ordered one for the Mrs yesterday, £240 SIM free

Available in denmark for 2300-3000DKR depending on carrier(over a 6 month period with usage), 2200dkr no contract.
Gonna get one in 1-2 weeks time. Glad to hear i can root with superoneclick, so i can erase all i don't want.

just got mine for HKD2100, thats GBP 165.50 no contract, the retail price in hong kong is HKD2198 (GBP 173.30) no contract needed.
before you buy, check for dead or bright pixels, this phone has lots of them, my first 1 had 10, and the other phones had 2-3, and my final one had 1 at the bottom of the screen, didn't quite check it in details, but since it a cheap phone, i'll stick with it.
here is the code to check it
*#*#7378423#*#*

Found one cheap in a store by accident today, so what was supposed to wait 1-2 weeks was bought today!
So far all i can say is that this is what the original mini pro should have been all along! The only negative things i can come up with is that the jack socket doesn't support HTC/iPhone headsets (there are quite alot of those, so alot of good ones) the jack seems to be some proprietary stuff again, the headphones that come with the phone are quite alot better than the ones with the x10 mini pro though.
The Keyboard is a little softer and got a slightly different layout (atleast the danish layout) than the x10 mini pro. Personally i liked the feedback from the x10, but i guess i just gotta get used to a softer keyboard.
Checked for dead pixels on mine, not a single one. So i'm happy.
Ask away if anyone got questions.

i actually checked in the in the shop for about an hour, didn't find anything, but when i got home checked it in a pitch black room, i found 10, some were very dull and hard to see, two were very bright, you need to look very carefully.

HI, not been able to root xperai mini pro sk17i with super one click (2.1 & also with 1.5) & neither ginger break worked.
I believe there are some issues with rooting gingerbread phones. in most of the 2.3.3 phones super one click doesn't works.
p.s. costs 15,200 INR for me

Tried rooting mine aswell, no luck with either of Them. Hope we can root em soon, the se bloatware is bugging my eyes

[Q] To root or not to root...

Good day.
I'm brand new to android and I see many people have 'Rooted' there phones.
Q is, what exactly is root?
What does it do to your phone?
What is the possitive side to it?
BTW, i have a current contract with my SP, so I can only get my droid X10 later this year.

+1 for root. Root basically gives you more control over the phone, the positive side being you can customize it more to your liking. And it's been made a whole lot easier thanks to the One Click Root app.
I root my xperia x10a for more battery life and boost my speed
I just bought X10 10 days ago.
Should I wait 2.1 official or root my phone now?
I unlocked my X1 after buying for a half of month (WM), but I don't know too much about Android.
I recommend to wait; mine is rooted, no big deal about it, i just uninstalled moxier and foreign keyboards. There are only a few useful applications that require root, if you can live without them just wait for the update.

Help!! I want to buy Xperia mini pro

hi guyz i want to buy this xperia mini pro soon, could you give me some feedbacks? the quality, speed, performance, camera, & problem etc.
if i want to purchase what should I check it? and how to check/test it (basically i check wifi,sms/call,camera/video ) what i mean is for the speed, performance, etc that can i locate the problem or defect..
And...This phone can play actually in facebook games like holdempoker, tetris?(which i mean support flash 10.3?) , and for the updates, is this possible can upgrade 2.3.4 soon?
it is true that Manufacturing dates affected in xperia mini pro regarding noise background, camera blurred, annoying screen when slide keyboard
(you can check under your battery for the build date of your device)
Here are the list affected:
* 11W28
* 11W29
* 11W30
* 11W31
Is this true?
and do you have own 11W32 manufacturing dates which has no defect like issue above?
I bought this phone and had used it for a month and I have no regrets. Its fast and awesome. I couldn't believe sony would make such a great phone at this price. Its almost equal to the big 'Xperia's.
I would definitely recommend this one.
There are certain problems, of course. I'm not on facebook, but yes it supports flash player 10.3. Calls are normal, messaging app is simple(no prob for me). But you can always use 3rd party apps.
Camera is not that good for still shots. I've used nokia phones n95, n97mini and they are way better. Video camera is the best Ive seen(that's because this is the only camera with hd recording that I've seen). I've heard of the noise problem too but I didn't care. It doesn't happen everytime you use the camera. About the battery problem, I'll check later. There's no annoying screen( I don't know what you mean) when you slide keyboard or use autorotate. But the space key is very annoying. You might want to check that before buying. I have to press it two to three times for it to work. Maybe I got a defective product, but anyway its the thing I hate the most out of this phone. And yes, it can be upgraded to 2.3.4 coming this october I think.
Feel free to ask more...

