[Q] Flash Player on the Viewpad 7 - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

Hey guys,
any of you managed to get flash player 10.1/2/3 going on your viewpad 7? I found this cracked apk file on the net call flashplayer for armv6. It installed OK(at least seemed to be) but didn't make actual difference to the device. I still can't play facebook games, still can't play web-based flash... I've tried with different web browers but none of them would work, very sad....
I fully get it flash player only suppose to work with armv7 + but there's gotta be ways around this right??

hi
providing craked software ie Warez is against the rules of this forum
this just for ur info
This thread is Moved to General

Are Warez the only solution?
While we're on topic, how come Flash isn't installed on the ViewPad 7? I have it on all my other (2) devices. I just figured that Flash was an Android standard.

I guess the CPU (600 MHz) and/or main board does not support Flash. It's the hardware, not Android.
EDIT: I heard that some of the mobile browsers do support flash on it own.

I think that Opera Mobile or Opera Mini do support it.

Think there is aleady flash 10.1 for our pad you can download it urself or install custorm ROM regads
Flash alone link:
http://androidcampus.blogspot.com/2011/07/app-working-adobe-flash-player-for.html
ROM(kernel "overclocked to 850Mhz" and Flash 10.1 included-please read hw version note):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224825
I will be loading this ROM tomorrow(most probably)
regards zbig0

Let us know how it works.
I"m not keen on rooting.
Knowing how inept I am, I will surely brick it.

Hi,
I have installed few custom ROMs already so feel quite safe... if your install prior to custom ROM eq Clockworks recovery then even if you brick pad you can recover and load whatever ROM u want...
I have now EUViewpad7 1.4 with build in flash ability and OT to 850Mhz and some tweaks...Rom works fine no issue with it.
Flash? hmm Works overally only problem I see is flash-Video--> when you try to wach it there are some color artefacts(which makes picture weird you can see video but colors get weird) or as with justin.tv browser is closing up but flash games etc works fine(maybe little slow).

Appreciate the advice.
Have 1.5 GB available but can`t install anything since RAM is down to 25 MB.

Gnash
The limitation is that the CPU only supports an ARMv6 instruction set, and closed-source Adobe Flash Player (tm) has been compiled for an ARMv7 instruction set. I do not see how a ROM update could solve that. Theoretically a ROM update could emulate an ARMv7 instruction set, but is that realistic for a platform that is mostly open source?
The more practical option would be to port Gnash to the Viewsonic devices. I cannot post links, but there is a page out there on how to build Gnash on android.
BTW, the thread is entitled "Viewpad 7", but it's also the same issue on the Viewsonic v350 smartphone.

i've tried the las flashplayer 10.2 and used Dolphin HD explorer and all works fine. Facebook games also works fine!

Maybe this is a difference between Viewpad 7 and the v350 smartphone. I was able to install that 10.2 package you posted, without error, but it fails to render flash content on the v350. I went to a couple different flash testing pages, including the one on the adobe website. It displays a Lego-looking box (like the puzzle piece that used to appear years ago); it's as if flash was never installed.

Jep this one is good
Ive installed new EU 1.6 rom and then updated flash to 10.2 and all works for me like a charm no issues with youtube hi def videos and even flash videos on webs are working...so its amazing we didnt had any flash on our tabs and now all work(yeah little slow but all works) video is quite vital can watch no problem
tested on: justin.tv wrzuta.pl
regards

I have installed the latest flash 10.2
it all seems to be working swimmingly except for one app
ESPN goals
The video of footy goals actually plays well except for a message bang in the middle of the screen blocking the main action
it states
"Cannot play video
Sorry, this video cannot be played."
and closing this message also closes the playing video
I guess this is an app/software issue and as such modification is needed which is a shame

Reinstalling an older version of espn goals seems to have worked 1.6 (I could not find 1.7)
1.8 is the latest

i just installed the flash player 10.2 on my viewpad 7 but i still cant play flash. It displays the lego with a "?" inside. In fact, when i go to setting manage application, i dun see the flash player running. What can i do?

Flash doesn't work
I've installed the EUviewpad-Rom 1.7. Flash seems to be included but doesn't work. My Viewpad has ite-hardware / hw1.07. On flashbuilder.eu it shows that flash isn't running.

for those who installed flash player on viewpad 7, is it choppy when watching videos online?

