[Q] Preinstalled Quickoffice HD vs. Quickoffice HD Pro - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any functional difference between the preinstalled Quickoffice HD and the Quickoffice HD Pro in the marketplace?

I'd like to know as well...

I thought someone here might know, but I guess not. I sent a query off to the developer this morning; will update this thread with whatever they have to say.

Well, I typed "Quickoffice HD and Quickoffice HD Pro differences" in Google and the second link returned said...
Quickoffice Pro was designed and developed for smartphones with Android operating system. It will work on almost all recent Android OS versions, although on some older versions (different 1.x versions) some new functionality may not be supported.
Quickoffice Pro HD was designed specifically for Tablet devices, it has optimized user interface for large screen and higher resolution and some new features which are more useful on a tablet device.
Quickoffice Pro HD will work on Android OS version 3.0 (Honeycomb) and newer.

The version on the Market is 4.5.15.
The 10.1 version is 4.6.20110614.39 - Samsung Tablet
I suspect there is no functional difference, only that Samsung had it tweaked specifically for the Tab 10.1.

I did get a reply from the developer this afternoon. Basically, they said the version that is preinstalled may lack functionality and then gave me a list of functions in the pro version. I can't figure out how to select a block of text in the Gmail app or I'd pater it in here. Based on the list of functions in the pro, versus what I can do with the preinstallation version, I don't see any point in buying pro.

I downloaded the QuickOffice 4.5 Manual and I don't see anything that the bundled app doesn't do.

I got my UK 10.1 last week and I cant find Quick Office installed.

Took my stylus back to BB - got my $40 back

I didn't use it for anything, except for a couple of screenshots and doodling, so I thought $39.99 was too much to pay for an app to just take screenies.
I ripped the Supernotes app from the ASUS EEE, and I love using it with the stylus. All my notes are now taken with that app and the pen.
Yeah the Asus app is pretty much a HC rehash of Freenote that's been on the app market for a while. Some cute features, but I still prefer Evernote / HTC notes, one big reason being that they sync and share to the cloud and across phone, tab, desktop.
Are you using supenotes on HC or gingerbread? I tried supernote on my stock gingerbread, but it just force closes.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P512 using Tapatalk
Supernote is a HC only app. Try Freenote from the android market, looks like the same thing and runs on all versions of ANdroid
Just curious... what feature do you feel lacking in the notes app?
I finally updated to honeycomb. I installed supernote but I noticed the application is a little glitchy. Anyone else who is using this notice the bar on the left side and parts of the screen on the right is cut off? Maybe its the apk I am using. Could someone upload a good working version if there is one?

I don't get it. What's wrong with using Evernote.

Supernotes is a Asus custom version of Freenotes. Its not meant to run on the Flyer, it runs on the Asus Transformer.
I personally much prefer the HTC Notes / Evernotes to Freenote, but if you want the original version, you can download Freenote from the Android marketplace and stop using the Asus application meant for the Transformer.
Others have stated it works. My question was for those who have used the app. I am aware of freenotes and have used it, but
still prefer supetnotes. They are not exactly the same. I do use the stock notes/evernotes apo, but I like options. I had a transformer and that's why I am partial to the app. I used a version ripped for the Xoom so maybe that's why it has a few glitches.

not really a tablet version, but it works. If it were a tablet version, the left pane would only expand to about a quarter of the page. I bet it works with honeycomb and ics though
Actually it doesn't even works with the honeycomb or ics tablets...Check out some pics here:

IPad and ios version is the same so I don't expect a fully compatible tablet version. A 3rd party fb app is "tablet" ready but lacks the features the current fb app has. Reckon its up to the user if they want aesthetic over features or vice versa.
Webos has tablet version right? But I like the current android version. I used it on mobile.website.

It's not really a tablet version but it's a lot better than the old one.

Friendcaster has all of the features of the regular FB app, at least all of the ones I use. It works great on the TP.

I've tried It and I'll pass it doesn't have the same features as original app. And I don't like ads.

