[Q] Timescape & music player widget on other launchers - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have Wolfbreak's GB installed on my x10. Is it possible to make the timescape and music player widgets available to other launchers as well? I can only see these widgets on SE's ARC launcher, but not on other launchers. Really love these new widgets from SE. Thanks in advance

Any developers out there care to comment? I did a little search around this forum and found that people have asked this question before, but have yet to receive an answer. I'm not looking for a solution now, just wondering if its possible. Thanks.

Hi,
Im in the same boat as you. I want to use these widget on other launchers but can only see in Sony Launcher.
Anyone know how to add the widget on other launchers?
Thanks

I know that it's a missing when some widgets can't be use on another launcher but I think this problem caused by widgets' settings. Some widgets are set up just to run with Stock launcher only.

it doesnt work like that ..i think we need to modify the framework accordingly for installing the widgets on other launchers ...
Hope its right
thnk me if it helped

Well, is there any other widgets/apps that will provide similar functionality?
Also I think many ppl would appreasiate it if someone would modify the timescape widget to work with other launchers, I do think SE is onto something there, one glance and I'm up to date...
;-)
Thanks

SE lock their widgets so they cannot be installed on any other launcher, it really annoys me becuase the stock launcher is useless (Not being able to even add more homescreens is a joke)
I would like to know if anone is actively working on this problem as quite a few people are asking about it.
Now that timescape is becoming more user friendly...with more extensions for more content....I would really like to have the widget but I refuse to use the poor excuse of the stock launcher.
This would be a good project to work on....lets see if anyone is listening

I dedicated some time previously to working on it to no avail. I BELIEVE its coded in the smali code, but if its forced to run on other launchers it doesn't work properly:
Timescape can't scroll [well can scroll but you can't see] and MIGHT take you to the wrong message/facebookthing/w.e. and only refreshes when you reboot...
Music player the little icon thing [thumbnail] does not change and the thing bar does not actively move [the time bar] and the buttons are glitchy
you name it, errors come. I gave up :L

Same issue bro. I use ADW Launcher EX... I want those features...

Would be great to have the freedom of using timescape on other launchers. the only reason i still have the stock launcher is because timescape and the music widget only work on it I guess it was a trap that was well thought of

I think pheel is the only one to have made some advancement on this project (that too, on my request ) but it faded out 2-3 months back. Hope with the senior devs (yes, greg, bring 'em on!) we can see some progress!!

[Q] CyanogenMod7 - GingerBread NIGHTLY widget issue

I flashed to the rom found on this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944430
... a couple hours ago and love it, the customizations are awesome and I have been so caught up in the new features that i haven't even re-downloaded my apps yet. Great rom so far but i have a small problem.
I cannot use downloaded widgets or HTC widgets, i don't know if its the LauncherPro app or not because i haven't checked because I am unsure if these roms require home replacements to run properly (thats another question of mine, can I turn off ADW or Launcher Pro while running this rom?) but if anyone knows how to use downloaded widgets with this rom i would appreciate it if you could let me know.
Thanks in Advance
I found out that widgets only work if they are installed on internal memory, so if you download widgets or apps that give widgets you must leave them or move them to internal memory or else the widgets will not show up in the home replacement program.

HTC widgets are for Sense based ROMs. They will not work on CM Roms. Widgets that are found in the market can be installed and used though. As far as LauncherPro or ADW... it's all a matter of what works best for you. I personally use ADW EX. Others love LauncherPro. Some also like Go Launcher and Zeam Launcher is also getting more popular from what I hear. Any of those can be installed from the Market and is you go with LauncherPro Plus it has Sense-like widgets that come with it. You have to purchase the plaus version for those widgets though.
I have a lot of free apps and need to go in and "pro" all of them, i used adw for a while and one thing i miss is the uninstall option when you long press an app on the homescreen but launcher pro came native with this rom so im going to leave it and just buy the pro version i think.
I mentioned that this rom does not support HTC widgets because of launcher pro always running, i found a fix. Beautiful widgets is one way, it is basically a HTC widget replacement but i just found a post on this site about widgets too that was extremely helpful in getting the widgets i want, here it is.

[Q] How to remove a widget from the widget list?

