unlock at&t x10a to use on another carrier? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im selling my at&t x10a to my friend on tmobile so i need to find where or how to unlock it thanks

Call At&t and be nice, tell them you are giving it to a friend, and they are on tmobile so you need to unlock it (act naive).
They will either give you the code, else= ask them when they can give yo the code, it depends on the month you bought it, i think they can unlock it after a certain period if time. They won't give you a date, but they will give you a general month that it will be unlocked in.
good luck

Also, do post result here. and ask away if you need help dealing with at&t

i allready know there answer i bought it refurbed from them like 3 months ago as part of my upgrade so im pretty dang sure they will say no

Telus GSM Hero Quad Band - What next?

Hi all,
I finally purchased the Telus Hero GSM Quad Band from Canada and its on its way to India thru FedEx. Bought the Hero without contract for 599$. Does this mean it is unlocked?
Since I have bought it now, what is my next job?
1. Unlock it by purchasing a unlock code.
2. Once unlocked, can I use it as it is? or it is mandatory to upgrade or downgrade the ROM?
3. Will post some more query when it comes to my mind.
Note: Did a search and it seems all threads were stopped answering from last November. So, started a new thread.
Expecting replies, since I do not want to keep Hero in hand as a dummy piece without knowing wat to do.
T i A
you will have to unlock it... then it will work when you pop a registered sim card in..(if the bands are correct) but im guessing you checked that already
Thnx for replying..now I am sure I have to unlock. but which website? Have waded in here and most vote goes to http://hero.unlock-now.com/sim-unlock-HTC-Hero/
should I get one from them?
What about my second query? Is it mandatory to downgrade/upgrade my ROM?
oh sorry forgot about that... im honestly not sure about which site to use to unlock sorry, id go with one that i know people have gotn there money back from though...
and no it is not mandatory to do anything except unlock to use your phone, only install a rom if you want to
thnx a bunch m8..I am relieved now. I also believe that most ppl here who have unlocked their hero has used the link I have posted. Some have got their money refunded too if it doesnt work. Waiting for my package to arrive to knw the IMEI and start unlocking. Fingers crossed.
Guys, if you trust some other site who provides unlock codes, please suggest.
T i A
As for websites to unlock, I did some searching back in November when I got my Telus Hero. I ended up using http://www.unlock-hero.com/, as it seemed to be the most popular at the time. I had no problems with them and had my unlock code within 20 minutes. It's also well priced.
thnx for the sugg m8..need more and finally need to decide on one.

[Q] Sim Unlock - Unable to find code

Hey Guys,
This summer I bought an unlocked Rogers X10a. Last month the charger stopped working so i shipped it in to Sony Ericsson to get fixed. They ended up sending me a replacement phone but of course its locked to Rogers. I tried buying the unlock code from Unlocking.com and a couple of other sites but they arent able to find it. I also contacted Sony Ericsson and they say I have to contact Rogers... I then spoke to Rogers but they can't help me since i dont have a rogers acct.
Anything else I can try?

im right up the way in sfv. call att for sure. they have to give the unlock code for the phone.
So At&t will have the code? the only reason i hadn't called them is because the phone is branded/locked to Rogers (canada), so i figured they wouldnt know it because i didn't buy the phone from them. but i'll it a shot.

If your phone is Rogers then at&t will not have/give you the code. Even if your phone is at&t branded, you have to wait 90 days before they give you the code. That is a big IF of course.
Why are you guys telling him to call at&t? that doesn't even make any sense :S Obviously they will just tell him to call rogers... Have some common sense.
Anyhow, I'm truly shocked that mobileincanada couldn't help you. They have unlocked any rogers x10 that I've been aware of. Ever considered maybe the esn is blacklisted, hence why no one can get the code? try htccode as lancez said, I have heard they are pretty good. unlocking.com was a huge scam, they never sent me a code and refused to give me my money back.. Would definitely not recommend them.

for those of you still having problems with unlocking your phone. maybe i should rephrase or pay attention to my own wording.... your "network provider" is by law required to give the unlock code. att phones, call att. rogers phones, call rogers. Whoever the network provider for your phone is, is the person you need to call. they dont give it willingly and will give a ration of trouble to you for even asking for it. but when this occurs, take it to the highest level of customer support that you can. ie, managers, be prepared to spend some time debating this with them and make sure you have a pack of cigs a few beers and lunch while your waiting. do not relent until you get the code. THEY HAVE TO GIVE IT BY LAW!!!!! Good Luck!!

