[Theme][3DGallery][Zip] - Streak 5 Themes and Apps

just a little something. I tried themeing stock gallery that came with 1.9.1, and nothing stuck. Really strange, plus the top bar is all screwed on that stock one. I themed the fixed gallery I linked to yesterday.
there's really not a whole lot to theme here. The one think that gets me is the blurry background, I will research if its possible to keep it one solid focused picture.
works on low and high res.
the top title bar thing, was still a little tough to get aligned, seems to be a problem with many devices I think. looks nice ok in the 160dpi screenshots, but over 200 theres a tiny bit of mismatch, close enough for now.
not much to say, try it out and enjoy.

Looking for photoshop help for custom wallpaper

Hey there everyone. So, I'm wanting to make this wallpaper. I can see it in my head, but I don't have enough experience in Photoshop or GIMP to make it come to life yet. I've been playing around with GIMP, but have only had it for a couple of days. I've done some reading and messed around with it a bit, but without some serious help present, this is just outside my expertise. I want to combine these three things -
1) Gothamesque Cityscape: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4691870612/
Scaled to 640 x 480 (I can do this part, it's easy...)
2) GOTHAM Banner:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4691238235/
Scaled to 640 x 80(the 640 is a must, but the 80 is open to your judgement)
I can do this part too, but blending is not part of my skill set yet.
3)Hoping to get a Bat Symbol, or Signal on the "O" for GOTHAM. I don't really have as much preference on this part, as long as it fits the color scheme.
The lights that are beaming from the city to the sky hits the "O" pretty much in the middle. Was hoping to use that idea to illuminate the symbol that is going to be covering the "O" for a bat signal type theme.
Here is a super rough draft idea of steps 1 & 2 so you can kind of get a feel of where I want to go-

So, that's it. Anyone willing to help a brother out? You'll receive my eternal gratitude and/or I'd be willing to make you a custom boot animation in return(providing it's from a video - that's all I have experience with at the moment). Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance!
Here ya go, let me know if it sucks. I just threw it together, if you need anything changed feel free to ask
Awww man, that is like 95% of the way to what I was looking for! If I had to be nitpicky, I would just like the symbol to cover that hint of black on the left of it and was thinking of maybe adding a bit of glow to it? I know in GIMP they call it Alien Glow, or maybe just making it look a bit more like the light from underneath is why that part is brighter than the rest of the letters. I hope that makes sense? I really like how you integrated the Gotham in the sky - keeping the same colors but it's still visible. Very appreciative, I am. I'm in the middle of posting my Batman boot animation (with a preview) on the Gallery thread. Check it out!
this should be better, let me know.
Looks great man! Thank you so much Going on my phone now, with my new Batman boot screen and animation. I gonna play around and make some icons soon. I think I should be able to handle doing those. I can handle cropping, scaling, rendering kind of things, just not blending and lighting effects yet. Thanks again!
Just giving it a shot.
Nice work Now, if I could just combine the best of both worlds there...lol I like the GOTHAM better on the first one and the Bat symbol better on the other. No offense to either of you, of course. Unfortunately though, it doesn't look as good on my phone as it does on the computer. This is entirely my fault as I wasn't factoring in how it lays stretched out by the launcher and you don't see enough of it's glory on my home screen. I definitely am going to use it for a wallpaper on my regular PC though! Now, I'm playing around with the idea of just a Bat symbol (the newer one from the films that is just the bat itself - not the oval) in the middle of the sky, half way between the skyline and the top. This blended in a bit with the transparent clock widget looks cool because then it's modern gothic looking Bat clock. Thanks for your efforts though, they will be put to good use, some how

[Q] Blurry screen while scrolling?

