[Q] Galaxy s 2 home button click - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it normal for the home button on the GS2 to make a clicking noise when you press it in?
Thanks

Already discussed in this thread...

...which you yourself opened.
Don't make duplicate threads, and it's probably a good idea to read the rules.

Sigh

To be honest I forgot I made the other thread and plus I only got the one other reply which doesn't really confirm if it's normal.

help, updated ROM and now wifi is gone!

I went to the official HTC website and i updated the ROM to the latest version and now when i turn on wifi, it senses that my network is there and it says "connecting" but does not go any further than that. any suggestions?
ps, i've tried resetting the router with no luck.
you couldn't read down the page to see the thread already at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=304004 ?!?!?!?
instead, you had to be lazy and start this thread?!?!?
mods, please lock this thread and consider a ban for this user....

hey jackhole, i read that thread and htat isn't the same problem that i'm having. the people in that thread were not even able to turn wifi on. if you could just see the post above yours you'd know. instead, you had to be lazy and post this dumb, waste of a post. good going.
anyone have anything productive to say?
yeah, there is a VERY easy solution for your problem. (I had it myself several times)
however, since you are so experienced with the search button I will let you go find it yourself...
SkyyBoy, don't be a ****... you flamed the guy suggesting a thread that had nothing to do with his problem, so he FLAMED you back for being an idiot.. why not just say 'i apologize' and helping him out.. grow up.
.................OR
we could all calm down and try to fix this problem instead of bickering??
@evilelf2407
I assume you have doubel/triple checked your wifi settings including the key and type ??
Also go into start>settings>connections>wifi and move the slider to best performance instead of best power (since on best power the range is reduced to lower power consumption...and on performance its jacked up and needs an AC adapter...almost hehe).

Slow wakeup Workaround

One thing I have noticed is that if I am having problems getting the phone to wake up when pressing the end call key is that if I press the call send key(green one) the phone almost always wakes up.
If it doesn't wake up after pressing the green key I can just slide my finger on the screen like I am unlocking it and then the screen will go on.
Hopefully the developers can look into why pressing the end call and send call give different results for waking up the phone and this will help you get your device to wake up a bit better.
Just as a note - I did this using Shubcraft 1.5
I try to keep away from the end key for wake up. I use home key generally... If I use end key there are usually freezes to follow.
try to keep the threads clear of personal thoughts
Personal thoughts are what keeps the community going bro...without it there isnt much to share
Both the posts I find to be very valid

i've only hand froyostone V2 not wake up on me once, so i will try the "send key" or the "home key" tip to wake up my phone if it happens again...
thanks for the tip
I've been doing that since the 2nd day i had android it dosent always do it though

do you even understand why so many people are getting annoyed by these threads , Its a respect thing if a mod states what the rules are for these theards , but people are not following the rules , this belongs in the general section or , in the build thread that he or she is using , who else better to help you , then people who are using what you are ...just common sense to me

I feel its a right thread in the right forum. It is regarding troubleshooting and it has to do with development of the Android Builds. It is not a general android question.
These personal observations that everyone share give Developers feedback and help them make their ROMs better.
No offense to thatruth132 but its just bad to turn down someone who is willing to help the community.

It's same here, thanks for the tip

Except the forum in question is called HD2 Android Development General. Personally, I don't care either way but they make a valid point. Additionally, you are actually going to get a lot more developer feedback there than here.
I confirm yes button wakes better:

at least you got the point
That seems to really work - shouldn't the buttons be totally same working, as waking up is a process from the os, no matter how initiated?

Thanks for ****ting on my thread. You are not a moderator and it seems like you **** on every single thread in this forum and never have anything useful to contribute.
I have found that the kernel makes a difference in the wake. I had stopped using the Sense build because of the slow wake and other hangs until I changed the kernel and it wakes instantly. I used the kernel from the mccm build.
Being that this is an issue across builds...i think you posted in the right place. Hopefully, it will help both users and developers find a solution.

[Q] Remap power button as a camera shutter?

Hi fellows,
Have you ever thought about remapping the Power Button to act as Camera Shutter. Unfortunately Samsung in our machine hadn't make any dedicated button for camera.
Is there any option to make something like that? Is it hard to achieve? Where to start?

The links you gave don't have a solution for the SGS2. Searching for something doesn't automatically mean finding something of value. Is there anyone working on a hack like this? I'm using tasker with a gesture at the moment but I find the process quite clunky in all honesty...