Unable to use Adobe Flash
I have tried all the Flash APKs found on this site. None work - period. My Viewpad 7 is HWVer 107 and is in factory unmodified condition. If anyone is having success running any of these versions of Adobe Flash, it would be helpful to elaborate on both the ROM version and browser you are using. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

The core issues being that Vpad7 is based on ARMv6 CPU, which Adobe excluded when designing Flash Player 10.x development, so it really doesn't matter our hardware ver. is 106 or older, and newer ones v.107 - whether it's ITE touchscreen or not being irrelevant in this case. Java is installed along with Flash Player 10.1 or 10.2 - but it simply will NOT run.
Those with non-ITE hardware perhaps are luckier as their kernel can be over-clocked to run faster, so whatever workarounds or fixes can get it to run for them.
I have a HTC Eris with similar specs. and we had 10 times development work from XDA'ers, LOL, over what's dedicated here for the Vpad7, trying various patches to get it to run - and, still N.G. (no good.) The newer devices, like my HTC Incredible 2 with better specs - 1G CPU and add'l RAM - run Flash 10.1 out of the box - been rooted & running custom ROM to upgrade it to run better & faster.
Been uninstalling, re-installing both 10.1 and 10.2 - Dolphin HD browser & Skyfox browser plus the default ones - my summary: it simply won't do it. Moving on to other Apps that can be optimized, just my 2 cents. of course.
Cheers !
P.S. However, as long as I can watch YouTube on it like now, whether it's Flash 10.x or not, really doesn't matter to me (anyway.)

how to install Flash Player 10.2??

Did anyone install flash player 10.2 and its works? Is any chance to run it on our minis/mini pro? i have CM3.4 but i still have reebots until instalation finish..
mini and mini pro have arm v6 processors. adobe only supports v7 for flash. won't work even if installs.
how about port? change something in database of Flash player? is this possible?
Not to my knowledge, this phone wont ever get flash, its a basic hardware limitation, not a kernel prob or something that can be worked around, basic core of flash requires a processor that our phones dont possess
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
I had the Adobe FLash PLayer 10.1 for 2.1 working on xPeria x10 mini.
I had downloaded it, put it on the sd and installed with AppInstaller, reboot and working.
Anyway, I edited my ROM and it's not working anymore, when i touch a video the browser try to download it (and it fails). When FLash worked it show the landscape screen and the video starts (like the youtube.apk).
I have the 2.0.A.0.504 compilation.
PD: It's works for videos, don't know if works with flash games (not tested)
EDIT: I realize that if you delete semcvideo, adobe flash does not work.
Mate, you probably had the video viewed with the youtube player.
Flash uses ARM v7 chipset instructions. So, unless someone ported the v7 instructions to v6 within the code, it won't run on mini and mini pro. It will run on the X10 allright, as it has v7. Originally Adobe wanted to support v6 aswell, but they changed their minds...
even when you fake adobe to think you have an ARMv7 processor it won't work just tested it
and by the way adobe is working on a v6 compatible flash
but i can't be sure if it is ARMv6 or ARMv11 wich use ARMv6 "layout"

Yes you are right, sorry, it's viewed with the default player (not youtube).
The advantage of installing the flash.apk is that you can touch on any flash video (from any website, I even tried a pr0n one ), the semcvideo player starts on full screen and streams the video. When you close it, you see the browser again.
Without the flash.apk when I touch a video, android try to download it to the SD card and I can't see it until it's full downloaded.
It's not real flash, but enough for me.

What custom rom should I get.

