Interesting
Desperately waiting for the download. Would you please describe installation procedure etc ?

hoping for magldr!
eagerly waiting....but not as eager about putting crapp WinMo back on this phone... please make for magldr...almost forgot how bad WinMo is compared to android......ha but this looks pretty sweet!!
will this rom have support for flash at all??......and what about netflix?......those are some of my favorite features about android.
thanks for all your work isaiah!
hopefully a brand new thing and not a themed ubuntu
rolling rock and rolling papers.............

I also hope that it can run on SD since I'm running NAND android. Still waiting on the upload... or maybe you can make it a .torrent file? I can seed that

torrents!
yes it would be nice to see more torrents up here....
especially for the larger ones like this and the sense roms
currently on nexus V2.9 but missing the tablet tweaks
hyperdroid 2.1.0 shout out and
...........thumbs up for torrents

If you can not get it to work on magldr, then atleast can you have it work by booting into it with sd android like ubuntu 10.10. There could be a problem with magldr and linux kernels. No touchscreen, wifi , or data.

ok upload is up and here is torrent.
http://www.multiupload.com/Y1Q8FQWV32
to install just copy files to sd card

This is not Windows 7 lol
This is just Ubuntu? Idk, it just a linux build with Windows 7 themed lol
Can u make this stuff work on MAGLDR? Work means, Wifi, 3G, touchscreen works
btw, how do u make hardware button works and how do u make OpenOffice.Org work on ARM?
Thanks

Cant wait for Magldr support... because i have NAND android good work

Are you think about to add sound support in next updates? You can use the virtual alsa driver and give it a try!
Thx for your hard work.

i'll try my best with magldr and i just loaded the openoffice.org package from the software manager. i lucked out with the hardware buttons. and remember that there is no arm distribution of windows except windows ce & windows 8 (which isn't released yet) so i can't really port anything.
btw... did anyone try to boot from magldr?

I aborted Slackware on HTC HD2 already, i will just continuue develop HaRET version, i wasted lots of time in MAGLDR, in MAGLDR, nothing works(except the system), no wifi(Kernel Oops with modprobe), no 3g(i can't get RMNet work), no bluetooth(Kernel Oops with modprobe), no nouchscreen
btw, how do u make Hardware button work?(What means LUCK?), Xorg can recongize it, but it doesn't work in the system...
Thanks.

Usb host is not working or i cant get it on[got proper cable]...besides that it is great build.

Don't laugh please
Do I need anything special to run this? You say put on SD and go but does this mean go into MAGLDR and select load Android SD? Is it touch screen or do I need all of that usb stuff?

put the ubuntu folder to your SD card (which should have 3GB on it)
use file explorer to open ubuntu
tap on Haret and yes for permission

I think you have to have everything (or something) plugged in on boot up and it works fine. I tried to boot it and then plug things in and nothing happened.

That's so cool......I hope it could be worked on the Atom exec..
any video file can prove it ?
go to pda2u.ru and you can try it on your own...
i had some troubles with formatting sd to ext2 (i dont have linux and vista is very stupid for this...) but i am gonna try it again when there be some time
btw i think it will work on atom - it has same hw like hp but its still beta and a bit complicated (and forums are in azbuka :-D )
wow, this is going to be awsome. i hope it will be working better than tf3d on atom exec.
cool..but not work properly!!
Hi guys,I've try to port android on my hprw6828...works,but not properly...maybe cause a not specific driver, but this project is very cool...I hope soon to have Androids on pda

i´ve tried to translate the post from pda2u.ru forum so you can try on your own risk!
its for hp6815/6828
so
1.download AndroidOnP535.rar form this link
2.Format your SD to ext2 format and extract rootfs.tar.gz (its in AndroidOnP535.rar)
3.Rest of files in AndroidOnP535.rar copy to the root of your device (except zimage)
4.Download zimage from here and copy it also in root
5.insert sdcard with extracted rootfs.tar.gz and run haret-0.5.2.exe
so if your are luckier than me, you have beta working i´ve had some problems with formatting, i don´t have linux but i think that using linux there shouldn´t be any problem
one more time - YOU DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK
@kosmodisk
thanks for translate and simplfy it for us. google kind of confusing. looking at the step, i just relize that you don't actually flash your rom, is that correct? so i assume it is safe for the rom?
yes it boots from your miniSD after you run haret-0.5.2.exe from you file explorer... (after booting simply do softreset)
i´ve done it many times but as i said, it is better to extract *.gz archive using linux - my problem was that when booting - everything gone well, it also recognized my SD but it could not initialize anroid.sh file
maybe the reason is that i have kingston card for testing this - and as we know this brand has problem with booting (f.e. updating rom)
maybe you´ll be luckier (i´ll try it again later but final exam is quite soon )

