[Q] Anyone test p3's modified .zip - Motorola Droid X2

Anyone get in touch with p3 to test his modified 2.3.3 update.zip?
His tweet was about 3 hours ago so I am assuming he has passed it out to a couple people now.

my thoughts is that it didn't work and now he's keeping quite but who knows

I think he's busy he isn't on Twitter all the time lol

I tweeted him back and said I would test it but did not hear back.

He's out of town so probably busy, expect to hear back when he's not busy.

Same here... It was some time later but yeah, what the guy who posted before me said....

I assumee p3s zip is pre rooted? how about for the people that went ahead and updated, any promising root methods in the works?

If you're already updated, p3 said that you can sbf back.

If anyone has actually tried this please confirm or call shenanigans, too scared to try it myself

I would assume that is not true until it's confirmed x10.

[Q] Droid X2 SBF file available yet?

I got a new Droid X2 a couple weeks ago. I wasn't happy with how slow the phone was so I attempted to root my phone and remove the bloatware. To make a long story short I now have a phone stuck in a boot loop. Apparently the only fix is to flash it with an SBF file. Does anybody know of it being leaked yet? Are there any good resources to keep an eye on where it may get leaked to?
nope. just pay attention to the boards here and elsewhere.
I've checked the forums in every category for the DX2 every day waiting for some one to say they got one.

<sigh> I'm looking here and a few other places every day. If I come across it somewhere else I'll post it here.
Is there a way to extract it? If you can give me directions I would be willing to pull it from mine.

if you want to keep root id suggest you wait on the update till its prerooted other wise you will lose root for good untill an exploit is found in gb
Yes, but sbf can still be done to root again.
I'll bet GingerBreak works on it. I've rooted a dozen of phones all different makes and models and versions with that handy all in one program.

This is false information. On the 23rd testers where contacted and told the test was not ready but we would be be notified when it was. So no need to worry about going back stock just yet.

In theory it could work, but the d3 can't be rooted, but then again its using the omap processor, so its time to wait and see

Every android device could be rooted, practically if you know mac, or linux its just typing su (super user, and i believe it might be sudo (superuser do)) does that answer the question, if not then yes
No word about MP3 or video recording issues, either that or I just read too fast and missed it
I think the OP's question was, can he update, or will he receive an update notice if his phone is rooted? I would like to know this as well.
Also, I am confused or not reading a clear answer, will this version be rootable? I think it is 2.3.3...Gingerbread.
I like root on my X2 too much to update right now if there is no root.
Thanks in advance for any clear answers and explanations.
I am so excited I am going to start my sbf now. If they are posting it on their website they have to be really close with it.

I'm about to do the same!
Gingerbreak used to work for rooting Gingerbread but they fixed the exploit in the latest versions. So right now there isn't any way to root. Your best bet is to wait for a custom rom to come out with Gingerbread pre-rooted.

Successful Gingerbread Update

Thanks and good luck!
OP: Have you received the update? Or just setting up a thread for it. I'm in NYC and haven't received it yet. I did just get the email though from Motorola.
No, sorry.
No I didn't get any email.

How are you getting emails for updates? I've never gotten an email about any updates for this phone, Droid 1 or Droid x.
You have to be part of the motorola owners forum soak test application to get the email updates. I got mine 3+ hours ago.

Wow this is a really misleading title.... Anyway if we do get the update it wont be till tomorrow sometime during the day.
Yes i was just talking about the email.. There have been NO releases, and honestly those that do get it are binder by an NDR so they really aren't suppose to talk about it..
Im sure it will be out latest tomorrow. My phone is ready to test.

wow gingerbread is amazingly fast on this phone only thing im noticing is that we were supposedly getting the same blur as the droid3 but its not (seems like less blur widgets and no animations?) but yeah, wow
Successfully installed. I had frozen a bunch of stuff and I was rooted. Before I installed the update I defrosted everything, unrooted and then uninstalled gingerbreak. I had no problem updating and I've never had to SBF my phone. Hope this helps. YAY GINGERBREADS ! ! ! <3
Any word on if the supercharger script interferes with anything?

Guess ill use ginherbreak and unroot and debloat everything. Don't think an sbf is necessary

Got OTA update notification (Not soak test)

It's 3:05am in NC and as I was getting ready to leave work in go to check for the update in About phone and it is a available now. I have to unfreeze, remove scripts, and backup my phone then I will let the update install. Just thought I would mention that the OTA update has started. I am not in the soak test either.

Just throwing this out there, but for the people failing updates, did you by chance flash the ATRIX ports? I know that the kernel for 2.3.4 on ATRIX is not the same as kernel on X2. Just my two cents...

I haven't flashed any other roms. The only thing I did to my phone was root and use scripts. I have tried to update several more times and it failed each time. I don't know what else to do.

Got the update last night when I went to bed at 12am. Since I just got the phone two days ago, I was only rooted on 2.3.3 with nothing else done to it. It updated no problems, but I had to re-root after the install was done. Only things I've noticed so far is that everything seems a lot laggier than before. I still need to install recovery and debloat though. I hope that will help.

Funny story

So I was screwing around today and had the genius idea to put MIUI back on to play with it...no bog deal eight? So I sbf and all forgot that when I installed fedora I forgot to install the sdk so no adb and now can't root...no internet here for a couple more days oops...haha so I would take the update but I never signed up for the soak so not sure I would get it