Im stuck between vegan and tnt lite. Which one should I get?
I asked the same question to myself a few days ago when I first started researching them. Hope you don't mind me using your thread since I didn't want to start a similar topic. I think after doing lots of reading & video watching I've settled on VEGAn 5.1.1. I've been writing down items I'd like to add right away once I receive the g-tab on Wednesday. So far, I have the following things I need/want to do for sure:
- setup Wi-Fi connection
- Check firmware version to make sure it isn't 3991 & update to 3588 if 3389 is received as expected
- install clockworkmod, VEGAn 5.1.1, flash & market fix
- install malware exploit patch
The other apps & what not I'm thinking of adding are:
- a kernel (possibly clemsyn's)
- Titanium Backup
- Dolphin Browser HD
- Launcher Pro
- Quadrant
- Google Cloud Print
- ES File Explorer
- DroidEmuLite
- ROM Gripper
- WiimoteController
- Kindle/Laputa
- EZ PDF
- Samurai II Vengeance, Pinball Deluxe, Angry Birds Rio, etc.
I don't really want to overwhelm myself so I'm going to take this slow. I know there are alternate apps/ROMs/etc to what I've posted above but those look good from what I've read or seen. Not sure what other must-haves I'm missing though. I've looked into NVflash & adb a little. There was an alternate keyboard I liked but will have to track that down again.

It depends on what you're after. For the first month after I got the device, I stuck with stock plus gapps, then the enhancement pack. Then I finally went ahead and went to TNTLite, which I dug for a long time. However, after going to TwoTapsX (following TNTLite 5) and successfully using NVflash to get out of it, I decided I was going to try out Vegan. I first went with Ginger, but as much as I loved it, the My Apps thing drove me crazy, and when I tried the workaround, it borked the install. I then wiped again and went with Vegan 5.1.1, and I have to say: this is the most I've enjoyed the tablet.
The reasons for this are simple. TNTLite is a great ROM, very quickly updated, and with all the refinements one could ask for. However, I was always looking for a way to get to the Android control functions (like lockscreen and the ability to set a password for cached credentials) that aren't included in the settings menu.
Some refinements made in the TNT system (the browser interface, etc) might be missing in Vegan, but getting access to all Android configuration options makes me like it better than TNTLite can currently offer. I look forward to GoJimi/etc's continued work on GingerEdition, as I'm sure it's going to kick ass very soon.
I am using calkulin rom + clemsyn kernel + chenglu loopback megapack and my gtab flying. It is faster than my laptop @ duo core 2Ghz. Thanks to all developers.
Thank you very much guys, this is a great thread... From what I have read other than the stock browser, Dolphin HD should also be able to handle Flash 10.2. Please keep reviews coming and what you use the gTablet/ROM mostly for.

That is about the exact same list of core apps I use. Lol! Wiimote controller works great. I love gameboid and other emu apps when paired with the wiimote.
Dolphin HD is the only browser I have gotten hulu to work on.
Launcher pro is the awesome on gtab. The new 3d transitions look awesome on it
Titanium backup is a must if you want to try new roms but hate hitting the market for an hour downloading your apps again
To stick with topic though, I use VEGAn Beta 5.1.1 as a daily. I love gADAM and TnT lite a lot and switch between them here and there. Currently waiting for official release of VEGAn and word if viewsonic is heading in the direction of 3991. If they do I'm planning on moving onto twotapsx for a daily. At thus point its to much of a pain in the bum to switch between twotaps and other roms.

Question. If im going to load Vegan 5.1.1 do i really have to do the OTA update? Since I will be wipping the rom and loading another rom. That means no point doing th OTA update to get version 3588 no?
If you have an earlier version than 3588 you need to do OTA to get there. If you are thinking about VEGANtab, I would stick with 5.1 ( not 5.1.1) for my first flash. It is the most stable version and you can easily move to 5.1.1 later. I suggest a check list procedure so you don't forget something and be patient as reboots take longer after flashing.

No, because you will be using nothing from it.
You use Clockworkmod Recovery as the recovery, not the stock one from the OTA.
You use VEGAn system, not the one from the OTA.
Install Clockworkmod Recovery, install VEGAn5.1, install the 5.1.1 supplement and I would update to one of the newer kernels as well (pershoot or clemsyn).
What is the OTA update? And do I have to install vegan 5.1 and then install the supplement 5.1.1?
My gTablet got much better with regard to wireless and Market app installations when I went to 5.1.1 from 5.1.
Looking for the most concise changelog and howto info for installing clemsyn kernel into VEGAn 5.1.1. if anyone has a link to such a thing.
I'm using Two Taps X .092 and it is the best by far. Side note using Firefox for browsing.