will try it, maybe u can use gparted to do it
if you use partitioned sdcard you might have to change startup.txt
like this:
set CMDLINE "debug rootdelay=3 root=/dev/mmcblk0 init=/android.sh mem=64M"
to:
set CMDLINE "debug rootdelay=3 root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 init=/android.sh mem=64M"
i did it first with partitioned sd using partition manager, but haret didn´t recognize it...
wow.... its going on.... nice! Any new news yet...?
Android on Atom Exec
Dham it works, well actually it boots!!. I tried it with 02 atom exec. i did have to change the startup.txt to "mmcblk0p1" thing.
there were no networks, almost every apps crash, the screen kind of off to the right. touch screen works, i can slide to change the today, the louncher works. real cool.
@ariey
maybe you need to use ubuntu and extracted as root. thats what I did. when your not as root, extracting the rootfs.tar.gz gives error.
heres how, got it from the www

Ok i will explain it to you! you can give the money to da_gnarf so he can desepair with it! but the day after when when you switch on your phone you will find wp7 on your HD2 you may feel little pain in the ass ! dont worry about it! it was just da_gnarf passing by last night
Ubuntu & Winmo7 are still in alpha stages. Few things work. If they work, they crash easily.
Read the reviews of WINMO7 ... souunds like a bad Windows Vista: no apps from WINMO 6.5 will work. Limited hardware choices for manufacturers. Ultra-tight copyright border-guards everywhere. Won't work with latest Flash.
hey someone know how can i flash any windows vista 64b in my lovely hd2
ey that is just in question ?...
HOW TO: Put WP7 on your HD2
1) Download and flash a task29 ROM.
2) Download and flash SPL 2.02.0000
3) Download WP7 ROM from xda.cn, extract, rename it halechk.bin, place on SD card.
4) Flash it.
(I am not responsible if you actually do this )
Buy HD7 and take the screen from the HD7 and assemble it to fit perfectly on the HD2 using scissors, and don't forget to cut out the "Windows Phone" logo and solder it to the back of the HD2 case, you can also dual boot android using the same procedure with the Desire HD, and then just solder the logos on and off to change OSs.
Good luck mate!
EDIT:
BTW, I forgot to mention you don't have to change the screens if you're looking to dual boot, it seems the HD7 and the Desire HD use the same screens!, how convenient!
dude... i bricked my phone.. :O XD
no just kidding
but i think in a few months, we can be proud on our hd2's
EDIT:
LOL @ above

I just LOL'd all over myself!
Maybe I don't know the whole story, but from what I have read.....
Even if there was an available ROM, it's hardly even worth putting on your phone.
Why do people wish to make their phones do less.
I am not slagging on WP7, but I just don't see why all the fuss to load a locked up OS.
Wait 6 months or even a year till all the watchdogs in the sofware are nix'd and the XDA team has had a full go at working the bugs out.

Here is Kubuntu Mobile for the Gen 8 tablets. I decided to try to get it working because I really want a linux distro up and running on my tablet but gnome 2.0 just doesn't cut it on a touchscreen device. Well, I've been working at this for a while now ad what do I have to show for it? Almost nothing I have gotten some stuff working though so I thought I would share.
Before you even think about trying this out there are a few things you should keep in mind:
-It is in a very early stage of testing and will probably not really work at all
-I am not a developer (I'm a 15 year old kid from Canada, eh) so unless I receive some help, this project probably won't be able to go anywhere
-YOU MUST HAVE SDE INSTALLED!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is working:
-The touchscreen
-You can login now
What is not working:
-the touchscreen doesn't click properly
-virtual keyboard
-everything else
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
Before you even attmpt to install this realize that at teh moment you can't really use it at all seeing can't click anything
I REPEAT: YOU CANT CLICK ANYTHING!!!!!!!!
okay, now that you know that, here we go.
(1) Install the SDE (its easy to do, you can find guides elsewhere)
(2) Download my edited .img file from the download section below
(3) Press power button ad then quickly hold down the volume - button until you get the boot menu. Use the volume + and - to navigate the menu and select the recovery system menu (press the power button to select it) Then navigate to "update firmware" option and press the power button again, plug in your archos device into your computer and drag my rootfs.img file onto the root of your Archos device, replacing the one that is already there.
(4) Once the transfer completes, press the power button again. It will say update failed, ignore that.
(5) Reboot your device and hold down the volume - button again. This time select the developer edition entry and Kubuntu will boot!
(6) tap the screen in frustration because nothing will happen when you try to click.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get stuff working that would be awesome!
The Login screen don't have the "accessibility" options? because in there you have a buton to make a keyboard appear ^^
That would be really nice if that would work !!
Good luck, I'll be looking forward for your work.

