Sweet...loking forward to it. Much appreciated.

It's been ported already in the Atrix forums. Fits our screen perfectly! I take no credit. Just pointing you to it....

Awesome, thanks

I had this on my EVO at one time. So your good?

lags a bit on E3D. How can I speed it up?

Have to open it and change the desc.txt looks something like
540 960 20
p 1 0 part0 (something like this)
( that 20 or whatever its at ) controls the speed you can change it by 5's so up by 5 is faster, down by 5 is slower
brought to you by the little voices in my head

schwartz did you get it to the right speed

I was able to change the speed, but couldn't fix the lag. It was 200p and when changing the speed it skipped part 0 and went to part 1. I tried a whole bunch of numbers from 20p - 300p
No worries. Its not that important to me. I was just trying to get an idea of how these things are compiled.

I cant even get this thing to run on my 3d. How did you install it?

Use root explorer or adb to put it in either system/customize/resource (named Sprint_bootanimation) or data/local (named bootanimation )
now the voices are in 3d

Ok got it working. Thanks for the tip. Wish it would run a little smoother though.

anyway to make it smoother?

Anyone know if there are any write ups on how to incorporate your a custom animation? And does this overwrite the animation of installed roms?

Wasn't able to get this working in either directory. Permissions were changed and I've had other boot animations working. Running Synergy ROM. No big deal, but wanted to give a heads up.
Edit: NEVERMIND! Got it working. Something was messed up with the .ZIP you posted. Here's the I modified that works for me.

I used this on my NS4G and it ran smooth, here is the link for that thread and the download. Maybe this one will help. this ran horizontal with the phone in a vertical position, not like the other that was horizontal on a horizontal phone

Like the boot animation, but it does jitter, especially when the sand is pouring out and then into the word Android. Sorry to say that, cos' I do like the animation.
All the people who say it's so smooth, please post an unedited video of this animation running as smooth as you say. Thanks!
Yea mine started jittering as well so I removed it nice work though

At what point is the animation stuttering? Its possible I can make a fix for it but it might take a day or two depending on where the issue is. If its partway through the animation i'll have to re-render. If its right in the beginning it might just be a simple text file fix. I can not reproduce the issue through 10 successive reboots of the phone
edit: after looking at it, its the size of the bootanimation. I'll try to optimize the animation a bit further to see if that helps. it does stutter a bit in a couple different parts.
edit 2: changing the palate on the files did not help, going to have to re-render it. expect a v2 in a couple days

it'll take some time, but i can probably do that.
I made more than one change to the v2 file, which is why it's taking longer than I originally anticipated. (if anyone knows max, they know that particles + mental ray + animated materials + depth of field = pure processor fail no matter what you do)

480x800 is what works for me
it's hard to get a good boot animation to work in a real fullscreen (1024x600) setting because it's just too hard to display that many images (it's just pictures) and boot up at the same time. That's why I've started sticking with the cyanogen versions.
I would dig on nice looking boot up screens that were not designed to be viewed on smaller displays (ie, no hard edges, just black edges to the images)
That one looks very nice though.

Here's the boot animation that I use. I extracted it from the flashable Dark Horse theme in the Hero C forums (thanks to Kfunk & Mod Nation for actually making it usable) and resized it to 1024X600 and added a few additional frames for a smoother look if anyone wants to try it. I've been to lazy to make it a flashable, so drop it in /system/media and rename it from honeyblue.zip to bootanimation.zip.

[Q] Wonky CRT Off Animation

First of all, I wanted to say my CRT off animation is weird on my SII. It seems to flash white before starting. It was much smoother and sexier on my Captivate and even looks better on the DROID 3. It looks weird on mine. I've tried it on both UnNamed and Cog X2, both have that weird thing. Is it just KH7, or is it just something unfixable?
My CRT off animation looks like that too. it looks bad. it started when I flashed cog b4(had it on stock and it looked fine).

Yeah it does look bad. It looks fine on stock? I'll have to look into that. I guess it's something with custom ROMs. It's really sad...
when I say stock I don't mean pure stock. I had it after I flashed the 12 toggle mod and it included it and it looked fine then but after flashing cog I noticed it. If I can help in anyway let me know. Your work with the captivate was great btw

I'm talking to GTG right now. I mentioned this, hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it. Personally I'm not sure what exactly to do...
On another note, he fixed my animation issues (present in his UnNamed ROM and Cog X2) by disabling slowBlur. Ever noticed pressing Menu on the home screen and opening popups like in settings with brightness and volume, that the popups open with an animation that seems to be half missing? He fixed that for me. So I'm hoping he will find this too. The guy really knows his stuff.
Thanks for the compliment! I hope to soon start some projects for the SII!
Some news coming from GTG
However, the CRT animation on dg's rom and on my rom (with the addon) is as good as it's going to get. It just isn't rendered right on the Galaxy S II and no one has figured out why definitively. Whoever told you it works fine on stock just doesn't have a very discerning eye. Read that whole thread I linked you to. The international GSII owners already went through this long ago and accepted that the CRT animation will never be quite right on the SGS2 with Samsung based ROMs. CRT is fine on CM7 though apparently.

