Trouble with icons on homescreen - HTC EVO 3D

Ok so I have a very annoying problem with my evo. Everytime I restart the phone, the icon to any app that I have on my homescreen that is also saved on the sd card does not show up once my phone has restarted. In place of the icon is a standard android icon that takes me to the market when touched. I know that a simple fix is simply just to change the scene then change it back again to make the icons reappear, but it's such a hassle to have to do it everytime. Does anyone else have this problem, and does anyone know how to prevent it from happening so I dont always have to change the scene every time?

Put the apps back on the phone.

This is a gingerbread problem and I don't know why google hasn't done anything about it. It worked fine on Froyo on the 0g evo but as soon as gingerbread came out it appeared. The same thing happens if you use a widget for an app that you've moved to the SD card. After a reboot the widget will be disabled. Hopefully google will fix some day. It seems to be a problem with the sd card not being recognized before the apps and widgets are loaded on the homescreen. Maybe a change in the bootup sequence would help where the sd card is recognized before the home screen is rendered.

Icons change after SDcard move

Hi, I moved angry birds to my SD card via the phone' make more room wizard to save memory, however the icon now shows Android Market for Angry Birds. Is there a way to get the icon back to Angry Birds?
Thanks
Fixed, remove the widget , then put it back and its back
See if it stays after a reboot. I'm having the issue with all apps moved to SD not keeping the icons on the today screen. They are still in the app drawer. They still work but they are still the generic androids.
Just remove the icon and add it again, it should stick this time
****EDIT, yes, I rebooted and the icon was changed to generic again**** Hope they fix this issue, not a big issue, however it bugs
I see. Okay it's a bug. I did notice when I moved an app back, it reloaded everything.
I found a workaround. Change the scene and change back. Presto! Icons reload!

Google + Icon issue

I have two apps Google+ and Dolphin Browser which have both gone to a generic app icon for some reason on my home screen. Have any of you experienced this? If so any known cause and fix?
If you have them installed on the SD card move them to the phone then restart, that should fix it.
this happens because they are on the sd.
if you want to keep them on sd, then when you reboot just change your skin and it will fix it. then you can change it back
Get fast boot from the market lot easier that changing skins

[Q] Using the notification bar clears the default home launcher

Ok guys here is a weird one..
My mother just got an HTC Flyer, and it is still stock / not-rooted. I did an OTA update as soon as the Flyer was set up and ready to go. Its running Gingerbread 2.3.4 and the build is now 2.23.405.4 CL104635. I installed LauncherPro for her as Sense is a bit laggy, and she recently started having a problem where the tablet keeps forgetting its default home launcher.
I narrowed the problem down and basically this is what happens. No matter which launcher is set as default, as soon as you pull down the notification bar all default launcher settings are cleared. You can tick the 'use by default' box again, and switch between and use apps to your hearts content, and pressing home will bring you back to your homescreen, but as soon as you pull the notification bar down, pressing home asks you which launcher to use.
Obviously the first thing I did was go to settings > applications > manage applications and clear defaults for either HTC Sense launcher, or LauncherPro, neither of which work. I've tried apps like homesmack, homeswitcher and cleardefault, none of which make any difference.
This is a bizzare problem, and again I say, it is easily reproduced by simply pulling down the notification bar
Any ideas?
Very wierd. I use ADW EX Launcher on my Flyer and have no such problems but I see no reason that other launchers should not behave properly.
I've tried various other launchers, and even did a factory reset, but the problem is still there. When trying any launcher besides HTC Sense, the default home is instantly forgotten when the notification bar is pulled down, and I am forced to choose between the two launchers EVERY TIME. 'Use by default' is useless.
I'd like to avoid rooting for now for the warranty, but I don't see any other option!
This is driving me insane! Come on guys, any suggestions?
my wife's incredible just started doing this exact same thing last night. I have no idea what caused it, and no idea how to fix it. Making me absolutely crazy. Going to try and backup her stuff and factory reset it.....it worked fine until yesterday.
have you tried Home Switcher app or similar?

Easy solution... unlock the bootloader and put Honeycomb on it, as per globatron's instructional thread. It's pretty straightfoward.
Lol, not on an incredible.