No, thats whats so frustrating. Maybe there's a config file I could edit to make it appear?
Or maybe use another login screen (if it's possible ^^)
Hey I am 15 years old too!
I am a KDE lover, so I'll try it. I think we can install a virtual keyboard or edit the KDM (login manager) config so it autostart a virtual keyboard (the Matchbox keyboard is a good one)
If we get working something useful writing it to https://wiki.kubuntu.org/ARM/Archos101it will be good
A little more progress...
Okay, so I did what luisivan said and it worked! WHen you boot up the archos it now auto-logsin to a user called "user" and the password is "pass". But it seams with every succes there is are ten more prblems that have to be solved becasue no matter what you do you just can't click the ouse! The thouchscreen works but when you tap on something the mouse doesn't click. It gets stranger, if you wait a while the mouse does click, and then STAYS clicked forever! BWAAAAA.
OH well.
btw, I'm uploading the new rootfs.img file now so it will be up in a few hours (the upload speeds on my ISP sucks)
Thanks for your help
Upload complete!
The upload is FINALLY finished. Feel free to download it and try it out. Remember, Almost nothing works. If you have some great ideas on how to get stuff working (like the click function in n the touch screen or wifi although I haven't tested if wifi works or not yet) Just let me know!

Our Gen8 Devices's Touchscreens are connected over a kind of "usb-host" i think
Maybe you should look in the Archos (free) Kernel Source how the Touchscreen is connected (in Software section)

Bootanimation or splash1 (myTouch screen)? This is why i dont like to do a blind port....... But i will try my best.

Splash 1, mytouch screen! boot loops like crazy! Is there an update coming soon, or should I just flash another rom for the time being?
Hopefully this will end up booting

Oh wow, I hope this gets some traction!
In what i have noticed is that when ever i use your boot.img from this rom it puts my phone into an infinite loop of splash screen, but when i my version of the dump, which i use SalsaSlide Beta 1.0's boot.img, my phone starts up but it reboots not like yours which boots indefinitely but boots in to recovery... its done it with ChaChaSlide's boot.img and the latest SalsaSense's boot.img... idk what it might be
so just to confirm, its not working and has a boot loop issue?
I read around the forums and some say it maybe a kernel issue which doesnt let the phone boot becuase it doesnt load anything... I would also backup the kernel theroy since the kernel is stored in the boot.img and when i change that i get different results

Hmm, i need to look into this, i only have internet for about 6 hrs a day, but i had the same problem with the Incredible...Ill try to figure it out. and again, its a blind port, im not giving ANY promises. Im renaming the thread to [DEV]
Won't work fellas take a look at the build.prop this thing is built for v7 processors. If I'm not mistaken you'll have the v6 processor (same as us in the heroc/Eris/herogsm forums) so it won't ever work, same reason miui doesn't work for us.

^^ he's right we are arm6
Yes it's armv6 but with VFP support, unlike HTC Hero. Thus our processor is much more powerful than Hero's.

Windows USER`S PLEASE READ THIS! we need your help

Hello, first of all please do apologize for my English (i´m portuguese) , and an actual yogabook android version user.
We (the android users ) are having some hard times trying to boot windows on our tablet (it makes sense because it´s the same machine) therefore, what we need right now, is for someone who could acess his bios (there´s a thread here explainning the process, its actually quite simple) and, tell us how the windows bios is configurated, to allow us do a "copy/paste" of the configuration.
would you guys be so kind and help us out? :crying:

I think its a very different bios on the windows version. Probably accessible upon keypress on boot but very different from android one.

i really hope you´re wrong lol let´s wait and see if anyone could help us out with this, because i can´t belive tha same hardware can only boot one OS
Dont think it's accessible on Keypress. That hasn't been a thing since Win7, I believe. Exactly what settings are you looking for? I could probably just share some pictures of mine, if thats easier.

Many thanks !
I just checked with mine, the bios is just completely different !
Do you have an option with ACPI enabled or disabled ?
That's what most of android users have after booting windows 10 on usb key.

ACPI is branded in the bios and on by default as Windows has it under control.
Power, Device, Processor-States etc... all handled by Windows and not like older (very old) bios which had APM
That's why you need another bios if you ever want to dualboot.
I'm pretty sure you can download the BIOS from Lenovo. I couldnt help you install it from Android though. Seems like a very easy way to a bricked device.

Well... There is a tool from lenovo site, but it seems to update only if you already have windows 10 (exe file).
Vicious circle !

You got it. Quite easy to brick it.
I am pretty sure Lenovo burned the BIOS in an EEPROM. Differently between Windows and Android models. Updates are just flashed in a CMOS, well rather NVRAM nowdays. That's why Windows and Android models have completely different approaches when it comes to update the BIOS. I doubt there will ever be a way to flash (supposed) "Windows" settings into a "Android" device, as the EEPROM was initially fixed differently, expecting specific store instructions for the NVRAM depending the OS model.