OTA = Over The Air. It updates the official release of firmware loaded on your tablet from the factory. You don't need this if you're flashing a custom ROM.
Yes... 5.1 then 5.1.1 supplement. They must be done in that order since 5.1.1 is sort of like a service pack.

[Q] Adobe Flash Player Support for Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hi everyone!
I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy Mini (GT-S5570). It seems that the flash player is not installed, nor supported by this device. Is this right?
Did anyone tried to install the flash player on it with any success?
Thanks,
Ciprian
uhmm.. dude i also can feel you..
the thing is.. the galaxy s5570 doesn't really support any flash.. it has been really the most disappointment to the galaxy mini.. since i really expected that it would support it.
As what my research goes, adobe team doesn't claim any unsupported smartphones since they said that "THEY REALLY WANT TO SUPPORT EACH AND EVERY SMARTPHONE, BUT THE ONLY THING IS THAT WE DON'T CONTROL THE SUPPORT BECAUSE ONLY THE MANUFACTURER'S CAN CORRECT THAT"
So it means we need to contact the SAMSUNG PEOPLE. But unfortunately i tried to ask it by emailing them but i cant seem to get their email. and i tried their own site for contacting but they dont support S5570 and it really bugs me since this PHONE is new yet they dont support it.. [email protected]#[email protected]#[email protected]#
sighs.. all we can do for now is try to contact ASAP the samsung on what solution can we get since for me galaxy mini wont really lagg in FLASH.. but i guess the other way is to wait here and support the developers who are trying to find a way to have a FLASH PLAYER for Galaxy s5570..
PS: i tried already installing the adobe flash apk file but it would install but wont work.. so no good... AND i also tried the SKYFIRE.. it can support every kind of VIDEO FILE EXCEPT FLV..
its really a VERY VERY VERYY BIG DISAPPOINTMENT to the samsung manufacturers..
PS again: if your wondering why i bought this phone and it doesn't support flash.. is that it is the only available smartphone in my subscriber and i need a plan that BADLY in order to contact many people...
Any news on this? I installed Gingerbread and flash installed for me, but both browsers show "Plug-in content" and there's no way to play it..
Maybe there's an app for it? Cause well youtube works via the app.
Flash is currently armv7 only so your phone doesn't support it
(it's armv6)
There is flash lite(atleast on my phone) which allow viewing swfs and plays youtube videos in stock browser
Try getting the apk
just try to install adobe flash player 10.2 pre release.. it make your browser could play flash file. i am using skyfire 4.02. and works well.

think u need to be on a custom rom
that flash player app is just for Optimus One.Besides the ARM 6 platform the LG has 512MB ram and the S5570 384MB,i think here is the difference. The Mini is a low end device,so flash support on browsers wouldnt be available...and if a developer manages to get it work it will run with alot of lag...and make your device "heat up",in my opinion is much more convenient to use the Youtube app from the market, and if u really need to get fully flash support upgrade or go to a PC.This is 100$ device, what would you aspect?

It also works on mine.It doesnt matter ammount of RAM here(it matters only if you use a browser with 50+tabs and want to watch a clip),flash will stress mostly the CPU,and since LG Optimus ONE and Galaxy Mini has THE SAME CPU AND THE SAME GPU i dont think it's a problem.
I also use TJ's CM7 with normal clock on cpu(600Mh'z) and i dont have any problems at all.
cum ai reusit?
i'd found this (download below) it says that is version Adobe_flash_v10_3_for_ARMv6,now i'm instaling it to see if it works...
...it is confirmed to work with Dolphin browser HD but i dont what to say about Dolphin, sometimes wont save files from rapidshare, zippyshare, filesonic etc. and i dont know why
here's how to get adobe flash(on the stock browser)
1) install any custom rom dat is dere for ur mini be it cm,andro-id or vanilla
2) overclock ur mini 2 a little above 700mhz(cant be sure about d min frequency dat u need to be on for flash 2 work, srry 4 dat)
3) now install d apk file http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=724095&d=1316405253
4) tada! adobe flash on ur mini
ps: overclocking burns ur cpu, nd using flash on ur mini leads to unstabillity(expect a lot of fc's)
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Thanks for the flash hints because the basic Adobe Flash Player doesn't run on my Samsung.

[Q] What to do now ?