hello community,
does anyone beside me notice the screen going blurry while scrolling? best seen at websites with white background and dark letters. it really gives me headaches.
also noticeable while on websites is, that it's not only blurry but also graphics get pixelated everytime I scroll and resharp everytime when scrolling stops.
is this something special about the samoled+? bad refreshrate? maybe fixable? I'm using the phone rooted with normal ke2 firmware and kernel.
thx for your opinions.
I've gone through 4 (FOUR) Samsung Galaxy S2's with replacements due to various issues (overheating, restarting, corrupted screen) And on ALL of them, they blur with fast movement on the screen, especially noticeable, as you said, when it's dark text against a white background. This is purely becuause of the slow response time on the screen. It's a hardware issue, nothing you can do it about it.
Also graphics get pixellated when scrolling as the android OS lowers the quality of graphics while scrolling to make scrolling smoother.
These aren't really problems. Everyone is experiencing the same things as you and I. If anyone says otherwise it's purely because they can't notice it due to bad eyes or whatever but I assure you, it's perfectly normal.
thx for your quick response.
I feared that it's disappointing for such an expensive device. to me, it's kinda like looking at a bade configured screen or something like that.
so no weapon against a low response time, but graphics getting pixelated on a dual-core-monster ... i can go with that on weaker devices, but on this phone ... do you think it's worth asking if somebody knows how to disable that android "feature"?
and let me guess that other phone-screens (like LG optimus speed, which would be the nearest to an alternative) have that blurry problem too ... ?
thx again and feeling sorry for your 4 phones. but you still stick with samsung!
Noticed it too... However it is better here than on the incredible s I had for a couple of days.
With the graphical issue you mean the pictures getting bigger pixels when touching the screen huh?
Are you also having alot of these chess-like patterns while scrolling? Like on the iphone. Is this the browser that does it?
Yeah I was disappointed when I noticed the slow response time myself, especially considering this is a top end device.
I can't say if other comparable devices would have the slow response/blurry screen aswell as manufacturers always exaggerate the specs of screens to 'best case scenario' results, which is completely unrealistic. For example, Samsung states that the screen on the Galaxy S2 has a response time of 0.001ms, which if true, there would be absolutely no hint of blurring at all, however, as I said, they'd of measured it in a best case scenario, they were most likely giving the response time for GTG (or grey to grey, the time it takes for a pixel to turn from grey, to white then back to grey) and with the brightness set to max, I'd imagine 0.001ms wouldn't be far off the true result. However, they should really test BTB, or black to black, which is the time it takes for a pixel to turn from black, to white to black again, and this is the figure that Samsung did not quote, as it's a lot slower than 0.001ms (hence why black text on a white background shows noticeable amounts of blurring). But by my testing, I'd put the screen realistically, closer to 6ms.
And about the graphics turning to lower quality when scrolling, technically yes, this could be 'fixed' as its a software issue.
And yeah I'm sticking with Samsung, after I went through all those replacements, I finally got a decent one that has no issues (touch wood).
correct, as soon as the screen notices your finger it pixels the graphics ... argh! someone should disable that. it's 2011 and powerful enough!
and yes, chess patterns here too. even on less complex sites. never noticed that before in any preview-videos though. so again

thx for that explanation. for the pixel-thing I'll try to ask the developers here. at least it's android, so most things could possibly be done

[Q] Wallpapers look bad?

Hi there.
Wondering if it's just me, but do most wallpapers seem to look really bad? I just put some hi res wallpapers I use on my laptop on my phone, but they all look terrible when set and don't get why. I have very few wallpapers that actually look good on my phone.
edit: Thinking about it, will they only look good if they're the same resolution size as my screen?
If you are using gallery to set them , and your pictures are high res , gallery most likely is messing up. Try setting wallpaper with "QuickPic" from maket and let us know if its better.
I9100 screen resolution is 480*800, so a wallpaper at that resolution will certainly look better. But as it has 8 homescreens you can also use 960*800 wallpaper, which will be a scrollable one, besides you can put a HD wallpaper too, you just have resize it by dragging the orange lines to the corners perfectly.
Regards.
You must mean the color banding you see. The SGS2's stock firmware has a 16-bit screen driver. The guys from Cyanogen hinted at making it 32-bit, making the screen look beautiful, but it'll take a long while.
Somewhere I think Samsung downclocked everything there is on the SGS2. Because now it all of a sudden charges faster than before, it's faster. And I wouldn't look up if they overclocked it to 1.5 ghz. I bet they have something up their sleeves for the 16-bit screen.
When I read what I just typed, I actually think that won't happen.. Mehh