[Q] Unlocking Bell Galaxy S2 4G

Hello everyone, so its finally the launch day for the SGS2! Rejoice!
I picked mine up this morning from Tbooth for 599.99 no contract. I plan on using the phone on telus though, so I need a sim-unlock.
I know there is a root sim unlock app, but does this work on the Bell version of the phone? What about paid unlock codes? Will http://cgi.ebay.ca/UNLOCK-CODE-UK-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S2-GALAXY-PRO-B7510-/260812982312?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cb9aa4828#ht_4291wt_1139 work for bell???
I guess I should just try the unlock app... a little hesitant. I realize there might already be an answer for this, but I am just looking for some help. Thank you.
Diito. I bought my Bell SGS2 outright this morning as well. Damn sweet phone. I'm looking to unlock and run on Telus as well.
What I thought they don't allow you to buy it off contract anymore...weird, I am from Toronto.
Anyways for unlocking I would recommend cellunlocker.net (I have used it a few times and it worked, fast and good pricing).

I just bought mine this morning non-contract and intend to use it on Telus as well. They just make you go month to month and pay for 1 month of service and you can cancel in 30 days essentially with no penalties.
I've been looking for a Bell root flash as well...bell has a ton of crap pre-installed that I definately don't dig.
Before all this unlock code ish
try the nv_data.bin thing!
Let me know how it goes

or simpler (an app)

Also you need to pay the activiation cost as well right?
That is not really worth it if you lived in Toronto/GTA, Ontario. I got one at Pacific Mall for 650, unbranded and unlocked UK version.
Orz!

I live in Calgary xD.
Phone was $625 after tax plus the $50 for the rate plan and $35 activation plus tax so not a huge difference. I'm also wondering if anyone knows the number of digits the unlock code for the GS2 should be.....I received a code from cellunlocker.net and due to poor instructions and myself being uncontrollably impatient to use the phone on telus put in only part of the code..or so i beleive.
They sent the code in this format NETWORK:=48684XXX;PROVIDER:=69599XXX;SUBNET:=85256XXX;DEFREEZE:=05193XXX.
I've used 2 attempts and REALLY want to know its right before i enter it again. I feel like a serious noob after this lol

Umm interesting, I only get one code from the many time I used.
Anyways if you have tried the network and provider one, then the codes are unlikely to be working.
What I will do is, either email them or call them and ask which one to use. If they say use the one that you already tried and didn't work, you should make a video of the process of you inputing the codes and if it didn't work and, just email them that video to get your money back.
But you gota be extra careful now, you only have one attempt before it freezes lol.
Now I wouldn't risk it if they told you the one to use and you already tried it which failed.
You should try to use the things that SS2006 suggested.
cellunlocker.net probably won't refund you the money if you do not have a video, but I can send you the cost since I recommended and it failed. It should be something like $8 right? lol
Good luck.
Edit: okay guys I found this thread and it confirmed to be working:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...ree-unlocking-solution-reportedly-not-working
Now you should start reading and learn stuff before you actually start flashing and doing things.
But you should note it will void your warranty if you start flashing and rooting, so you might want to think about that as well.
There is unlock available. under other thread. I unlocked usin theunlock.ca code. i didnt know about root/unlock when i paid for it. But it works.

I'm waiting on theunlock.ca to send me my codes too. Hopefully soon!
So did that software unlock or the sim unlock app work for anyone?
Or should I just use theunlock.ca ?
Same as you guys, I'll be picking mine up today and unlocking to use with Telus.

My only concern with rooting and unlocking it via the methods available here on XDA is that it seems to be a hit or miss with what kind of glitches you may end up with.
I'm hoping theunlock.ca will preserve all the original device settings, firmware, etc. and just allows me to use it on my Rogers account.
Rooting with XX OXA kernel worked.
Then I used this to use it on Telus.
Free of bleepin' charge.

