So In case you're just tuning in, My name's Zoidpilot. In a few past posts I've described how I got it in my head to paint my cover (it's a horror story), I've repainted the very same cover and added a how-to for my friends here to have a drink of the creative juices, and finally I dabbed a little in taking requests as a test to see how it would work out.

THA RULES:
1. Everyone that wants one must add me as a friend. That way I can keep track of orders.
2. I will use this thread as the place where you guys can make requests and we can PM back and forth and post results and pics for everyone to see (to be safe).

4. I have a base price for a set design (like the white n black I already did) and will charge accordingly to how complicated or intricate your design gets.
5. I would ask users to let me take and keep pictures of each one I do so I can catalog and show off to get more customers.

I think that would look good along with a tiny line or chrome dividing the blue and black. I'll draw it out and post a pic before I start so you can see. Tonight I'm working on 2 already so I'll have to start it tomorrow if you're really interested.

Some kind of paint I think you called pearl-something. Where it changes color depending on the angle you look at it. You said you were going to see about getting some of that paint!

Hmmm I found some awesome stuff! Seems like I gotta trick it into turning pearlescent though. See as an example: On cars to get the pearlescent effect (one color in one light, then another in a different angle or light) you have to set a base layer, then chose a metallic layer to give off the sheen, then a lighter layer of a different color on top of that to give the dual color effect. I'm gonna experiment with it when I get the can. I think it might come in monday so more than likely monday night I'll have some frankenstein thing to show off.

Yes it does.
In order to get to the keyboard and face buttons, you need to break a void seal/sticker that is on one of the screws.

well tampering with the phone does void the warranty and plus even if u mess up on ur phone here on xda thats software related...its easy to get the phone back to stock. and its easy to just lie and say some BS excuse.. but a keyboard mod clearly screams VOID

i like how the symbols are lime green and not red(or pinkish) liek the tmobile g1...
i was thinking about buying it when i saw it on ebay but then again i dont want to void warranty. and the whtie g1 is not actually white...its clear. so it may look gray on ur black g1.
and white battery cover has been known to chip.... i was going to buy the full white battery cover but i figured i should also order zagg invisible shield.

i jsut think the white g1 in uk looks better than the US. i hate how half the phone is silver for US. the whtite g1s that first came out in the states were quickly recalled for paint chipping issues. primarily on the keys and battery cover.

ACTUALLY the US g1 is half white for the screen part. and from the keyboard down its all silver.
the tmobile uk g1 is almost all white. the middle part is silver but the keyboard keys are white. tmobile uk g1 looks a lot better

dude that picture looks sooo fake. first of all whtie g2 trackball is not white. its more of a clearish but murky . like water with a hint of mil when its new. then it basically turns gray from use.
hey what kind of retail store did you go to get them to do it for you?

okay i know theres a link for trackballs. i am not an idiot. but the picture of the supposely having the trackball installed looks like a fake ass photo. first of all it looks like the trackball is lit. and trackballs dont come in white. esp not in that white. like i stated its comes in a color where water has a litttle bit of milk in it.

it is indeed kewl. i did this on my evo in blue. but then as themes kept coming out i was stuck with the blue leds cause i actually painted the bulbs and the themes and mods no longer matched .
I was thinking of doing it in red. Matches the cam and I tend to keep my themes really dark so it shouldn't clash, I hope!

The best way is to either use a deep red or use 2 layers of red vinyl...

I've been thinking of looking into the red adhesive tape they sell to cover up broken tail lights, what do you think? I want to make sure I do it right and not screw it up.

I ended up going with a silver cut down the brightness by 50% and it eliminated all light leakage so i'm happy

Actually I think mine came out pretty good I used colored electrical tape, though, instead of vinyl.

Just 1 layer. I was actually afraid the light wouldn't shine through properly because the tape looks opaque. But once you get it on it looks pretty nice. Also make sure you cover the LEDs evenly. The first time I did it one of them wasn't covered properly and it made my Menu button orange lol.

I have a couple questions.
I'm painted my phone,controller, console, computer case, etc. Are you using just raddle cans or an actual air brush?
Also, how can you stand the painted feeling!?. lol I like the look, but have never liked the feeling that a painted item gives in my hand.
Also, is that an oven I see the battery door in? I use a hair dryer, but, ...if so that is a much better idea! how did you get it hanging in there? doesn't your food taste funny now?

Ok in order:
Rattle cans... I think I have a good technique down I've been spraying since I was 12... I consider myself a graffiti artist of sorts... Specifically Krylon fusion. Bonds well.
I noticed theres a perfect amount of clear coat you have to get right so it doest feel painted. the case feel really like a fresh painted car.
You are correct, that is a Chefmate Toaster Oven. The picture is actually sideways it's really just laying down lol... I usually let it air out after a job and the food tastes fine after you get over the lead taste (just kidding).

