Qualcomm and games (next generation chip) - HTC EVO 3D

So while we got the latest duel core from Qualcomm, and snapdragon 1.2Ghz is looks like they working in a new one already
See here : http://androidandme.com/2011/08/new...ming-consoles-will-be-replaced-by-snapdragon/
Man I can't wait to see some games taking the full advantage of the duel cores phones yet, but and hopefully by year ends we have more nice games, i think tech is moving really fast on smartphones now, I hope batteries can't keep up with these processors as well, what you guys think?

I believe that there's already better, especially the new Samsung galaxy 2 s. Apperrntly its CPU and gpu blow qualcomm. But ours is still a strong chip. I know nvidia is working on a better tegra chip which will feature a quad core CPU and a better gpu. I can't wait for that one

Basically positive this phone is substantially faster then a tegra2. This and exynos are close as hell. Comes down to the apps/benches themselves.
And NVIDIAs quad core chip, kal el or something, is being binned as a tablet part. Stop trolling.

That would be false. Straight from Nvidia:
“Project Kal-El-powered tablets are coming this Fall, and phones around the CES 2012 timeframe.”
Unless they've changed something, we should see phones with quad-core chips not only from Nvidia, but other manufacturers as well in 2012. Supposedly the new Nexus will have a quad core chip though, so we'll see what actually happens with that at the end of this year. From what the different news articles earlier this year have said, the first quad-core tablet should be hitting the shelves sometime this month.

Anyway, even the next-generation cpu-gpu mobile combos won't top consoles. Plus no one will be taking advantage of them for a long time. Look at all the crap android games out, very few push limits on any high end phone.

Really? So I'm going to give up playing my games on my 55" LED in full 1080p & 5.1 DD for a 4.3" screen? Yeah, I see that happening.....

I love having all the power under the.hoods of the new gen of phones..but I think Android should put more effort into its software than the hardware..why drop quad core phones when dual core isn't fully optimized? Our dual cores arnt even breaking a sweat with what we use it for ..if.there is lag or glitches It's most definitely not hardware related..the software needs to catch up..and with the pace of technology right now I don't know if that will happen

What ever happened to that game that qualcomm was bragging about that takes full advantage of its dual core. Some rpg game. That was one reason i wanted qualcomm and also prior to releasing evo 3d the qualcomm spec surpassed all the others on paper Although not really so true now.

skyrocket scoring higher then note on quadrant

I miss my note I am using my skyrocket untill I get another I recently upgraded to ics and have been getting at least a 3800 where as my brother who had a note is running ics gets no higher then 3200 just wondering is the skyrocket getting a higher score
It's all about real life use. I was on the t989 before and no complaints since the switch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The note has almost twice the resolution as the skyrocket with the same chipset. So the note takes more processing power to push such a big screen its like 800x480 compared to 1280x800 on the note...
QUADRANT IS CRAP!
You can run it a million times and get a different number every time.
plus it's easily effed with, i can build you a ROM that will score OVER 9000!!! In quadrant, it'll also run outside of quadrant like absolute and complete garbage.
Stop number obsessing and get a feel for REAL WORLD PERFORMANCE cause that is all that matters.
That is strange. my quadrant score seems better on ICS:

Same chipset. Snapdragon s3 in both device. One has to power a 1280x800 resolution and the other 800x400. Its obvious its gonna have a higher quadrant score. But like everyone else says...quadrants are just numbers and not noticeable in real life usage. The snapdragons are not known for good quadrant scores. Yet the devices run great. Quadrants are similar to specs on a phone...not higher the better.

Quadrant isn't a great app to gauge performance. But, out of curiosity, I ran it and got a score of 3658. I'm perfectly happy with this score, because I don't really do anything intensive with my Note. Try not to let a quadrant score dictate the power of your Note. It's plenty powerful, and should easily handle anything you throw at it.