Totally missed that part . Wasn't expecting people to talk about problems with the Incredible in the Flyer forums haha
Thank goodness, I'm not crazy. I have the exact same problem and it was (is) driving me nuts, but I couldn't figure out that pulling down the notification bar was the event caused this.
It's rather odd, because I'd been running Go Launcher EX for a month or two without any problems, then this prompt started happening a week or two ago. I cleared launcher defaults, reset them, etc. So I decided to try ADW. Still: same problem. Uninstalled Go Launcher EX, still the same problem (with ADW still installed).
I have a stock HTC Sensation running Sense 3.0 on Android 2.3.4. I don't remember seeing any updates come down for Sense or Android when the problem started, but perhaps I don't recall something. I wonder if a recent update to Launcher Pro caused the issue that stuck around even after being uninstalled? I don't really want to do a factory reset to try getting a clean machine that never Go Launcher installed.
I'm still frustrated by this problem which I haven't been able to solve. I know Sense adds things to the notfication bar like the "Quick Settings" tab. There must be some part of Sense that is activated when the bar displays causing the issue on the next press of the home key.
If any of you have found a solution, please post!
Thanks
I am having the same issue. Running stock Android 2.3.4 on my HTC Rezound. Also on my HTC Thunderbolt. Both when running CyanogenMod and HTC Sense. Also my mother-in-law has an EVO 4G running CyanogenMod doing the same thing. Its frustrating and I have tried eeverything but call HTC themselves. Its frankly starting to piss me off.
If anyone finds a solution, please let us know.
I have the same issue with HTC EVO 3D. Pulling down the Notification bar or Long Press the Home button would reset the Default launcher. I also found out that if I take out my sd card, it doesn't happen any more but I couldn't live without the sd card.
I have the same problem. But only opening notification bar clears default launcher on my HTC Evo 3D (not long home button press). I don't have my Evo rooted because of warranty and too early state of alternative ROMs. Removing SD card didn't help in my case.
Please help, it makes me crazy. I tried factory reset but this problem is now back after few weeks and after installing my favorite 150 applications only into internal memory. So avoiding SD card didn't help and I also don't know the reason.

[Q] Tray Icon Issue please help

This is driving me totally nuts I have been trying for ages to figure this out and can't get it.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Totaly stock unrooted Android 2.3.5
My home screen had 4 icons at the bottom for quick launch.
Phone contacts messaging applications
Contacts is redundant since you can access that through the phone icon as well and I never use text messages so I swapped 2 of them for other apps so now the home screen is like this:
Phone Gmail Whatspp Applications
This is fine right up until I restart the phone
When it restarts all 4 are there until is "scans usb storage" at which point the gmail icon disappears
I have to manualy change my application tray from list back to grid view and then edit to put the icon back and then put it back in list view
The icon will then stay until the next restart
As I say this is driving me up the wall
Things I have tried:
Full factory reset and reconfigure the phone
Reboot of phone with tray in both list and grid mode
Clear data from twLauncher and set everything back up again
With and without external SD card installed in phone
No matter what I do as soon as I reboot that icon is gone and it always appears to be gmail.
And please I don't want people telling me to install a different launcher or to root the phone. I don't want it rooted and I tried the other launchers and don't like them
Dude - Sorry i dont have advice for you..but im sitting with something similiar..
Non-rooted phone..but when I reboot phone, the bottom icons (tray), get replaced by my last downloaded apps..for example, skype, flashlight and astro file manager...
After the phone has finished scanning they all return back to normal.
Im guessing this is some random bug, as I also tried clearing data from TWLAUNCHER and within time, after downloading some more apps, the same problem occurs.
Cheers

[Q] App shortcut keeps removing itself from folders...

Hey! I have Grand Theft Auto III installed to my SD card as it seems to not crash as often and alleviates space on my internal storage. I store the shortcut for it in a folder on both my home page and app drawer called Games. Every time I restart the phone, the shortcut removes itself from the folder on my home page and puts itself outside of the same folder on my app drawer. Does anyone know why this happens, and if there's something I can do to rectify it? It's only a minor annoyance, but would be nice if I didn't have to keep putting it back in the folders every time I reboot the phone. I have since moved it back to internal storage, and it's resolved the problem, however, I would prefer it to be on my external SD!
Any help would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks
James
I had the exact same problem, but it was Go Launcher EX who was guilty of that. This still happens to me, so i just take the folders that are created in the app drawer and drag them to home screen. Now it doesn't happen.
I say again, don't add folder by Menu button>Add>Folder instead go to appdrawer (in your case it will show folders and not apps) drag one of the folder to homscreen and voila!
Maybe this isn't the solution to your problem but as i interpreted it this should be the solution. It worked for me atleast
Regards.