BELL, rooted and unlock with ZS firmware.. up and running with TELUS..
I just subscribed to this web site to thank you A LOT! It works perfectly!!
theunlock.ca worked for me!
Did it with Helroz galaxy s unlock and it worked for me!!
I simply root the bell galaxy s2 by following:
w**.inspiredgeek.com/2011/04/29/breaking-samsung-galaxy-sii-s2-is-now-rooted-using-xwkdd-insecure-kernel-with-superoneclick
Then I have install the galaxy s unlock + busy tool
gone trough the 1-2-3 steps form the galaxy s unlcok tool
Then boot the phone with my Telus sim card, wait a few minutes to get hooked to the network and Voila!!
Note: once you flash the kernel with odin, you'll get a yellow triangle at the boot screen, I have simple flash back with the original kernel with odin after root grants to get rid of it, the original I use is I9100XWKDD_StockKernel.tar, too big to get attached
I have a bell S2 when i put a rogers sim i dont get a prompt to enter to the network control key. Im running 2.3.5
That means its already unlocked

Should I buy it?

Question for you guys. I have a chance to buy this phone (SGS2 ATT) for $370. Like new and comes with everything, the seller has had it for a month and said he just didn't like it. I've done research between both the Amaze and this phone and I like both. I'm currently on Simple mobile and will need to unlock it but I know I will only get EDGE. Is it worth getting this phone and trying it out, and if I don't like it just sell it? What do you guys think?
You can definitely try it out and if you don't like it, you can probably sell it for that price or higher is my guess.. You can unlock it by rooting the phone or buying the unlock code from eBay or something...
Yeah, this is a great phone and you should (or at least I would) give it a try. There's already a thread about unlocking the phone, its just an app you download then run something once.
you dont have to buy any code to unlock it..if you've been an AT&T customer for more than 90 days and are in good standing all you have to do is call customer service and tell them you're traveling over seas and you need the unlock code..they'll give it to you for free...you just need a sim card from another provider to be able to punch in the code..once the codes punched in..its good forever..put ur AT&T sim back in
i did this
^I thought that your phone have to be registered to AT&T for more than 90 days.. which this phone only been out for about 73 days.
Either way guys, I don't have AT&T. I'm on Simple Mobile (T-mobiles Brother network )

[Q] Android and Note noob, need advice

Hi everyone,
Sorry if this has already been answered, but I'm losing focus reading all the posts on the subjects. And I'm on a limited timeframe, so I would really appreciate if someone could help me or point me at information that I can use. I'm totally new to Android - replacing my iPhone.
I just got a Note from Rogers (Canada). I have 2 weeks to return if I'm not satisfied. I like Note but it's locked and I travel a lot, so I need to unlock it. There are too many options here and I'm getting confused:
1. Google gives me a lot of links to some shady websites that promise an unlock via some magic. Are these legit? Do they work? I couldn't find any definite answer.
2. Rooting/replacing ROMs/other crazy stuff. I'm ok with this as long as I know that I can unlock the device and it will stay unlocked. I would prefer to wait until ICS is released, but I need an unlock soon
So, my questions are:
1. Is going with Note from Rogers a good idea? Or should I spend money on an unlocked version from Europe?
2. Should I buy Roger's version outright? Expensive and I'm paying my 3 year term anyway Then they can unlock the phone for a fee ($50).
3. Can I use one of those online unlocking sites? Or will I just get ripped off and won't get the actual unlock?
4. Does the phone stay unlocked after an update (like to ICS) if online unlockers are used and work?
5. Seeing how different the versions of Note are is there a chance that the Canadian version (Roger's) will get much less attention in the area of third-party devs simply based on the number of users? Or it doesn't matter? I would really love to get into modding and having some real nice functionality/wigets/look-and-feel on the device.
Well, sorry for being so verbose. I would appreciate any help on this. My other choice would be to get a Galaxy Nexus instead, but I'd hate to give up this huge screen.
Thanks in advance! Hope this is not totally off-topic. If it is, I'm sorry for that.
cellunlocker.net is what most have been using, if record ur process of unlocking ur phone and send it to them they refund ur money i myself couldn't record it so i paid but well worth it 25 bucks and its pretty quick just check ur spam folder in mail if ur using gmail mine was there within two hours
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Thanks for the advice. Used the service, got the code in couple of hours and unlocked my phone! Happy as can be!
P.S. It cost me $7.99 to unlock Rogers Note.