My Atrix is SIM unlocked, rooted, bootloader unlocked and Gingerbread installed.
What to do now ? Just to use it as a smartphone only ?
Jocking. But suggestions appreciated.
- Is it really worth to try an other ROM ?
- Is there a possibility to connect a hard disk via USB port ?
- Is there a dual boot possibility to boot additional an other Linux operating system ?
- Is there any application to remote control my Atrix from my Linux (Ubuntu) laptop as a remote computer with desktop (homescreen etc.) of my Atrix ?
( Attention not talking about remot control of computer from the smartphone)
- How could a store (move) my
text massages (Gingerbread text messages)
emails (k9 mail)
videos (Gingerbread video camera)
fotos (camera zoom FX)
bookmarks, etc ... my profile of Firefox mobile
on my external SD card ?
Hi Folks ! My questions were not jocking, but probably too many of them.
So maybe one only:
Is it worth to try an other ROM when your phone is already unlocked and rooted with the original one ?
Until you've used cyanogenmod everything else is just.....lowbrow. Download the latest stable release of CM7 from the development forums. And you'll never go back to stock again.
Sent from Hyperspace using Tapatalk
Hi Phalanx7621 !
I have heard of cyanogenmod ROMs, but to my knowledge ( http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices ) there isn't an official one for the Atrix up to now, where everything (fingerprint etc.) is running fine.
Anyway, as I never used a different ROM, I have quite some difficulties to understand what are the benefits for doing like this. For sure there are, otherwise nobody would do. Maybe the ones of you who changed the ROM could share some facts with us the still non changed ones.
Maybe I am wrong, but if I compare this action with my ThinkPads. Should be comparable, as the Atrix is a kind of mini laptop and even running with Linux (Android). Same on my ThinkPads, they are real laptops and running Linux as well (Ubuntu). - Sorry can not compare this with Windows.-
To update the Android version from V 2.2 Froyo to Gingerbread V 2.3 is like an update from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10. Usually some improvements, bug fixes and updates. Fine.
To change the ROM. Isn't like to change the distribution on the laptop ? For example to change from Ubuntu 10.04 to Linux Mint 11. Both are on the same basic. More or less the only difference is the look & feel. All applications are the same. And even Ubuntu you can make it look like Mint or vice versa. No really need to change the distribution.
Maybe this is the same with changing the ROM. The look & feel.
But what about
- boot time ? Really different with different ROM ?
- the speed ? Really different with different ROM ? But when ? To open Firefox for example ?
- the used RAM by the operation system ? Any differences ?

There is a quasi-official ROM. Actually, it IS Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 with some fixes to get it running on out Atrix. The fingerprint does not work because only Motorola ROMS have both the kernel drivers and the libraries to make it working. Fortunately, the Atrix Cyanogenmod team is working on this and eventually they will find a way to make it working.
In any case, I find that the stock rom and the stock radio still has the best battery life (in my case, still Froyo). Maybe not the best performances, but I am pretty sure about the battery life.
Update: CM7 Atrix team have the permissions to build their nightly releases on Cyanogenmod build server. I believe that they are getting fully recognized by Cyanogenmod. Therefore, I would say that they are pretty much official.

[Q] Flash for armv6 is not working on my Lg optimus net l45c's default browser.

I recently got myself a new phone called lg-l54c and I downloaded flash for armv6 but it didn't work on my default browser. So I searched the Market now known as Playstore for a compatible browser and I found that most browsers that said they were flash compatible would not work with my flash for armv6, so I searched a bit deeper and found a browser called Uc browser developed by ucweb and flash for armv6 worked! But I wanted to have my default browser to support flash for armv6 but I have not gotten it to. Throughout the market the only supporting browsers I found are Boltbrowser and UC web browser. I also searched the internet and found a browser called Firefox alpha but Firefox alpha is a very laggy browser so I really would rather use my default browser but like I said I can't get flash for armv6 working on my default browser please help me in doing so.
Try to search and download Dolphin Browser HD. It has an integrated flash on it. Hope that help .
Flash on ARMv6 is not Adobe supported so any apk you get is something created unofficially. They can be hard to get working on certain devices, some will require a custom ROM IIRC. Perhaps try looking for a flash apk that others have reported as working on your phone.