wow thxs for your great informative response.. If i download 3d games like asphalt 6 or battlefield etc it required to root it first?.. and it is recommend to root new phones like 1 week old (i know it will void warrantly, but how about the other disadvantage in rooting?)
for android os, the spec shows that 2.3 but all users has 2.3.3 . I am little confusing about this, is they manual flash to get 2.3.3 or if I buy it actually 2.3.3 already?
for the annoying screen while slide keyboard check this youtube and forward @13:11 and i have found out other user crossed this issues but i lost that link but it is similar to these. . .

Mine is already at version 2.3.3 when I bought it. So no flashing needed.
I'm on slow gprs internet right now so I'll watch the video later. I forgot to tell you that an annoying colourful screen appears sometimes when I open many apps and games at the same time and then pressing the home key to go there. Not that the screen stays like that, but it happens very fast but you will notice it. I happen to see pink and green lines. You might have seen such a thing on PCs(it happened on mine). It freaks me out so I never did that again. I used taskmanagers for switching.
If you buy licensed games, I don't think rooting is needed. I haven't thought of buying just yet, and don't intend to root my phone till my warranty runs out. I'll have to study more about rooting before doing it as I'm new to android OS. I'm satisfied with playstation games at the moment.

ahh okay.. I am also new in android OS. So I will wait couple of months before proceed in rooting. (seriously I'm scared when attempting to root especially when they warn you like "rooting procedure incorrectly may have brick your phone" LOL. For the wifi did you check it before you purchase? it seems few users also encounter in wifi which unable to connect. . Maybe when I purchase this phone I know what you mean in taskmanager
rooting itself will not void your warrenty, as it can easily be undone as if you never tampered with the device. However, there is no easy way to root the phone (as in superoneclick or gingerbreak) and requires unlocking the bootloader which will void your warrenty.
I've heard that rooting can be undone, but is it a simple process or does it involve flashing a rom? I'm scared of flashing my phone. I've never done it even with my previous windows mobile and symbian phones.
And delmarz, about the wifi thing, I never checked 'cause I know I won't be needing it. But I've tried wifi tethering with my xperia and other phones which connected from mine ran with the same speed as in mine(alone). (...but seriously, I don't know which phone gets the credit in this case)

Root itself lets you have total control over the android system. I haven't rooted mine because I dont see the need to. Everything runs perfectly.

Not rooting ya android phone is like having a pretty young GF and not boning it every night.
It lets you install some very useful apps, get rid of the horrible bloatware crap networks install, and gives you full control of your device.

One really useful thing is that it is possible to take a backup of all the program's setting, game acheivements etc. This is not possible with a non rooted phone. The backup programs can't access the app db if not rooted.
If you need to reset your phone for some reason, at least your work and progress isn't spoiled.

Congrats, welcome to the family.
You downloaded the .apk file or the 'sdcard' data? For sdcard data, you can google where to put it (plus there should be an info from the site you downloaded). For installer (apk file), keep it anywhere. Try refreshing your folders or close the window and open again(if you're searching from pc). There should be no problem locating from the phone itself with any file manager.
Otherwise, use application installer from menu. It will automatically search for it. Careful though, nfs shift is the app that started the 'annoying screen' in my phone. I downloaded the installer and installed it, then started it, while downloading its data, I pressed home and then whoosh the pink-green-blah blah blah screen came in a flash. Most android users will try nfs first, don't worry.
Hello!
Advantage from rooting:
Full control over the device.
Disadvantage from rooting:
Losing capability of DRM reproduction and the trackid feature/app

Don't really need that. Just open application installer from the app drawer and if you really did copy to your phone, then it will be shown there.

