[SCRIPT] Bloatware removal for Kitchen.. - HTC EVO 3D

Sup folks, so I've been downloading different ROMs and making some adjustments to it for my liking.
In the process, I wrote a Linux/Mac shell script to remove the bloatware that I thought it's safe to remove. This is really helpful (I thought) when you are cooking different ROM and just don't want to do the bloatware removal manually.
Some background on how to use this:
1. Rename the removebloat.sh.txt to removebloat.sh, and do a chmod 755 if needed be.
2. Copy both files to your kitchen root folder.
3. Extract ROM of your choice via the kitchen.
4. Execute the removebloat.sh
Removebloat will look at the bloat.txt and remove everything from the WORKING_XXXX/system/app/ folder.
To *NOT* remove the app, simply remove the entry from bloat.txt.

Cool man, glad to find it's useful and it saved me tons of time to keep on deleting the same files over and over from ROM to ROM.

Nice!
Like my help? Thank me

Is there a way to use this once you have the rom installed

You can use it but you have to mod it to look for them in the phone instead...might be some work but doable. Let me take a crack at it to see if it works.

Also, this isn't PERFECTLY compatible with the OTA, so if users are using a dump of the latest ota, the apk names are slightly different i believe. Takes two seconds of modifying, no big. But this script has potential, im definetely using it in BRP CF (new rom), i'll give credit

[GSCRIPT MOD] HOW TO Backup/Delete/Restore BLOATWARE in 1 click! [UPDATED 29/06/2011]

Hi guys,
another day, another tip!
Today I will explain how to delete bloatware (Samsung Apps acc..) in ONE CLICK, just use GSCRIPT and MY SCRIPT!
You will say that our phone has this function ... But it is not true, or rather, this function has to pay.
To avoid spending money unnecessarily, I will explain how to do that in a few clicks!
Let's start!
What we need:
- Samsung Galaxy S II i9100
- Phone rooted (choose your preferred methods);
- IMPORTANT, BUSYBOX from Market (if not installed);
- GSCRIPT from Market (all credits of this app goes to PinkVenture, if you like it, buy a full version);
- My tips
What will do:
- Download my SCRIPTS (archive) and extract;
- Start Gscript, leave it to take Superuser acces, then press on:
Menu --> Add script --> Load file
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
and close it;
- a new folder called gscript was created in your INTERNAL SD;
- Copy my scripts in gscript folder on internal sdcard:
/sdcard/gscript
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
- Start Gscript and then press:
Code:
Menu --> Add script --> Load file
select the scripts, one by one, and check Need SU? then save;
- A new script is added!
- Press on the script you want and it start!
- Well done, all bloatwares have been Backupped/Deleted/Restored (chose what you want to do)!!
Archive password: socketandroid84
I hope that the trick will be useful!
Disclaimer
Anybody can use this scripts, but at your own risk. I take no responsibility for any conflict, fault, or damage caused by this appling morph theme. No warranties of any kind are given. I have tested my product and have not found any problems with it.
It's my IDEA, under copyright, you can use it, but you can't use the SCRIPTS in a ANDROID APPLICATION! I'm developing an unique android application that incorporate my scripts.
That's all!
Thank you!

probably best to use Titanium backup or Root explorer to remove them then.

You can modify the list when you add the script; in GSCRIP, open the SCRIPT and delete the lines that contains the apps that you want to save, like in a TXT file.
ES. if you don't want to delete BuddiesNow.apk delete the line:
rm /system/app/BuddiesNow.apk
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
and you save your BuddiesNow app!
Try it and let me know!
Simple

Which bloatware can be removed safely?

Now after we've got the root, let's compile the list of apps/things/bloatware that can be removed safely.
There is a report already that Font Changer causes a bootloop.
So far I did not remove anything, just used Titanium to freeze System Update, Social News Feeder etc.
I removed the following from the system/app folder;
favorites.apk
LiveWallpapersPicker.apk
PersonalSpace.apk
Phone.apk
S-Launcher.apk (I use ADW.EX)
SoundRecorder.apk (Which even in the folder can't be used)
Talk.apk
TelephoneProvider.apk (Use battery even though not in use)
VoiceSearch.apk
That was after a quick gander last night, over the weekend I'll post a full tweak guide.

SMemo will not work on nonTW roms as they are twframework dependednt..can't say about MyFiles..
However here are both the files for DLI8..
MyFiles.apk (2.5 MB)
http://www.multiupload.nl/4W6UVJU6RQ
SMemo.apk (16.5 MB)
http://www.multiupload.nl/J9YXLXYNN4
Push them to /system/app and set permission to rw-r--r-- and reboot
zoot1 is right. there is a lot of interdependency between the TW framework and the S-apps.
The same goes for AllShare and a few other Samsung-specific apps.
that sucks s memo doesn't work on non touch wiz roms

To set permissions use a Root Explorer to push the apps to systems/apps then go to the file settings and it should have options to change the permissions, alternatively you can do all this through adb but that's more technical and coding but I prefer through adb or android terminal
Through android terminal:
su
CD systems/apps
chmod filename.apk 644
That's if you pushed the files already
You need root you could always use Google for this stuff too lol
I use color note not for handwriting much but it gets the job done alternatively just use a picture editor to write notes I don't really know if any note apps

If I helped please press the thanks button

[XU]Deleted Apps

Hi. So uh, last night I tried installing this mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184413 (Shutdown Animation with Sound, for Xperia U obv.) but since I was disappointed with it because the resolution was for landscape, I tried removing it. What I did was delete the shutdown animation file. Along with it, after exploring the zip file, I found out that there were some apps along with it which I didn't know about since it wasn't in the included in the dev's post about it. I deleted these files:
Backup-Restore.apk
Backup-wizard.apk
beats.apk
GpsSatellitesNotification.apk
helpapp.apk
HtcBeatsNotify.apk
NetworkLocation.apk
OnOffTools.apk
PSCertifiedSettings.apk
SemcUnplugChargerReminder.apk
ShutdownAnimation.apk
SomcCameraAutoUpload.apk
Question now is that, was it okay that I deleted these things? I'm currently not getting any problem atm but just to make sure.
Thanks!

Hopefully you have made a Backup before Flashing/Installing Mods. If so just restore your backup via recovery.
The majority of the listed apks are required for ur system. By installing the Mod you have overwritten the original files.
Files you can remove are: beats.apk, HtcBeatsNotify.apk, PSCertifiedSettings.apk, SemcUnplugChargerReminder.apk
I also assume that some of the files also have installed/flashed Framework and Permission entrys!
Best thing to do is repair your phone using PC Companion.
Afterwards you will have to root your phone again. Kep in mind, after fresh install and root install CWM recovery and do a Backup. Thus you will always have the chance to get back to your original system if you don't like something.
If I helped you, pls hit the Thanks button.

Man, I "succesfully" flashed via cmw your ROM (after a proper clean install), but now it goes in bootloop, just the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini GT-l8190 start page, then black, over and over.. no way to enter the cmw with the combo buttons (as it used to work); it only works the download mode, but I can't use Odin right now.
