, ended up crashing the mail/msg apps.
I was unable to even open either of the 2.
- i then used ninjamorph to replace the stock green ones
in htc.resources. even resized them to match.
but they reverted back to the original ones after reboot lol.
thanks again for your help @absolute

[Q] Messaging Icon

does anyone know how I can apply this messaging icon without using a ROM that has one. I want the stock look and feel but just with the icon changed. Or at least does anyone know where I can get that specific icon?
Pics related.

Hahaha thats neat, I feel good knowing that I'm not the only one that noticed the different messaging icon from the boxes and previews. Though it'd be cool if you could change the look of it to that; looks a lot more elegant than the stock one, I'm interested in this.
For the longest i wondered why my weather widget was bigger than the one in all the preview pictures of the phone but then i realized it was resizable..
it bothers me so much.. but I deal with it.. there are themes with this new icon but I really don't want much/anything changed but the messaging icon itself

Hmm, heres an idea, it will LIKELY work I'm thinking, ask the devs for their messaging apk, and replace your messaging app the one from the custom rom using root explorer. Im betting it will work! Its at least worth a shot id say.
hmm.. you're right.. I never really thought of that! It wouldn't hurt giving it a whirl.. while making a donation in return.

Yeah, worth a shot, just back up your entire rom/app beforehand though. in case it doesn't work.
did u try to put out our mms.apk from root/system/apps on ur pc. open it with winrar go to this directory res\drawable-hdpi and just replace the .png file of ic_launcher_smsmms.png i think... and after that put the whole .apk back to your phone. the only thing u need is root and rootexplorer or es explorer, which i used
for it worked that way and it was preaty easy... give it a try
yeah but where would I get that icon to begin with...
EDIT: i did what you told me (i found a ROM that had the icon I was looking for) but it looks a little low res for it to be a good icon.. any ideas on how to work around that one?
EDIT II: I figured it out.. edited the apk but when I go to install/reinstall? it says "application not installed" and I have no idea how to edit it in Root Explorer.

The Way Blur Should Have Been
Last updated: 8.27.2011 v0.94
Got tried of the Gingerbread look, I kinda missed a little blur. I do enjoy a little bit of black though. Still a work in progress, and there are a lot of things that still need to be done. Let me know if you find any bugs or want to suggest something. I'm no photoshop artist; so credit is due where credit is due. This is mashed up from places, and a lot of modifications by me.
Attached to this post.
The monkey and the skateboard.
You must flash over a Gingerbread rom.
Please do not flash this over CM7 or HP Touchpad. It won't work.
Flash using custom recovery.
If you want to know how I changed the ERI Banner from "Verizon Wireless" to my name, head over to my tutorial I posted!
This is great, installed fine. Main problem is, can you upload these and this version without your name as the ERI instead of making us do it? Probably back to Verizon Wireless. Also some of the text for certain programs in the notification bar is white on white (Dropbox when uploading/downloading).
I'm not running Eclipse yet (waiting for newer update) but was wondering where you got that lockscreen and if you could change the lockscreen to look more like this theme. I love the blue for 3G and Signal .
Oh! Whoops....... forgot i gad my name on there. I pulled it straight from my phone. The lock screen should be styled, it's part of pattern lock. The slider lock screen is just Gingerbread style, ill look into getting a Honeycomb slider lock screen.
Sorry guys about my name being in there!!
Edit: FIXED!! Check op.

Tapin' the talk from my Droid x2.
I'm kind of new to this so this may be a stupid question. I installed this theme but my battery in the status bar doesn't look like yours... Is that another app that I have to download?
Never mind, it worked after I rebooted.
Flasjed this over Eclipse v.6 Remix. Looks good. Thanks again.