This is so weird. Up to this point, my CRT worked wonderfully. So well that it looked native. I saw this thread, so I looked at it again and now mine has the white screen issue (for the first time) .
EDIT - Upon reboot, my CRT returned to normal. One of the lucky ones I guess.
Thought it was my just my phone. It was fine until yesterday...well at least I first noticed it yesterday...all static-barcode looking. But I can say honestly at one point it was definitely smooth because I played with it continuously when I first enabled it because it looked so sweet on my screen.

Apparently it has a lot to do with the music player and screen shot app. But no matter what I still get a weird flash in the middle of it, ruining it. On KH7 anyway, with slowBlur off.

It isn't a fix, nor does it actually work. It looks better, and that's it. Notice how when you press the power button, the screen turns white then shrinks towards the middle. That's not how the animation should work. It should take the screen, and shrink that towards the center, I assume with a white outline. The problem is the last screenshot taken I guess, or just the buffer/cache somewhere.

Well...er...can confirm that reboot worked for me too!!!
On UnNamed with slowBlur off, a reboot makes it look almost acceptable. Still wrong compared to my Captivate.
Restoring a backup of stock that came with my phone, gonna enable it there and see if that works. Just in case...
On stock firmware which came with the phone, I manually enabled CRT off. It works, but still not correctly. It does not shrink the screen, but a while screen. And has a weird flash in it. Guess that's a nope. It's USABLE but nowhere near perfect.
So I need someones help. I deleted the screen capture apk, and now pressing the key combo just makes the phone vibrate. So somewhere there is a link between that apk and the button combo. Can someone help me find that?
I would help but I have almost no android ( or Linux for that matter) experience. I would love to learn so I can finally start giving back to the community.

REQ Animation

Mazook98 brought up this video awhile ago that shows the development of ICS. It would make a sick Bootanimation if someone could do it.
Here is the vid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRyAVVeZv4g&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I understand itll have to be trimmed and dont really care what portion of the clip is used. Mazook98 brought up the 14:40min mark but I think it might be a lill small on the screen and really starting from the beginning might be best b/c the strings are stretched across the entire screen surface there.
Much appreciated in advance to whomever can get this done!!
I'll take a look at after work and see what I can do ,I have a couple to finish up but I can get some thing together in a few days

Mazook98 originally liked the portion at 14:40min mark but when i looked at it, the image was smaller in the video and figured the beginning looked better b/c it would take up more of the screen.

Okay got around to using v2 landscape and also v1 portrait last night. I will say the landscape looks much better than the portrait. portrait looks more scrunched up on the screen.
Both seem to have slight issue where you see a little jerk in the video and seems the size changes some or least you see a jerk from the top of the animation shrinking down for a split second.(tough to describe sorry)
Is there a way to get it to just get the animation to loop once completed? I didn't replace the default.xml file and just dropped the animation file replacing the current one in the directory with root explorer. I didn't think the default xml file would have the line to loop it in it, but if its in that then ill swap them out or edit my current one to include it i guess.
No the default.xml doesn't make it loop, and you want to loop the whole thing that's a 40 second clip it should have played until boot. I can add more to it but to make the whole thing play again I would have to double the folders and that zip would be hugh 20+ mb. As for the glitch that kinda happens when cropping black boarders away from black backgrounds gets a little tough to judge it sometimes.
I have nothing cool to put here!

Gotcha yeah guess its bc amount of apps I have on the phone as the clip stops at the end and there's about another 40sec or so before I get to the HTC lockscreen and can do anything.
I'm sold on landscape with this animation though as it looks better overall IMHO.
Yeah I didn't know if there was a way to just script it to loop without actually doubeling the size of the animation.

[Q] Screen On / Off Animation (not power up/down)

I was wondering if there is a way now that we have root to enable the Gingerbread on / off animation that HTC removed, without having to flash a new ROM?
This is different than the power up / restart / down animation that is listed elsewhere in this forum.
Thanks!
I just searched around, and maybe it's lack of proper wording but all I turned up was "it's in Gingerbread" Nothing relating to how to activate/deactivate/change it. What I would surmise from all of this is that HTC chose not to implement it in their build, so an AOSP build would/should have it vs the HTC build.. Sucks but it seems like all we have right now.
Of course the last link I try, I find this: http://droidmodderx.com/old-school-crt-animation-for-gingerbread-tv-off/
Don't go flashing it, but we should be able to pick it apart and determine what we need to add in.
I was able to add it in but HTC messed something in the code up and the animation plays extremely slow. I'm still looking around to see if i can figure out how to speed it up and once i do it'll be in my rom.
Awesome. This is my first Android and I've seen it in videos. Seems pretty cool!

Negative, according to Newt and Chingy, the animation does work but there's something within the OS that slows it down dramatically, so it's pretty much useless.
We'll have this soon enough, the dev's are awesome and they'll figure it out. I do like having those animations.
