[Q] Upgarde to froyo via phone itself - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

I got galaxy I5503 with eclair 2.1 and i still got a stock rom. I just want to upgrade my g5 to froyo 2.2 via my g5 itself not using any kind of help from pc,Is it possible..???
if yes than plz answer the query cuz im very eager to try new custom roms.

Stock rom?
Hey dude.I think you cant do that without using a PC,as you need at least to flash clockwork mod.And one more thing,as you are saying that you are on stock rom please visit the below link and backup your rom.

You need to get ClockWorkMod on your phone first. To do that, you need a pc anyway.....

you will need your pc... for official updates or unofficial ones.
for official froyo you will need KIES and download thru it... if you want to run CM7 or any other rom you will also need Odin to flash ClockworkMod Recovery, and then you can install any other G5 rom you want.

Here is a tutorial about how to install CWM v0.7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151396
And here is a tutorial about how to install CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0 with ANDROID 2.3.7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149110
I've been using these two tutorials for about since 1-2 months ago... I recommend installing both^

Now you can using Mobile Odin Pro v2..

Downgrade from GB to Froyo
Hi Mihir
Thx for the reply .
Is it possible to downgrade using the KDZ updater .
I have downloaded the stock roms kdz file .
Donot use kdz it is dangerous. Kdz should only be used as the last resort.
You have cm7 right? So you should have CWM recovery. A nand backup of the stock rom can be found in the general section (go back a few pages you'll find the thread). You can restore this via recovery. I think they are AmonRa backups though. If you fail to restore then you shall have to flash amonra recovery and then restore the backup.

[Q] from v10g to v20c with custom recovery

hi all!
ihave a new p500 device with stock rom v10g.
and i want to flash oficial v20c.
but i have no windows pc around, so i cant use kdz flasher or oficial lg updater. i have only linux station with adb installed.
will i able to do update v10g -> v20c with custom recovery (cwm or any other)?
I haven't heard of any way to do the official update without a Windows PC. Would love to hear otherwise, but at this point, there is no way to update the phone's baseband in a cross-platform way.

Nope, no way to do so. I would suggest going to someones house and asking to use their pc or even just going to a library lol

Try to install Virtualbox with usb extention, then under virtualbox install winxp.
I wouldn't recommend you to do so.
Updating your baseband and grabbing Gingerbread is not so good, you see, there's plenty of bugs in the Official Gingerbread rom.
If you are very interested in update your phone, then find a win7 computer...
I have Windows 7 in VirtualBox and tried to flash from it. But virtuall environment does not detect phone when it is in emergency mode. So it can't be flashed in this way.

Yes. Check out CM7 and void forever. Although these have certain bugs as mentioned on the first page, but they are great gb roms.

Well... You can flash and try a pretty much useless Gingerbread from CM7 and stuff, which uses v10 baseband (as Froyo)
If you want a really good full usable and bugless Gingerbread, in short answer, that doesn't exist yet.
Changing the baseband is just a mere procedure, but, sticking with Froyo is the best thing you can do, IF you want to have a full working phone.

please help...

how do i flash stock rom with odin ?
sorry .. but just dont wrily know...
Have a look at this thread to find a rom which matches your country/carrier. There is a guide to using Odin in that thread as well. If the download links don't work, write down the name of the stock rom you want to use & search for it on Samfirmware.com & download it there.
it says near my packege
"This is still BETA firmware so don't moan if everything doesn't work. It comes with old bootloader and is non-wipe"
is it still ok to go with it ??
Which package ?
XXLPJ
and agin thanks for helpin...
That's Ok I recommend you go back to stock Gingerbread, and then have another go at ICS. XXLPJ is stock ICS, you can use it, but as the warning says, it is a beta.
I'd use a GB stock rom for your country/carrier if were in your situation.
i dont understand
what is stock Gingerbread ??
an what is GB stock ??
my carrier is orange, israel ....
which package in the guide should i use ??
GB & GingerBread are one in the same.
Choose Israel Orange stock from from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14505996&postcount=3
Use ODIN to flash
READ this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13712988&postcount=1 post for flashing with ODIN it should give you the information YOU need.
ttttttttttthhhhhhhhaaaaaannnnkkk yyoouu alll !!!!!

o and i wanted to ask do i have to root each time i change a rom ?
do i have to root when i change karnel ?
and is changin karnel is with odin ?
realy thanks for evrything
Glad you got it sorted
When flashing other roms or kernels, follow the instructions for flashing that rom or kernel to the letter & you shouldn't have problems.
Most custom kernels (all ?) are rooted, so you don't have to root again after installing them. And most custom kernels are flashable via CWM, tho many do have Odin flashable versions. My advice would be to stick to CWM flashable versions as this is the simplest way to flash a rom or kernel.
thanks agin...
thats what is used before
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
and my cwm just disapred how do i know
if its an odin flashable virsion or a cwm virsion ?

Also download odin from there and cooper.ops
the run odin (as admin) and select the cooper.ops and one pakage
also select the rom and flash leve till you c pass
HOPE I HELPED
Imaginary ICS is based on 2.3.6 - He edited the build.prop file to make it say 4.0.4.
You cant flash a backup of a stock ROM via CWM 4/5 as the ROM uses the ext4 filesystem. You'll need to flash via ODIN (stock rom from sammobile.com) or convert filesystem back to rfs and use a backup.
ODIN

GB to ICS/JB

Hi everyone!!
I bought a S2. Installed villain Rom 3.0 with provided kernel. Now I want to install a custom ICS/JB rom.I searched on youtube and other XDA threads and found that I need to upgrade the bootloaders and other stuff and need to install ics through ODIN. Is that correct? or I should just download a custom ICS/JB and install it thru CWM as normal?
Yes, just install like normal. Or you can upgrade boot loader, phone, pda, csc. So do what you want.
Send form Galaxy S2. But I don't have it :-\

I suggest you leave the bootloader as it is if you dont know what you are doing
Just pick a rom and follow the install instructions.