[Q] So I just ordered a xperia tablet s...

Hello !
I just ordered the 16gb version (no 3g) for about $320 (a lot more expensive here usually). It's one which apparantly was sent back and got a general maintenance. Got it from the German Sony outlet online store. Obviously the first thing Ill do will be checking for errors and sending it back if its not alright.
I will be travelling to asia for about a year as of august and thought it was pretty fitting so I just ordered before they're all gone...
Now I'm wondering a few things!
Will I be able to connect via 3g with an internet dongle like the huawei E137 ?
Can I connect my 2.5" external hdd without additional power? I read almost everywhere that it doesn't work on all the tablets, but I also think I read that the sony usb port is more powerful and can stream over hdmi without additional power. I know that ill need an OTG usb host cable. It's a Samsung s1 mini with 120gb.
The bigger question is however which updates I should install. I read a few threads on here (very confusing with all the sony tablets being in one place...) and couldn't really come to a conclusion.
I don't really play games, except Id maybe like to play some N64 stuff on an emulator. I mainly want to use it to browse the internet, do hostel bookings etc. and watch movies.
Im sorry if these have been asked before, I couldnt find an answer :/
No you can't connect to 3g. Not sure about HDD.
Note: should have got a xperia tablet z

Second that. Probably better value down the road seeing as support for this will be abandoned soon probably... if not already.
It's not possible to connect to the internet via surf stick?
I've seen videos on youtube where people do it with other android tablets. Is that a xts specific problem?
the xperia tablet z is exactly twice the price :/

The tablet does not have the drivers to run the dongle. The STS has this issue too. Since the XTZ is made by the Sony Mobile team, and not the Sony Vaio team, it most likely will support dongles... IMO it would be worth paying extra for the XTZ because of the much higher standards the mobile team has, its unlockable bootloader, high res screen, etc.
Hmm alright, too bad...
Could it be possible someday? With it being able to root now?
I really don't wanna spend another 250€, I can live a month in India with that money :/
I had a look a the tablet in an electronics market here and I think the display is more than enough for me.
Guess I'll have to live with tethering then.
I'll see if a 3G dongle works with the Xperia Tablet Z.

Instead of a dongle, use a wireless mobile hotspot device. Most are small enough to fit in your pocket, better than having a dongle hanging off your tablet, and there is no hassle with loading device drivers. I don't know what is available in India or Asia, but I'm in the USA and I use a Sierra Wireless Overdrive Pro™ 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot through Virgin Mobile.
XTS root, then you can also use a 3G dongle Since there's a free app in the Market "UMTS MANAGER" Try yourself and also works on 4.1.1 with root.
Unfortunately, USB hard drives consume a lot of electricity - are alternative USB sticks it should be paid to the format ... NTFS is otherwise only with root with the help of the free app "Paragon NTFS & HFS" so you can then mount ...
That sounds like some good news!
I'm still not quite sure whether I should send it back or keep it (hasn't arrived yet but is in transit...would the galaxy tab 10.1" be a better choice? its about the same price here).
Is rooting it risky? Is there any danger to it? Will it be possible with every device or could there be regional differences (mine will be german I guess)?
If I'll be able to root it, that means I can use all the apps there are basically? What about alternate ROMs, will that be possible?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm kind of new to the whole topic, though I did root a smartphone I had
Come to think about it, I could use that as a mobile hotspot maybe... Though I'd have the same problems with being dependent on a second battery :/
I think if I'll be able to root it and it'd be able to use all those customized apps that make software things possible that sony tries to forbid or hasnt enabled at least the XTS would be a good choice for me since it's so cheap.

Rooting isn't risky - it's what you do with the root which is.
When you root a phone, you place a su binary file in the /system partition.
If your a new to this, you WILL brick your device. Don't mess with system files before asking here first :fingers-crossed:

If you read here first before firing off crazy commands its prob safe to root, having said that after you do the risk of bricking is high bcuz no custom recovery and boot loader is locked so you cannot just flash a Rom to fix it. If you are not in love with Sony for whatever reason, and depending on what you plan to do with the tablet, I would either save $100 and get a nexus 7 or spend extra $100 and get nexus 10.