[Q] Lock Screen is rezising Wallpaper

I don't know if any one knows this but I found something out interesting when I was trying to make a high quality Lock screen wallpaper.
I noted that even though I made the rez of the JPG I was using for the lock screen 480X800, and even though in the selector (the place where your re-size the orange thing to fit) the JPG looked full quality. but after picking the full screen and looking at the Wallpaper on the lock screen it was blurry and obviously re-sized... So I though maybe It's resizing because that black Into bar at the top so I made the JPG 480x790 but it still re-sized it and it looks blurry. Then I started looking closer at some wallpapers I used and sure enough there being resides and loosing quality from the original.
Any one know a reason for this? or do they know a way to stop this from happening? or is it just something that they made a mistake on in the OS?
The phone displays the JPG perfect and full rez any way or app I use to view it but when it's saved as a Lock screen wallpaper it looks like crap...
I'm using stock Bell UGKG2 firmware with the attached image for my lockscreen and it looks as good as it does in the gallery.
You can't tell with a photo like that. It dosen't have enough detail. Here I'll show you try this one I just made.
Try it and you will see.
P.S. How do you do the "Attach Thumbnail" thing on this forum?
Yeah, I see what you mean with that one. There's almost horizontal lines going through it when set as lock screen. My guess is it's the compression that it uses when it "crops" the image. I know you're not cropping it, but it's still doing something with it and that has to be causing it. I highly doubt there's a way around this....
You could be right it might be compressing it too. It just looked like Re-sizing. Wonder if i compress the photo in photoshop before I put it on the phone, to a smaller file size....
[UPDATE]: nope.... just tried it still makes it look bad...
@OP try numerous times and try your best to stretch it all, its retarded for a phone like this needing to render the image at so crappy quality, but eventually you will get it to work, after like 10 tries ive got mine looking as good as the gallery, just try ur best to put the orange box fully on the border of the screen, if you fail try more times untill you get it right.

Just tried a bunch and no-go. I even found you can turn the phone sideways and you can easily get it to the outer edged but it still distorts the image.
Setting the wallpaper in Samsung's way is plain stupid. I hope they change this method in future firmwares. I can never stretch it to fit the whole screen from the first try and it's a pain in the @ss to go back and try again every time you fail.

[REQ] Remove darkening of screen with dropdown bar?

So here's something that's been on my mind ever since the GS3 got jellybean: the lag of the notification dropdown bar. to me, it's unbearable. it's laggier than stock android, but stock android became laggy with the jellybean release, too.
what do i believe is the culprit? the fact that google added in the shading of the screen behind the dropdown as it comes down. the ICS dropdown on both AOSP and touchwiz were flawless. on touchwiz, it was a perfect 60fps every single time. you could be doing a million things on the s3, flick down that dropdown, and it would come down in a perfect glorious 60fps every time.
then jellybean came. and the dropdown speed was cut in half. and it looks awful. it makes touchwiz feel even laggier/more bloated than it is.
so i'm wondering if any devs out there know of a way to tweak the notification bar so that dropping it down does NOT darken the screen behind it? just keeps it the same brightness, like ICS did. if so, i believe this will reduce the lagginess of the dropdown bar.
to test this theory yourself, do the following...slightly bring down the notification bar to where the screen is still bright, before the shading kicks in. now quickly move your thumb up and down really fast..notice how well the handle of the bar follows your finger? that's because it's 60fps. it looks smooth, rgiht?
now drop it down towards the bottom when it's almost fully down , and the screen is fully shaded behind it. do the same thing..move it up and down really fast with your thumb..notice how it lags behind your movement and just seems like the FPS is cut well over a half? i believe it's due to the shading. which may also be why when you flick it down quickly, it starts off smooth around the quick notifications and then just drops to a really choppy looking dropdown.
any takers?
hmm...nobody?
my phone has ZERO lag on the drop down at any given point. the transition is smooth the entire way down, so is the shading
I have exactly the same problem, cant find the culprit since about a year! on the nexus 5 all the ROMs run smooth,
but on my HTC one x+ and cm11 it is laggy as hell.
This is so annoying.
Hmm weird never experienced that