I really like the touchpad version, especially the magazine style news feed. The sliding of the panes, and links is just like the rest of webOS, intuitive and smooth. It pulls your pictures into the picture application, WP7 style, another nice treat.
The phone app version on Android seems such a waste of the screen. When on the android side I use dolphin browser to get the full site.
The superior Facebook app is just another reason I use Android less and less on my touchpad.

Tagging friends using @, integratedvchat and messaging inbox, also some posts don't show up if users set certain privacy settings.
Also some features have to be opened on the site since friendcaster doesn't support them natively

That's one thing I miss from WebOS it had a really good FB app, and I liked how it linked your facebook albums into thep hoto app.
Fb v1.8 works fine on my tp with no crashes.

No polaris/flipboard for our S3?

As above, is there no flipboard for our s3? And polaris doesn't seem accessible, only able to view documents using the viewer...?
Same here. Where did you purchase your GSIII? Mine is from t-mobile Germany.
Perhaps flipboard is only available to UK residents at this time???

I bought mine at MediaMarkt SIM free and also don't have Polaris & Flipboard.
I also don't have video maker! I tried importing it from s2 and galaxy note but it didn't work....
Anyone?

I'm in Dublin, Ireland. Got my Galaxy S3 with Three Ireland and it does in fact have Flipboard.
Flip board is probably an English-speaking region exclusive. I remember it used to be only available in the US AppStore for a long time on iOS.

same here. have neither of them on my singapore set.
any one with Video Maker included?
Sharing Videos require Video maker to make them smaller.... i tried the ones in the market but they suck...
Hmmm I guess Flipboard is exclusive to UK at the moment now? I just installed the extracted APK from the Flipboard thread, works but I can sense some slight choppiness at times.
Polaris is totally missing from my phone..
Missing good apps and bundled with crap bloatware from the carrier :x

Can you please tell me your ROM info from Settings > About
Is it just me or is Flipboard full of US content and hardly anything UK related, especially on the sport side?
In spanish manual figures that flipboard is available, but when you search for it in the phone, it isn't available...
Just as a tip, I took Polaris from a Galaxy S 2 ROM, works beautifully.
you can download flipboard in the application "more services"
flipboard is up on samsung apps.
Australian stock - flipboard installed by default but no Polaris office full version.
It seems like AU stock only as Polaris viewer and when you use it to open a doc it says to download full version for free from "more services" but upon searching the more services, I could not find it.
Anyone manage to get Polaris office full version installed by any means?
Same here, it is viewer only, which states that it is possible to get a full one, but it is nowhere to be found...<!

The Firefox from play store seems incompatible but you can give Aurora from Mozilla a try. Still alpha I believe but works well for me so far on my prime. Snag the apk directly from Mozilla!
Happy Browsing!

Firefox does not work at all at time of writing, which I find frankly deplorable. Aurora does, however, it isn't rendering some pages correctly in mobile or standard browser modes.
Firefox Beta asbeen updated in the Play Store with tablet support. I'm posting from it right now
The bad: It renders slower than stock or Chrome and the occasional ANR (though it seems to happen less than with the stock browser.)
The Good: Extensions like adblock and phony. Flash support and it's very very smooth now. I like to stress test on cnets site and it works pretty well there.

Android General Question

Hi, I'd like if someone can explain to me why android apps never open Web links within the app instead of always redirecting you to the browser like iOS and I never noticed this before but I'm currently using an iPhone along side my Galaxy S3 since I'm in the Caribbean and I just think the iOS way makes more sense especially for apps like cracked and Facebook.... Thoughts?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Because the android apps in question do not have a web browser within them, at least not in the sense of a traditional browser. I can't attest to how iOS works as I have too many qualms with apple to use their products, but I would assume many of their apps also launch a browser for web content, and if they don't its due to integration of a browser within the app.

Hey sorry I'm just noticing the reply and all I'm looking for is a discussion of some sort but a bit of an update I just used the CNN app on my Galaxy and it as in opened links pertaining to the app within itself such as unlocking the live TV and I just think more android apps should do it and also you might be familiar with flip board and how not handles links that's what I mean