[Q] X10 mini pro+x10_v1_blrelock=hardbrick?

Well, i try ICS but it was unstable, after repair with pc companion i try to install something more stable, but i am idiot.
I run bootloader succesfull, and then via flashtool flash X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf, and then boom, hardbrick the phone quess, because now nothing workes, wont charge, Led wont even blink, and i cant connect it to PC in anymore...
Is there any way to repair it at home, or it can be repaired only in servis with JTAG... ?
Only a JTAG unfortunately
well, unfortunatly jtag at my country cost half the price of new X10minipro from china(old supplies), or the price of used one... so i

I know... i've been looking around (just in case my x10mini starts dying at some point) and the only phone that attracts me somewhat is the Xperia Miro, but even that is 1.5 times bigger than this one. The Tipo would actually be my first choice, slightly bigger but with a gorgeous little design, but it doesn't have flash for the camera, that's a bit of a dealbreaker for me.

New E5823, running 5.1.1, no updates

Hey everyone, i recently purchased my dad a new Z5C for his bday from a seller on Ebay. I am a bit paranoid about it though because it is on 5.1.1 and i cannot update it. I have tried doing it from phone settings, and the Xperia companion, but both say it is up to date, and i included a pic of what i got from the Sony website when i checked the IMEI (http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/). So am i missing out on some info, is the update not fully out yet, or is this reason to support my paranoia.
On a side note, i have tried installing 3 tempered glass screen protectors and have gotten a large halo all around (air on the sides that wont come out) each time, is this common, do the glass screen protectors suck for this phone or is something fishy with this phone?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Here is a pic of the halo effect I was talking about plus those little bubbles a fifth of the way down. All 3 new protectors have had the same issue.
Must have bought from the same seller, because the same thing happened to me. I got mine today and it showed a message saying it was a prototype device, which is my guess for why it says it can't be updated and Sony claiming it to be up to date.
I am concerned about possible spyware and build quality issues, which is why I would like to upgrade it with a stock ROM ASAP. Sony probably won't help us, but maybe eBay can exert some pressure on the seller to take it back.

I just talked to Xperia support about half an hour ago and they suggested doing a software repair via the Xperia Companion program. Except when I tried to do so, I got the error "UEGetPhoneInfoFailure" when I had to hold volume down and plug it I to the PC. I got the phone from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/142324022634

Yup, same seller. Did Xperia support mention if the phone is identical otherwise? One of the main reasons I got this phone, other than the size and specs, was the water resistance, which the Xperia X Compact lacks. I wouldn't mind keeping the phone if all that's different is the firmware, assuming we can get it flashed somehow. I'll give the software companion a try tomorrow as well and let you know what happens.

The most surprising thing is that the phone was supposed to be sold either in the Netherlands or Norway (I don't remember which exactly) but other than that it is a normal phone. Warranty expired a few years back as well. But it is a genuine Xperia. I do really like the phone as well perfect size and good amount of power. And do let me know of the results. Hopefully we can get this sorted out

I got the software and all, now I'm just wondering about which firmware to download. my CDA is showing to be 1298-5153 and i only found it under E5803 showing as customized Saudi Arabia , but my phone is E5823. Do i have to download the same CDA or can i just download 1298-7260 (customized Australia)?

Congrats! How did you go about upgrading it? I've been looking for a way to backup the TA/DRM keys before I took the plunge. I think the issue is that the keys are not in the standard format, but I can't verify. Were you able to get the keys somehow?

You don't have to worry about that because you don't have to open the bootloader. I just checked to be sure and I still got all my keys. Follow this guide here https://www.google.com/amp/s/b.marf...flashtool-and-xperifirm-guide/?marfeeltn=amp.
Make sure you install the drivers correctly for the programs, if using Windows 8,8.1, or 10 it gives you special instructions. The flash tool you can get from here http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php.
As long as the software you get matches your model number it can be any country. There was no US for the E5823 I went with customized Australian. If you need anymore info just reply or send me a message
Neither of the two links work for me.
