[Root] acquired with webtop dock or lapdock - Motorola Photon 4G

We are looking into some possible root methods in irc freenode #photon-4g
the method we are trying requires access to webtop. If anyone can hop on irc we may find root.
the phone was rooted on IRC last night

I just dismantled my old evo dock (official),.switched around the usb connector and I was able to use the hdmi mirroring on my tv...worked great!
Not sure if this helps anyone...was hoping I would be able to launch the webtop once I plugged it in but only had the standard options for the hdmi connection.

Awesome! Can't wait to hear the details!

Wow, you guys are beasts. Rooted this phone on the 2nd day it's been out. Is that a new record?

I have the dock. But I won't be able to assist until tomorrow evening.

You're killing me Smalls! How do you do this?

grats to those with the dock.......sincerely
how slim are the chances to get this done without the dock?; 100$ is a good chunk of money and i rather use the money to donate to the various devs responsible for rooting and roms.

I only picked up the dock to dock it at work and plug it into one of my monitors at work but only to find out my monitors don't have HDMI inputs. But least it is good for rooting.

Okay guys so someone update us, is this temp root or perma root? How'd you guys do it?

I had the same issue, but an HDMI to DVI adapter is only $3.

Remote view one android device from another

I've been searching around for this for a while, and haven't come up with anything google or xda or otherwise, however, if I am blind, enlighten me please
I am looking for a way to remote desktop my android phone (atrix) from my honeycomb tablet. Preferably over LAN, as I only really do it at home but not really close enough for bluetooth, however with bluetooth I could make do. Something like what the atrix can do with the dock would be nice.
Any Ideas?
Are you rooted? Vnc viewer on one and server on the other would work

can you post a link of the converters or cables u used? i got an extra rca input on my screen and i like your idea. think i may just do a HDMI hack, and run an hdmi and chargin cable to tuck my phone away. try to save on some cash, plus with some of the bumps and stuff i hit with my truck, the phone may pop out of the dock lol
im just dreaming, but the touch screen part doesnt work, just acts like a display, correct? not too long from now they will probably start making decks/screens with phone hookups, that will be the day i can sleep in peace lol

Using the Note as a Computer

I was looking at the Galaxy Nexus threads and saw this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_--zcmqIyRI and decided I would try it out on the Note. I did this on my Evo when I had one so this isn't a new idea but I kind like it. This isn't an in depth video, it just shows you how it works with what I have working with it. The commands that the Nexus user can use with his keyboard I couldn't get to work with the Note. Not sure if its an ICS thing or what. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laUNz7QJ9Wo&feature=youtu.be
I too have been playing around with this and it is a pretty novel idea. It isn't 100% there yet in terms of being a setup I could use full time, but it does let me travel without my laptop and plug in to a hotel TV.

Is there a way to make the Motorola Lapdock to work with the Note or something similar?
I was hoping to put Ubuntu on my phone and be able to mirror that to the screen.
Any suggestions?

Can you get any of the commands to work from the keyboard like the Nexus? I'm not having much luck there. Might be a gingerbread thing.

I just found an old Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard (it's a small black box that you set on a table, and it projects a full-sized keyboard onto whatever flat surface it's sitting on using a laser) I used to use with my Windows Mobile 2003 PDA and tried to pair it with my Note today. It works flawlessly! This thing hasn't worked with any of my devices since WinMo 5, and even then it usually required a driver to be installed. Not with the Note! Just need to be sure I have the Samsung Keyboard selected (but it doesn't need to be open). I just keep getting more and more excited about this thing (except for the dark splotches on my display and low Quadrant scores).
Ok this is neat for traveling. Anyone know what cable we need to connect to the lcd monitor?

You have to have the MHL to HDMI adapter for it to work. I got mine on Amazon for $22 including shipping and got it within 5 days. Then of course a bluetooth keyboard and mouse..works good. Does your monitor have HDMI?
Edit: If your traveling I'm sure the tv might have an HDMI...unless you stay in a Days Inn as I do..

The Logitech Tablet Bluetooth keyboard/android 3.0+ works nice with the Note.
It even has 3 special keys to enable the menu, home and search buttons.

I do this with my Transformer Prime via.the.HDMI out. I have to get a MHL adapter for my Note. But this is very possible for people who browse, email and play games. NES and NES ganesh never looked better on my Samsung 60"
I dont touch my laptop anymore. Only to download ROMS lol
It isn't quite there like someone said. But this is the future. For me at least.

Note 717 as a computer
I have been using the Note 717 as my home computer. I downloaded Liquid smooth 4.1.2 and now the HDMI to Micro USB adapter doesn't recognize the monitor? Please help....I would also like other ideas for hooking the phone to a monitor. The cables constantly cause issues with connection. thanks you

Has anyone tried an Android Mirroring cable?

Saw this video about android mirroring but wasn't too sure if it is useful. This cable will be going on sale today but I have not heard of anyone using a cable like this.

I guess one of the benefits would be to hook your phone up to it at work and pretend to be working on the computer while you are actually texting or playing poker. I dunno.
i used to be able to do something similar over bluetooth or wifi a few years back, but i have yet to find the program i used, and i will assume you would need to be rooted. its a cool idea in many ways, but its use i feel is more of a cool or sneaky factor.
Yeah, I am hard pressed to find a really good reason to buy one. Being cool is a good reason though.

Now there is Airdroid in Google Play. Free app that does not need root and is very cool. Works over WiFi.

The root method your probably thinking of is called screen casting using droid explorer. Pretty useful if you work in a strict office environment.

[Q] Need help finding an app

Here's my situation. I have stereo receiver in the las room in my house which is hooked up to some speakers that lead to the backyard. I want to be able connect my tablet to the audio input and control it with my phone. Any apps that do that. I have to be able to see what is on my tablet screen on my phone for I will be a good 10 ft. away.

This may be your solution, https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwyLDEsImpwLmNvLm9wdGltLm9wdGlhc21zbmciXQ..
And https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwianAuY28ub3B0aW0ub3B0aWEiXQ..
Now I do realise that it says it works for samsung devices however, give it a shot and see if they work anyways. If it does be sure to let us know.