If you read the threads that were linked to, you would find that other people have asked and that there isnt a solution yet. I.e. No one is working on it.

I hope so. I suppose it is achievable, but it requires modifying ROM or some parts of Android system files. I wish I had enough knowledge to try find out how it can be achieved.

Have you done yet? Chill out and if you don't have anything clever to say, then stay quiet.
Perhaps you should chill out. I am asking about a feature, in a calm way. It is a valid question, and one that will perhaps drive someone to solve this particular issue. If it isn't an issue for you, please kindly troll another thread.

The issue is simple users who only want to repeat the exact same question day after day .
How the f** can anyone find time to do what you want answering the same question day after day and yes i should ignore the morons .

Alright, ignorning the 14 year old, the only way I found to use the camera is by making a gesture in Tasker, an app you can find in the market. It's pretty much an overkill for that, but it does work.
Here is the relevant page in the Tasker wiki, perhaps it will be of help someone:
http://tasker.wikidot.com/camera-gesture
I'm sure a better solution can be found, though.
Would love to have it too. Though When pushing the powerbutton you risk of shaking more. But in the end yes please

Everything is flawless, but I have no sound, no ringer, no notifications, but music works.. Ideas?
- GNote via Tapatalk 2
sometimes that happens to me too, i usually control the volumen through Settings>Sounds
Yeah I went through all that, finally after 5reboots the sound came back... Strange...
Anyone know how to put the charging sound from black star on this rom?
Now the notification sounds are gone... WTF.?!
- GNote via Tapatalk 2
you might want to ask that question on the appropiate thread, but that would be nice lol
Every time someone asks a new question the devs get all bent out of shape, ranting about ask questions in the q&a space....
Update, I was able to get the notification sounds working by messing with the sounds and volume in settings
- GNote via Tapatalk 2
i know what you mean lol thats why i keep my mouth shut n watch, so i don't get ***** at lol
So any who... How do I get the sounds when I plug the charger in? Is it possible to use sounds from other roms

What people need to realize, asking the question is fine, answering 50 times ticks them off, most questions are answered in the first three posts and people refuse to read and search, Google your questions add xda to it, you'll find something. Seems like everyone wants to be lazy and ***** about stuff. It's free and your getting stuff that no one has yet. Take it for what it is, be thankful. Almost every question you can think of has been asked a million times already. Follow the threads from the start. You won't have any problems or questions. All these roms are basically the same. That volume problem has been there since day one of jelly bean.

Actually I don't find this as true. Some Devs will even get ticked off if you even ask a question about customizing their work. Trust me. Been there and done that. Anymore even I won't post in the development section. Most Devs are cool with this though.

If a dev took a request from everyone who asked the ROM but crazy. Building a ROM is not difficult, I learned how to build cm10 from guides online. From there you can figure out how to add features you want.
I have no problem answering real questions in any of my threads and if the question is good I put it in the second post with all the other questions. Like dafoxs said, the only time i get annoyed is when people ask the same question on every page even though the answer for it is a couple posts up or in the 2nd post.
I am no a dev so I can't help people add in crazy options that they want, I just build what real devs create. For your vol issues OP, just up and down the vol slider, set the notifications you want and that's it, all will work.

HELP! Capacitive Buttons on Screen ?!?

Hello,
While changing my front glass screen of my S3, i've damaged the capacitive button interface, i've already ordered one new for replacement, but until there is there any way to have the buttons on screen like Nexus (NavBar) in a Touchwiz JB ROM? NOT like an AOKP or CM based rom.. I know that those have that option like paranoidrom.
Regards.
Check the first rule of XDA. Hint: you just broke it.
Your thread is also in the wrong section. Questions go in the QA
You're right.. i've posted on the wrong section...
About searching i've already did and didn't found anything for a International touchwiz JB ROM, can you post here an answer? or you just broke the rule 7 about this one?
Regards.

Well.. i got to admit, you're very good using google.. but i still didn't found anything on those results that works on a JB touchwiz, not CM10 based ROM, did you?
Rule N1
"Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news."
OUR=Google.. oh my bad, i've used XDA search engine, maybe its the same engine.. I dont know.
I Really apreciate your help, maybe i didn't said that i've tried everything on those results previously and that they didn't worked for me, it causes BootLoop's, so you assumed that i didn't searched anything, may be i didn't melted my brain searching but i've searched alot, im a member since 2008 and this is my 1st thread started by me, so i didnt started the thread without having a little fight with search options.
Thank you for you help.