What will it take for people with Samsung phones to stop checking their performance with quadrant tests? They were never designed for Samsung phones. If ur phone is not performing good u will know it. If u need a quadrant test to prove to urself these phones are good u need a phone named after a fruit.

How long will the note last

My question is how long will the galaxy note last like years wise since its a dual core s3 and quad cores are comming out will the dual core phones be diminished like the single core ones have been
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
There is Still no quad core that's compatible with AT&T's lte.
The North American version of the htc one x has a dual core for that very reason.
No device in this market can "last" years if you wanna be on the bleeding edge. And as the price drops for the note others who wouldn't spend 300 bones on a brand new device will be attracted to this beastly screen imo
Do you think the note will actually become like cheap I bought mine for 320 with tax and I'm wondering like the infuse started at 200 and when down to pretty much free will that eventually happen to the note

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
If you are asking " How long will it lead the pack? " The answer is until something better comes along that has better specs and the same or bigger screen size... considering the pace of technology it wont be long.
IF you are asking " How long will the Note last Physically? " .. the answer is YEARS .... that is IF you have an i717. There are less moving parts on the i717 than the international Note .. it has that main button that is used alot. " Anything that moves .... eventually dies " . The parts that will wear are the head phone Jack, power button, volume rocker, and the USB port.
Hope this helps

SGS2: Cool.. dual core... smaller screen.. No way I go smaller screen. PASS
HTC Inspire: HTC Phone? Sense? LOL.. PASS
HTC Vivid: See above
SGS2 Skyrocket: Neat. Interesting. Not much better than my hyper modded infuse. Note coming out soon.. PASS

Quad core phones are overrated currently and not ready for Prime time, used the right way at least. Its all marketing hype & a battery killer. Look at the HTC ONE X. The new S4 processor is just as fast as the Tegra 3 model if not faster in some situations. The Tegra 3 HTC one X will be outdated before any application can take advantage of the quad core in the phone.
As far as the dual core vs quad core One X situation Snapdragon S4 IS the faster SoC ... Anandtech already posted benchmark results showing proof ... Tegra outperforms it only in multi threaded tests, which are a rare in a smartphone ...

This one will be relevant for awhile, particularly if mfrs are slow to come up with a successor. Can anyone with a Note imagine going back to a device with lower screen resolution...

SGS3 officially revealed. Your thoughts?

I think the new processor will be amazing but I can't say that I'm liking the rounded edges. This thing is borderline pebble-shaped.
It will be interesting to see where they take the design to with the Note 2, to say the least

I dont like the rounded edges either. The only thing i like about the phone is the new processor. And they finally add the light notification, which is good. Besides those two things, Im not impressed. Everything else is just software update, which the note will receive sooner or later. I will stick with the note for a while.
My curiosity is how long it'll take for the Dev's to pull the good parts out of the GSIII's ROM and port them to the Note...
I like the bigger screen, but wouldn't trade my note for it.
Dislike the round edges
Like the bigger battery
Like the gorilla glass 2
Dislike that the ram didn't change
Dislike that the screen didn't change much other then the size
Like the new smart stay
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Yeah, Im definitely curious about how SMART it's going to be, but like many have said before - the SGS3 is mostly software, which will eventually come to the note at some point. And if S-pen functionality can be kept too, then the Note with SGS3 SW will be all we'll need tilll the note 2 comes out.
I had been eagerly anticipating a device that would be worth switching to from the note because (lets be honest) who doesn't love a new phone? But I can honestly say that this one wont do it for me. I guess if there was a way to have quad core and lte living together then I might consider it but I just love the note so much. I know it sounds crazy but I just don't see them coming out with anything (other than maybe the note 2) that would be worth switching to from my current note. This is sad because I love getting new phones so I guess it bittersweet for me.

i think the US version of the S3 won't have a exynos processor......don't think its compatible with LTE modems........they may end up using the snapdragon 4core processor instead due the LTE compatibility
I agree, this phone isn't a game changer by any stretch of the imagination. It's basically the HTC one with a removable battery and MicroSD port. It is pretty, but so is my note. The quad core isn't that impressive anymore because of this:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/tsmc-ramps-28nm-arm-cortex-a9-chip-to-3-1ghz/
imagine a phone that can process that freaking fast! We'll see where the processor wars go. The note keeps me happy, I can wait.
Also if you want a little more in depth look, here's android centrals' post on the S3. Though I like AC in general, I think they were really humping samsung's leg when they wrote it.