Yeah you could make some good money here. I hate cell cases. They seem to bulky and the phones bye bye in a year or two later anyways so I enjoy the slim hands on feeling. Are you offering your services? I'm interested.

I think it may have to do with the flash on my phone too... 3DEVO's have been known to give off a bluish to greenish tinge when using flash in the dark...
Can someone give me an idea of the feasibility of creating a glow in the dark screen protector? It would have to be somewhat transparent ( doesn't have to be comepletely transparent) and unnoticable during the day but still glow in the dark.
If that isn't possible, could I buy a screen protector and paint it with transparent glow in the dark paint to get similar effects?
And then if none of those are possible, could someone tell me where o could find glow in the dark tissue paper or wax paper. (Yes, I'm going to try it)

Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of reading on an eInk device? Even worse, not only will it shine in your eyes as long as you're reading, it will also bring the contrast way down.
When i want to read in the dark i use my $.99 book light i got off ebay.. I would suggest looking into one. much easier.

Flex Lighting's LED film looks promising, but I can not find it on sale anywhere. (sorry I can not post links yet, so please google )
That looks like something they designed to be built into the reader and not added on. There are no visible wire or anything. The description said that its a film applied to the screen that is powered by a single led. Looks like they turned it on with a switch on the bottom of the reader. Very cool concept but i think its going to be something used on new models..as a built in function.
If you go to their website it shows an exploded view of a kindle with the film under the the bezel.. they have a very broad list of possible applications. and then ask you to connect them with your specific application. I would assume so they could quote you on a custom order base. So to me it looks as if they as gearing themselves to manufactures and not consumer addons.
Now is possible that you could get quotes from them for an order of 1 but then you would have to place it in the nook tap into the power of the nook and install an on/off switch.
saw flex light articles earlier which partially inspired the glow in the dark screen protector idea.
To me, it seemed like a built into the device kind of thing, like persichini is saying. But then again, I don't see why it would be so difficult for them to create an external film for people with old e-readers. Of course it could be too costly to design a individual screens for all the popular e-readers...
Hopefully Amazon and B&N don't take forever to implement flex light into their designs.

Definitely! I was looking around and found some websites that sell spray paint that is supposedly transparent in daylight. I'm going to order a can and a cheap screen protector to try it out. I'll let you know how it goes.

I've been thinking about adding a Joule Thief to my nook cover, but I haven't had a chance to pick up the parts. I don't like the clip-on lights as they don't work too well and are bulky, but I think I could add a joule thief in relatively easily.

1. Screen protector + glowing spray = fail.
Why? Learn physics.
1. How long do You think it will glow? Most of fluorescent materials shine for several minutes to an hour after being "charged" by exposing to very bright light.
2. How bright do You think it would be? The glow is very dim, so You just can see it, but You wont be able to illuminate anything with it.
3. Transparency. The thing was discussed here. To the low light conditions You are adding the lowered transparency of protective screen.
4. The glowing film as the light source is situated between the screen and your eyes. It actually obscures the vision of the text.
Maybe there are paints that have the above problems resolved but they will cost.
You are free to experiment. But IMHO You are going to get either useless thing or something as expensive as You reader itself.

I'm not really complaining but its friggen purple, they should stop advertising it as Amysthest Grey.
I know there trying not to get sued by Apple by using these colors but I think Asus needs to start playing in the other end of the Crayola box.

I knew it was more of a purplish color and really do not care for "Champagne" so I went with the lesser of two evils.

With people using different lighting and cameras and everyone looking at the pics on different monitors it's not going to help you much. Some people have posted that it's "definitely grey" even when it's in front of them. In other words, you need to see one.
To my eyes the one sat in front of me is definitely purple with a greyish hue. It really does depend on the light in the room at the time though.
I have a 64GB grey unit on pre-order - I hope my only problem is the idea that the color is a little girly. Did you ever think it may have a high Wife Acceptance Factor? Maybe it will attract chicks at the local Starbucks. I can't wait!

Haha , maybe , but from as far as i can tell the dudes wearing pink shirts at bars still look a bit suspect imo, i hope this isn't the case with my prime,lol....that said, who knew you could patent black and chrome.....way to go apple, can i call dibs on the color green? :-D

I just tried taking a picture. In every picture it looks grey. This is in florescent lighting in an office.
Now looking at with your eyes and not through a picture it looks purple-ish.
It definitely isn't grey and it isn't purple either. So Amethyst Grey would be the most accurate description.

That looks accurate to me. I tried taking some pictures comparing to an ipad, and it just came out grey. The purple is more visible as a direct normal reflection, any reflection at a wider angle seems more grey. It's a kind of gun-metal grey (but purple rather than blue)

I'd call it more of a dull purple with metallic highlights. How would that be for a sku??? TF201-32GB-DPwMH?
Not to quick double post but I just went to take a picture of it with my Nexus I didn't even bother. It looks completely stainless steel through the viewfinder, yet it looks like I have the Barney skin on it IRL.
BTW, a true gunmetal would have been brilliant