Hi there
i'd like to know how to remove a single widget from the widget list
the fact is that i need its app, but it has soooo many widgets and i only need one of them
how can i remove the only ones that i don't need?
ps i know that many apps allow to disable the widgets that you don't want, but unfortunately this isn't the case
I don't know of a way to remove a widget, without removing the associated app. There may be an app to do it somewhere, but it's certainly not a standard thing.
Here's an alternative though...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780828
It groups widgets together, making the widget list a lot tidier.
well at least that's something
thank you!

from that thread:
"* Doesn't work with HTC-Sense but should work with all "Stock-Based" Launchers like Launcher PRO, ADW, Zeam etc. pp."
i can sense incompatibility with the touchwiz XD
i will prolly try it later anyway and see what happens

Very good point - I use Go Launcher and it works fine with that. I just tried it with TouchWiz and it doesn't work.
aww such a shame
thanks so much for testing it!!
i'll keep that in mind in case i change the launcher someday
You don't mention what the name of the apk is ?
autostarts can remove widgets from list (Widget Updating)
Another thing you could always do (if it's not a system app) would be to move the app to the SD card. (I never tried that yet with my SGS2 since I'm still very far from filling the internal app spare, but I'm sure it will work.)
It's easy, quick and doesn't requires any additional software on the phone.

You could try the experia arc launcher, follow the instruction carefully, it's a great launcher, quick and you can have multiple widgets and fully customizable homescreens!! Not sure about the size of the icons in the drawe3r, they seem to be the same size as the ones you get in most launchers. Give it a try!!

The arc launcher is one fot he best launchers i've used for simplicity, downside is that it has no landscape support which is the only thing that lets it down

Awesome, thank you.
Also, have you had a problem with your phone not remebering the sort by alphabeticaly?
I set it to the other options and it will use them options until i change it.
But when i do it by "Alphabetical" it automatically changes back after i've launched something.
I havent had that problem yet, alhough the problem I did have was that the launcher would forget everything whenever I restarted the phone!!
I realised I had been installing the app instead of moving it to the correct folder with root explorer and setting the permissions correctly.
just follow the steps they set properly (they are on the first post I think) and you will have no problem.
i personally think the "xperia active" launcher is better than the Arc launcher. u can have 16 shortcuts in the 4 corners of the Homescreen. multiple widgets, and a very nice iteration from the ARC launcher, that is, when u pinch to get the "widgets overview" mode, the widgets are not "stable" but are "floating" in the screen. VERY nice tweak. try the active launcher.
In my experience, the xperia active launcher seems to position widgets a little to the right in landscape mode (makes their right ends go off the screen.)

[Q] QQ Launcher Lockscreen

First I want to say that I know nothing about programming in android etc.
Today I downloaded the QQ launcher and i fell in love with it's lockscreen,
than surprisingly i discovered that i can use it in ADW! (If QQ launcher is on),
lockscreen and launcher are in two processes, that's why it works i guess, again, this might me not that surprising to you advanced users, but is to me ;p
So my question is, can the lockscreen be separated from the launcher and made into .apk ??
If i was possible, that can someone do that!?
bump.
i'd like to know the same thing as well.
Yea me too looking for this
Any developer ready to take up the task please
Sorry,bump
The qq lockscreen is just so clean, intuitive, useful, and elegant vs those ugly paid for or ad cluttered ones out there
Btw it runs as a service separate from the launcher

Another bump. This lockscreen is awesome.
I agree. That charging animation is just beautiful! Although I'm stuck to GO Launcher EX and see no alternative as good, paid or free, I really like the QQ Lockscreen. Although most of it is exactly like the GO Locker app, that charging animation is just mint! I'd love to have that on WidgetLocker as a widget/theme on the lines of the ICS theme! A combination of that charge animation and the ICS lockscreen!
Someone please? I would absolutely make a donation for it!

Xperia Ray default theme and app drawer

Hello all.
I recently bought Xperia Ray. So far I feel good about my purchase, but there is a minor problem, for which I cant find a solution.
I really like the looks and performance of Ray's default theme (its called Timescape if I Googled ir right). The problem is, that Timescape's appdrawer dont have tabs on top of it (I mean the menu with 3 options - All, Recent, Running). is it possible to add this menu to the default theme's appdrawer?
use go launcher instead
I am using GO Launcher at the moment.
Anyway, I kinda prefer the default one, so, if there is any chance of making default appdrawer to show thos tabs, i would really appreaciate any help.
EDIT: The main reason, why I like Timescape, is because of the widgets - music playing widget and Pic&Video preview widget. If I use GO Launcher, I must use additional widgets like Winamp, which, tbh, I dont like.
AFAIK, that would require a lot of developer skills to add those tabs to default launcher
and its not called timescape, its called sony ericsson home
timescape is just an application from SE
I see. Thanks for the answer, will try to tweak GO Launcher so I actually start to like it...