You clearly don't understand sarcasm. A 16x optical zoom in a .5cm thick package is clearly impossible. If it were possible, the company responsible would have already showcased it at one of the popular electronics conventions, as an innovation like that would be ground breaking and would not be kept quiet for a phone release.
Besides the ludicrous camera claim, do you think corning would release a new glass with a phone before showing it off at a convention? No. Also, would Samsung release a phone with a 1.9 ghz quad core exynos without exposing the processor first at a convention? No. Along the same lines, we would have heard something about a tegra 4 already if it was going to be put in a phone. The solar powered phone thing has also been tried before, and it was a flop, and that was on a phone much less powerful than you described. So unless there's a new super efficient solar technology as well that they're choosing to let Samsung reveal with the Note 2, that claim is also BS.
Sorry, but whoever is telling you this stuff is clearly taking advantage of how gullible you are.

the solar panel is directly over the super duper amoled screen so it can charge itself as discharges. it won't even need a battery.
heard from a reliable source.

Ok .......... there are more than one of these type of threads.
Safe to say the Note 2 will be a great improvement over the Note1 ....
But....... all the conjecture is just that....... hearsay........
This is starting to spin out of control .....therefore.......

Quadrant or Antutu Scores, cause they matter that's why! This is for the Note 2 only.

I just ran Quadrant now that we have root just to see. 6409. Very cool.:good:
Update: So there is no confusion, this is for Quadrant or Antutu scores on the Note 2 only. All others feel free to post in the sections designated for your phone model.
It is good but didn't beat my 8200 on dna lol

Just wait till the DNA gets an overclock kernel ><
The issue is we're on an cortex A9 where-as the DNA is on an A15. It's just better tech.
But to be honest the performance right now is beyond what we need.
When Android officially has a class in the NHRA then ill worry about all out performance.
Stupid quadrant scores. I had both the DNA and note 2...they r both quick. End of story.

It's actually not an A15, its Krait cpu is kind of in-between A9 and A15. The Exynos 5 quad will be faster, besides possibly the graphics. I'm sure Qualcomm will have something else coming out next year though.
On a side note I tested out Banjo-Kazooie and it does have stutters (nothing affecting gameplay). So I guess I would have actually made use of the S4pro...
6137 with no root.
The dna maybe faster BUT I'm good with my note 2 that memory and battery is a definite no go.

I messed with a DNA it is a cool phone. The screen is really nice. For me it was the battery and non expandable storage that sold me on the note 2 as well. They are both fast as mentioned. Love the note 2.
My Note 2 killed your phone.

I agree they both have positives and negatives. I just activated note and going to sit DNA aside for now. See what the real world uses of the note are since I've used DNA for a week.
And fyi DNA has overclocked kernel and runs 9500+ lol insane and some of the features it comes with are pretty sweet two. I know it's going to be one hard decision between the two to use daily. Heck I might just switch everyday they are both that nice lol

If they come out with a 32gb later in year I'll definitely switch to the DNA.

As a DNA owner, I just want to say to you
1) They're both fast phones. And
2) quit trolling the Note 2 forums. They are different types of phones and You only look stupid when you make comparisons like that. Let these guys have their fun.

AnTuTu is a better benchmark anyways.

memory was the reason I didn't go with the DNA as well. I'm starting to wonder though if you can open the phone and swap an SD card

There isn't one in the DNA. You'd have to buy the separate board that attaches to the main and the back of the Butterfly to theoretically add the sdcard.
I personally chose the Note 2 over screen size. You either want a phone this size or you don't.
